      As a 9 the most important thing is hitting the fairway. Nice job.
      A 9 will hit 50% of greens from 150 but only 35% from the rough at 140.

      I have not. I only try balls when I find them on the course and I have never come across one yet. One ball that I have been finding is the Vice Pro Plus. This is another ball that I notice I don't lose that much. For some reason they seem to fly straighter with my driver. I also really like the way they check up on the greens. One thing I noticed is on bump and runs with the vice pro plus is the ball will check more than the straightfli, but I think the sraightfli is a little straigher off the tee which keeps the penalty strokes down.

    I got a box of Nitros. Was expecting to lose them all by now, still have around 20 after a year. I only use them at one course that has a high probability of me losing balls. Nothing like having a forced carry with OB behind the green, or OB behind the green, or just forced carry. Sounds like a redesign is in order...lol
    The ones I play most are Srixon Soft Feel. I've got some Volvik Vivid, which is like hitting a chunk of ice and 2 boxes of Bridgestone X (red). I have a few TayloMade stripes for putting practice.

    I'm still a big fan of the Vice Pro as it appeared to me a very consistent ball. But for a cheaper ball the zip was not far off.
    I've mentioned before, have you tried the Piper balls which they recommend fit based on handicap? Which does not make sense as you could be a 20handicap and have a 110mph swing speed. I tried the Blue(sub $30 3piece) and they worked great for me on course versus a pricier Callaway. I literally watched the ball straighten in the air.

I saw a club champion video where they had Max Boucher hitting them and there was minimal difference with Pro V1s. I finally ordered some and I have a local simulator place with a Trackman. Been about 20 years since I last played as a kid and picked up the game again this past year. Bought a hodge podge of used balls to see what I liked, always noticed I wasn’t losing Wilsons at the same rate as the “best” brands. Didn’t know if it was just a placebo effect like trying to not f*ck up w the “good balls” (Titleist, Callaway, etc) or if the Wilsons were actually legit. Thought I was crazy for noticing till I saw the Todays Golfer robot video and your reviews. Thanks for confirming bro

      I push to people all the time how important a good for giving golf ball is. Even myself, I've been using tour balls lately, mainly the pro V1 since my work provides them for free and I have so many of them. The other day I was struggling hitting the irons pure and man every time I miss hit it I lost about 15-20 yards. When the round was over I realized my mistake. Having that forgiveness is such a big key for so many golfers

    Which performs better, Cut Red vs. Maxfli Straightfli vs Kirkland?

    • @GolfBallAddict

      Cut red wins out in performance, straight fli has better durability, and honestly the Kirkland ball tested terrible for me

  • @scottdean27
    @scottdean27 6 місяців тому +1

    I have played the Cut Red some and found its performance to be good. It’s cover durability I found to be excellent which is interesting as the Cut Blue and Cut Grey cover durability is very poor. Then, I too had a Cut Red cover actually crack on me. When I noticed the first crack, I also noticed the second crack on the same ball. I never noticed a crack on other Cut Reds, but it might be possible to overlook these cracks if you do not check your ball over carefully on the green or the next tee. The cracks were about an inch long and about twice the width of a human hair. I could definitely see, feel, and get the tip of a fingernail into it a bit. Disappointing, but not a deal breaker if it only happens to say, one ball out of a couple dozen? Hopefully Cut corrects this, but they have never corrected the awful cover durability on the Blue and Grey and that’s been the case for probably four years or more. Nick, check over your Cut Red at every tee. I don’t hit it that hard and I cracked one in two places and I can only reach the shortest par fives in two once in a while, so I am not a powerful golfer.

    • @GolfBallAddict
      @GolfBallAddict  6 місяців тому +1

      Thank you very much for the feedback. I think I agree that with the value, even if a couple of the cut reds are cracked, you're still getting them for a dollar a golf ball. Some people would be willing to lose a couple of golf balls in exchange for what you get with the cut red

    I typically just shoot whatever I find, and hopefully I find more than I lose. Recently, my stockpile has shrunk to only a few left, so I found on Amazon 75 Kirkland Signature (recovered), which is basically just pond balls cleaned up, for $25. Here' my thing. Let's say I go out and shoot some bargain ball ball and shoot 100. If I had a Pro-V1 instead of the bargain ball, can I expect less strokes, and how many? I'm not convinced that spending $3 a ball will get me under 100. Maybe a pro can take advantage of the performance of a nice ball, but I know I can't. Was it the ball's fault I 3 putted? Was it the ball's fault I shanked one off the tee box and had to hit a provisional? I'm losing strokes because I still blow my swing like I just learned to play yesterday. Until I can hit more consistently, the last thing I am spending any serious money on is balls. These Kirklands are going to be just fine for me, I'm sure.

