Rebel Moon Part 2: The Scargiver Movie Review
Вставка

- I took a bit of heat for my positive review of Rebel Moon Part One a few months ago, but I make no apologies for the fact that I found it an immersive, entertaining epic. I liked it a lot more than the last few Star Wars movies (particularly The Rise of Skywalker). So, I was eager to see the story reach its conclusion with Rebel Moon Part Two: The Scargiver. While an entertaining, action-packed end to the saga, it’s also a clear-cut case of why Snyder's longer director’s cuts should have been the only ones hitting Netflix. Even more than in the first film, this feels awkwardly fast-paced and anti-climactic at times due to the story having no room to breathe.

Fool you once, shame on you
Fool you twice, shame on you
for a lot people its like the 6th time. B v S, Snyder cut, army of the dead, suckerpunch, rebel moon and now this atrocity.
@@SuCKeRPunCH187Army of the Dead was a War Crime.... Was there a directors cut for Superpunch?
Uh, Fool me--you can't get fooled again.
Foolish eye be.
😂
I’m pretty sure the extra hour in the director’s cut will be more about farming grain. The grain had more backstory than any of the other supporting characters.
😭
This and pt1 are essentially what I imagine a sci-fi movie made by AI would be. Just a soulless mishmash of generic space opera bullet points. Absolute trash.
Wait, you liked Rebel Moon? What? How? There is nothing there. WTF?
Maybe he has CTE
Wdyd there is nothing there?
It's visually enjoyable. Light swords, robots, spaceships, fantasy creatures, heroes, villains, great costumes... there's plenty there. It lacked in many areas but was thoroughly enjoyable in my opinion.
@kingimage01 it can easily be enjoyed if you just watch it without wanting to hate it 😂
soy boy.
again with the director's cut?!... Take Lord of the rings for example..Now those are director's/ extended cuts!! Both theatrical n Entended versions are great!.. Which this RM absolutely ain't...saying the reason the original ain't good coz it ain't a true vision?well most can't accept that excuse... The theatrical LOTR were ALREADY Jackson's vision of Tolkien stories comes to life...but made BETTER with the extended cuts! Rebel Moon on the other hand...
But to be fair each LOTR film was 3 hours long. These RM movies are 2 hours long. They really should've only released the longer versions.
I agree. If you can't tell a good story in the alotted time, then maybe directing is not for you. Maybe if there were less slow-motion scenes... 😁
@@jameskondelik8078bro part 2 had 45 mins of harvesting grain and singing songs n a lady handing out her stitched embroidery when she jez met the rebels in under 24 hours?
PLOT OF THIS MOVIE.
SUPER ADVANCED SPACE ARMADA WITH ROBOT MEDICAL TEAM CAN REVIVE A CRUSHED DEAD BODY MUST FIGHT PRIMITIVE FARMERS FOR THEIR HARVEST! this lame armada forgot to invent instant noodles, frozen pizza but HAS RELI COLORFUL MILITARY GARB. so they have a tailor on board their armada but NO ACTUAL FOOD RATIONS?
Wanna see something extraordinary?. .Just search rebel moon part 2 review...ull immediately get tons of BAD reviews!! But when u search Dune part 2....whoa...POSITIVES galore!!
It‘s not like Netflix interfered like studios would. Movie is just bafflingly obtuse. It’s like someone trying to play a classical piece on the piano but missing all the right notes.
There's a part 2 of this?
Of what ? 😂🤣
Yes
And more. Rebel Moon is basically the Monsterverse but with opposite beginnings and few fans.
Unfortunately

Part two was really good! The interaction between characters was so heartwarming
It's all good, I remember how well the Snyder cut of the Justice League turned out compared to the first release. Everyone can hate all they want, I have hopes for the final product. This is basically just a trailer.
I liked part 2 better than the first mostly because it was faster paced. The thing about Snyder and his directors cuts is that if he was an actually good director he shouldn't need a directors cut to make his films good. Now I know that Netflix gave him permission to basically make two different versions of these films, but he really shouldn't have needed to make a whole different version if he was just a more competent writer and director. If he cut down the slo-mo he could fit way more story in there and he wouldn't need a whole extra hour to tell the story.
I just watched part 2, I liked it, I don't get the hate towards it. But each his own
This second part was muuuuuuuch better than the first part. The action is insane in the third act!
Thought it was good, really enjoyed it.
