And those keys will either be given out to longtime supporters (aka >500$ spend or >=420$ in one pack), through random twitch drops from streamers or via supporter pack. And on Steam you are buying a supporter pack to access the game and get any leftover keys send to you via mail or smth

Buying the Ultimate Edition for D4 is one of my biggest regrets in gaming to date. Thanks to D4, however, I finally gave PoE a proper try and I absolutely love it. I've bought two of the $480 packs so far and to be honest, I still have the majority of the in-game currency unspent. For me, I just want to show my support to the studio and judging from what we've seen so far from PoE2, the funds have been put to good use.
I think it will be a full Early Access PoE2 launch. I think GGG doesn't want to launch PoE2 1.0 , only to find out they don't have enough servers. GGG also wants players making build guides, for 1.0
No it wont be completly free. The servers would crash and the people would be pissed. LE had big server issues and the steam ratings are still low since then
I would drop money for access to this without any hesitation. I haven't played PoE1 in a while 'cause the ZOOMZOOM meta wears me out, it's still one of my favourite games of all time and while I don't always agree with GGGs decisions they've earned my faith that they're doing what they think is best for the game, in order to thereby profit, more so than the other way around like certain other companies. I can't wait for the more tactical playstyle PoE2 has, not to mention the huge amount of new lore we're going to get.
you have no legit info actually about who will get into early access. Zizarian get to know in interview that it will be done in classic way. Random keys and guaranted key per 500$ spent on the game in the past. They do not want everyone to get in - they want to increase playerbase in steps to test stuff.
Having played the POE1 Closed Beta.... I think that was closer to a true beta. You have to remember it had only 2 acts with 3 difficulties. There was quite a bit missing, and there was a huge lack of content. Not to say it wasn't fun, and new acts quickly came, which they did after a few months, but for some time it was fairly basic. Ironically the only Mirror I have ever seen drop, dropped for a friend in closed beta :D POE2 looks like a far more complete experience, and a FAR more full fledge game (100 bosses POE2 vs 5 if your are being generous in POE1 Close Beta). I think this is why they chose to use the term Early Access as it a far more complete game when dropping for people.
It was also launched directly after d3 had their abysmal technical launch and a ton of difficulty patches. It was easy to take a break from the horrible difficult of d3 and try out an up and coming game. It was a true beta though. And they had feedback from actual beta testers
I'm sure we'll see microtransactions for skins etc. during Early Access. So The game will release when it's really finished is a bit easy to say... it will be F2P right? so it's not like the 1.0 is a big deal.

As nice as it would be, we already know at least at the start beta access will not be free. At exilecon, they already stated that access will be given to people who have purchased a 500$ supporter pack or have spent a total of 500$ on their account total. But we will have to see what else there will be

