Mine 🤣
@@ohstudiousa Haha where are you?
@@Producelikeapro this is Andy Tullis Riverside Ca, I wish I had something worthy of showing off. Hopefully soon..... Thanks for asking Warren.
John Shanks
@@ohstudiousa one day soon my friend!
Shout out from the Monheim Mics family! Great tour, Joe!
Thanks ever so much!!
Thank you!!
You know you're a pro mixer when you get wrist pain from mousing 😂. This guy is awesome man. So informative and happy to share his advice.
Thank you Justin! Best wishes
Thanks Justin! Yes, Joe is awesome!
@@InTheMixJoeCarrell You Rock my friend!
Thanks for the tour! As an owner of an SRV-330 and SPX990 I'd love to see how you use those boxes in a mix. Cheers!
The 990 is set to symphonic. LOVE that patch! The 330 was set to 140 plate on one and 250 plate on the second one
Agreed Chris! Me too!
Very cool Joe!
Joe, I love that you love In-Step by SRV. When I was a kid, I'd listen to Riviera Paradise on loop. I loved it and still do. When I started mixing, I often used it for a reference track. One day I'll achieve that uber clean, but still vintage sounding recording. The reverb is some of the best I've heard outside of a cinematic Disney soundtrack.
Agreed amazing album!
I still watch in amazement. Completely effortless
Thanks for the tour Joe - Totally Awesome Studio!!!
Thanks! Joe rules!
Thank you!
@@InTheMixJoeCarrell You're very welcome!!
Thanks for shoing as your studio, Joe - I just want to sit in your seat and hear the sound.
Best from an old guy from Bavaria 👍
Thank you for watching!!
@@InTheMixJoeCarrell I thank you Joe!
... and thank you for your new great song that I/we can mix.
I hope we can get (in the future) more of your great multitracks 👍
Man, that's a DREAM mix room right there!
Thank you!
Thank you so much Joe (and Warren)!! Greetings from Seattle!!
Thanks ever so much Evan
Hello Evan!!
What a fantastic cozy atmosphere studio, Joe, thanks! Can you make a review of those mics clones?
Absolutely!
That a good idea!
Great studio! I love the chocolate-nerve-food-station! And I will copy the idea with the movable pedal-rack.
Haha yes, indeed
Thank you for watching! Have fun building that rack 👊🏼
I LOVE this channel for countless reasons but in this video... Joe's enthusiasm and sense for music history (matched only by Warren himself). GREAT setup and for the sake of nostalgia I'm enamored with Ronnie Milsap's two channel Neve console and Phil Spector's vintage Teletronix LA-2A! If you could interview those two pieces of outboard gear... you would have a New York Times best seller, WOW! AWESOME video!!! 🎹🎶🎸
Thank you for the kind words!
@@InTheMixJoeCarrell I've been in the music business for many years and I appreciate your humility! God Bless you!
Thanks ever so much Mr Music!
You Rock Joe!
@@Producelikeapro Thank you Warren, I truly appreciate you! 🎸
Yum! Chocolate and a rhythm section! 🤗
Love your enthusiasm Joe. Great trip thru your gear & snippets of life. Eric pinching the chocolates on the way out was perfect !
Hahah. We had a good time while he was here for sure. Thank you for watching!
About your line voltage purifier, to get clean current, it is a big SMPS (modern power supply) from (probably) 110V to 110v? but the trick is, they boost the current to a higher voltage, in Europe is that 400V and then back to, in your case, to 110V and filter out all dirt. I have those from Furman, 8 pieces. They run 24/24/7 I had to do maintenance on one, one day repair and back on track. So now I learned you something instead the other way, hehe.
Thanks ever so much for sharing that!
@@Producelikeapro and that's why those things are expensive, while most people think that is just a power inlet, and split into more power outlets. It's more advanced than some peeps think :) no thanks and cheers.
Thank you for watching!
Fair Warning is in my top 10 favorite albums of all time! It has a vibe unlike anything else. The guitar tones/songs/production are simply incredible. 🔥
One word…unchained. Holy moly. Thank you for watching!!
I notice, dark chocolate for a better low end
Haha ah yes! Much bigger low end!
70% or higher pure cocoa baby!!!
