"Picot" is a French word, and it's pronounced "pee-ko." Love your simple to follow instructions.
THANK YOU!
It drives me crazy how people pronounce it!
I thought 'pick it' was a stitch I hadn't learned yet. Imagine my surprise when I discovered it was just a picot. I'm glad I don't have another stitch to learn, what ever way people pronounce it. This was the best of the three beginner tatting videos I've watched.
All the thread/yarn snobs came to comments to say this 😂🙋🏻♀️ I quit listening after that and now I'll have to rewind. 😅
The dumbing down of education….SMH
@SomeGirlsRandom omg! Me too😂😂❤
Thank you for your simple illustration. I was there with every move you make. I hope none if your clients dispute your price because you earned every dollor ❤.
My maternal grandmother passed away when I was a teen. She used to tat and make doilies. Now that I’ve become a 1st time grandma, I’ve relearned how to knit and just became a crocheter earlier this year. When I told my spouse that my grandma tatted & showed him one of the 2 pieces I have, he said “you should try that.” Because he knows how scared I was of crocheting & now I love it. Your video helps me not be frightened of trying tatting. And you know the sweet part? When you showed the teeny crochet hook, I think my mom passed along that same hook to me with her 3 crochet hooks. It’s the exact same size & must be it. 🥰
This is precious. I know it's two years later, but congratulations ❤ I'm much too young to be a grandparent (Millennial here) but I feel such joy with my neices and hope to teach them knitting, crocheting, Maltese lace (my mother's side heritage, very similar to Spanish lace) and eventually tatting myself
I hope you're enjoying being a grandparent 😊
@@BloodFox49 TY so much for your kind words! It’s ok that it’s 2 years later, it let me reflect on what’s happened in that time. I think it’s so wonderful that you enjoy knitting & crocheting & lace-making and plan to pass those skills along to your nieces. I’m so impressed & grateful for all the young creators on SM who are making such beautiful items & also developing patterns to share w/other makers. Best wishes for a happy 4th of July!
I watched several videos on tatting before I found yours, thank you! Your method of teaching is understandable and perfectly clear.
Hi Janice thank you so much for watching and you’re very welcome!!
That's exactly the way I've learned to hold the thread! It save a lot of pokes, you're the first one I've seen do it!
Thank you! Very clear and understandable. Excited to give a new craft a try!
I could not learn from any other tatter like I just did from you, thank you, and I watch many other.
Thank you so much! I used to do needle tatting a couple decades ago and had forgotten how to do it. Your video was easy to follow, and I appreciate it.
Hi Darcey! You are very welcome 😊
Thank you for such clear instruction. I'm picking up my tatting needle for the first time right now.
You are welcome!
Thank you! It's so nice to see the tools all together so we can make up a kit and know it will all be there.
EXCELLENT tutorial! Thank you so much for making it and sharing it with us all. (Just FYI, picot is pronounced "pee-koh" rather than "picket" like a picket fence. It's a French word, and they are famous for adding silent letters to the end of words.) 😉
Thank you so much for sharing this. I couldnt figure out how to get passed the first ring. I would get one ring done and had no idea where the next one or chain was supposed to go. Now I can go and make the pattern I want without getting all frustrated. Yay!!
I cannot wait to try this! Thank you for taking your time and showing us.
Hi Ruthanne! Of course, it’s my pleasure 😊 thank you for watching!
I never did tatting before. I am going to give it a try, with your help. Thank-you!😊
Great! I hope you like it! Have fun ❤️
Love this video, you explained that so well and also did a really great job of showing what you were doing in a very clear way. I hope you continue to make more videos, I’m excited to watch the one where you made your beautiful earrings!!

Hi Gail! Thank you and thanks for watching 😊
Thank you so much for the great tutorial. I can’t wait to see more I’m new to needle tatting.
Your tutorial made it so easy for me! Thank you!
You’re welcome Doris! Thank you for watching 😊
Thank you so much! Video was very informative and well organized. The camera focus was a little dodgy, but I was still able to follow along. My mother has wanted to know how to tat for years and I just discovered Needle tatting (opposed to shuttle)!!! I am super excited to learn this so I can show her *this* technique as I am Confident that she will get the hang of it quickly! I look forward to watching more of your videos to learn how to make purposeful items that I can be proud of!!
That was really cool to learn how you make such beautiful earrings! I'm very impressed! Great job Shasta!!! 😁

Thanks 🙏 for sharing it ❤️
Hello, I can't find your video following this one, where you attached to your pico. Thank you for your nice video
I can see why you use a dull needle. I will be trying this to make some snowflakes! Thanks
Yes I tried using a doll needle when I first was learning how and I pricked my finger so many times 😬. Thanks for watching 😊
thanks for these explanations, where can I get that knitting needle.
Do you have a tutorial on the picture for this video? I would love to learn how to make it
Hello! No I’m sorry I don’t. This was the first thing I made when I was learning how to needle tat and I happened to take a picture.
Loveeeee
Hi Mikaela! Thanks for watching ☺️
It's actually pronounced "pico" but spelled picot. The t is silent... Just fyi.
Elisheva Reynolds thanks!
@@ShastaShaeCreations you're welcome.
I would elaborate a bit and say it's pronounced "pee-ko." It's a French term.
@@kenandyamy yes, it's French, pronounced as you said.
Hello, could you tell me where I can find the material you used please. Thank you and have a nice day
So neat how u do this
Thanks for watching!
Wow..
Thanks for watching!
I feel like my hands are too shaky to do this but it looks so fun.
I appreciate you watching though! ❤️
Where to get these needles.
🥰
Thanks for watching!
It would be easy to use tatting hook
No enseñó hacer la unión entré si
Lo puedes traducir al idioma espalol?
It’s called a pico, not a picket
T is silent in picot
Yes I know that now 😊 thanks
Picot is pronounced Pee-co.....not "picket"
Yes I know that now, thanks.
Too difficult!!! 🤦🏼♀️
I bet you could do it if you keep practicing! ❤️
@@ShastaShaeCreations I'll try ,but it seems very difficult to me. I think crochet it's easier than tatting. 🤷🏼♀️
Understandable 🙂 I learned to crochet before I learned to needle tat.
@@ShastaShaeCreations and do you think it's easier? Tatting is difficult and I think it takes longer to make a piece.
Once I got the hang of it it seems just as easy to me as crochet. The only downside is how long it takes to pull out your work if you make a mistake.
John 3:16 KJV
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Just to let you know It's a PeeCo :)
Yes I know now, thank you 😊. This was the first video I made and I did not realize that at the time 🙈
Pee-kó French
It is pronounced. Peeeeeecoooooo. Not picket
You call it a pockit, but Picot is called: picoo. Zo you don't speak de 't'. Your needle is far to big for this dread. Go on with tour needle tatting video's because jou explain it very wel. Good luck
this helped me so much! thanks :)
🥰
Thank for watching Ashley 😊