Sure..but just keep in mind poe2 is a different beast this time, it is not niche for the most crazy arpg fans out there. This time the noise around it was big especially after the " d4 bad" so now they have a lot of eyes that never played poe1 looking towards poe2. If Poe2 stays insane like poe1 .. in a year time the player base will be just the hardcore poe1 fans. Im not saying the game should be dumb for ppl with 20 IQ, but i also dont think i want to sit down after work and stare the excel sheet for 10 hrs ..
Wouldn't it be hilarious if GGG opened EA for free so everyone could play it 3 weeks to a month after D4's expansion? I mean that would be a kick in the Arse. 'See what we did? And it's FREE!!!! Regardless, I would hate that it would be invites or closed to invites and those that already spent a good amount of money on it. Even if it's $40 for a supported pack, it would be one I would happily pay for. In my opinion, Early Access should be like any other Early Access game I've seen. If you paid a certain amount, You should be able to play. So looking forward to this game.
The amount of ABSOLUTE, BLIND faith in this game is.... truly amazing. PoE2 was supposed to come out to beta YEARS ago. Literally like four years. And yet people think they're going to hit their 6-12 month estimate of EA time before release EVEN AFTER they just announced their 5th or 6th major delay and even after we learn that despite all these years of work they're still only at 8/12 classes then? Also have no idea what you're on about with PoE1 being a soft launch. It was a barebones alpha with a couple acts, no maps, and a half-baked progression system that was scrapped entirely. The game was barely there. That string of patches was a desperate clawing to get some sort of content into the game. Even compared to 1.0 it was a SMALL fraction of the game. You believe there will be tons of end game content yet they have shown off or discussed absolutely nothing beyond vague, empty promises that there will be "stuff". As a whole they have shown NOTHING of the endgame. They have SPECIFICALLY avoided sharing any details of what the game is like. We have not seen how fast map mobs die with a decently geared character, so maybe we're just going back to instant screen clears. We have not seen what a 6-link skill looks like at all, really, much less what your screen looks like when you're trying to spam four of them at once, so screen clarity is just a vague hope. All we've seen, relatively, is level 20 Act 2. And if you think level 20 Act 2 is a great example of what the game is like in high level juiced mapping or bosses then you are sorely mistaken. GGG just keeps promising the world and backing up NONE of it and people are just eating it up as gospel. And now, since they care about player feedback so little (they are GGG, after all), they're releasing an entire game with little to no user input and whatever there is that is fundamentally flawed is likely to remain that way, potentially for years if not forever, because they can't just back up and redo the last 2-3 years they've been working on the game. Maybe the whole end game system is shit, but you know what, they made it 4 years ago and instead of seeing what people thought about it they just buried it under more and more code and features and it stopped being realistic to redesign it two years ago. PoE2 would hardly be the first time a sequel crashed and burned because developers didn't listen to their players and built a product that those players didn't want.

I disagree with what you said about No Rest For The Wicked. This game is what a early access should be : a game in construction with a developing team listening to their community. I hope PoE 2 will go the same route. PoE 1 did with its beta period. A fully fleshed product has no reason to go in early access, it should just go 1.0. And notice you're not describing a fully fleshed product when talking about the PoE2 EA.
I think Early Access (Beta) Will be closed. - People with a lot of playtime in POE 1 will get automatic access on launch of beta - Same with people that have spent 500$ or more on POEover the years - They will send out invites to people that sign up weekly - They will sell supporter packs with beta access (Maybe not at the start of beta but after a couple of months) - Maybe they will open the beta for everyone 1-2 months before the game launches

Honestly I feel ignoring the game till they decide to stop stalling is best. I was hoping to enjoy the game a bit this summer but here we are. The poe1 is such a mess of mechanics and the crafting is simply not worth the time with how it's nowadays after all the nerfs. Only reason people are looking forward to poe2 is to experience poe with less needless grind and mechanics few fully understand. I hope they don't make poe2 so messy and for the love of everything impliment a auction system on pc like consoles have. If they do something that's comparable to grinding for 6 links... Might aswell not even try as it's just a outright annoying mechanic that makes using gear you've progressed towards meaningless... You can get a item that really makes your build work in a fun way but you need a rediculous ammount to turn it into something usable. There's already enough rng to have items get decent stats... Low rates for good rng on top of each other all the way... It's not rewarding... It's just time wasting. Poe2 looks like it will adresse this but given how they've designed poe2 I'm a bit fearfully they'll add something even worse... I'm totally fine with low drop rates from bosses but endless gambling crafting is not fun...
My guess is that there will be some level of hierarchy in staging how players get progressively invited to Early Access (deservedly for the biggest supporters of the game). But then I suspect they will be quite aggressive in the rate at which new invites are sent out, as fast as the servers can handle while maintaining a good player experiences (while they stress test and optimise servers & netcode, without artificially restricting access behind a pay wall). The worst thing they could do is repeat the mistake of Last Epoch in not preparing for a huge initial influx of players. Aside from that, I think you are right, they will get far more $ and good will from people voluntarily buying supporter packs (after they've tried the game) than they will by pay-walling Early Access.
No Rest for the Wicked did the exact right thing 🤷🏼♂️ It was said the game won't be finished on EA release because they want to develop the game with the community since it's the first game of the studion in the arpg genre and they want to make it the best version of it it possibly can be. You want a finished game, dont buy an early access title or get informations about it together before buying 😉 Looking forward to PoE2 👍

Nope, some cheap "entry" pack + a skin for 10-30. Key giveaways for some streamers or other communities. More expensive packs with store credit and some exclusive stuff just like for the leagues.

