    Very, very cool, the young player, the DAW, the Apogee Interface, the …, yes the whole video. Super! So, Warren, if you come to Europe, maybe to Austria, you could also hear your saying in German: Jesus, Maria und Josef! Just had to laugh about the fact that this is also used in America, translated literally. 😅😅😅

    i have a Motu 1248 and a Apogee element 24 ..same converters inside ..but the Apogee sounds better in my opinion ..better low end and mids ..it's stellar ..i think it's their clocking system ..the Motu is still really good. Big love.

    PLUS: preamps / converters / Logic integration / Interface / DSP onboard (but no reverb)
    CONS : breakout cable (and back to first model with 6 cables instead of 4) / loss of the 2 touchpads (to directly control DIM / MUTE / SUM) / loss of LCD display indicating input and output level meters and other infos right under the eye without having to switch from DAW to Apogee Interface / Fragile glass (ok Gorilla but still glass) that keeps fingersprint (like shown in your video 😅) / loss of midi port (which was very convenient when on the road with a midi keyboard to record ideas and few usb ports on macbook or ipad / iphone) the 2nd usb port being only here for external power supply option / gain 65db = -10db compared to older models at 75db (unless there's something i missed) / 100€ more expensive than former model (when it's no more made in the usa and not even in Mexico but in China!!!) / still no ADAT / Still hoping for a 2nd Headphones output (Come on, it's a DUET! 😀), I''ve been using at least a hundred times a split cable because i often use the duet to record someone so we need to be 2 to listen and it's a pain in the ... Add 2 dedicated mixes in the interface and voila! / Super expensive dock / ... and i think that's it.

    Not a fan of proprietary squid/breakout leads. If you lose/damage it your SOL. The dock should be included as standard but it's almost €200/$200/£175 (and fit in the case) because that is a great idea.

    I have the Apogee Duet 2, the RME Babyface Pro, and a sub $100.00 PreSonus Audiobox, it’s probably my 64yo beat up ears .. but I can’t really tell much difference between em playing back reference material through my studio monitors, so I’m assuming it’s probably not worth it updating my Duet 2 to a Duet 3?

    Well it looks like a solid piece of gear, but....i think anyone who is serious about recording will eventually if not start with gear that has more options and is not bound or made for a ipad. Though there are certainly people who have an ipad and want some device to do volume and have a few pre-amps, I would personally buy a laptop and audio interface with more channels, even if you are aiming to only record yourself, see this piece of gear is aimed at people who are younger if am not mistaken.. apple is expensive to begin with, the apogee duet 3 is also expensive... Pro users or semi pro users will not really have a use for this if they are not a songwriter. But a laptop will enable you to use a full fletched DAW with all the plugins you need, and a good interface with suficient pre-amps will enable you to record a drum kit... I don't see this being used by the gross of recording musician if am honest.

      Stability being the biggest factor.. apogee, ua, antelope, all have shoddy histories of support for their drivers. RME continues to support drivers for devices from the early 2000s.

    • @noiseconnector
      @noiseconnector 3 місяці тому +4

      @@SinclairSound First things first - getting UA, Apogee in the same line with Antelope is crazy. Besides - UA has like 10 years of building interfaces up their sleeves, so it's not great to compare. Apogee had some weird ideas in the past, but you still can use first Symphony on newest Macs.
      I've both had and used a few interfaces from Apogee, UA and RME and didn't had any problem with any of them (I know, happy me), so it's not an issue for me.
      I like how feature packed and thought out RME interfaces are, but for sheer audio quality - I would use other gear.

      You just mentioned apple, which means you are not understanding my point. These companies mentioned all rely on core audio in some form when dealing with apple products. In short, they really don't need to worry about the (and no pun here) core aspects of handling digital audio on the system. Unfortunately apple is not the only company making computers (not to mention legacy apple hardware). RME has objectively the most stable drivers on windows of the companies I mentioned. They also support hardware from literally 20 years ago.
      You can also find third party, objective test of conversation. There is very little difference at this level. In fact, given the objective test, it's not crazy to form the (subjective) opinion that a company like UA is charging a premium for access to their software.
      Many of them are sourcing their converters from the same manufacturers anyways.
