- In Episode 4 of 'Proxima Beyond', we continue salvaging abandoned space vessels. We still got the same goal: find an assembler, cargo container, and refinery. These components are essential for crafting ammunition, storing resources, and processing raw materials, setting the stage for future endeavors in the vastness of space.

Hey everyone! 👋
First off, a massive thank you for joining me on Episode 4!
I have started to form an idea in my mind for this seasons goal...
So here it is:
Scouting Phase: Travel and set up scientific outposts on all planets and moons.
Selection Phase: Choose the best planet for the Forward Operating Base (FOB).
Construction Phase: Build the FOB and a communication array.
Homeward Initiative: Build a "FTL" capable ship and leave the system for Earth.
The FTL part will be more of a role-play technology (probably using the Frame shift Drive mod or something similar).
This idea is currently only a draft - with much room for improvements and suggestions - So gladly hear what you guys think! 😊
Sounds like a plan, but can we also have another episode soon please, it's starting to make me want to get back building again.
Remember to equip the FTL ship with a few planet killing nukes. Itsthe least you can do to say "thanks", for just leaving you out therefor a few hundred years, without even so much as a probe sending a 12 pack of yur favorite cold beverage, tosay thanks for trying, sorry it dudntwork out. 🤣🤣🤣

Love the series, and I only yelled at the screen a little bit. I like the mod choices. Just wish there was a reason to go to planets, but I can’t think of one unless it’s just to “go home”
Now, I want to see an attack!
Yeah, the Scrapping mod is a double edge sword, as many of the high end items can be found.
I think landing on planets will be have to be part of the Role Playing part of the challenge.
Already got an idea a bit (posted as a pinned comment).
For the next season I already got other ideas, and probably will use a redistribution mod for ores, so you have to travel to planets to get certain specific ores. 👍

After grinding a block down below the hack line a quick click with the welder puts all the components back without welding it up. Saves on carting components everywhere or having to find somewhere to store them while hacking the rest of the grid.
Oh, that is actually a good call, also makes it easer to hack 👍
Mod Suggestion:
Block Progression- Schematic Hunter
Recon Camera
Armour Plates 2.0
CryoRepsawnTesting
Schematic hunter puts "blueprints" of blocks on data pads. These then spawn on NPCs.
Recon Camera allows for a massize amount of zoom, you could zoom in on one of those planets surfaces.
Armour Plates is body armor.
CryoRespawn changes the respawn system making cryochambers your only spawn and you have to maintain clones to be able to respawn. I also made it.
For some QOLs check out the SE plugin loader.

Both the Schematic Hunter and CryoRespawn are going to be mods I keep in mind for the future!
The Schematic hunter probably wont work in this playthrough because I am not using NPC (on foot) Mods.
And the Cryo Respawn is a good one for another style playthrough!

I was wondering in SE can you make essentially an un-manned probe and send it off on it's own and be able to somehow see what it sees well after you sent it away? Was thinking of sending the probe off to the planet you originally started heading for but it was unreasonable distant. Was hoping such a probe would be able to give you some info without you having to spend the time flying there yourself.
Great episode, big win with the assembler. For your Scout Phase, do you have any idea how many planets and moons are in this solar system?
There are about 4 planets and 3 moons in the system... (If I recall correctly).
The unmanned probe is indeed an idea that was playing in my mind, however I am lacking blocks to make it for now.
I prefer to use the small grid blocks for the fighter first - hopefully I can capture a ship, so I can move on to the next milestone.

you could start putting together an ion miner, if you find a few more cargo container or get the challenge done so you can use grind and learn. I guess the later will be the way to go.
Yeah, at that time mining had no priority as I did not have access to a refinery.
Another cool episode. Would it be worth starting to build another nacelle too? Just to be ready?
I think I would like to get to a point where I can find/build a projector...
So I can just build 2nd one without too much hassle. 👍
are you able to make a grinder pit? might be an idea since you’re at a point where you can be more picky with your salvage
I don't think I will go for a grinder pit yet... As most likely I will be moving away from the asteroid soon. 😊
is there a built in way within splitsies mod to get the ability to create power cells or well any component eventually?
As far as I have seen, both in this playthrough and testing: Nope.
that was a great episode you got so excited over the assembler i laughed so hard i think fighter is good idea waiting for the next one
Haha.. that Assembler is such a game changer! Even if I can not make batteries.
Ammo is gonna be important, so being able to repurpose the magnesium is beautiful! 😊
I recommend to set your weapons to only aim at other weapons, then you don't have to turn them of all the time.
At that time of the series, I preferred to keep guns intact to ensure I could take the ammo, as I could not refine Magnesium. And I had enough batteries not to bother about those.
MES ships also have terminal with upgrade points
Yeah, But I do need another mod for that to make the points useful...

@@Beeblebum just watched it yesterday. Had to stop eating so I don't spit everything out when laughing 😂
While capturing the Valle Crucis, you disconnected all the turrets, and then came and locked onto the ship and flew away... so you lost all the ammo that was inside the turrets, lol... though they were interior turrets, so it's only rifle ammo, so it's not that big of a deal.
I did take all the ammo and grinded them down, I just cut out 2 of the video, just to avoid long quiet grinding sessions. 😅
the jump edits are disconcerting
it doesnt hurt to leave some of the grinding and scrapping
because after all, it is a scrapping mod
I understand what you mean, and my hope is that with the Time Lapses I am now going to be using from Episode 6, that satisfies that.
Maybe an end goal could be setting up an outpost on all of the planets