The thing that strikes me a bit and that seems to have gone under the radar is that, closed beta is by definition ... closed. So you have a limited number of players and you control it. With an early access, anyone who can pay the entree fee (and as you said, it's likely to be free), then you can play the game. That means no limit on the number of players. While I don't mind this change, it seems way more risky. They might get 10, 100 or even 1000 times for player with an early access compared to a closed beta and I'm wondering how they will handle thast

Dude if you'd like to earn subscribers here's a tip: get to the point. Nobody wants to hear what the video is going to be about for 2 minutes, that's why we read the title. Nobody cares about your desktop either. Just get to the point. This is such a bad trend on youtube nowadays. I'm writing this because you have potential and your videos are quality, not to argue. Don't say what you are about to say, just say it. If the video has 10 minutes of content, don't draw it out for 15 minutes. Poeple will just skip the bullshit.
I don't think it'll be free at the start. It'll probably be some people that get invited and others that can pay to get in. Once they've gone through the first few weeks and ironed out all the major bugs then they'll open it up to the rest of the general public. They do want people to get the best experience after all, so the first more limited wave will pave the way for a bigger wave of people.
Honestly, best option for them and the community is open access. Free to try and free to play. Putting up an entry barrier to that experience after all the hype would be a shame.
I don't think that they just open up the game for everyone. I think they might use the modern "watch a streamer for x-hours to get a key". At least that was my initial thought. This method worked well for a bunch of other games in recent months.
How about free access BUT limited to a certain amount so you need to stay in queue for a while AND as an option there is a way to enter if purchase - geforce now aprouch with queues for a free access

Enjoy your content. I watched the interview with DTMicro and Ghazzy and I recall that Jonatha did want all classes available for EA. That may not be the case but that's the confusion. Early access in my eyes is a game that anyone could get into 'early' (Pre-release) paid or free. In the end, I want to play it when POE2's Early Access launches. That's when I'm expecting to play it. But if they slowly bring people in, I would be a little frustrated. If the entry point is $30, so bit. Well worth it. I don't care about D4's expansion. D4 was not a game I enjoyed even though I played through the campaign. When I heard about POE2 through Exilecon(2023) I started getting into POE again and never looked back. This is the game I'm looking forward to. Even if they launch EA with 8 classes and 1 ascendancy (I think he mentioned that too), It will be worth it more than D4 + expansion put together. Favorite ARPGs Path of Exile Diabo 2 Titan Quest Last Epoch Torchlight series Diablo 3 Grim Dawn v v v v v D4 (Yeah that's how much I dislike it)
D4 still bad and the Expansion will not save it . (People will still buy it because some people hope it will Fix the game and some are just Blizzard Fan Boys )
Not right now, I used to! Kids + wife + house work + 45-60 hour work week = very little time to script, but it's nice and easy to sit down and record a video and get it out for all of you. That's the price I am paying right now. Plus, the engagement has never been higher!
Since they're aiming for multi platform launch with cross play I have a feeling it will be same as 3.0 initially for at least a couple weeks or more. there's already going to be an insane amount of people playing even if it's paid/loyal entry, and servers going to be absolutely devastated. making it open at launch sounds nice if we lived in a world where server stability and capacity was guaranteed. I'm sure they'd rather people be able to actually play the game and give feedback without having to be in a 2 hour+ queue, and have constant game crashes. There's also been nothing said to this day to assume an open beta/access format. It just doesn't seem feasible to have open access day 1 and be successful. A trickle in effect would be a much better solution to combat server issues.
The thing that Early Access has ruined are the concepts of Open or Closed, Alpha or Beta development stages. Early Access is in many cases an Open Alpha, and let's tackle these words. Open and closed is very simply whether the product is or isn't available to the public respectively. Alpha and Beta on the other hand refer to development stages that are ready for testing; Alpha is when many of the core bones of the project are ready, This phase of testing is to test if the structure is holding or if it's gonna crash from the slightest touch. Beta is when you're looking to test extraneous features and find bugs and glitches that only minorly disrupt the experience. Basically if we make a clay sculpting analogue; Alpha is before you set the clay to dry, and Beta is after it's been drying a bit. Early Access has unfortunately mashed those two stages together and sent them to public testing. I much prefer seeing a game under the Alpha or Beta tag than Early Access.
I never got the $1000 diamond supporter pack Kiwi and have always regretted it (my gold kiwi is still loved). This time around I would buy a 1k pack if they launch with it.
The hilarious thing about the d4 beta for me was that it gave me the itch for arpgs again. And since the full game wasn't coming out for a few months, I downloaded POE to scratch that itch. When d4 finally came out, the closed nature of the character development (stuck skill trees with obvious meta paths, specific weapons for each class, blah) vs poes "do whatever, break the game, we don't care" wasn't even a close contest. I have 10 hours in d4 and 2000 someodd in Poe. Poe got more money out of me too, be ause I needed stashes and because I love supporting devs that just get it.

