  • See how to swap, remove, & install a control module unit without dealer programming. If your ABS, ESP, or ETC, traction control light is on, then replace this to restore your anti-lock brakes. Common troubleshooting codes include C1001, 5001, or N47-5. Please 👍 & Subscribe 🔔. Click on SHOW MORE for all tools & parts. 👉
    Before replacing this Anti-Lock Braking System or Electronic Stability Program control module, first see if you can save some money 💲 and instead clean the ABS connector or do a deeper clean and clean the actual control module. As the CAB unit may just be dirty as well as the connector. Both of those vides can be viewed here:

    This is being done on a Chrysler Crossfire however this is very similar to other Mercedes cars. This video will also show you a trick on how to get the Control Module out as the external bolts are hard to get to on the controller module and a regular ratchet can't be used.
    Also very important to avoid going to a dealer for programing just buy a used model with the same model number.
    These are all the tools 🧰 you will need to gather:

    👉 Ratchet Wrench 1/4" amzn.to/3eme6rd

    Question. The warning isnt on anymore, but I did the quick clean anyhow....took it to autozine and the code was there (but I dont think it was removed) so if I clear the code then see if it comes on after the cleaning?

      Yes clear the code, and see if it comes back on.

    United Kingdom and other places with similar weather! Beware, on 17 yr old XKR the controller was corroded onto the hydraulic module and separating it pulled one of the solenoids out of the module rendering it unrepairable.

      Good to know that this doesn't work on a Jaguar car. This works on a Mercedes though or at least ones like these.

    Hi. I have a mercedez 2009 w204 kompresor.
    I was told that if i buy a used abs module i will need reprogramming even if the part numbers are the same.
    But your video above says i do not need reprogramming as long as the part numbers are the same.
    Pls confirm if using used abs module with same part number will not require programming.
    May i also ask when will i need programming?

    • @FixCarYourself
      @FixCarYourself  2 роки тому +1

      I don't think a used model needs to be reprogrammed as I swapped out a used one with identical information (as mentioned in the video), and I did not have to do any reprogramming. Other websites have said the same thing where reprogramming is not necessary. However, I did use a scan tool to wipe away any codes from the used model.
      I'm guessing the repair shop is using the word "reprogramming" in a different sense. As the only thing that needs to be done IMO is to reset or wipe any codes using a decent scan tool after installing and testing the vehicle.

      It could be. Maybe swap a used one. Also make sure your fuses are good. And also use a code reader to confirm any other codes you may have to help narrow down the problem.

    Hello, I have my C300 w204 flash all lights on the dash on and off whtile driving, and whenever it's on the Brake, ESP, blaa blaa blaa will be showing, and even my speedometer will seize to function. it also goes away intermittently, they said I need to change the ABS, please your take on this

    • @FixCarYourself
      @FixCarYourself  Рік тому

      Something like this a code or a bunch of codes would pop up on a code reader. So you'll want to use that to narrow down the exact problem. If you don't have a code reader its cheap online for $10 to $20, and you just pop it in the car's OBD which is under the steering wheel or lower dash.

    So if I buy another used w205 esp module I don’t need to program it. Their is no vin stored in it from other car. ? My c class is 2015

    • @FixCarYourself
      @FixCarYourself  11 місяців тому

      No vin is stored. But double check online. Perhaps others can chime in on this. You should use a code reader to delete any codes that are on the used one.

    Do you think I need to program a used abs module I know you said a used doesn’t need reprogramming but I have 07 s550 (w221) and it seems everything is different then other classes

    • @FixCarYourself
      @FixCarYourself  Рік тому +1

      I can't speak for all models but if its an exact replacement just resetting it with the code reader (meaning erasing codes on the scanner) generally does it. It's kind of like restarting a computer.

    So what problem this solve ?? Will it work on a 2004 Mercedes Benz clk 500 ??

    • @FixCarYourself
      @FixCarYourself  2 роки тому

      Removing and replacing the ABS Control module can help restore your traction control ( this will make your brakes pulsate for example like when your sliding on snow/ice, and potentially help stabilize your vehicle).

    • @FixCarYourself
      @FixCarYourself  2 роки тому

      I would think this would work on a Mercedes CLK as the components are all very similar between Mercedes vehicles. Please let us know if you replace yours, and/or your experience.

    • @FixCarYourself

      I'm not sure. This was on a Mercedes vehicle under 2005. So ten years later (2015 model). It would probably be different.

      @@flaco7146 Ok. Usually when a spark plug is bad their will be rough idling and I think possibly even a higher amount of smoke. Hook it up to a code reader to narrow down the cause. Also It's also possible you may have to clear the codes. Changing spark plugs usually isn't difficult just make sure you have the right tools and of course the right supplies.
