Miramax head Marc Helwig provides an update to Deadline this week.
“The foundation of it is the original film, the John Carpenter movie, the characters of that film, and perhaps a group of characters that we haven’t really focused on that much in recent film versions or even in a number of them,”
“It’s a creative reset completely and going back to the original film, as opposed to spinning out of any of the more recent film adaptations.”
“We’re on a fast track, it’s a big priority for us. We’ve had lots of exciting conversations in recent months with a number of really talented people, and I think we’ll have a pretty good idea of what we’re going to be doing very soon. We’re hoping to lock down the creative team very soon.”

Loved 2018 as a stand alone. When you throw it in with kills and ends it really starts to get messy for me. One of the biggest problems once I got to ends was Michael aging and then becoming weak. It made him look less super natural and too human. For me that was what was terrifying of the first. Dr. Loomis over and over saying he wasn’t human. He got stabbed and got back up. Poked in the eye back up, shot six times, he got back up. He was terrifying because you couldn’t stop him and you didn’t know why he was doing what he was doing. The mystery is what’s intriguing and terrifying. Because he could go after anyone. He’s capable of anything. And he won’t stop because he’s pure evil.
Michael was weak in Halloween Ends because of all his untreated injuries that he got from the past 2 movies. Michael was always human. Is he a regular human? Absolutely not but at the end of the day he is still human/just a man so his body does have limits. 2018/Kills was his peak because he had proper treatment and etc for the last 40 years but all the damage in one night fucked him up. He used the last bits of his strength to kill the mob and Karen then his injuries caught up to him. Yes his age did as well since he wasn’t in shape anymore but that isn’t the main reason why he was weak. Michael isn’t necessarily supernatural in the 2018 timeline, he’s a man that is capable of extraordinary things but not supernatural things (literal), so that would make him more superhuman

I know you hate the brother sister idea but I think that’s what truly made those first two movies pretty iconic.
Carpenter did an amazing job fitting the second movie, right into the first movie as if it was meant to be.
It just made so much sense.
There is definitely a way to do future movies, and also a television series that can keep these two movies within the same timeline.
And still be mysterious and open up more avenues to go back before Michael Myers even killed his sister Judith in part 1 and lead into the events that would take place after part two.
Not only that, but there’s away to sprinkle in a series with Dr. Loomis before and in between Halloween one and two and future events.
And there’s also a way to include the cult classic, Halloween 3 within the whole thing all at the same time!!

3:05 - I always felt they could do something totally different, with Myers going after the kids who are being babysitted, kinda like the kids in IT (2017), done hard R of cos. Kids being spooked by the legend of a boogeyman is always more scary rather than adults.

There is no nonsense in part 1.
And the sibling twist isnt awful but it's random asf. Michael breaks out and just so happens to find his sister and if so how the fuck does he know that's his sister? He hasnt seen her since she was a baby. That's not even mentioning the fact that the original movie doesn't allude to that twist at all which makes it really jarring when it's revealed out of nowhere. Also why wouldnt Loomis know that?? He knew everything. And it just takes away from the mystery and randomness of michaels stalking / killing in the original
As long as the show isn't a streaming one it's like every show these days you have to stream not all of us can afford to stream movies or shows
I am a big fan of Halloween II (1981). I first saw it as a kid in the theater in 1981 and it really scared me. I still watch it every October. I think it is a very good sequel to the original Halloween film. I think it is scarier than the original film and has a palpable sense of dread and fear. I like the brother/sister plot point. It makes Michael Myers' attempts to kill Laurie Strode even more horrific as an older brother is supposed to love and protect his younger sister, not try to kill her.

The Sister story works beautifully as a tie into the original and it just makes sense.
Not only that, there is a way that they could go back to events that transpired before Michael Myers killed his sister Judith in the first movie as well as events that take place after Halloween 2.
While all is the same time, sprinkle in tons of events That transpired between Halloween one and two.
There’s even way to weave in the events of Halloween 3!!
There is so much that could be done here, while keeping these first two/3 movies within the same timeline and history.