I recently made a post in the PoE2 subreddit about the Duelist class and it seemed to have gained quite some traction. Would you be willing to do Duelist focused video for PoE2 and predicting what they could do to call back to their original PoE1 Duelist reveal trailer? Duelist is my favorite class in PoE and aside from Carn (who came to an event wearing the ironic red shirt), I haven't seen many content creators push GGG to talk about the class since it is IMHO the protoypical melee class of PoE. I think I have identified the thing that can inform gamers about what early access means to the Dev. Consider that a traditional beta period was a limited free to play experience, whether or not it would later be sold, that was focused on having people report bugs and quickly patching said bugs. If a company charges you for early access or doesn't have a robust bug reporting system, they're not trying to fix bugs. In the first instance, charging for early access, the company is after the funding. Attaching the early access label allows them to start selling the game before it's done and for some reason we find that acceptable. In the second instance, no way to report bugs or a buggy report system, the company is out for the press hype and is probably trying to gather data from which they can extrapolate the sales figures. Sadly, the cash shops are usually already functioning and open for business during early access in most games these days and that is a metric companies use for tailoring their pricing at launch. Sometimes you can't yet buy the game but you can buy (insert game specific premium currency) and spend it in the shop. Just some thoughts. Lastly I'm not a dad and was wondering if I could get a day too? Probably not huh. Lol
I always assumed a part of it was server power. No company wants to overpay for unnecessary server space, and no company wants to have too little causing massive lag etc on release. If an initial release is tied to sales, it gives more confident numbers for server capacity.
@@roccoheat8662 These days servers are scalable and are not a huge chunk of the operating budget. When a game enters beta, it is the first time it's getting played by people who are there to try to "break" the it. When they do succeed, they fill out a big report describing the context of the break. Mashing buttons near a wall usually has no effect on a game but that is because someone did that in the beta and found the gap in the boundary of the map that made them fall through the map, as an example. It takes a real live human to test this stuff and report back. If you wanted to test server capacity, creating virtual machines to induce load is way cheaper faster and easier than getting a person to do it. Just looking at POE league launches, you can see that from one league to another the server capacity at GGG isn't changing. That doesn't mean there's no server issues but some leagues have more and some less. A bug that makes PConc do no damage is a major problem and that coding error can result in many other problems that may present to a layman as "server issues". Client crashes are usually assumed to from this. It's not the servers that need testing, it's the actual game that needs testing. Best way to do that is to let people play it for free with the understanding that they will report the bugs they find. People are very different in the ways they play a game and that is useful. I always run into fire to see if I take damage when I first play a game. Someone else may tap a bunch of buttons during loading screens or hold down a button during a jump. These actions can do nothing or can crash the game. That's what the dev is trying to find out with a beta release
In my opinion they will use this ''early access'' as a window to sell the game through supporter packs before it eventually goes free to play, which i am 100% in support and in favor of, just speculation though it could well and truly be completely free on early access release and in that case i would be super surprised. I'm curios with all the changes to couch coop and all if the game would be more coop friendly than poe 1(i mean loot from endgame bosses,conqueror progression and league mechanics,the casual coop style playing like diablo 4,i even told ghazzy as well if he could ask this question in the interview but sadly he didn't. It would really be cool if we could find out about that as well.

