It is so refreshing to see a darker skinned dermatologist talking on skincare because I always have to be cautious if other dermatologist are going to regularly work with people with dark skin tones so this is super helpful and your work is so needed

She is just a regular MD....not sure if she specialized in anything or not. I think may to be a General Practitioner. After med school she become a chemical formulator of skin products. Dr. Alexis on the other hand was a chemical formulator first, and then went to medical school specifically for Dermatology. So, from a medical perspective and dermatological standpoint, I think I give Dr. Alexis one or maybe even two up on Dr. Vanita. But, I do appreciate Dr. Vanita as well for sure. And I absolutely enjoyed the video they did together.

I think there was a lot of very useful information here, some of which I have not heard in any other video on youtube. But, I think there needs to be - : 1. Better preparation. 2. Slower delivery 3. A more structured organisation. 4. Focus on products to solve the problems, in a way that is easier to assimilate. The information is there somewhere, but I'll most likely have to listen to it 10 or 20 times, to decipher it all. Especially for people of colour, there is a lot of information here, a lot. Just needs much better organisation. For example the presentation format was not uniform, from section to section. I'll watch the more recent videos to see if she has an improved version.

This is such a great video! but I feel overwhelmed with the amount of information. Which out of all these products or steps are really the most important? I use Super goop sunscreen and moisturizer and ceravee hydrating cleanser. I have dry skin and Eczema. I would like to target the hyperpigmentation around my chin and neck.

Thanks for the video. I've used various products over the years that supposedly deal with the issue of hyperpigmentation, but resulted in major disappointments. Your explanation of hyperpigmentation presents a more complex issue than topical creams are capable of addressing. Qualified dermatologists of color are non-existent where I live and accessing one would require much travel. Thanks again!

the moisturizer section is clutch. i've never heard that information before. thank you so much! I was using the LRP Toleriane Double Repair Moisturizer because it didnt break me out and it has ceramides and niacinamide, but also 2 saturated fatty acids... sigh... thanks for the recommendations!

Yes please a video on melasma. Had to take hormone replacement and I thought I had the butterfly mask from lupus. Tried hydroquinone and my lungs began to burn. Used tranexamic acid with kojic and no improvement and found out Purito sunscreen has not been honest and now I know why my skin has not improved. So 😞

I did notice that my skin tone evened out beautifuly when I started using a moisturizer with shea butter and squalene 🤔🤔. I refused to believe that this moisturizer was the reason why my complexion was brighter tho. I had NO IDEA at all that shea butter increases cell turn over and evens skin tone.

I haven't seen much good reviews, most people say its made little difference. Purified water, emulsifying wax(SLS free), white soft paraffin 5% w/w, light liquid paraffin 4% w/w, glycerol, phenoxyethanol, cetostearyl alcohol. 👈 Here's the list of ingredients in my moisturizer and there is something in it that makes my skin burn while I'm on tretinoin. And while taking a look can you tell me if any of this a saturated fat? I'm hoping someone communicates. Thanks.
I think the ‘ increase in heat within the skin’ when using using chemical sunscreens is incorrect. I don’t think there is actually any strong evidence to support this. Also, if your skin does not react badly to chemical sunscreens, the newer filters are excellent at protecting from UVA rays. Any body else have info regarding this divisive issue?

Thank you for such a thorough video. I have a question please; how could we know if our moisturizer has saturated fatty acids? I use HELLO FAB COCONUT WATER CREAM but cannot find out the answer from the list of their ingredients. It would be great to get some help from you :)
Purified water, emulsifying wax(SLS free), white soft paraffin 5% w/w, light liquid paraffin 4% w/w, glycerol, phenoxyethanol, cetostearyl alcohol. 👈 Here's the list of ingredients in my moisturizer and there is something in it that makes my skin burn while I'm on tretinoin. And while taking a look can you tell me if any of this a saturated fat?

I think the ‘ increase in heat within the skin’ when using using chemical sunscreens is incorrect. I don’t think there is actually any strong evidence to support this. Also, if your skin does not react badly to chemical sunscreens, the newer filters are excellent at protecting from UVA rays. Any body else have info regarding this divisive issue?