The article says 13 movies. That is sounding ambitious. I would love to see the world of Halloween III explored in further detail.
I just hope they keep it simple. Everyone that attempts to make sequels gets too caught up in explaining things or doing Easter eggs and forgets to just make the movie simple. The original Halloween was the most simple and the most legendary. We don’t need a lot going on in a Halloween movie.

Why can't we have our cake and eat it too? We could still have part 2 as Canon but just say that the sister component was a mistake that some clerk made in the adoption process. So there has never been a Michael Myers that wanted to kill his family reason

I think they did a comic about it but as far as am I concerned the only way left to go is the years in Smith's Grove which could be a series and could be really really cool. No backstory, let's just see the crazyness in there, see the beast grow up.

I need them to recapture the cinematography of the first film. I was blown away watching Halloween Ends after the credits when they open on that shot of the street, I was like wow they captured EXACTLY what Carpenter did and then they showed it was just a shot stolen straight from that film.

I really need to revisit Halloween 3. I have seen it once. I know it grew in cult status. I love the ideas of putting them together, Michael and part 3. But I did not realize the opening of Halloween Kills had nods to part 3. I knew the masks made cameos.

Halloween 2 (81) is one of the best horror sequels ever. It is the only part even close to original's quality.

I love the boogeyman plot. This can either be living or dead and comes out during Halloween ie the shape. This could extend beyond the ends timeline or H1 or H2 whatever. We don’t need much on how the shape becomes the boogeyman but Michael needs to comeback like H1 and moments of H2 where he’s a nightmare not just a kill count.
If they’re gonna do this then it’s time that they start focusing on the actual Sam Hain curse and how the Myers family was cursed! Epic story!

If they focus on new characters, they have to include the McKenzies and the angry neighbor, who's seen a lot of The Shape all night which makes him so over being "pranked to death." Going forward, they can try something with the Elrods and Alice once the deaths are reported.

Okay, let me try this again. I'm not opposed to a new Haloween movie or series or whatever, but I think it's a little too soon to be making plans. I mean, Halloweens Ends came out just over a year ago. I think we should take a breather from Haloween for the moment and bring it back in ten years or so. Maybe less, but that just feels like the right amount of time.
He had a reason to kill in the 2018 version. He wanted to relive his first kill, and the trip to that window is the pregame workout which is more common than you think in the forensic psychology of serial killers.

I wouldn't mind seeing some of the things that happened during Michael's time at Smith's Grove. Not to mention if they do give him a "supernatural edge" like later films. Have it tie into the real lore of Samhein. Not to an extent as say part 3, but enough to explain why he is the way he is.

Hmmm the continuation from the original 1978 film, that does, to me at least indicate they may not deal with the events of 2018 and its sequels? I think that would allow them the room to work with the characters of the 1978 film set of characters. Not that they should retcon Laurie’s book end at this point to be honest either, let that character be the final girl OF 1978 and then deal with the other characters who survived that night, although you’d have to retcon Annie or Linda or Bob if they are on the table for this next film that deals just with the events of 1978. If it included the 1981 Halloween II characters then it’s a similar issue they’d have to retcon some of those people though I think Jimmy has an ambiguous arc with the car scene

I've had an idea for a Friday The 13th EV series, that would be about Jason Vorhees, but not just about Jason.
It would revolve around a couple of FBI agents hunting down seriel killers. While Jason would be the main villain ,
it would also have them investigating Michael Myers, Freddy, Pinhead , Chucky , ect....

