James McAvoy's accent is amazing
ZachMaciel12 which one ;) |P haha
ikr hes so sexy
Rahul Brahmin someone is jealous
ZachMaciel12 McAvoy is so sexy his eyebrows are always like up you know? lol like a smolder
yesssss lol he's super sexy!
if he doesn't get an oscar i will protest it was the best acting I've seen since Heath Ledger as joker
Bob votava count me in
Bob votava yup
A movie that is released so early in the year will always be in the danger zone of being forgotten by the award people. I'm hoping they'll remember this for best lead actor and best cinematography but there's a big possibility they won't.
And let us not forget that the Oscars people are fucking idiots. Like I'm pretty fucking sure they didn't even see neither Nocturnal Animals or Silence for this years awards.
lyricsfromsweden I honestly don't think Silence shouldve gotten any nominations save for maybe cinematography. It wasn't that good sadly and I love Scorsese. Plus it technically came out in January same for Split so they'll likely get nominated next year.
And the Oscars really isn't bad, compared to an award show like the fucking Grammy's which is the absolute worst fucking shit in the entire world and an insult to music.
But the Oscars is somewhat decent, albeit not perfect as it is human opinion. Every movie nominated deserved to be nominated this year. I just hope they don't pull the Academy Awards move where La La Land won like 7 fucking awards when it shouldn't even though I definitely love the movie, it really didn't deserve so many wins.
I wouldn't even call this a horror movie. It's really just a suspense/thriller.
Yishai Thau yeah I said the same exact thing when ppl asked me was it a horror
Faye Sparks It wasn't scary at all.
some parts had horror aspects which is why they chose to classify it as a Thriller/Horror. But I agree with you, it should have been a Thriller/suspense. it classifies the movie a little better.
It's more like a mystery. lmao not horror and not even a thriller....
The ending was scary. I was on the edge of my seat hoping Casey will make it out alive
"Am i a good kisser" and Hedwig dancing killed me. I really love this movie seen it twice already
I have red socks.. and etc.
TorkGirl8 I just ate a hot dog
Brian Thomas you might be pregnant now
Hailey W. that line was hilarious
Etcetera
Anya's accent is so fucking bonkers. It's like standard Midwestern American mixed with a hint of British and here and there a Spanish twang. I love it.
Levi Everaerts One of her parents is from Argentina!
her father is scottish-argentinian and her mother british-spanish
She speaks spanish with a flawless argentinian accent.
she was born in Miami. Raised in Argentina and then in the UK. English is not her mother tongue. She can use or mix all the accents easyly.
I just saw this movie and loved it. McAvoy really is the beast. I think Split is M.Nights best movie
HeikkiP i don't think it's as good as Sixth Sense, but i think it's as good as Signs.
honestly in my opinion sixth sense is my least favourite of all the great M Night Movies
1. Unbreakable
2. Split
3. Signs
4. The Sixth Sense
5. The Visit
6. The Village
7. Lady in The Water
8. The Happening
7. After Earth
8. The Last Airbender
HeikkiP I agree it was especially good when he was like"rejoice you are pure" when he was trying to open the bars to the cage
HeikkiP unbreakable and the sixth sense is better.
Mariam Diakite loved that part....because she was "broken" she got to be saved....ha...go figure.
Dennis took the light at 7:37
Haha
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA XD
11:37 hedwig was about to steal the light and dance with her casey, but-
XD
Isn’t that he drink her water?
god damn she kissed James Mcavoy
Anni Psy yes i am jealous...😢
It wasn't much of a kiss lol
Pete Zahut no matter, im not picky, i'll take what i get lol
She actually kissed hedwig
IM SO JEALOUS 😭😭😭😭
James McAvoy slays in this. i was grinning from ear to ear almost the entire time XD
I know I was in awe of how amazing he was at performing such a deep character. this movie was very dark for a pg-13 I have to say. the material was just very depressing
Yeah, I hope this leads to lots of opportunities for him. He deserves to be more than just the "No, not Captain Picard, the OTHER guy" guy.