You know what, I am glad you liked Rebel Moonz, good for you. The thing with critics and reviewers is that you need to find those who have similar taste to you, or communicate on the same waves, so you can learn from their work if you are going to like a movie or not. Rebel Moon was horrible. No character development, no story, bad action, brain-damage-bad dialogues, bad camerawork. Those are objective issues with that movie. How Nemesis contributed to the movie? How any of the characters picked up on the way to the final fight contributed to the story or affected main characters? How those characters challenged or affected main characters? You can swap them for any character from any science fiction and/or fantasy movie, and there would be no change. World building made no sens either... eh, whatever, it is taking me too much time anyway.
My point is, if you think Rebel Moon was a good movie, I can not trust your judgement anymore. And it is not the case of me not liking Snyder, Watchmen is one of my favorite movies, 300 was awesome. I do not understand how anyone can like Rebel Moon. I am unsubscribing (how dramatic!), seriously.
Bro you sound offended
Movie was trash! I can't believe they split it up and made people wait for that part 2. What a crap movie
You probably didn't even watch it LOL!
Your name explains alot, and nobody will take you seriously. I see free speech on UA-cam in every comment section I go to. 😂
I liked Frank Miller's The Spirit, so who am I to point fingers?
Are they doing blu ray or any type of physical media for these films???
No apologies necessary.
Why can't Snyder just make a nice 2 hour movie? Why does he always have to have directors cuts . First one was terrible. I think I'll pass. Thanks jo blo for honest reviews
No see it’s that the studios who don’t “get” Snyder and let him make 12 hour epics with zero intermissions and the movie theatres provide the (all male) audience stadium buddies that light up like a laser sword and vibrate.
You know, like that Dune merch but “Snyderized” to be EXTREME and COOOOL
@@johndeere3486 sure
@@dannyschoe4874 you know, like the dune popcorn bucket … it gets funnier if I explain it. 😉👍😉
Because he has a lot of slow motion that makes the movie longer
His original vision was to edgy for Netflix so they agreed to let him release PG versions first. In all the other instances the studios just didn't allow him to release his original vision so he fought for them and thus the Snyder cuts became a recurring occurrence.
there is going to be four more
Loved it.
Looks like there’ll be a part 3. This and Dune 2 are the best movies of the year.
It's a very good movie,, I love it a lot, watched it with my wife and she loved it too,, 9/10 for me
Still think you will get flak for this review too.....
No doubt ;)
Deservedly so too... these movies are horrid
Does the dreadnought even have a flower mill? What the hell is a sci fi mega destroyer going to do with 12,000 bushels of wheat?! 😂
@@JoBloOriginalsdid the check clear or did they cashApp you?
The harvest scene I could have done with out that action was spot on … this would have made a kick ass Star Wars movie . Good film 5 out of ten when the action starts it don’t stop
Hello JoBlo! Yes, we stopped watching all the Star Wars sequels after the 1980s. Too many iterations of Star Wars that it has grown old, tired and should have been retired a long time ago. We thought they would produce another Star Wars based on the 113th Storm Troopers uncles', fathers', nephews' neighbor's friend. HAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!
Both movies part 1 and 2 were awesome 😎 and exactly what we needed in sci fi action films today and Better than any movie at the box office lately!
Yeah unfortunately no improvement to part one, well silly me (Snyder-Fanboy) still going to watch the Director Cut.
When is feedback to a channel just flaming a creator? People have different perspectives and like different things. I'm putting it out there that when a creator says they enjoyed Rebel Moon and liked it better than "the last few Star Wars movies" I know I never need to watch another post by them again because our values and tastes are incompatible. For the record I don't love the "the last few Star Wars movies". I just think that in spite of their many flaws I could at least watch them through to the end (and mostly have no interest in watching them ever again). This was not true of Rebel Moon Part 1. I couldn't endure finishing it because the script and dialog didn't work for me at all. That's it. Best of luck to JoBlo and their fans!
The 2 Rebel Moon films are definitely more enjoyable to watch than the last 3 or 4 Star Wars films. I can't make it through any star wars movies anymore.
@@kingimage01 Not for me, but I can't begrudge anyone finding something they like better than the last Star Wars movies. The last Star Wars movie that felt like a regular movie was Rogue One.
for ME, of course. and blessings to anyone who finds movies they get enjoyment from. I don't lose anything when someone loves something I don't enjoy.
Being “more enjoyable” than Rise of Skywalker is a low bar.
And sadly, even that is untrue. That shitty movie is a lot better than this even shittier one. That, at the very least, has competent filmmaking.