@@InTheMixJoeCarrell analog vibe and huge amount of saturation 👌🏻
Wow, this sets a new standard for my mixing goals

Haha, this was a great tour, Joe, thanks! The new desk looks great and love the heirlooms! Btw, which PCI-e expansion chassis are you using?
Wait..... Fleetwood Mac "Rumors" Picture.... in the Toilet.... after too much chocolate!?!? 🤣🤣🤣 sarcasm???
Great Tour... GREAT Equipment... Thank you, Joe 🤗
Thanks Joe! Good name! Ha
Ha! Thanks Joe
@@InTheMixJoeCarrell you're the man!
Oh Un le Joe, you're my hero! And the chocolate too!!!
Happy Sunday Pablo!
I never get tired of seeing this room! What are the approximate dimensions, and is there one favorite piece of gear you just can't live without? The Locomotive Audio units seemed to be pretty special from the way you described them...
Absolutely, those are very special boxes! I started with a 16 x 24 foot shell and by time I double walled and added booths the control was left at 17x15 feet.
@@InTheMixJoeCarrell Thanks Joe, especially for everything you give to the community!!
Cool studio Joe. You have some great presets on the Relab 480. No wonder, I didn't know you had the real deal. I really want the Bettermaker rack unit. I use the plugin more than any other EQ
I LOVE that passive eq sound in a solid state circuit. So tight!!
Marvellous! I really want to try the Bettermaker!
Very cool Joe!
You have such a Ted Lasso vibe and I’m here for it ❤
Hahah. I have gotten that before and still don’t even know who that is. But if it’s a good thing then 🎉🎉 Hahaha. Thank you for watching!
Great video Joe. I'm Canadian and wish I had a southern accent like you. 👍🏻
Hahaha. Thank you for watching!
Nice studio! Thanks for sharing a tour!!

You’re welcome Tom!
Fanbloodytastic video. Amazing studio setup Joe, right on man. Thanks very much Joe for the video and a great big thanks to the PLAP team. You all rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you Joey!
Wonderful tour video Joe. Great to see you going with the Adam Audio monitors, I love my A77H's. Such informative and open presentation from a great pro. Thank you so much.
I have a pair of those in the tracking room!! Fantastic speakers
Awesome room!
Thank you!!
Love it, thanks for showing us around! Where did you get the Cheap Trick, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Van Halen album posters? I love the framing and visual design of those. It would be great to get a few of my all time favorite albums hung up in the studio like that.
My team had those made as gifts! Not sure where but super thoughtful. I know it was an online thing
Roy Thomas Baker next? Ive got my dad's old reel to real too... a 3m Wollensak T-1980
Marvellous idea!
Napoleon Dynamite playing in the background 🤣
🎉🎉🎉
Haha Gosh
@@InTheMixJoeCarrell You Rock!
Joe, you need a "handshake mouse" to prevent wrist pain. I use one and it really helps.
I will have to Google that to see what that is. I have tried some others, but never found anything I was comfortable using. Try the magnetic bracelets!! They’re magic 🎉
NOT THIS GUY AGAIN!!! lol Just Joking .. WE ❤YOU JOE
Haha Joe is the man!!
@@Producelikeapro he definitely seems like a cool dude. Wish I knew him in real life
Hahah. Yes it’s meeee! Thank you for watching Shawn 👊🏼✌🏼✌🏼

Thank you Julian!
Great video Joe.. Love your mini video series you do with "produce like a pro". Quick question, where did you buy those ISO booth DOORS from, I would appreciate if you can provide that info.. I am getting my place build and I would love to get some doors likes that. I live in the SAN ANTONIO TX Area. Thank you in advance Joe !!
Thank you! Those doors were built by the contractor actually
Wow if I could only get my studio to contain that much gear I would NEVER leave the house. ❤😂
Like Joe, I am and will always be a hands on buttons, knobs and sliders man. I just do not gel or get the same feel with mouses and virtual.
Yes!! I LOVE real gear man. Software is amazing but a real VU meter is still one of the prettiest things I’ve ever seen 😂
Get in touch with Music City Acoustics for that vocal booth panel
I have the fabric and insulation and everything here. Just need someone to cut that frame down. I never have enough free time 😂
Do you have any contact for them?
