Just wanna say - our MTH guy can sing and play! Great review! Have always admired Apogee. It has always been out of my pocket range, but I'm thinking about the Duet seriously again on the strength of this review). Thank you for everything that you do!
I'm still rocking the original DUET on Monterey. I have two of them. They sound amazing but still annoyed at the breakout cables. Been thinking of making a rack extension to replace the cables.
Thanks for the demo. I’ve got couple of questions: (1) Can you monitor the effects only during tracking without printing them to the DAW? (2) In the control software, an in addition to the apogee channel strip, can you add the other Apogee effects that you mentioned (Pultec, Clearmountain Spaces, etc) to the DSP FX while tracking for monitoring or printing? Hi MTHG! Firstly, love your videos. Just thought I'd let you know, YT is pushing your vids like crazy. I sub to over 800 channels and yet not only on my main feed page but also to the right of any video I'm watching, the majority of thumbnails and videos - and I mean over 90% of them - are all from this channel. I first noticed this two or three days ago. Great for your exposure but a tad annoying when I'm looking for something more random in my feeds. p.s. My original Mac Duet is still going strong a decade on. All the best to you.
Still no dsp reverb for tracking is a no go for me. Uad, Antelope, rme, merging all have a reverb for the singer to hear. Preamp and headphone outs sound great though if you don't care about that. Also I don't see anything limited a out this like better specs or anything. It's just a bundle with the dock and a few of the plugins.
Great review! My question would be the following: many of the functionalities you've showed/demonstrated rely on the Control 2 software which i understand you're running in a Mac; what about if I'm on an ipad pro (i use logic pro for ipad)? Thanks!

Hi.. awesome video... I've got a question if you don't mind... how does the pres and covertersbof the duet 3 compare to symphony desktop and antelope audio zen go??
I'd have to do like a true AB test with some different audio sources to compare. But IMO I really like the clean pres on the Symphony, Desktop and the Duet. I'm sure they are not the same. From what I've heard the Symphony IO is the best, the desktop version models that same preamp, but it's not 100% the same. Just from doing my speaking voice through both the Duet and my Symphony, I can't hear a difference. I will say that the Duet has VERY good preamps for a small format unit -- something like a Scarlett or another cheap interface doesn't even compare.
And just in my opinion, the Antelope Zen products are great, but the preamps are a little too hyped in the top end for my taste. One of the reasons I ended up buying the Symphony over the Orion.

Hello. Do I understand correctly that if I switch on the compressor at the recording stage, it will avoid overloading (clipping) of the signal during vocal recording?
This dock absolutely desecrates the design of the Duet itself. At thispoint, just build the ins/outs into the unit. OR OR OR, they could have simply put a bit of attention into the design. Huge fail from Apogee. Absolutely will never cop that dock.
Hear me out, you are on vacation but want to get some rough mixes done in your open back headphones. Undock the duet, now all you need is usb-c and your headphones. Very clean for mixing. Then you head home and redock it, EZ PZ
@@BHPOfficialI think the idea is great if they consider its first function portability, and I think that’s likely part of it. I just think there is no excuse for how clunky and ugly that dock is. Look at how beautiful the Duet 3 is, like truly, that’s pretty. They thought that was the dock that matched?!

Yes, you can do both with this unit.
Humm. I was expecting the DSP to also have reverb but it's just EQ and dynamics. Would be nice to have reverb on the headphones but not record it.

What is the difference between the normal version and the LE version?
LE is just a Duet 3 + dock bundled together.