I agree with this for the most part. I do think there will be staggered waves for entry at the start so they don't overwhelm the servers. I do think it will be free however. They will probably use past purchase to invite people over the first week or two, potentially less though.

My guess was exactly the opposite of yours. Betas are typically free and often criticised if you have to pay for then because players are doing QA work for the developers. My guess is they renamed to early access because they want to charge money. They will probably sell supporter packs that grant EA access and also contain points so they can make it more expensive without seeming overpriced

Gaming on Linux is fine with proton dude. Poe 1 works well on a steam deck so you’ll be fine. They said they want good SD support for POE 2 = good Linux support.

I haven't played PoE1 in a while 'cause the ZOOMZOOM meta wears me out, it's still one of my favourite games of all time and while I don't always agree with GGGs decisions they've earned my faith that they're doing what they think is best for the game, in order to thereby profit, more so than the other way around like certain other companies. I can't wait for the more tactical playstyle PoE2 has, not to mention the huge amount of new lore we're going to get.

Zizarian get to know in interview that it will be done in classic way. Random keys and guaranted key per 500$ spent on the game in the past. They do not want everyone to get in - they want to increase playerbase in steps to test stuff.

Having played the POE1 Closed Beta.... I think that was closer to a true beta. You have to remember it had only 2 acts with 3 difficulties. There was quite a bit missing, and there was a huge lack of content. Not to say it wasn't fun, and new acts quickly came, which they did after a few months, but for some time it was fairly basic. Ironically the only Mirror I have ever seen drop, dropped for a friend in closed beta :D POE2 looks like a far more complete experience, and a FAR more full fledge game (100 bosses POE2 vs 5 if your are being generous in POE1 Close Beta). I think this is why they chose to use the term Early Access as it a far more complete game when dropping for people.

It was also launched directly after d3 had their abysmal technical launch and a ton of difficulty patches. It was easy to take a break from the horrible difficult of d3 and try out an up and coming game. It was a true beta though. And they had feedback from actual beta testers

I'm sure we'll see microtransactions for skins etc. during Early Access. So The game will release when it's really finished is a bit easy to say... it will be F2P right? so it's not like the 1.0 is a big deal.