@@eddiek8179lol you call The Rise of Skywalker competent filmmaking hahahahaha 😂
I love Rise of Skywalker
@@dqreps It does have that. Think objectively. Everything else about it is bad in terms of story, execution, characterization, dialogue and cohesive story logic and context but the actual technical filmmaking and moving from one scene to another - is an aspect that was competent, which despite that, is still a really bad movie.
The fact you laugh shows you're utterly ignorant about film and how it works.
Buy some critical thinking and objectivity. Maybe you can find some on sale.
@@eddiek8179 it's just the truth and many people agree. You just have a different opinion. That's okay buddy. You should try putting some of that critical thinking to use by understanding that people Can have different opinions. It's really ok dummy lol
2nd part in the beginning was slow, and didn't capture the attention, but, once the action started it was a good experience, the camera shots and angles , cinematopgraphy, production , fight scenes, all looked amazing an fresh, the cgi was good, i see what he was trying to do....just need more help with writing, and stroytelling....i mean 4hrs the story arcs should have been better...but, if 5hrs was the intended purpose or an r rated version, why not just do that....i had to wait 2 months for part 2 , by that time i damn near forgot about the first part...I'm a Zack Snyder fan, but, come on man with the writing, get some writers....lol, and oh all the actors did great with what they had to work with....
This becomes a franchise then it’s gonna become the anti-Monsterverse: Hated by everyone and loved by only its director and his cult like fanbase. A ship made of glue and bubblegum that will break any second.
it feels to my this is 2 hrs of 20 second tiktok reels complied together. some great shots and quick sequences but the story meh
Just watched....part 2 bro....i would say nly.... superb mind-blowing awesome.....slowmo action scenes kya the.... outstanding... hat's off Jack Snyder....bgm...🔥🔥🔥🔥
I just need to do my own fucking video because I’ve got so much to say lol but I’m so glad that a lot of people agree with a lot of the points coming up in my head
The Script needs work. There was too much narrative exposition in both movies, and he really needs to cut down on the slo-mo. It was getting irritating. The dialogue is kind of dry as well. so mixed review for me. Also, Ray Fisher's character deserved more screen time and should not have been killed off so quickly in the first film. I wanted to know more about that character.
I always rate movies in two perspectives; story n entertainment. Most reviewers just focus on story. Most movies I don’t like, actually entertaining. U can turn your brain off n enjoy it as is. Now there are some that haunt my dreams from double bad. Lol. I think rebel moon in anime form would work better. It’s hard as fk to make scifi stick in live performances. He also should get some writers n editors that don’t agree with him. To much clutter going on. I watch the first one n it felt like he made a recruiting montage but in movie form. He could’ve do more justice to the lore n characters if this was a tv show.
You know what, I have not seen either of them, but I appreciate a different opinion on this movie.
I think the only way I could enjoy Rebel Moon 1 and 2 is if I completetely shut off my brain and soul. Like I would have to be in a vegetative state with a feeding tube down my throat.
I honestly wish they'd only put out the directors cut. Zack and Netflix are not helping this IP buy releasing a lesser movie.
this movie part 1and 2 gives me video game vibes, like I watch a video game movie but live-action.
Does this movie not "remind" anyone of another movie, made in 1980, where a powerful warlord came to a planet to conquer it and a lone individual went out to recreuit help to fight this warlord?
Folks, this movie is (seriously) a re-imagined version of "Battle Beyond the Stars" but with a much bigger budget and a female lead. Sure, there's a lot more gore, ect but (in essence) it's the same film from the construct base.
Wow....glad i didn't waste money on either part of this movie....
nuff said?
I actually enjoyed that last hour but that first hour like fuuuck i like Zack but this was not it man
just saw it well it looks its setting up for a Part 3, really dragging this storyline and barely adding the plot
He's genuinely taking the same route as the gaming industry. He's giving you the equivalent to the "base game" and then releasing the "full version" later.
I will not be surprised when he starts releasing DLC alternate endings. Early access ultimate collectors editions of movies.
I was expecting a better battle tactic from the rebels, especially with general Titus leading them.
Totally agree. The other villagers barely fought even after that whole training sequence.
Zack Snyder's best and most epic film was 300. Every film he's made since was a step down from that.

dude, part 2 is actually good. i hated part 1 so maybe my expectations were really low, but i ended up really enjoying part 2.
so many unnecessary slow motions. 😵💫
Gotta hide the fact that this is actually a shorter story than your average Simpsons episode.
He used the word that describes Snyders movies half baked
i held off watching part 1 because I knew there was going to be a part 2 and now I'm going to hold off watching until the director's cut version is released.
