I know that turbos are cool and all that stuff, but two strokes are a completely different beast. If you want to make some real power, you need to get an expansion chamber on that thing.
@@Drosba A supercharger wouldn't work on this motor. You would have to redesign the whole engine. That would easily triple the power the thing currently has.
@@ncopp4358 I know it's not possible but theoretically would a pro charger work really well? Like if this thing was fuel injected cause I know it's not really possible with a carburetor
You need the expansion chamber, 2 strokes work a whole lot different than 4 strokes. The expansion chamber is part of the engine functionality as it is tuned to create an optimal shock wave that helps with pulling the air-fuel ratio into the cylinder. 2 strokes are a whole beast in and out of itself and getting the exhaust tuned properly takes a lot of research and consideration
The exhaust doesnt pull the mix into the engine from the carb, it scavenges unburnt exhaust gasses back into the cylinder, the expansion can be made longer for more bottom end power or shorter for more top end power which changes the wave. Ideally to make a turbo work effectively on a 2 stroke you would need a timed rotary valve on the exhaust to allow the cylinder to have positive pressure and also still scavenge on the exhaust gasses.

I'm curious why you wouldn't have re-jetted the carb. Forced induction only works when you increase the fuel alongside the air (boost). If all you do is increase the air, you won't really see more horsepower unless it was running super rich to begin with, you just run the motor super lean. Unless you're dealing with a fuel injected motor with a MAP/O2 sensor, adding a turbo, supercharger or NOS without adding fuel is pointless. I think this mini bike would only be a bit faster because the factory ships these motors running crazy rich, which was pretty obvious given how much smoke it was producing out of the box.

I feel like this was a great learning experience. Regarding back pressure, you need to understand that the pressure wave is created by the expansion chamber in the exhaust pipe. Without the tuned expansion chamber, you are actually making less horse power than you could otherwise. And like another comment mentioned, you NEED to put a slightly larger jet in the carburetor to really benefitfrom more air, or you may just burn up that engine. Revisiting this build with that in mind, you could have torched the exhaust pipe and bent it to allow the turbo to be placed elsewhere allowing the expansion chamber to still be a functional benefit and still power the turbo for boost. Maybe next, you could try a belt driven supercharger that is run off the starter pulley. 😊

Thanks!
You guys should print shirts bum rag , bum motosport ruff as guts. Thanks for your vids use guys are fun keep it up
I feel like this was a great learning experience.
imo those tiny minimoto engines don't use the zaust expansion chamber
It needs the carb putting inside a presurised plenum, otherwise no jet changes will be able to fix this. Blow-through carbs NEED a pressure reference from the turbo, and the easiest way to do with without making modifications to the carb itself, is to just put the carb inside a box, and pressurise the entire box with the turbo.
That extra boost might be affecting your reed valves. Check that they have enough tension to fully close.
I wondered where you went, it's good to see you. Subscribed! I missed you!
Thanks you!