I was kinda getting butthurt by the lack of people that didn't know the twist at the end. Like I instantly was going nuts when the ending came. It was like a nod by M night to his fans but damn the lack of people in the theatre that didn't get it pissed me off. Some were even were like oh they are making a sequel about another villain that is mentioned at the end. I am like....no.....god.....
Yea the same as unbreakable. It's a really depressing story. SMH when i see people having no sympathy with the main character....
In both unbreakable and Split. Both of them are victims made into villains. Which is a re occuring theme in M night movies. Really great message in it and really hits deep for people that can relate to.
i was one of those people sadly i never watched unbreakable so i was confused and honestly at first just annoyed because of a random bruce cameo out of no where especially since bruce has kind of gone down hill in the last few years. However it got me to finally watch unbreakable so either way people will appreciate it if not at first. While people like you get a nice aha moment, people like me get to experience a whole new movie in the process.
Hard to find an interviewer competent like this one ..good job
Yehia Abdelrahman yes but his voice is annoying 🙃
This is how to be a great interviewer. This guy gets so much out of everyone, well done.
Shyamalan seems like a really chill, down to earth guy
Night always cool head dude .. The last hairbending was pretty offended poor asian american population to core .. And Trying pulling his legs in every damn movie ....
James didn't realize he's drinking Anya's water, his own mug is on his left =P
I read the comments just to see if anyone else noticed this hahaha
+Lucas Rocha lol you noticed it too right!
15:27 haha
omg I just read ur comment right after it happened lolol
In Scotland the mugs are on the right.
We are getting some non-garbage movies in January this year. 2017 is going to be a great one!
Can you recommend some? Split is a must-see movie, hope you like it as much as me
honestly split is the only good movie were getting this January so far
trainspotting 2
Hopefully it doesn't jinx the 80s sequels we are getting later in the year.
can't wait to go back to this comment and be like YOU WERE RIGHT
James McAvoy. Yum.
kara bella ew.
+Pussy Thrasher because "pussy thrasher" isn't ew.
kara bella when James look at Anya is like oh my god Anya is so cute
21:35 McAvoy is being Dennis, because every time he was Dennis he would raise his eyebrow lol. But any who the film Made me so anxious but i love that because it kept me on edge, it was nothing I expected. This is such a great interview ! getting a directors and cast insight from the film.
Alexa Q Agreed! I do think that he was being himself for Dennis' character a little bit with an addition of being a little more sinister! I loved this movie, too! He made my friend and I scream during those intense scenes in the basement like the psychiatrist scene (you know what I'm talking about) and the chase scene with Betty haha
but yeah, his personalities in the movie definitely comes out sometimes when you see him talk; I saw a little bit of Barry come out in one of his other Split interviews lol
XxxMuseluverxxX oh my gosh yes! One particular scene made me jump 😂 I got anxious at one point but I felt like I was there so he's such a great actor. I just think of his character with certain looks he does.
OMG I WAS THINKING THE SAME THING
"You shouldn't trick children."
"That shows who you are..."
12:27 James, I think you are defining "actor chemistry" right now. You're saying you and Anya have chemistry! Which they both do and I'm glad he recognizes it :D
Etcetera...
hahaha
kane Fatima "Etcetera" is going into the book of movie quotes, I swear
Lol, I've been saying that a lot over the last couple days since I saw the movie. And other random stuff, like "I have red socks."
I ate a hot dog
kane Fatima lol
Did anyone notice how James looked like he transformed into Dennis at 21:40
Greg Draughn yeah
Dennis took the light
11:37 the way James dances cracks me up
Anya is so gorgeous!!
James McAvoy KILLED it. I absolutely loved this movie and have seen it twice in theaters already!
Side note... I wanna see a close up of Anya's shoes lol
Brooke Danae screenshot and zoom in, thank me later (don't forget to turn on your brightness)
Thank you! :)
Brooke Danae Right? As wendy williams says we need a shoecam for those shoes!
