'The Scargiver' sounds like something an 9 year old would name their tin foil covered cardboard sword.
Bingo
Him and Elon Musk still have little kid stastes.
I think it was an early draft of the Tibetan Book of the Dead : “I am death, the scar giver”.
@@sfdko3291 yeah, those two are the same.... stfu
@@sfdko3291 Elon Musk makes electric cars and robots, puts ships into space, owns an internet company and 20 other successful companies. Snyder makes garbage movies. Don't compare the two.
@@ShadeDraws He doesn't make shit, his engineers that he hired do.
What I was referring to was his little kid antics and naming.
Snyder is insane. My best wishes to Gore and a speedy recovery. Love the commentating combo.
UA-cam sent me a message to review your comment. I stated it was informative, excellent and appreciative of the content creator.
Rebel moon literally feels like a movie made by a.i from start to finish, both visual and scripts, it really lacks any soul
The character designs look so AI there´s no way how they were not generated by AI.
We have always have terrible writing like this. That is why there's so much people who might be replaced by the machines
Nah, if it was AII, it would be better
It su unbelievably awful lol
Agree. Everything about RM seems tropey. I couldn't even get through Part 1
Praying for chris hope he gets better soon

I miss Chris, but I'm glad Alan is still making regular videos as he is great to listen to as well.
More to come!
"STOP GIVING SNYDER MONEY" 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I'm STILL laughing!!
Translation: Don't let Snyder cook again.
This seems to be a reoccurring issue whenever creative gets full rain over a project. James Cameron's avatar, beautiful but the writing sucked. Ben Affleck's Live by Night, once again absolute atrocious writing. Unicorn store! Directed by Brie Larson there's a reason you probably haven't heard of it.
@@jamesesparza6893 avatar and live by night are leagues ahead of whatever this travesty is, rebel moon 1 and 2 are worse than awful

@@jamesesparza6893 true, snyder garnering the kind of fanbase he has is so baffling to me, it's like if uwe boll had a dedicated fanbase lmao
Snyder still a thing because he lied to section of ppl who are anti marvel movies and anti big corporations he told the ppl that big corporations warner bros sabotage his vision 😂 ppl feed into it . He in interviews saying warner bros told him not to make batman or superman kill and that made him wanna make them kill more . So everybody blamed warner bros it was all the evil corporation fault for why his dceu movies where bad it was warner bros execs fault. He at Netflix made two horrible zombie movies and now two horrible Star Wars movies 😂 now the excuse is his movies gotta be rated r and 7 hours long and it's Netflix fault. It's always somebody fault for Snyder bad films
Yep, I quit halfway through part 1...then made myself go back and finish it just in case it got better.
Thanks for confirming that I have on reason to watch part 2.
It's got some pretty funny moments, one of her early flashbacks within the first 20minutes is hilarious, with the bad guy setting up his own chamber orchestra during an assassination to give some background music. This was meant to be a serious moment, it's spoof worthy levels of ridiculous.
Well, I guess I'm glad I didn't finish part one. Thanks for taking the hit for me. Garbage movie
We still have the merchandise from the first film on the clearance shelf at Walmart in Wyoming
What kind of merchandise?
Same here in Texas.

I had a feeling Rebel Moon was going to be a disaster. Thanks Dante for saying what everyone else is thinking ("...I don't get how he is still a thing ...")
Best wishes for Chris Gore & his family!
Snyder and others fail upwards you say? It's like the film industry isn't a meritocracy or something.
Alan and Dante are a solid combo. Alan is getting much better at setting the table and controling the convo. Just have to watch out for the blind references where you don’t explain the talking point to the audience.
Hollywood is full of problems large and small. One problem is how do you compare success of a netflix movie to a movie released to theaters before streaming? On Joe Rogan, Zack Snyder claimed that the first installment of Rebel Moon made more $$ than Barbie, ignoring the commitment involved with actually leaving the house to go to a theater. He computed that a 160 million 'sets of eyes' saw some or all of RM #1, which equates to 1.6 billion $$.
