    This video is WONDERFUL! I have watched videos on tatting with a shuttle and persist in dropping the shuttle to the floor. I have watched videos on tatting with a crochet hook and didn't grasp that either. I've also watched videos on needle tatting with hand cramps. That is until I discovered yours. Now it makes sense and I'm doing it! I did't want to spend PHP 2000.00 to purchase a set of tatting needles to end up having them live in the bottom of a bin in my sewing room. So I decided to get creative. I printed a bodkin with some slight modifications. My first was about 5mm thick. Because I was having sooooo much difficulty grasping the concept, I decided to use this bodkin with worsted weight yarn. The fog lifted! Thank you so much for your instructions.

    I absolutely love the thumb technique. I knew how to shuttle tat and wanted to learn needle tatting, as well. I was getting frustrated because I wasn’t quick enough. You’re amazing!

    Hi and welcome. I am just learning to tat and I religiously tried to master the shuttle tatting but gave up after dropping it several or pulled to make a stitch and it was just a long thread with no knot. I was not to be defeated so I am now watching how to needle tat. I am just beginning to watch the tutorials and want to see them in slow motion so I can master the art of tatting and make a beautiful lace design and have a new hobby and something to be proud of.

    Thank you for this, I think I see how to incorporate this into my crochet work! (Btw, when drawing the ring closed, I think you may be able to prevent a lot of the tangling by putting the little finger of your left hand through the ring while pulling the thread through the hitches. Please let me know if that helps!)

    Thank you so much for this video. Until now, I did not understand how to do the knot to tie off nor to go through the ring then closing the ring.
    I also learned how to do the chain and what the source thread was. It all finally makes sense to me.
    Thank you

    I have actually learned a lot from this video. Your instructions are easy to follow and make sense to me. Sometimes that's the hardest part, understanding the "language", terminology, whatever. I'm going to attempt tatting today. Thanks for your patient tutoring! I always look forward to your videos!💕

    Hi Lequitta I've just started watching the channel you linked to, I could never get the hang of crocheting but I find needle tatting so easy and it's explained so well on her videos. I have to tell you I hold my thread exactly like you do working from thumb to finger I couldn't do it the way she teaches and figured that was the best way for me. It really made me smile when I saw you did the same, I wonder how many others hold it in the same way lol. Thanks for the video you explain things beautifully hugs and smiles 😊

    Thank so very much! !! I found it easy to understand and follow you. I'm so happy to have found you! I've always been interested in learning how to tat but I found it hard to learn with the looms. Your method with just the needle is so much easier. I can associate it with crochet and macrome which I know how to do. Tfs GOD Bless

    To try to untangle your thread, stand up and grab the thread close to the ball, and drop your work and let it spin out. It does help but some threads are just tangly, which is why we tend to use shuttles more than needles to tat. No long tangled threads to deal with, just short tangles from the hand to the bobbin ;) I like to use my ring finger of my left hand to put through the bottom loop when pulling the thread through, it helps to keep the threads untangled and to easily put the needle through the loop for a ring.

    You do a great job. I'm trying to help a friend learn to tat and she wants to needle tat. I shuttle tat. I'm thinking you may have less trouble with tangling if you used a cordonnet thread (a thread with six strands), such as Lizbeth brand from Handy Hands or DMC cordonnet. It is more expensive, but holds up well, keeps its shape and requires less starching once your project is done. Just a thought.

    • @Pamperdpetals

      Thank you for the compliment and for the tips, I will certainly try and find the threads. I would love to shuttle tat but just couldn't seem to get the hang of it. Thanks for watching and I hope your friends can master needle tatting! 💖💖

    Hi Lequitta, I had no idea you could use a needle for tatting!!! My grandmother tatted beautifully and so fast, but with a shuttle. She tried to teach me but I just could not get the hang of it. I do crochet tho. I am so excited to try this needle method....I know I will hold my thread the way you do as it looks very comfortable. Thank you for this tutorial!!!! Have you made a video of how to make your bead trim? Smiles, Deborah :-)

    I found that if I put a safety pin through the thread on the ball and, when the thread started to wrap on itself, I held my work in one hand and let the ball dangle (kept from unwinding by the safety pin), it would spin until the thread unwound itself and I could continue with my pattern.

    Are there defferent the tatting's needle and thread with the usual sewing thread and needle?

    • @Pamperdpetals
      @Pamperdpetals  3 роки тому

      Yes the needles are much bigger and longer. The ones I have are 5” long, some are very thin and go up to a heavier thicker needle. The threads vary in size also and heavier than normal sewing thread. Hope that answered your question. Thank you for watching.