Sure..but just keep in mind poe2 is a different beast this time, it is not niche for the most crazy arpg fans out there.
This time the noise around it was big especially after the " d4 bad" so now they have a lot of eyes that never played poe1 looking towards poe2.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if GGG opened EA for free so everyone could play it 3 weeks to a month after D4's expansion? I mean that would be a kick in the Arse. 'See what we did? And it's FREE!!!! Regardless, I would hate that it would be invites or closed to invites and those that already spent a good amount of money on it. Even if it's $40 for a supported pack, it would be one I would happily pay for. In my opinion, Early Access should be like any other Early Access game I've seen. If you paid a certain amount, You should be able to play. So looking forward to this game.
The amount of ABSOLUTE, BLIND faith in this game is.... truly amazing. PoE2 was supposed to come out to beta YEARS ago. Literally like four years. And yet people think they're going to hit their 6-12 month estimate of EA time before release EVEN AFTER they just announced their 5th or 6th major delay and even after we learn that despite all these years of work they're still only at 8/12 classes then?
Also have no idea what you're on about with PoE1 being a soft launch. It was a barebones alpha with a couple acts, no maps, and a half-baked progression system that was scrapped entirely. The game was barely there. That string of patches was a desperate clawing to get some sort of content into the game. Even compared to 1.0 it was a SMALL fraction of the game.
You believe there will be tons of end game content yet they have shown off or discussed absolutely nothing beyond vague, empty promises that there will be "stuff". As a whole they have shown NOTHING of the endgame. They have SPECIFICALLY avoided sharing any details of what the game is like. We have not seen how fast map mobs die with a decently geared character, so maybe we're just going back to instant screen clears. We have not seen what a 6-link skill looks like at all, really, much less what your screen looks like when you're trying to spam four of them at once, so screen clarity is just a vague hope.
All we've seen, relatively, is level 20 Act 2. And if you think level 20 Act 2 is a great example of what the game is like in high level juiced mapping or bosses then you are sorely mistaken. GGG just keeps promising the world and backing up NONE of it and people are just eating it up as gospel.
And now, since they care about player feedback so little (they are GGG, after all), they're releasing an entire game with little to no user input and whatever there is that is fundamentally flawed is likely to remain that way, potentially for years if not forever, because they can't just back up and redo the last 2-3 years they've been working on the game. Maybe the whole end game system is shit, but you know what, they made it 4 years ago and instead of seeing what people thought about it they just buried it under more and more code and features and it stopped being realistic to redesign it two years ago. PoE2 would hardly be the first time a sequel crashed and burned because developers didn't listen to their players and built a product that those players didn't want.

I disagree with what you said about No Rest For The Wicked. This game is what a early access should be : a game in construction with a developing team listening to their community. I hope PoE 2 will go the same route. PoE 1 did with its beta period.
A fully fleshed product has no reason to go in early access, it should just go 1.0. And notice you're not describing a fully fleshed product when talking about the PoE2 EA.

- People with a lot of playtime in POE 1 will get automatic access on launch of beta
- Same with people that have spent 500$ or more on POEover the years
- They will send out invites to people that sign up weekly
- They will sell supporter packs with beta access (Maybe not at the start of beta but after a couple of months)
- Maybe they will open the beta for everyone 1-2 months before the game launches

Honestly I feel ignoring the game till they decide to stop stalling is best. I was hoping to enjoy the game a bit this summer but here we are. The poe1 is such a mess of mechanics and the crafting is simply not worth the time with how it's nowadays after all the nerfs. Only reason people are looking forward to poe2 is to experience poe with less needless grind and mechanics few fully understand. I hope they don't make poe2 so messy and for the love of everything impliment a auction system on pc like consoles have. If they do something that's comparable to grinding for 6 links... Might aswell not even try as it's just a outright annoying mechanic that makes using gear you've progressed towards meaningless... You can get a item that really makes your build work in a fun way but you need a rediculous ammount to turn it into something usable. There's already enough rng to have items get decent stats...
Low rates for good rng on top of each other all the way... It's not rewarding... It's just time wasting. Poe2 looks like it will adresse this but given how they've designed poe2 I'm a bit fearfully they'll add something even worse... I'm totally fine with low drop rates from bosses but endless gambling crafting is not fun...
My guess is that there will be some level of hierarchy in staging how players get progressively invited to Early Access (deservedly for the biggest supporters of the game). But then I suspect they will be quite aggressive in the rate at which new invites are sent out, as fast as the servers can handle while maintaining a good player experiences (while they stress test and optimise servers & netcode, without artificially restricting access behind a pay wall). The worst thing they could do is repeat the mistake of Last Epoch in not preparing for a huge initial influx of players. Aside from that, I think you are right, they will get far more $ and good will from people voluntarily buying supporter packs (after they've tried the game) than they will by pay-walling Early Access.

Nope, some cheap "entry" pack + a skin for 10-30. Key giveaways for some streamers or other communities. More expensive packs with store credit and some exclusive stuff just like for the leagues.

