Nice quad! It sure pays to keep one clean. Here in Kentucky where I live we have clay dirt. Once that stuff drys on a machine it’s almost impossible to get the residue/film that the clay dirt leaves behind off.
I always keep it in first gear then lift up the front to put it up in the air resting on the grabbar to spray and clean the bottom of the raptor aswel works great
Always make sure to oil your chain before each ride, this prevents stiff chains and maybe even a snapped chain, Just go to your local walmart or something, and get chain wax, what we do is we put our raptors up on blocks, put it in gear and spray the chain -helpful tip from an internet person

I just came back from a muddy ride today and I have to wait a couple days till I have a day off to clean it. It usually takes 2 hours for me to clean my 2006 LTZ400. I hate washing the tires. I use a Muffler Exhaust Wash Plug when washing and storing. It's funny how I just sat down to drink a beer and this video came up on my feed. Aloha and take care
iworkforbudlight i race cross country and this year we have had some serious mud races some times 3-4hrs of cleaning w mine once its clean ill strip all the plastics,wheels etc and then do it all over again 😫

Love the sound of hmf exhaust looks cool in red. Hmf is one of the only still selling exhaust for adly 300 aka Honda trx300ex but only usa so shipping makes its over 350€.... So I just welded a fake akrapovic on it.
You should think of buying a petrol power washer they are great for cleaning scramblers and quads worth the investment if you clean regularly as you don’t need to pay to use one

Bro it take me around 2 hours washing rinse dry and detail.. I clean under the seat intake tube the full works.. if you stay on top the cleaning makes it much easier..
Love the vids man. Alot of people dont wait till the quads cooled down and wash it right away when the engine is hot which ends up cracking the cases. I see alot of people at the motorcross track do it and it makes me cringe.

Great tip! I always run the machine for several minutes right after washing to make sure any water that could’ve crept in is evaporated. Normally I cover the exhaust with a disposable glove but didn’t have one the day I made this video 👍

Humm i have a karcher k2 at home, so yeah not good to wash direct the radiator? I had it full Of dirt so i just put the pressure wash close to it. Most of the fins are already pretty bend...
My air box is open so I just refrain from high pressure around the seat and it’s fine. Just avoid the tip of the exhaust the best you can. The main thing is to run the quad for a few minutes to help evaporate anything that could’ve gotten into the exhaust. I’ve never had any issues as long as I’ve done those things 👍
Dalton McCauley it’s dropped about a quarter of an inch since I got the machine. It’s finally down below that low line. I’ll definitely be adding some before I start riding in warmer weather regularly
What about airfilter, shouldn't be left in while washing as it easily can let water in. I like to take out my filter and soak it in cleaner before washing then post-wash clean oil it and clean the airbox.
Classical Cubing that’s a good idea. Now that I have an open topped air box I’m pretty careful not to spray high pressure real close to the seat seal. I wash my air filter pretty much every ride during the regular season. During the winter it lasts a bit longer

Sometimes I put a rubber glove over the exhaust if I remember to grab it. If you don’t plug your exhaust it’s important to run your machine for several minutes right after to make sure any water evaporates. I clean my air filters regularly and have never gotten them wet while washing 😊👍
I just have the supplied FCI outerwear over the media filter. Thankfully I haven't had issues with things getting wet. I do put a latex glove over my exhaust most of the time, sometimes I forget it. I always run the machine for at least 5 minutes afterwards to make sure any water that could've snuck into the exhaust evaporates out👍
I got a blue 2004 660 a few months ago. It has been my dream since it first came out when I was in 7th or 8th grade. Idk why it took me so long to get. I'm already planning on a new 700 next year. I just can't decide if I should keep the 660 as a backup or trade it in.
I have the Aplinestar Tech 5's. They're still on the lower cost side when comparing boots but I really like them. I would maybe try the Tech 7's next time but these boots still have a lot of life in them
I didn’t have any issues with the performance of the HMF, they make good pipes. At the time I was wanting something more unique and Rossier wasn’t as popular as it is now so I decided to try them out. Plus the shorty mufflers are a little louder and I wanted a bit more sound lol I always tell people to pick their favorite exhaust based on sound or cosmetics since all the pipes are pretty comparable for performance gains. Some have better bottom/mid/top end but unless you’re doing a really high performance motor build you’re not gonna really notice the power differences between them 👍

I got the raptor first because it's a great trail quad and it's super reliable. It gets the job done most of the time. I do want a 450 for dune trips or track days. I hope to help people decide which model would be right for them once I have both machines.
Pretty much the same here. After the wash, the whole quad gets air-dryed with compressor and then lubricated in any part that has movement. That's how the bearings, rubbers and even cables get an extended life.
Jon Maser those things look pretty awesome. I have yet to make home washing investment. I do like how the mess can stay at the public wash and you don’t have to put anything away. Do you use an electric washer?
@@PeteHager that's very true about the mess. My driveway slopes down to street so isn't bad or I've seen people was them on the grass as well. I currently have an Excell gas pressure washer I bought off Amazon when I purchased my house a few years ago.

I've been washing my machines just like this my whole life and I've never had any issues. I cant imagine a small bit of overspray going into the muffler will cause any harm. Plugs are cheap so I'll probably order one just to be safe 👍
Spider Graphix made them for me. I told the what colors and logos I wanted and they made me several different examples until we narrowed it down. They have a huge presence in the GNCC world so they're supposed to be pretty durable, so far they're holding up nicely!
Anyone that lives or rides in real muddy coal dirt etc my tips are get napa version aluminum brighter (has to be Napa version) it has acids in it that eats the mud spits away. Not harmful for wires hoses etc. I use that on motor sprockets rims and basically just spray it on and leave it set for like 20-30 seconds rinse or pressure wash don’t matter. That helps if u have spots that don’t come clean even tho u scrubbed it. And if u ever notice plastics that don’t come clean only look clean when they are wet mine where like that to. Car tire foam on the plastics and hoses and wires. I spray it on the plastics a quick coat then wipe them and they look wet and clean all the time makes cleaning easier! And hoses I spray and put a quick coat on and leave it go l. Soap don’t matter car soap dawn dish soap don’t matter! Give it a shot
i usually grab 2 squirt bottles from lowes and use about 10oz of simple green, 8 ox of degreaser 88 and a heavy squeeze of dawn dish soap and fill the rest of bottle with water. squirt it on, let sit for about 10min, sprasy a 2nd coat again and then rinse off with water and comes out spot free since the chemicals do all the work. takes me no more than 20min

Its normal loss probably from the riding it's fine nothing will happen. If you fill it too much you just loose more while riding

Hand wash is the only way. My last step is spray the entire bike with foam tire shine and wipe it down again + WD40 and a tooth brush if needed.

Car tire foam on the plastics and hoses and wires. I spray it on the plastics a quick coat then wipe them and they look wet and clean all the time makes cleaning easier! And hoses I spray and put a quick coat on and leave it go l. Soap don’t matter car soap dawn dish soap don’t matter! Give it a shot

You are doing a great job looking after your staff mate
i usually grab 2 squirt bottles from lowes and use about 10oz of simple green, 8 ox of degreaser 88 and a heavy squeeze of dawn dish soap and fill the rest of bottle with water. squirt it on, let sit for about 10min, sprasy a 2nd coat again and then rinse off with water and comes out spot free since the chemicals do all the work. takes me no more than 20min

just bought a 1600psi Riobi power washer, it works very good for cleaning my quad n gear. it was 99$ totaly worth it