I think that’s your best bet

I liked part 1 and part 2 was definitely an improvement
rating:4.5 closer to a 5
it's entertaining if you add dubstep and dont care about anything around making any sense.
it's not as bad people paint it out to be,
at least the visuals are taken good care of.
if you've seen some weird asian movies you wouldn't be so critical toward it.
would a longer cut fix it?
No,
the script is scattered from the begining.
the run time is long enough for you to make at least a decent storyline,
but zack never has been good at storytelling.
the show would just work better in a music video.
or some league of legend promotion ad
2nd part has more action than the last 3 starwars films, there i said it.
But a incoherent story and character development

6/10 is kinda fair but I didn't see anything special about his movie sry it wasn't good enough for me to really care about the characters... 4/10 I'm my opinion !!!
Why not release the “director’s cut” right away? This is a netflix movie, it doesn’t have to worry about squeezing in more showtimes at theaters…
Exactly, could also cut both parts into a miniseries but maybe it doesn't look as good for marketing.
All the slow motion sequences, the movies would be less than 1hr 30 minutes. Can even challenge Star wars really
minus d 45 mind of farming singing n typical exposition, n the movie would just b 30 mins
just finished watching it tonight, its alot to take in definitely! little slower pacing would be good so will watch directors cut when it comes out 😊
Guys let’s call a spade a spade he might not have bad taste necessarily but he definitely doesn’t have good taste 😂
If the two film EPIC still feels fast past and rushed, maybe write a script/story first your MOVIE that isn’t a bloated mess?
What is it with Snyder that everyone is so invested in this guy? Yeah, he makes cool LOOKING movies. But otherwise, the more creative control he has, they are kind of bad.
It’s okay to admit it. Zach’s not your dad.
You gave a fair review, I'd say more like 8/10...way better then the average action film being delivered these days.
I enjoyed Rebel Moon part 1, I do concede it was a setup film. Still, I am Excited for Part 2.
I kind of understood where they were trying to go in the first one. The second was just terrible, and I will NOT be watching these movies again or the director cut.
It’s big budget schlock
You are a sad, old bag that just sucks the JOY out of life. Who cares about your opinion? In the end, negative folks will just be what you are - JUST CRITICS.
Like if there is story and characters in his films
“What can I do?”
Well, I think you can admit to liking bad movies.
I can let a review go if the person says, “Resident Evil is a 6/10 but because there is some level of trash in it that I really enjoy.”
These movies take good movies and put an inferior spin on them. Again, if you just have a thing for Zack, because I agree he seems like a really good dude, I get it, but these movies scream objectively they are poorly written and rely too heavily on pretty scenes to make you give even the littlest of shits about ANY of these people.
It’s awful AND somehow worse than the first, which was REALLY awful.
Enjoyed both these movies but the fact that they keep releasing half baked products for the sake of releasing Snyder cuts later is a lame strategy
Yeh waiting on directors cuts, i like them its the possibility’s of what it could become that has me excited also.
so we get another 2 hours of harvesting grain? lol tat 45 mins of harvesting n singing song was such a bore
@@Mike-vo9te😂😂 I feel you bro but I think it is better than part one.
@sawboaz242 only if we're making weird comparisons like "piss versus shit".
@@TheNefastor God... That is too much bro.
@@sawboaz242 not sure tbh as I think the script story telling needs a jump in the next one, the dialogue is struggling to flesh out its characters, the change in for instance the dual sword lady was light and day from episode 1. Those things need addressing.
Everyone's a critic now LOL! I'm not sure what all the hate is about. Is it the greatest movie? No. But is it a fun popcorn movie? Absolutely
I went into Rebel Moon part one with trepidation. All the reviews I read said it was unoriginal, derivative etc etc. I enjoyed it however as it was full of the tropes I enjoy: evil empires, underdogs, hidden and 'grey' hero's. All set in beautifully crafted backdrops with lovely designs: from characters, costumes, ship, homesteads etc. So if it really heavily borrows from Magnificent Seven and Seven Samurai, so what? These are great films!
I agree: I can see the benefits of waiting for the Synder Cut later on this year. But, I'm going to watch part two over the weekend. Expectations tempered after listening to your review.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, appreciated. 🙏
The Rise of Skywalker was not a good movie, but it's ridiculous to say that Rebel Moon is anything but orders of magnitude worse.
I also enjoy Rebel moon part 2. Mayde i got bad taste for movies. But people are allowed to enjoy BAD movies 🤔
Couldn't get through it. Absolute garbage. When she started handing out scarfs i was like wtf is this crap. Then when they started talking about their sob stories i turned off. Way to much slow motion too.