Exactly! :)
Brooke Danae this is the type of movie u NEED to see twice to get evrything. Love it
I saw this yesterday and I was the only person in the theater! I had it all to myself, they played the film for me and it was the most incredible experience I've ever had at the movies. It was fantastic, amazing, perfect. I *LOVED* the movie too! I don't know how I can move on from this; I've never seen a film (until now) where the audience was acceptably quiet and considerate. Moviegoers suck here in the Philippines. I'm sorry the theater was empty because it's such a good film but I'm selfishly glad.
My Chemical O's I was by myself when I saw Don't Breathe do the fist time and I'm so happy I was. That shit was suspenseful.
James Stegens No way! Man, people skip out on such good ones. Lucky you :)
***** That's unfortunate but kinda funny. :D Like having someone pee next to you when there are 36 other vacant stalls, hah
i saw it at midnight show and the studio is almost full, but kinda sad when not even half of the audience understand how big the ending was *sry for my English
Aski Pratama Eh, nobody expected it and not everyone knows about the character at the end. It was long over a decade ago, I wouldn't be surprised :)
26:41 cutest moment
I was amused by the conversation about how close the actors were with the film crew. James in fact met his future wife on the set. She was M. Knight's personal assistant.
Did you think i had a real window?........so you could escape?......etcetera
JTundra "It's not a toy...Dennis doesn't know I stole it....pretty cool right???"
Clemsonjacob _ LMAO kanye is my main man im just like mmm mmmmhhmmm yea mmhmm
Cranz were you wearing blue socks?
Cranz good
JTundra I was crying laughing when the girl woke up and hedwig was just lying on top of her. I couldn't stop laughing
**gasp** "You like Kevin now!?"
Very insightful answers from Shyamalan. Thanks
yes he's a very intelligent director
right! i love how detailed he was about his process, i always love hearing these things from writers and directors but it's so rare that people take this much time to explain thoughtfully.
Emily Leschhorn I was impressed by the technical detail about camera angle choices. I rarely hear interviews with Night, and you can tell he's passionate about the film making process that might go over us Plebeians heads...
Tafami Right!?! I will always like M.Night I understand his movies & he has always thought outside of the movie box 😉
This is Shyamalan's best movie so far. Usually I hate the way his movies end, so WTF. But this one made total sense AND had the connection with one of his previous movies. Mc Avoy is superb in this role, I hope he gets nominated for something.
O Eleito how do you feel about the ending of Glass
Bless James McAvoy and Ana Taylor Joy
You can tell Night really wanted to get back to his roots. I don't know what happened to his filmmaking the past few years but Split is a refreshing return to form. And hearing him speak, you can tell he's been thirty for a good project again
11:37 When he made that face it brought me back to sitting in that theater, watching him as Hedwig.
I think I'm in love with Anya Taylor-Joy.
Logan Edgemon Dude same, it hurts.
So is James
Kiriaki Diamanti nah it’s kevin
me too
Samee
I just finished watching this movie and oh my god, fucking amazing. James' performance left me in awe, but I'd also like to point out Anya Taylor-Joy's how great her acting was!
McAvoy quickly became an acting favorite of mine after seeing Filth.. Since then, I've caught every film he has starred in and with each it served to increase my admiration through viewing his exceptional gifts as an actor in different and dynamic roles. His performance in Split was simply marvelous.
15:28 James drinking from Anya's cup hahahahahaha
Yes maybe he thought it was his water started from 7:35 for the first drink so....
Oops😂😂
McAvoy deserved an Oscar for this role, for sure.
I'm pretty sure if Casey and Kevin were the same age, everyone would ship them
I kinda shipp it tough... Lol, i know it's wrong
I totally ship them!! Especially after seeing glass. I also ship them in real life and I know he has a girlfriend and she is engaged I think And there’s 15years+ between them but I can’t help it, I want them together so bad
@@sophiewong9588 They really match eachtother...
Angela Baptist even if they’re not the same age a lot ships theeeeemmmmm
@@sophiewong9588 what the hell
Great movie. James McAvoy is an amazing actor!!
anya is only 20 i think and so well spoken, incredible!
Night made me want to be a director; Just from the way he describes the craft, wow.
Also, not really but I have a new appreciation for it.
Split is the perfect thriller. M Night's best work in years.