How can reason compete with that level of self delusion? How can Zack be forced to get his head out of that dark stinky place long enough to see the light of truth?
I love Alan and Chris but honestly would love if you guys would keep circulating your crew in like this!!
I remember going to the watchmen panel at comic con way back when. During the Q&A, a bunch of eager fans of the source material asked thoughtful questions to which Snyder offered dull non-answers. It was like “are you going to add anything to update the political commentary since the comic’s release?” To which he would say something like “Uh, It’s gonna look really cool.”
I lost faith in Snyder as a filmmaker since then.
Great job Alan. Dante you rocked it.
But you forgot to mention before the training montage ,THEY HAD TO SPEND 3 DAYS HARVESTING THE F$”@ing WHEAT!! sorry for the caps
You are correct, though. There shouldn't be any algarithms telling creatives what to do.
On paper, the basic idea isn't a bad idea: Marvel, Star Trek, and especially Star Wars are dead franchises, now. But there are still people out there who like stuff like Star Wars, who WANT good Star Wars. Well, instead of trying to find some old franchise to reboot, why not do what Stan Lee, Roddenberry, and Lucas did: make your own NEW THING?
The problem is they went with Zack Snyder. I know there's a lot of fans of Batman of Steel and Batman vs. Superbatman and the whole "Snyderverse" (and the only thing the Snyderverse got almost right was Wonder Woman (you know, the movie Snyder DIDN'T direct). I know there's people that even think Suckerpunch is an artistic masterpiece. But Snyder can't write - it's really that simple. And he's not all that great at directing. He doesn't get very good performances from his actors. He can create an amazing shot, but that's all he can do. The scenes that connect this amazing shot with that amazing shot, you know, the part where the actors have to portray a character and the PLOT actually happens, seem like afterthoughts in Snyder's mind.
Netflix is a algorithm driven company. I heard them discuss this at a data science conference five years ago. They literally use a formula to cobble together their movie content. This was over five years ago. They can predict audience engagement way in advance.
It's not really predicting the audience, people don't search deep. If Netflix promotes content into their top 10 or anywhere high up people will just watch it. Like old school search engine stuffing, where getting onto first page results gets you clicks, or app stores, nobody is scrolling 200 deep into the front page or search results.
I swear to God. Last night when was watching this I thought of all the people this movie could have fed if it was not made. What a waste.
You could say that about any movie.
@@scaps2200 100% and its why being talked down to and lecture by the entertainment industry is such a pathetic joke! their careers are a USELESS sham!
@@SuperSuperdude88if it is either feed people or make a movie then how much should be spent in making a movie? Should money be spent on entertainment at all? Thoughts?
It would have fed the investors. Because that's who the money belonged to.
@@jamesesparza6893 I don't really care about the investors eating. Lost me there.
Dawn of the Dead, 300, Watchmen. That's it.
The algorithm is wrong. It’s the only explanation
Alan is correct. I actually started to think that I may be psychic as the story bests were so predictable.
All movies and shows for the MoDeRn AuDiEnCe make me feel like a psychic.
really like alan and dante! nice seeing alan leading the convo instead of chris talking over him the entire video
Bugs Life is Seven Samurai, is Magnificent Seven, is Dirty Dozen, Is Rogue One. ( I want to mention Battle Beyond the Stars.) If a person is going to revisit the story,. One needs a compelling variation.
Fun fact! The Dirty Dozen was heavily inspired by the filthy 13, an elite demolition group in World War II led by a notoriously difficult to get along with gentlemen who went by the nickname mcnasty.
And speaking of algarithems, we should ask WB the same thing regarding their treatment of Superman live action films
Sounds like you are describing Battle Beyond the Stars
Seriously watching this knowing what happened to Chris is just 😭😭😭😭😭
In Hollywood they fall upward.