@@Producelikeapro I do follow them on instagram
Waiting for my hdx chassis to arrive ,nice setup
Very cool. Congrats!
I’m definitely a choc almond 🤩

Thanks Joe! You Rock!
Rex Kwan Do! Excellent tour.
I soooo badly want to do a video dressed up with that voice and do a “mix Kwan Joe” series 😂
I'd hire ya just because of the chocolate 😉 Eric, great job videoing. Joe did you take Eric to ride around Nashville on one of those Pedal Bars? Too much work for me 😉
Haha nice! Me too
Hahaha we didn’t have time on this trip. But one of these days we’re going to book him for an extra day just to have a good time.😂
Love that you got the LA2A
Yes!!! That’s history for sure
This got my like mostly for those last few seconds 😂
Thanks for watching!
I'll get some chocolate asap! Cool video! Do i have to keep everything under the printer?
Do it! Or on top because I clearly misspoke 😂 we were so tired on that last evening he was here. Hahahah
Great stuff. Anything special about the chair? Does it help with lower back pain from sitting too long?
It does have an adjustable lumbar, but it was just some thing I found a pair of it Staples one day for a decent price when my last ones wore out 😂
Ah, ok thanks
Joe you need to check out Neuhaus Chocolates (from Belgium)
Would love to!
Delicious chocolates!
The Destressor and Duhstressor
Hahaha that’s a gag I do with console tape to Distressors all over Nashville 😂
My studio needs more lava lamps
Even three is not enough!
Always room for just ONE more 😂
Very cool room Joe. I may have missed it, but do you use a subwoofer?
I don’t anymore. These Adams have plenty of low end for stereo mixing So I sold mine. Of course, when I go Atmos I’ll have to add one or two again 😂
Joe is the best!! 😂
Thank you for watching!
you know anyone who can repair the SRV 330...I love them...the have a walker brother setting
Unfortunately, I don’t. Back then that’s why I bought four of them. They were awesome and very overlooked so pretty cheap too. I think I have two left. So many great patches in those things
Are you using your analog gear like the Fusion, Maag, or Poltec as an “insert” in Pro Tools on the busses?
Exactly. Hardware insert points on the patchbay
I was hoping for a Delicious Bass. Great video anyway!
I don’t own even one!! I have to hire people waaaay better than me 😂
@@InTheMixJoeCarrell Love the studio. Thank you for the tour.
Wow bro, your spot compared to my setup on a Scale of 1-100 is a 100 then my room is a 17 at most. Very inspiring. I am curious about the price of those Audio scape pultec units, I am about to replace my Warm WA2A with the audio scape LA2A style but was thinking about getting the Tegeler EQp pultech style unit which is a two channel unit for $1730. I’LL check the Tegeler site for pricing…is it safe to say there units are of better quality that the warm..!
I really like both companies and hate to take sides 😂 they do sound different though. I decided to keep my pair of in the mix room for stereo bus and I took my warm down to the Tracking Room for inserts on recording
What about the chairs in front of the main space? Always looking for a good chair to spend some serious time in.
If you mean the Non-guest chairs, they are something I picked up randomly one day at Staples office supply. I don’t remember the brand or anything.
@@InTheMixJoeCarrell thanks Joe! Always curious what people end up sitting in for hours on end. I’ve seen some chairs labeled as dentist chairs (look like fancy office chairs) and wasn’t sure if they were similar to what you had.
🔥
Thanks ever so much!
Try Green & Blacks choc. Beats Lindt in my opinion
Good to know thank you.
I would like to invite you to Lakes Country in MN. I have a standard home studio. I think people would be interested to see you guys record and mix a track on a real world set up. Come for the fishing and the water sports, make videos in the evening. Hit me up.
Joe, why don't you have a Santee Taylor in there yet? 😉
Man I want one so bad 😂 I have almost pulled the trigger three times in this last year and keep stopping myself
Napoleon Dynamite ❤ 😂
One of my favorite movies of all time 🎉🎉 I love to keep fun movies with outdoor summertime vibes rolling on mute just for mood enhancement
How much for the construction and treatment, not including gear? Thanks!
The studio has been there many years before Joe!
I’m not sure if he did the treatment though? Joe??
