He was cool about it. I died a lot inside. Some scars are ugly.

I've got rock bottom twice in my life. First time was after I moved out of my mom's house (in a rather cowardly way, basically just dropped a note saying I'm moving out love ya) well I was a young and dumb 18yo who thought I could make it. I did not make it. I ended up living in my 91 cavalier, begging my mom to let me do work around her house to make a buck, digging through dumpsters and trash for cans to turn in. I eventually got a job and moved into a finished basement apartment with 3 other until a Fire Marshal had us evicted due to the apartment being illegal (only 1 fire escape) Second time was while I was in the Army. I'm pretty strong mentally but every day for year after years of being made to feel like no matter how proficient I was at my MOS I was never good enough, and they were sending me to train other platoons in different brigades across the post. I was an e4 holding the position and responsibilities an e7 in my platoon. Finely I had enough, I fastened my belt around my neck, tied a knot on the other end and threw it over my door and closed it. I'm only here now because my belt broke.
As a former soldier I'm glad you're here brother. I too am going through another setback with my wife of 15 years who just out of the blue divorced me and now I have nothing left. I'm living out of my car and some days I contemplate just ending it. But I can't think of myself especially what the repercussions of what that action entails. Well again I'm happy you're still with us and I hope you're doing better 🍻
There’s an argument to be made about how far are we gonna let kids go with their mistakes. You need to make them in order to grow up and do better but good god man that’s years of your life you throw away. Ones that could have brought you where you are now, years ago. I’m 19 and I consider myself pretty mature for my age, but seeing everyone around me and my age make the same dumb mistakes they’re gonna regret is just sad. I’d like to say it’s almost neglectful on the parent’s part but what are you gonna do, force them to stay at 18? Tell them to gain work and life experience? They don’t want to hear it. I hope all the old heads can help the younger people out here struggling. Seems as much as time passes and we grow wisdom, it keeps getting lost on the new generation.

No it doesn’t. Not crying about everything or letting your crying get in the way of living your life does in fact make you a pussy, but crying because you’re sad or something bad happens is just logical.