I watched the FNT crew tear into this. The plot sounded so stupid and ill-conceived it could have been a Red Letter Media Best of the Worst, only in this case it has hundreds of millions of dollars poured into it.
I can't believe I was watching people HARVESTING WHEAT in SLOW MOTION!...WTF This movie felt like trying to escape quicksand.
The more I hear about Rebel Moon, the more it sounds like Battle Beyond The Stars.
Hey, don't go comparing it to a cult classic! It doesn't deserve it.
Miss the Gore but Alan is still bringing the Threat.
The ONE thing Hack Synder is good with and this does well is dealing with corpo executives he understands how the "game is played" just like Adam Sandler
Don't compare him with Sandler. Talentwise, they're not in the same universe. Sandler's nail clippings have more talent than every single atom that makes up Snyder.
"Stop giving Snyder money!"
Me: "No." 😂
I followed the viewership numbers for Rebel Moon 1 pretty closely. While the numbers were ok, they were significantly behind other Netflix original movies that cost half, or even one fourth as much.
So if you calculate views per dollar spent, as Netflix does, it was a failure. Plus Netflix fired the guy that greenlit the first two movies. We won't be seeing parts 3-6.
Feel better soon!
The Adam Sandler of Filmmakers.
It doesn't even matter that it's trash. People will put it on anyway because it's the latest thing, and it'll get great ratings, and they'll keep making more. I know a ton of people who watched the first one, said they're going to watch the second one, and can't tell me ANYTHING about the story or why they supposedly liked it.
All my best wishes to Chris for a full and speedy recovery. But Dante is great. I hope he's on with Alan even more.
I might Watch It Just out of curiosity
But not on Netflix
After watching only 40 minutes of the first movie, (couldn't finish it) I can honestly say that I feel like a better writer now. Can't wait until I adapt my medieval fantasy into a series. Netflix needs to slide some of that money my way so I can give people a banger.
I love the thumbnail text: Stop Giving Snyder Money
1. I don’t think the success of Netflix should be extended to any of its movies. It has a lot of content as a platform, which makes it value for money. Most of its movies are at the standard of “content”.
2. I’d like to see evidence of this algorithm working, but regardless it sounds to me like nothing more than the automated next step from “movie by committee”. Rather than take risk on a creative vision, they will minimise risk by ensuring they adhere to what the marketing department say. This is why we have safe “content” instead of risky art.
3. I love that Dante says “shite”, like a British guy. Watching too much Guy Ritchie..?
I think movies/tv shows have always been an interesting balance of creative and business decisions but I agree formulaic has never been a positive descriptor for this type of media and the streaming age has taken that to a whole new level
When you give the kid that specializes in one thing only management, they tank the company. Like Kojima, Todd Howard, Zack Snyder, Nomura and many more. These individuals I listed are excellent in specific areas but once they get the reigns to the horse, good luck.
They'll never stop giving Snyder money while his films keep making money. Seriously this sh1te--part 1 AND 2--are hits on Netflix. So more is coming . I watched it to see how awful it was--and it didn't disappoint. I think that is why two-thirds of the audience are tuning in.
If Rebel Moon pt 3 comes out before Dune Pt 3 then Hollywood deserves its fate.
Good critics and bad critics is publicity either way. If you talk about it, algorithm is happy.
I don’t think Netflix will finish the 6 movies they promised him, see the trend?
It took me like four tries to finish the first one. I haven't been able to click on this second one.
Have hope! Wait for, "The Snyder Cut" of this. 😂
Thank God Synder is not involved with DC anymore
I didn't like part 1 but part 2 was really fun and was the star wars movie I wanted when I was a kid, I could easily see it being alot of peoples guilty pleasure movie
4:05 back in the 80s they'd always put some T&A in movies, so that if the rest of it turned out to be shit at least it wouldn't be a COMPLETE waste of time.