What about the Mask from Holloween Ends left on Laurie Strodes table in living room? Will someone come back and claim it?
Like the idea of a post 78 story show the aftermath of that night on Haddonfield. It's a year later in 79 Loomis is brought back to Smith's Grove when another patient Charlie Bowles escapes and he writes Samhain 63 on the wall leading to an event back in 63 a festival of Samhain which took place. It was arranged by Silver Shamrock who placed an evil curse over Haddonfield which led to Myers killing Judith and Charlie Bowles killing his wife. Loomis links all this together and seeks help from Brackett who's now a broken man, an ex Sheriff now police detective. Both Loomis and Brackett want to unravel this mystery to what led to the events of 63 and 78. Two men who want redemption and we learn Michael vanished after 78 and Silver Shamrock have him under their watch. The sword focus is on Loomis and Brackett taking on the evil Silver Shamrock created in the first place, Myers will return to Haddonfield.
They need to bring Richie back. I didn't agree with Lonnie Elam coming back since we never saw an interaction between Michael and Lonnie until the flashback sequence but we did see a very vivid interaction between Michael and Richie. They both stared at one another and Richie ran off terrified. Why was he not used instead? Richie looked at death in the face and lived. You know that lived in his soul and every mention of Michael Myers, he was absolutely terrified. He lived which few people did. You know he was always mortified when Halloween came around always wondering if Michael was going to get him. You know his story wouid be awesome.
Ideas:
1. Pick up from h4 where jamie is now an adult
2. Continue with h6 and the thorn storyline
3. Halloween returns script in tv format
4. Halloween 3d script in tv format
5. There was a halloween script that followed john (lauries son in h20) and could show his life after h20
6. Show michael in the sanitarium as a kid which was shown in a comic

I think you are missing the point of what they are doing... I don't think they are were saying they were going to do a straight sequel to the original... I think they were saying they are doing a complete reboot, but they will still use the core story of the origianl Halloween... but still film a new "original: Halloween... A COMPLETE reboot...
What about if they throw in Dr. Wynn (JC's Halloween version not Curse of Michael Myers version) as a more story centered character in this series?

I do like the idea of the mark of Thorne, but part five and six did not do it well, but the idea of him being driven by a ancient evil from the Druid times where they would sacrifice a family for the gods on Halloween sounds Awesome and if they made it to where he’s more possessed by this demon or whatever And not have a colt helping him or anything but have a Pazuzu type demon giving him the strength to do what he needs to do makes since to why he won’t die until he completes his mission

Totally with you on the whole sister aspect Jimmy I’ve never been a fan of that although I get why some people like it. But it’s way scarier that he’s just the boogeyman and not somebody’s messed up brother.
Myers is my #2 slasher, coming in 2nd on to Jason V. But what I really think should happen is Jamie Lloyd as the "NEW" shape. When do we get our 1st female slasher with a mask. Make it fall in with the "Thorn" curse. Give us an iconic slasher female that can possibly last 30+ years, and the Halloween franchise is probably the only slasher franchise that could pull that off. No one really wants a Francis Krueger or Jasmine Voorhees. Well, some people may like to see that, but not me. Great job and please keep the vid's coming.
They always can do something with the prologue of the original book by Curtis Richards. They could show the dawn of the Celtic race, the druid rituals and the Enda character's story. Possibly following how the evil has carried throughout generations. 🤷

Logically, Michael Myers could not have gone after Laurie and her friends unless he had some prior connection to them. He just got into Haddonfield and was taunted by a small group of random teenagers, but within a few hours time was able to find them all and had the motivation to cause them harm? That makes no sense.

Right. He stalks Laurie from the beginning, starting that morning before school. He was very deliberate and passes hundreds people all day driving around Haddonfield. Some connection makes sense.
We all know Michael was obviously gonna go kill other people after he was done with Laurie. The reason he want after her and not other people is because he was the first thing he saw after returning to Haddonfield and she came to his door step. Another thing is, it was fate which is why they kept being brought together in the trilogy since it was fate for them to meet and keep meeting.

I feel that the events of H1 should be referenced in the TV series, but not re-hashed. Simply make an occasional reference to 1978 as "texture" without beating it over viewer's heads. That would obviously establish the groundwork but wouldn't cause any major continuity issues as the series gains it's own footing.
If the series is to be set right after the events of H1, then I'd rather it feature brand new characters as opposed to recasting existing roles. If it's set in the contemporary time (a 46-year time jump) then perhaps recasting roles with new actors would be more believable.
Would be interesting if the format of the series featured flashbacks (and maybe even "new" footage from 1978) juxtaposed with current events, then edited together in such a way that the series basically serves as a prequel to a new feature film, which literally picks up where the series ended (on a cliffhanger, of course). 🤩