7:05 god bless James McAvoy for that
Did you notice at moment 11:03 the way James looks at Anya ooooh god.
He is looking at her hands gesture lol
James is in love with her 😊😘
@@smailousmailou8155 he's happily married but keeps it private
My husband looks at me like that all the time lol
JAJAJAJAJAJAJAJAJA AMAZING
m. night is actually dropping some great story telling gems.
Nobody's talking about how FREAKING ANYA-JOY IS A GODESS, AMAZING, AND MUST BE PROTECTED AT ALL COSTS
Bruh
I hope Casey (Anya Taylor-Joy) gets a superpower in Glass.
She does. Her powers are her "heart is pure" and she's "different from the rest" .
You know while watching Glass I was hoping the same thing and I hope she does in future films
10:25 That laugh though 😂😂😂
That moment when you realize that the girl who had the birthday's father isn't dead and has to cope with his daughter being dead.
That movie poster almost gives it away, with the Beast being the biggest shadow. Anyway, Hedwig's dance, I laughed awkwardly at it first, my younger brother (17) was cracking up but I slowly got more and more uncomfortable and was like "umm... I love Hedwig but he's scary."
Alyxwrites ikr
I love James McAvoy and Anya Taylor-Joy 😍 they have a cute friendship lol
That dance scene is sort of disturbing, because of the context. There's so much tension there and the weirdness of the dance just adds to it instead of making it like haha-funny. It's so great.
This interview was fucking great - thank you for asking proper questions!!
7:34 - 7:50
Watch his eyebrows - he transforms into Mr Dennis.
That moment when you realise it's 38 minutes long...
*James McAvoy is one of the best actors...but who gives a shit about the Oscar?*
*It's just a piece of gold...doesn't mean anything.*
True he's already proven he's an amazing actor he doesn't need a gold statue , nowadays people get Oscars for nothing, they have become meaningless
The interviewer was very good. He asked interesting questions, not the pointless bullshit so many other interviewers ask.
I was listening to this interview while doing something else, and I genuinely thought that I heard McAvoy's Hedwig character's voice, and when I looked at the screen it was Shyamalan talking...
I ship James and Anya ❤️ !!!
Me 2
Same!!!
They are almost 20 years apart when she was an infant and he was an adult
@@Cat_banana69 She was 20
X10000
when the doctor were in tear when she finally spoke to character was in charge.. one of the best scenes in the movie.. and that movie has a lot of good scenes.
Is it just me or does someone think that the was James looks at Anya is quite sexual? I know there's a massive age gap but I can't help but notice that he's acting as if he really admires her and she clearly finds him attractive
She’s 22 and he’s 39
Well i ship em
They were both excellent in the movie, so when they have eye contact it feels kinda creepy.
@@stephanieortega4404 older men and young women projecting their own daddy issues and midlife crisis onto them all the time, never felt anything with these two
Helen Williams I mean it is James Mcavoy like who doesn’t find him attractive
Anya looks better with black hair imo
Hazabigtoe Yea that's what I was thinking too.
Hazabigtoe yes
Well, she's lovely either way but yes, the dark hair draws focus to her eyes and she has the kind of eyes that draw you in and make you care - an invaluable asset for a suspense actress.
Britt S agree
Gorgeous in either color imo
Anya and James were *amazing* actors in the movie
M.Night was staring at Anya hard af like " bitch say some slick shit bout my movie I swear to gawd"
wut
James dancing was the cutest thing ever!!! 😍😍
I learned a lot watching this interview. I loved the movie.
Very good interviewer. Love his enthusiasm and energy for movies.
Betty didn't even talk until 15:13 lol
M. Night was cool, because he saw that too, and after the first audience question he made sure Betty is the first one to answer.
And when they asked about the Happening she did her best to avoid it xd. Shes great.
Yes I noticed his deference to Betty too, nice person
I loved Hedwig. The dancing he does when he goes into his room is so funny
I'd stayed away from this film because I thought it was going to be Saw-esque. I'm so glad I got told "Go see it!", the film is brilliant! Xxx
I really shipp Anya and James so bad
Me too! 😍 Wish there were more fan made videos. Hoping they get to co-star in different movies alot more 😉
Look at how James looked at her at 11:05 DAAAAAAAMN
Oh my gosh I thought I was the only one thank god I'm not the only one!!!