Its an amazing saga guys
you can't have a tiny girl beating up other bigger men who are trained in warfare and just say oh but she has battle training
that doesn't track. she either needs some reason why she has super strength, speed, reflexes or whatever or she needs to fight in such a way that utilises her special training
it can't just be standard style fighting. no amount of training will give you that much of an upper hand
Which makes this unbeatable Mary Sue trope even more ridiculous is the fact every time the main character is a man and has to fight an enemy who is bigger and stronger than him he struggles and wins thanks to some good luck, with help of some other character(s) or because he has significantly better fighting skills or outsmarts the massive villain.
@@Mouse_Metal exactly
and that takes some creative writing
not what they do with these mary sues
cooperative stuntmen FTW
You guys didn't see Zack on Joe rogan this was definitely a 2 movie contract with an extended rated R version
I thought Rebel Moon was major league bad and I'm a Zack Snyder's fan. He said in an interview that the R version is way longer and very different; we'll see, but I have serious doubts that he can save that garbage with a longer version. 🤦♂
@@Age_of_Apocalypse, yes another opportunity to burn valuable hours of your short life. Say no to this crap. Dont watch sh!t and don't watch extended versions of sh!t. Life is too short, really
I'm glad and proud to say that I didn't watch Part 1 and won't watch Part 2 neither 😄
The only positive thing I can think of to say about it is that the lady with the knives that are clearly lightsabers fighting the spider was kind of cool. They could have probably gotten away with a movie just about her and the robot on an adventure to overthrow the main character with the bad haircut who used to Warhammer 40K pistol rifle thingy without the iron sights. Also, maybe make things more colorful and less drab?
Do people really think Netflix has good shows/movies in 2024?
Budgeting behind this, Alan? Has Chris not explained to you why regarding the HR department?
I love black Chris Gore
Rebel Moon double feature, Alan I'm not sure how you made it through lol
If an algorithm produced this, you need a new algorithm...
Guys, this is not regular cinema. This is a streaming plataform. Netflix don't need their movies and series to be good. They only need a steady stream of content. If people are watching and subscribing, they will claim success and move on to the next big thing. It's so simple.
None of Snyder films have ever lost money and usually make double or triple their budget.
Triple their budget?? 😂🤣😂🤣
@@ReggieBishop 300 budget 60 million total made 455 million

Just wanted to say I wish Chris a full recovery and best wishes for his health long-term. Im sorry you guys also had at that same terrible time. Some terrible people steal from you guys while on vacation. Just wanted to give my respects and best wishes to Chris and you all at Film Threat.
If he stops watching FNT he will stop stroking out.
my theory is: Snyder will reveal that the standard versions of REBEL MOON were written by AI, and the extended versions coming in June were written by humans. it's all a big demonstration of how human writers are superior to AI. that's why he said the Snyder Cuts will be completely different movies. i do know this theory isn't true, but it would be the only explanation for how these standard versions can be this bad.
Snyder has no excuses left. This and his failed Army of the Dead universe is proof that the guy is clueless.
Failed Army of the Dead? He got a spin-off, comic book series and a sequel coming? It aIso was very successful for Netflix. Your definition of failure is quite strange.
@@scaps2200 this is pure cope lol those sequels and spin offs aren't coming, if it was actually a success for Netflix we'd already have a sequel by now.
@@DBCooper01 they already had a spin off released years ago.
@@DBCooper01 sequel was delayed due to his rebel moon movies.
One thing I've learned from Netflix stories is that if you need their algorithm to help make your movie good, you're not a good film maker.

Maybe they tallied up searches for "Star Wars", "Seven Samurai", "Hidden Fortress", "Kurosawa", "Magnificent Seven", or "Battle Beyond the Stars" and figured, "Why stream those when we can just rip[ them off?"
BvS is Zack’s highest grossing film
Jon Favreau already "borrowed" Seven Samurai story in one of the episode's in Mandalorian. It was short 30min episode.
Jack Snyder say's hold my beer and decides to make 6 hours of the same concept. Zzz...
