Maria you are a very good teacher, thank you so much! Ive wanted to learn tatting since the early 80's when i did an elderly womans hair. She brought her tatting work witj her only she used and different type of needle. Work and kids for long years preventing me from taking it up, but it was always in the back of my mind. So now my nest is empty and im retired. I believe my chance to start tatting has arrived. Your instructions are making it so easy! Blessings to you 🙏
I can never thank you enough! This video is THE ONLY ONE I've found on UA-cam SHOWING and EXPLAINING what is happening to the thread as you work with it! NOW I GET IT!! THANK YOU!!!!!😁
Oh my goodness! This was so helpful and clear!! Thank you so much for this video. Someone mentioned that they got into tatting, and I immediately went to look into beginner videos and found yours. It's so much easier than I thought it would be thanks to your teaching! I can't wait to get started! ^_^
Your work is lovely. Thank you for all of your videos. I’m trying to learn please make more explaining more basics there aren’t many available. You teach well and are very helpful. Thank you
Question I see you counting is that 4 double stitches ? Which is also a total of 8 single going both ways his is truly a for beginners guys ! Anyone looking and reading comments before watching ! Well this is so easy and more detail than any other video !
I watched a lot of needle tatting videos and your are the best. The close ups and patience of showing the how the work progresses is wonderful. Thank you.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us. My mom tried many years ago knew to make the tatting with the shuttle. Was only able to make 1 stitch, but remembered about tatting & will be able to use as soon as I get better. Your instructions are very clear & I think with your video will make it a lot easier to learn. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Appreciate it & will try as soon as I can. Keep on being blessed 🤩 together with your family 🤗 Good night 😴🌙💤 🛏
Wow! Thank you so much! I couldn't get the double stiches and picots off of the needle. The instrucrions I have didn't mention the loop at the end! Now thanks to YOU I have created my very first ring!!
Thank you for clear clarification this HELPS a lot, thanks for commenting on your comments explaining arears of tatting that no other did, but we are all learning a task, skills that would have been lost .. through the internet we can teach each other all over the world thank you
I'm a crocheter/knitter and was interested in tatting. Watching shuttle videos confused me so I gave up until I saw your video. Needle tatting is awesome and I'm definitely going to try it now! Please keep making more videos 😃
Excelente su explicación, tengo una pregunta la aguja que usa es especial para esta clase de trabajo, se puede realizan en agujas largas normales?...siempre he usado navetas. Gracias por su respuesta 🇵🇪
Hi new Subscriber here. Thank you for taking the time to explain everything slow for us to see and understand. I've been wanting to learn to Tat but was intimidated by the complexity of it but you explained it so well. GOD Bless
Thank you so much. The other videos I watched said to leave a long tail, but never mentioned it again, then quickly slid their stitches off. When I tried to slide mine off, they all got stuck right after the eye of the needle. Your video tells me what to do with that tail and how I use all that length. Thank you so much, I'm tired of snipping off my work and pitching it because I can't close it!
Oh..that's so great and pretty clear explanations not too quick nor too slow of which i(just start to learn both shuttle and needle tatting) could easily follow. That's really helpful. Thank you so much for your nice and beautiful tutorials. I'd love to try all of your videos. Bless you.
Maria, are you the lady that does the youtube video of a tatted piece with a large bead in the center? I cannot find the video I am searching for. I love watching your excellent teaching videos! God bless!
Very helpful Maria. Thanks for taking your time to upload this. May I please ask you(if and when time permits) to upload a video on how to proceed with the 2nd ring and the finishing part. A newbie to tatting here and a new subscriber to you :)
Have a question... if you want to make an edging for a pillow case, do you need a r-e-a-l-l-y long tail to finish the edging in one piece? I'm hoping I can make long edgings while working off the ball.
@@MariaPapia Thank you for your fast response to my question! So do you NEED a long tail or can you just leave, say 6 inches and still be able to tat the full length of the pillow case? I guess I am confused as to whether the tail gets shorter with each ring/chain you make.
You can maybe start with 24-30 inches and add more thread if you need to. Here is a tutorial on how to add more thread ua-cam.com/video/ZALNGsF2yYg/v-deo.html
Very clear. You are really using that thread to go inside each ring to hold the work. I guess the longer you practice, you would get familiar with how much you need according to how many loops or stitches you make. TFS...dee
Thank you your video was so helpful and clear and close up and your English is very very clear hope to see more of your Turturro in English you do beautiful work keep it up
Mam, I know abit of shuttle tatting....this needle method is v.new to me....first half is understood, but pulling of thread to make the ring is a bit difficult for to get it...if shown slowly for help.... Thabks

Thanks! I've been trying to learn needle tatting and have been having problems with knots etc or with a huge tail or a huge loop so was feeling very discouraged. NO ONE in books or in the many videos really discussed pulling the tail through the stitches! Maybe they assume you can see it but not when they are doing 100 stitches a second ;). BTW what types of thread do you use? I've been able to purchase the right needles but there's not much info on what kind of thread -- apart from size -- I should use and for what project.