Yesss
Your not aloneeeeeee🥰
James McAvoy is Kevin's 25th personality, etcetera
James mcavoy is so handsome & an amazing actor. 😍
Some may say it's too early, but after seeing this and The Visit I feel that easily M. Night is back!
Anya Taylor joy is so beautiful
James drank from Anya's cup ahahahahahahaha
Mr. Blue wtf does your random creepy comment have to do with either the video at large or her comment in general?
The thirst.
@ShAdOwMaN 😂😂😂😂
Did I just saw James drink from Anya's mug? @ 9:03 oopps sorry I'm shipping them too hard 😂
XD
I LOVEEEE THEM!😍😍😍 GOD BLESS YOU FOR THIS!❤️❤️❤️
15:28 Did James drink from the wrong cup? Lol
Angie L lol I probably would too. I tend to put all of my stuff to the right, and I probably would have grabbed her cup instead of my own on the left
He drinks Anya's cup wtf he's in love with her😂
I just saw the Split, and when James was looking at Anya @11:25, I must admit it felt kinda creepy, even though they look so much different from their characters.
M. Night Shyamalan...love his style. Really respect him as a writer and director.
Welcome back M!
Great Interview. Etcetera.
I saw Split yesterday and it was amazing, thoughtful and brilliant. By the way I saw the Filth at least four times, and it is really one of the best films and characters James plays in. Greetings from Hungary!!! :)
Anybody else want to see a movie that focuses on the backstory for James' character Kevin? I would love to see how his alters came to be. I haven't watched Unbreakable before, but apparently a young Kevin can be seen in the movie with his abusive mother.
Best performance by James mcavoy so far. Did not expect this from him.
15:28 James drinks from Anya's mug
Wow! That was a very well-articulated interview (by everyone). The movie was great too.
James
M. Night is a genius!
James McAvoy's acting.....RESPECT...
James McAvoy should do sudden changes of his personalities each time during the interview to freak out all of them.
Her eyes are far apart but she is still so pretty
JTundra it's true tho, she have said it herself
JTundra I know. Her hair being blonde makes the space wider
Harrystylesunicorn Dragon wtf?
she really is
To me, she looks better with dark hair.
James Mcavoy is so funny & I feel the same His last character is the happiest because I feel he's The Protector of everything pure The pure are the broken, the shattered, the hurting, the ones no one loves & no one helps
gosh i learned so much about the process and thought behind writing and producing movies from this
This might be the best movie I've ever seen
Anya looks like that hybrid from Splice but she's a beauty
Betty seems so positive :)
when people ask questions and go "um...umm........ummmmm....ummm"
WHAT HES SCOTTISH
He is.
Aye
Alexandra Lynn +Jon Snow. I've got to disagree. I'm born and raised from Nottingham and we have a wonderfully crazed dialect. Samantha Morton is from Nottingham yet whenever we see her in films that don't require a specific dialect, she puts on 'A British' accent. James puts the same accent on for one of his personalities in this as well as for many other characters he plays, including Professor Xavier.
'A British accent' is one that is used to identify a British character whose back story doesn't define which country in the U.K. (or which town within those countries) they're from. I think most actors in drama school are taught how to do 'A British accent' so that when Rene Zellweger, Marion Cotillard, Michael Fassbender and Russell Crowe play characters from this 'area of the world', they all have that accent...although it personally annoys me when characters from the city of London are supposed to have this accent. They don't.
No one in Britain has this 'British accent'; it's manufactured to remove an actor's identity xxx
I know right i dint know either, i thought he was british
Ah, you are just at the start of your James McAvoy journey. It will only get more Scottish the further you go.
I really liked Anya Taylor-Joy in Queen's Gambit. She rocked, and that's when I realized what an amazing actress she is. This was the first time to see James McAvoy (that I know of), and he did a phenomenal job in Split. Both are incredibly talented.
