Just upgraded from the duet 2 to the symphony desktop yesterday. Looking forward to working with it. Nearly went for the duet 3 but decided to go up and we'll see if it's the right decision. I like apogee gear as it's probably the best stuff to use if you work in logic.
2 роки тому+1
I've had my duet 2 forever and i'm debating about making the same upgrade. Any updates yet?
Used and absolutely loved my duet 2 until a Mac update made it unusable. Was still considering it but then I saw all the cool gear rme makes and decided that my next interface will be an rme. Best driver's in the business.
I cant believe you didn't ask this guy what the hell is happening with the expected updates for the Symphony Desktop??? It was released a long long time ago and all the promised features are not available yet!! What about the overheating issue and that weird blank startup screen???? Get it together Apogee and stop selling products which are not ready!!
Despite their justifications, I still can't believe they don't have a DSP reverb plugin. I thought it came with one when I bought my Symphony Desktop. It's the one DSP plugin I would want to offload onto DSP for monitoring while recording an artist. Sure I could use the DAW, but that defeats the purpose of having DSP OTB. Every other DSP audio interface, including the ones from Steinberg have one.
Yeah it's weird. Even 200 dollar DSP interfaces have it. But luckily they have a system where you can buy (DSP) plugins which means that hopefully with enough complaints, a reverb will get added.
Can you do a video regarding Maschine, Native instruments plug ins , and different Mac computer set ups. To see how many plug ins you can run before you start getting Glitches. ? Or even other systems, to find what works best. Mac mini, Mack book pro, … etc
Does the duet 3 have better quality on vocals recordings than say something like the Apollo twin duo mk2 ? Or is the mk2 up there with symphony desktop?
Hi ...thanks for your video. I just bought duet3 and when I shift input from microphone to instrument ..... hear a clicking sound from the hardware of duet 3. I don't know if it should be there or not. ....?????? Please tell me whats that.
What is up with the instrument input on the duet 3 . Clipping already with gain on zero , with passive medium output pickup. with that pricetag I would expect this to not be an issue . It is totally worthless for the guitar player . I don´t give a sh.. for the clean preamps and conversion when it is not useable . Returning this unit .This guy just talks and talks , but no action
@@InspectorDope Really? A flex on silly audio interfaces ^^ No worries, I have 2 audio interfaces, 3 mixers and a Zoom mobile recorder that are all well-suited for their respective use cases. If I'd want a compact all-in-one solution I'd simply buy an Arturia Audiofuse or if there is a need for high-end I'd choose RME (though they are somehwat overpriced too). I just don't get the upselling of mediocre crap via design "bling". What's the point?
@@Xul you proved my point. You own low budget gear which is not a bad thing. Grammy winning records have been recorded on low budget gear. but until you tried or used a ASD. all yer doing is making an ASSumption based on on being jelly or just a hater.
I didn't "prove" anything. My gear ranges from high to low end (heck, judging from the stuff in your videos I'd even guess that my gear could be slightly more expensive, but it still wouldn't matter) and it doesn't change the facts about some random other gear that is discussed. An Apogee Duet 3 *IS* offering only low to mid range at it's core for inflated prices and accordingly it has worse reviews than competitors at the same price range who offer more (or compared to ACTUAL premium products, unless even RME is "budget" for you). These things are measurable and you can simply compare what devices offer.
@@Xul LOL I have Moogs behind me. be real now. and RME over Apogee? Yer clowning right now... And I was speaking mainly about the Desktop but since wanna speak on the duet. Apogee slaps RME. Any low budget gear today slaps what was used in the 70's 80' even the 90's. Yer judging and assumptions aren't fact by the way. 😉

No response :( 2 years later and I’m wondering the same thing
Can't wait for the new studio, great video!
Jack, Falcon great job.
Quality review cheers guys, evens money there is an apogee in the new studio ;o)
Apogee symphony desktop a very common breakdown is the failure of the input wheel, as it is very poorly fixed inside, be prepared for this.
Apogee = BEST !!!

For real? That’s crazy. What was the update. Did you try finding a solution.

Exactly, also what happened to duet 3 actually being compatible with windows?
@@Mope333 yes I was about to buy one until I started reading reviews on its issues.
That's why I'm rocking with RME.
Sadly, Apogee shit the bed with the Duet 3. Plagued with so many issues. Fortunately for me, the Duet 2 is still rock solid. A beast!

They do now. Make sure you update the firmware and hardware.
@@xhy20x Thank you for the update!
@@xhy20x it’s not DSP, their reverb has to run natively
@@jacksp8de It's still DSP Digital Signal Processing
Awesome gear got to get. Thanks!
How does this stack up against other brands for driver stability, gain, etc.?
Symphony Desktop vs RME UCX II is tough call

14:48 no reverb so sad
I dream in the old apogee quartet but updated with the symphony desktop technology. Please, do it. You can apogee people
hi , thanks , can you plugin 2 mics + 2 instruments at the same time ,as I'm looking for a 4 in for live ,thanks

Здравствуйте!Я знаю что в Apogee Symphony Desktop стоит цап ES9028Q2M ,но вот какой цап стоит в Apogee duet 3?
Question: Could I use one line out to send the dry guitar track to a reamp box then to an amp and back in the Duet 3? Thanks!
Yes, you can use the line out for reamping purposes!
Bonjour est il possible de faire ça master out 1/2 casque out 3/4 thank you
It all starts and ends with a filter.
;)
Gorgeous device with an atrocious looking dock.

its not worth 1200 bucks
Duet 3 is a POS, horrible software & internals overheat. Stay Away unless you want your equipment damaged.
Overpriced and underspecced. Also: form over function. But I guess that's what products look like when they are focused on Apple users.
you must own an M-Audio interface or nothing at all...