It was a lot! 😂😂 the room was already there so it was not a ground up build. I started by having the ceilings busted out for the extra heights and take them down to the studs so we could do the room within a room thing. It took way too long with the typical contractor craziness that always seems to be an issue. I never figured up exactly how much I spent but it was way too much per usual.
What's the best u47 clone that you used?
Hmmm. That’s a solid question. This signal arts is great enough that I’m content to stay out with it as the “go to”. I have not tried the Heiserman 47 yet but expect it would be top tier after hearing this 251 they make. On the affordable under a grand side, I’ve been impressed with some copies from warm and Advanced Audio.
Cool thanks!
I noticed you no longer have the Warm EQP-WA's....
I put one of them downtown in the tracking room
I’m really curious how much it costs, ballpark, to build out a room like that. Hear and things aside.
“Gear and decoration things aside “
It was way too much. I started the construction during Covid when lumber and building supplies went nuts. And the contractor I used honestly played games in the last half of the build going as slow as he could to bill as much as he could until he scored another job as a follow up. Getting a skilled but honest contractor is VITAL!!
Do you use analog summing?
There’s was an experimental summing box I didn’t speak about up on the rack. The manufacturer hadn’t committed fully to making it a product and didn’t want me talk about it yet.
@InTheMixJoeCarrell Is there an audible difference between summing ITB vs OTB?
@@kwalls3690 very good question!
@@kwalls3690 there can be absolutely. The amount of difference depends on the analog circuit that is doing the summing. The ITB mix buss of software like Pro Tools has very much improved over the years and I would never say that it’s “necessary” to go OTB for summing. However, if doing a lot of group treatment OTB It does make sense to limit the conversions as well. I wish I could remember the video title so I could point you there but our friend Marc Daniel Nelson did a video on the PLAP Channel a few years ago, demonstrating side-by-side differences of his mix summed ITB and going through an SSL summing box. We have SO MANY OPTIONS now with south great software and hardware options. It’s a good time in history for us mixers! 🎉🎉
@@InTheMixJoeCarrell Thank you for the insight!
I mean, two lava lamps?
That...is excess.
Hahahaha
Actually 3! Two orange and one blue 😂
@@InTheMixJoeCarrell
I missed the third one!
Best studio ever!
@@rjb7569 thank you!!
need more room to put arms on table for mouse and keyboard
There’s a pull out keyboard tray for that. Possibly it was pushed in during the video.
He loves his gear 😂
That’s a fact!!
There is no other chocolate. Only dark chocolate.
Yes!!
I'm wondering if Joe masters or just mix?
I really prefer to just record and mix. I have a deep appreciation for that little finishing touch that Mastering ads and I believe those guys that specialize in just that task are better than me.
Thanks for answering my question
There is all of the talk about whether you need hardware or if plugins are good enough. This has replaced the apple vs PC and digital vs vinyl debates. But imagine walking into that room just find a laptop and 3 microphones, BORING. Analogue is just fun irrespective of whether it sounds significantly superior. So, the real debate is whether your budget can justify it. My neighbour spent 30 grand on a jet ski. I can spend half that and have a good time analogue studio. Horses for courses.
Agreed 100%. Just the vibes of being surrounded by it is still important to me even on days where I’m mixing completely in the box for budget or turnaround time reasons. But luckily it all sounds AMAZING !
100% I love being surrounded by real amps, outboard gear, and instruments. I grew up on a laptop and softsynths. Could not imagine going back to programming guitars in Fl Studio.
Well so what I didn’t see is a patch bay. How does all that hardware get patched into fruity loops, 😂
There’s actually three in there. Two are on the floor rack of the left-hand side of the desk. Those service the I/O, monitor system, etc. The other is all the outboard in the desk and old reverb rack. The third patch bay is at the bottom, right hand side of the rack and services everything on that left-hand side of the room All are tt
@@InTheMixJoeCarrell Thanks Joe! You have a beautiful room
listening on headphones and Brutus thinks yinz ought to have highpassed at a higher frequency 😋
mostly I think he's just jealous of all your litty gear
Dang, Brutus could actually use a pair of hands! His white mittens are holding him back.

Yes sir I love hardware with all that I am. Great gear inspires me. Been collecting since the mid 90s so I’m proud of it of course. Best wishes