The thing that strikes me a bit and that seems to have gone under the radar is that, closed beta is by definition ... closed. So you have a limited number of players and you control it. With an early access, anyone who can pay the entree fee (and as you said, it's likely to be free), then you can play the game. That means no limit on the number of players. While I don't mind this change, it seems way more risky. They might get 10, 100 or even 1000 times for player with an early access compared to a closed beta and I'm wondering how they will handle thast

Dude if you'd like to earn subscribers here's a tip: get to the point. Nobody wants to hear what the video is going to be about for 2 minutes, that's why we read the title. Nobody cares about your desktop either. Just get to the point. This is such a bad trend on youtube nowadays. I'm writing this because you have potential and your videos are quality, not to argue. Don't say what you are about to say, just say it. If the video has 10 minutes of content, don't draw it out for 15 minutes. Poeple will just skip the bullshit.
I don't think it'll be free at the start. It'll probably be some people that get invited and others that can pay to get in. Once they've gone through the first few weeks and ironed out all the major bugs then they'll open it up to the rest of the general public. They do want people to get the best experience after all, so the first more limited wave will pave the way for a bigger wave of people.
Honestly, best option for them and the community is open access. Free to try and free to play. Putting up an entry barrier to that experience after all the hype would be a shame.

I don't think that they just open up the game for everyone. I think they might use the modern "watch a streamer for x-hours to get a key". At least that was my initial thought. This method worked well for a bunch of other games in recent months.

Enjoy your content. I watched the interview with DTMicro and Ghazzy and I recall that Jonatha did want all classes available for EA. That may not be the case but that's the confusion. Early access in my eyes is a game that anyone could get into 'early' (Pre-release) paid or free. In the end, I want to play it when POE2's Early Access launches. That's when I'm expecting to play it. But if they slowly bring people in, I would be a little frustrated. If the entry point is $30, so bit. Well worth it. I don't care about D4's expansion. D4 was not a game I enjoyed even though I played through the campaign.
When I heard about POE2 through Exilecon(2023) I started getting into POE again and never looked back. This is the game I'm looking forward to. Even if they launch EA with 8 classes and 1 ascendancy (I think he mentioned that too), It will be worth it more than D4 + expansion put together. Favorite ARPGs

Not right now, I used to! Kids + wife + house work + 45-60 hour work week = very little time to script, but it's nice and easy to sit down and record a video and get it out for all of you. That's the price I am paying right now. Plus, the engagement has never been higher!

Since they're aiming for multi platform launch with cross play I have a feeling it will be same as 3.0 initially for at least a couple weeks or more. there's already going to be an insane amount of people playing even if it's paid/loyal entry, and servers going to be absolutely devastated. making it open at launch sounds nice if we lived in a world where server stability and capacity was guaranteed. I'm sure they'd rather people be able to actually play the game and give feedback without having to be in a 2 hour+ queue, and have constant game crashes. There's also been nothing said to this day to assume an open beta/access format. It just doesn't seem feasible to have open access day 1 and be successful. A trickle in effect would be a much better solution to combat server issues.
The thing that Early Access has ruined are the concepts of Open or Closed, Alpha or Beta development stages.
Early Access is in many cases an Open Alpha, and let's tackle these words.
Open and closed is very simply whether the product is or isn't available to the public respectively.
Alpha and Beta on the other hand refer to development stages that are ready for testing;
Alpha is when many of the core bones of the project are ready, This phase of testing is to test if the structure is holding or if it's gonna crash from the slightest touch.
Beta is when you're looking to test extraneous features and find bugs and glitches that only minorly disrupt the experience.
Basically if we make a clay sculpting analogue; Alpha is before you set the clay to dry, and Beta is after it's been drying a bit.
Early Access has unfortunately mashed those two stages together and sent them to public testing. I much prefer seeing a game under the Alpha or Beta tag than Early Access.
I never got the $1000 diamond supporter pack Kiwi and have always regretted it (my gold kiwi is still loved). This time around I would buy a 1k pack if they launch with it.
The hilarious thing about the d4 beta for me was that it gave me the itch for arpgs again. And since the full game wasn't coming out for a few months, I downloaded POE to scratch that itch. When d4 finally came out, the closed nature of the character development (stuck skill trees with obvious meta paths, specific weapons for each class, blah) vs poes "do whatever, break the game, we don't care" wasn't even a close contest. I have 10 hours in d4 and 2000 someodd in Poe. Poe got more money out of me too, be ause I needed stashes and because I love supporting devs that just get it.