Stick to your Hallmark movies😂. Way too much violence and Action for a Nerd like you😂
How to say the movie (both parts) was shit without saying it? Well just say it might be not a bad idea to wait for directors cut. lol
But the best one I have read was "Once the pesky plot gets out of the way Snyder gets to have far more fun in the second hour with the big battle. Pressed for time? Just fast forward to the second hour. It covers all the essential parts of Scargiver." hahahaaaa
I think if you believe that directors cut will be it then you are setting yourself up for a let down.
Snyder has really mastered the art of making 6/10 movies
-1/10😂
@@JohnDoe-ez2ex i'm just being extra generous 😂
I dont think bad movies get 6/10 ratings. This movie is really a 2 at best.
Part one was watchable. Solid MEH for me. Honestly I didn't know that there is part two😂 This will probably be double Meh for me. Thank you for your good content. Love your videos.
Was pretty good 👍 big spectacle, corny as hell with a solid seven samurai story
Tell me you got paid off for a good review without telling me you got paid off for a good review.
Even if you consider this movie (and also the first one) a "tease" for a bigger and better epic, this world/universe - with all it's factions, characters, plot points and stories - is so inconsistent, uninspired (but stolen), bland and most of all stupid, that there is absolute nothing there to be excited about. If you cut down the (very high) budget of this thing there's not even the sometimes great visuals left. There's just nothing left. Please give this kind of money and power to people who know how to write a World and script and not to a 12-year-old.
Nothing happens in the first 40 or so minutes in sequel its a bore fest
I am watching it right now and it's somewhat okay. I know the extended versions for both parts are going to be far superior. Netflix you are idiot for not allowing Zack Snyder to release the extended version of part 1 and part 2 which I assume also exists. Watching this second part feels more like John Carter of Mars. I think what hurts this film is that it doesn't have an original score, don't get me wrong I love Junkie XL's score for BVS but it fits for that specific film. I think what Zack should've done is worked with Junkie to create an original score for Scargiver. I don't know why he recycled the same score again for this film series. Anthony Hopkins can do no wrong when it comes to giving exposition dialogue.
Netflix didn't stop him. They planned together a director cut to be released later for people like you lol.
@@thinlion01 I know a directors cut is coming already but Netflix definitely prevented it lol. A 3-hour long movie will fill in some story gaps that were obviously happening. The violence will be hardcore which won't surprise me at all. I have seen Zack's director's cut of other films like Watchmen Extended Cut, BVS: Dawn of Justice with 30 minutes of footage, his version of Justice League are far more superior and wish they had released these versions in theaters. Netflix is all about profit majority of the time where its 50/50 where they care about quality and don't care.
@@Brook11223are you dense? Why would netflix prevent this? They could’ve just released this film in it’s R rated form

So, it was netflix fault this time
There was a time where Director Cut movies were created for films people were already fans of. Now we are getting Directors Cut before the film is even a success.
Snyder has no excuses left. This and his failed Army of the Dead universe is proof that the guy is clueless.
I`m almost impressed with how little Snyder manages to make me care about any of the deaths on screen. When Nemesis died, it was like yawn, who cares, no one knew her. Just the little kid that tried to tickle her nose that one time and ran away when she caught the straw he used. very character building.
Total Sando.

Ive lost confiendce you can properly review a Snyder movie without bias. Any critic worth their salt could in no way shape for or fashion call this a coherent action movie. How many time will synder get a pass becuase "his directors cut will be better". Its his job to make a movie based on the tool at his disposal time being one of them.
Here's a problem with the film:
It's directed by Zack Snyder 🤮
You liked the first Rebel Moon more than the latest Star Wars movies? Dude... you are totally lost. xD
Bland movie with lots of stupid in it. I mean what’s with the guys down in the engine room of the dreadnought? Were they actually shovelling piles of coal into boilers??? A freaking coal powered starship???Also what about the search team in the starship who found a bag on the floor but failed to notice the array of brightly green glowing magnetic bombs stuck to the wall right next to them. How more stupid could this movie get? Well probably a lot more I guess.
I love sci-fi but this was just silly.
The first one was great, however this second one is bloated in unbelievably
I don't know I can trust the reviewer's taste anymore with his thoughts on these movies. These are objectively bad movies.
Like Madam Web, it is completely unwatchable. I feel horrible for Sofia. Russ Meyers is a genius compared to this mess. Zach Snyder is better off working at a grocery checkout.
Rebel moon definitely rip off star wars characters look they have light Sabers