    • @GolfBallAddict
      @GolfBallAddict  Місяць тому +1

      You are on the right track. I would say half correct. One of the biggest values we have on the channel is how most golfers need a two piece forgiving golf ball, and not these unforgiving tour balls everyone seems to think you "have" to play. So you are 100 percent correct in that part of the analysis. Shanks and three puts are the golfers fault.
      However, what about the shots you DO hit well? Are they forgiving? Are they compressing? That is the question. My advice for most golfers is to play a very well made 2 piece with forgiveness on miss hits and side spin.
      The problem i have with the Kirklands, is that they tested horribly. I lost 30 yards with the driver and they spun waaay too much.
      My advice, once you burn through those, check out my top 10 golf ball list. There are golf balls on there that are an amazing value and could probably shave strokes off your game.

    What are your thoughts on second hand ball websites? Any value there?

    • @GolfBallAddict
      @GolfBallAddict  7 днів тому +1

      Honestly I would rather people just play a cheaper golf ball. There are a lot of direct to consumer golf balls you can get for $30 a dozen for a three-piece or $15 a dozen for a two-piece. All that perform really well.
      My issue with the second handball websites is you don't know what's happened to the golf ball. How many rounds has it been played? Has it been sitting in water? Also a lot of the time they end up being fake.

    Seriously, how good of a player do you have to be to feel/know the difference? I mean when your swing is so inconsistent, how do you know if it is the ball or you? I'm currently a 14-HC and I'm eligible for social security. I almost never buy new balls. I do like Titleist, Srixon, Bridgestone and Callaway (striped). I typically buy them on e-Bay (AAAA - don't buy AAAAA, they are the same balls.) I buy 3 or 4 dozen at a time and rarely pay more than $1 a ball. I was buying new Vice balls (discounted at 5 dozen, but their prices shot up). I did buy the cheapest version of the Vice balls and played some crap rounds - again -- me or the ball? I found a Maxfli TriFli (Shamrock on the ball) recently and played well with it. I bought 2 dozen at GG for $35. Been playing some solid golf recently with them.

    • @GolfBallAddict
      @GolfBallAddict  5 днів тому

      Good question. So I would say most mid handicappers and lower can tell the feel of different golf balls. The thing is, there have been a few people lately who come on this channel and assume I am saying that by playing a better golf ball it will make you better. I can promise you that has never been said.
      The reason someone would still want to play a golf ball suited to their game, is because it can indeed shave strokes off. For example, every single round I play with a Wilson zip or a snell get some, I always shoot three to four shots better than I do with a pro v1. Why? Because I get forgiveness on the Miss hits with the other two. Instead of pitching into the green by losing 20 yards off of a miss hit, I only lost five and I'm still putting. Big difference. There are a lot of other little factors in there as well, they don't make you a better golfer if they can definitely help limit some of the issues you have.
      Another example would be side spin with the driver. I knew a guy who had a tremendous slice, so I always made him play with two piece golf balls to limit the amount of side spin. Yes either way he was terrible at keeping the ball straight, but one golf ball allowed him to still stay and play while the other one was out of bounds.

      I'm not super upset overall, I guess the reason I'm not as mad at the lesser models is because they can still be had for great value compared to other golf balls in their market. Two for 30 is one of the cheapest you can get around. The tryfly as well. However with the tour balls going up $5 every single year for the last 3 years. Does that mean next year they'll go up again? Is it going to be two for $75 or two for $80? Because at that point there will be multiple golf balls that are less expensive than that that offer the same performance if not better.

    I'm disappointed to see that you list Cut Red to be the #1 ball. Not sure whether you have actually played it. I had the worst experience with Cut red. 4 balls out of one box cracked on impact (my club head speed is 90 - 95 mph). Quality is just unacceptable. I have never seen any other golf ball crack like this, and of course, I swear I will never play the Cut balls even if they are given to me for free.

      Thank you for your comment. Please allow me to give a timeline of the cut red from my channel's perspective.
      April 6 2022: I do a full length review on the cut red. The numbers tested are some of the best I've ever had on the channel. With an amazing value score as well. Quickly becomes a number one favorite of mine as well as others on the channel.
      August 2023: I start receiving feedback from multiple subscribers and viewers that the cut read is cracking and breaking after one hit. I test a few of the leftovers i saved, but cannot replicate any cracking.
      December 2023. I still put cut red on this video. But I've still received tons of feedback the newer balls are cracking. I tried to reach out to cut for comment. No response.
      February 2024. I purchase new cut reds and the durability is horrible. Due to the drop in performance, the cut red is left out of my top 15 of my top 100 countdown.
      Going forward, there will be a re test with full review done. If they can't figure out the disability issue, it most likely will receive a negative review.