I recently made a post in the PoE2 subreddit about the Duelist class and it seemed to have gained quite some traction. Would you be willing to do Duelist focused video for PoE2 and predicting what they could do to call back to their original PoE1 Duelist reveal trailer? Duelist is my favorite class in PoE and aside from Carn (who came to an event wearing the ironic red shirt), I haven't seen many content creators push GGG to talk about the class since it is IMHO the protoypical melee class of PoE. I think I have identified the thing that can inform gamers about what early access means to the Dev. Consider that a traditional beta period was a limited free to play experience, whether or not it would later be sold, that was focused on having people report bugs and quickly patching said bugs. If a company charges you for early access or doesn't have a robust bug reporting system, they're not trying to fix bugs. In the first instance, charging for early access, the company is after the funding. Attaching the early access label allows them to start selling the game before it's done and for some reason we find that acceptable. In the second instance, no way to report bugs or a buggy report system, the company is out for the press hype and is probably trying to gather data from which they can extrapolate the sales figures. Sadly, the cash shops are usually already functioning and open for business during early access in most games these days and that is a metric companies use for tailoring their pricing at launch. Sometimes you can't yet buy the game but you can buy (insert game specific premium currency) and spend it in the shop. Just some thoughts. Lastly I'm not a dad and was wondering if I could get a day too? Probably not huh. Lol

I always assumed a part of it was server power. No company wants to overpay for unnecessary server space, and no company wants to have too little causing massive lag etc on release.
If an initial release is tied to sales, it gives more confident numbers for server capacity.
@@roccoheat8662 These days servers are scalable and are not a huge chunk of the operating budget. When a game enters beta, it is the first time it's getting played by people who are there to try to "break" the it. When they do succeed, they fill out a big report describing the context of the break. Mashing buttons near a wall usually has no effect on a game but that is because someone did that in the beta and found the gap in the boundary of the map that made them fall through the map, as an example. It takes a real live human to test this stuff and report back. If you wanted to test server capacity, creating virtual machines to induce load is way cheaper faster and easier than getting a person to do it. Just looking at POE league launches, you can see that from one league to another the server capacity at GGG isn't changing. That doesn't mean there's no server issues but some leagues have more and some less. A bug that makes PConc do no damage is a major problem and that coding error can result in many other problems that may present to a layman as "server issues". Client crashes are usually assumed to from this. It's not the servers that need testing, it's the actual game that needs testing. Best way to do that is to let people play it for free with the understanding that they will report the bugs they find. People are very different in the ways they play a game and that is useful. I always run into fire to see if I take damage when I first play a game. Someone else may tap a bunch of buttons during loading screens or hold down a button during a jump. These actions can do nothing or can crash the game. That's what the dev is trying to find out with a beta release

I'm curios with all the changes to couch coop and all if the game would be more coop friendly than poe 1(i mean loot from endgame bosses,conqueror progression and league mechanics,the casual coop style playing like diablo 4,i even told ghazzy as well if he could ask this question in the interview but sadly he didn't. It would really be cool if we could find out about that as well.

I agree with this for the most part. I do think there will be staggered waves for entry at the start so they don't overwhelm the servers. I do think it will be free however. They will probably use past purchase to invite people over the first week or two, potentially less though.

My guess was exactly the opposite of yours. Betas are typically free and often criticised if you have to pay for then because players are doing QA work for the developers. My guess is they renamed to early access because they want to charge money. They will probably sell supporter packs that grant EA access and also contain points so they can make it more expensive without seeming overpriced

Gaming on Linux is fine with proton dude. Poe 1 works well on a steam deck so you’ll be fine. They said they want good SD support for POE 2 = good Linux support.