And Favreau did it in a way which made sense. The village was attacked by some local bandits, not by the current intergalactic government.
@@Mouse_Metal Defending a village from raiders is a standard trope for a filler episode on TV. But an intergalactic government? WTF
Reminds me of a David Bowie quote, I don't study anything I can't steal from.
Did Disney re-write rejected Star Wars movie scripts into D+ show scripts. Its Kinda weird Snyder to have same story but several years later...
@@thatHARVguy Poor intergalactic evil empire, they can´t grow crop, so they have to steal it from this one village.
The answer? Probably DEI Payola. At least that's what I call it. Overlord DVD just released a video about it. Producers are reported to have been given wads of money for reaching certain DEI metrics in casting, so such bonuses for hiring writers, etc. is no stretch of the imagination. Resulting in no stretches of the imagination in the movie making process.
"The algorithm said add this and it succeeded". Counterpoint, correlation does not equal causation. Could be his movie would have had the same performance without the addition.
We we’d all hoping for a Zak Snyder version of BATTLE BEYOND THE STARS but instead we got this Star Wars spinoff that Disney would not Green Light.
Ever since BvS, I feel like Snyder just puts up dramatic scenes and expects me to feel something, and yet I don't.
Case example: Superman dying in BvS.
How could I feel any loss for someone (Superman) who brooded and ran from his problems all the time? And add to that, Wonderwoman could clearly held the kryptonite spear for him.
Stupid death for a stupid character.
When the scene of people crying in the rain played (of course in slow motion), I could almost hear Snyder saying, "Here's your cue to cry."
I felt disgusted instead.
Get well soon, Mr. Gore! We're rooting for you.
Snyder appearantly, Had a brain hemmorage after Watchmen lol Even Man Of Steel was just kind of odd.
I think science fiction is having a moment and is probably great for the algorithm. There's only a handful of big science fiction directors that you would trust with big money. They just gave free reign to the wrong one.
Knowing what It was gonna be, I enjoyed it very much because it was so bad. Laughed at the dialogue... Laughed at the futuro-viking villagers with suspenders and little hats that would made middle-aged british pub crawlers proud... Laugh at 'world-building' limp attempt and laughed at all the slowmo. Get a group of drinking buddies and watch this!
4 more parts are coming.
I have never understood Snyder, there’s not a single movie of his I have ever liked.
You are so polite… there is nothing to understand, listen to his Joe Rogan interview, he can even coherently express himself or thoughts coherently
Yalll do know he has four more movies to do in Rebel Moon and he also has Director Cuts
There was a graining montage.
a bugs life 🤣
When’s Chris coming back? Great job everyone.
The head scratcher.
Snyder is the KING of style over substance. It got old for me after seeing Watchmen. After that I just roll my eyes whenever I hear about some new project he is working on. He did improve that justice league abomination, but that is like scraping the mold off the top of some old yogurt, then calling it good.
I feel he had a good idea even if the story has been done it can still be a success. Look at Avatar Cameron Pocahontas/Fern Gully.
He just needs to slow down. I believe he had atleast 4 movies they could have made pre rebel moon and to set the scene and tone.
The Princes story the brother and Sistrr and Samurai mom the genrals failure would have been good solo movies like the how the mcu has done it.
Rebel Moon bringing it all together adding farmerboy and Kora to the mix.
I liked the first half of Man of Steel and the post credit scene.
Now I'm starting to wonder if Man of Steel was a 6/10 because of Zach not dispite him?
I can agree that the first half of Man of Steel was good, except for not saving his father! if his dad would have died from natural causes instead I would be fine with it! but not raving him because it would reveal his powers to everyone there, seems dumb IMO!
Then he killed Zod, witch I get why he did it, but having Superman kill anyone felt wrong to me!
Netflix has raised fees again, I cancelled my subscription yesterday. I won't finance this crap plus Harry and Meghan anymore. I will return for one, two months per year to watch the good stuff.
