Ordered a 370 with the RVC bypass! I couldn't stand the voltage fluctuation even before I started adding more power hungry components. I can't wait to see the voltage hold at it's best all the time.
It can be annoying for those really wanting to slam some power. I usually say if you're not over 2,000 RMS watts then the 2 pin / RVC setup isn't really a big issue.

This! man it gets my ocd going and always makes me feel like something is wrong even though I know it isn’t lol. I currently have an rp 2000 and two evl 12s as a starter kit haven’t installed it yet but will be next week into my 09 tahoe I’m trying to get my electrical system set up to handle 5k watts since I know I won’t be going over that. Is this the alternator I should order along with maybe a second battery ?
Thanks for this video Tony. I remember coming by the new office you all have and meeting you at the counter and asking about alternators for my 03 Chevy Silverado. You showed me all of the instructions and even went out to my vehicle with me and showed me some tricks to help get the alternator replaced and the new belt. Will definitely be purchasing from you guys again in the future. Oh and yes... my voltage after engine warm up is right at 14.6 and takes a pretty big hit from the audio gear to even make that bad boy flinch.
I had the first setup on my 400 amp mechman on my 17 Silverado which was regulated sent it back to get the old style regulator for it to be stand alone and did the same bypass for the battery light won’t come on in the dash and I’m much more happier with the stand alone!!!
As of right now, it's not on the table. We're pretty sensitive on our brackets as they need to be built extremely sturdy, provide killer belt wrap to limit as much deflection as possible. So when/if we build one it needs to be better than what's currently being offered.
I just sent my 370 amp back to Mechman after a month of having it to have it converted as well. My truck was doing some weird stuff with the voltage with the 370 installed and Mechman recommended upgrading it to a one wire turn on bypassing the RVC on a 2015 Silverado.
It’s worth mentioning that the stock GM RVC feature has 6 modes: charging, cruise, deceleration regen, desulfation, high performance, battery warming. So, by just leaving it stock your lead acid battery will last longer, truck will get better mileage, and engine will make more horsepower. Just putting that out there so folks can make an educated decision on what they want to do.

You aint kidding about the heat. It was 90+ yesterday and I noticed the voltage was sitting around 14-14.3. I typically stay steady around 14.7. (2004 Tahoe)
The plug I got with my alt was not a one wire like this one lol it has a plug on it too I guess so I can plug my old harness into it but when I do it turns the alt off but if I plug it in without the harness it works… I have a 95 S-10 V6 when I hook up the wire to 12 volts it’s fine but if I plug my old harness into it it shuts the alt off
how can I get my 2 pin 370 running off the 4 pin plug . I bought the 2 pin based off my truck year 2005 Tahoe . But I didn’t know the truck was going to regulate the voltage . Is there anything I can do to make it stand alone . It is a dual alt setup
Is it normal for the P103 model to work when it wants to? Sometimes I can start the truck with no warnings or battery light and Sometimes I get warnings and battery light on. The model is plugged in all the way and is locked in place.

What's on my mind?? My trucks battery? Brand new! alternator? Passed the test it's a good alternator! Truck still dies overnight and now more recently when I hit the brakes hard or change into reverse and turn the wheels or if I shut it off and leave it for a few hours without using killswitch it's dead installed a killswitch to shut off all power overnight.. and it still dies after a few trips from a freshly charged battery and shutting off main power as soon as I get out of truck .. got any ideas??? I've done Amp draw test in line on ground no draw when just disconnect and reconnect battery after stuff goes to sleep I dont have the rvc fuse so i dont have that generator battery control module.. .. ..stumped 2005 chevy silverado 4wd extended cab 5.3l
@@darinmoorman1872 Ideally, no. This means you have some issue to look into. What is the RMS rating of all the amplifiers you have? You possibly could have too small of an alternator for your setup. Also, what battery or batteries do you have? You could possibly need bigger or more battery reserve. You could also have belt slip problems. It's harder to turn an alternator when under load so if the belt is not gripping, its not turning the alternator to make the power it needs. Also could be wiring. Cable size, length of run and even grounding locations/quality. For reference, I have a SALT 1700.5 amplifier in my truck, 2 underhood AGM batteries and currently operating(testing) a 370-amp alternator. While cruising the voltage rarely fluctuates more than .2-.3 volts under full load. At a stop light/idle, itll touch on a 13.9-14.4 voltage range under the most load which is my ammeter soley on the amp(doesn't include amperage needed for truck) will usually pull around 155-160 amps. The 370 ap alternator makes around 190-200 amps at idle so this ensures i never dip into NEEDING the battery bank to support the power. If you are dipping into the 11 volt range you are needing more than you can provide.
I have a $240 amp alternator make man a 1200 watt RMS amplifier a AGM 1200 w battery 4 gauge running from the battery to the amp the upgrade one ground from alternator to battery of zero gauge one power from alternator to battery 0 gauge and it's the voltage on my radio that drops down to around 12 6 12 9 every now and then but my truck dash voltage will never drop below 14 I just bought a stinger to hook to my amp someone told me that the radio voltage might be off by volt
But the voltage meter in my truck never goes below 14 and before I put the alternator mechman 240 and AGM it did drop on the meter in my dash for voltage

You can't. You cannot run a 2pin alternator by itself, it needs a computer to operate it. Or, if you are OK with 13.4-13.6 volts it will default to that when unplugged/not connected.
Hey man, i called Mechman bc i purchased a MM 370 amp alternator for a 2018 GMC Sierra from D4S about 2 months ago and everything was working fine up until a couple of days ago, the battery charging system icon popped up on the dash. Went to get it checked out at an Oreilly and they said it was the alternator but Mechman said it wasnt. They said it had something to do with the RVC and ground wire? I didnt understand them. But why would my alternator mess up out of nowhere? All big 3 is hooked and all good, could anyone help?

Bought a 370 amp elite from down4sound for my 05 Chevy 1500 came with the 4 pin setup I can’t recall if it came with the p103 plug or not went to install it noticed the plug was different I was mad called down4sound said I got the wrong unit it bolts up but doesn’t plug in no instructions lol returned the unit to them took a 100+ dollar restocking fee wish they woulda talked me through this process wasted time and money still have to order me another alternator so beware guys and gals it doesn’t matter if you order the 2 pin or 4 if your gonna bypass the rvc system if I am not mistaken. This was couple years ago before these videos were posted fyi.

Hello I have a 400 amp alt on my 16 Sierra started noticing when I’m at a red light and not playing the music loud my voltage drops to about 14.2 but as soon as the light turns green and I hit the gas it goes back up to 14.6 is that normal during the summer since the temperature is rising or is something else going on?

@@jamiewiden9237 Thank you Jamie. We honestly just have a spool of wire, drape it over where we want it to go and cut it. Some people like to be fancy and loop it/trace it with other wires under the hood so what "we" think looks good may not be what you think looks good. :)
Do you have an option for a denso 421000-0810 alt? My Jeep JK computer limits charging to 14v but I need a min of 14.4v to charge my northstar x2 batteries

That application uses a small case style alternator and when you go over 300 amps, it moves the power UP in the RPM range so it won't charge much if at all at idle. Sounds like you have some electrical gremlins AFTER the harness.

Usually in those cases finding a different 12v switched source for the alternator can work. These newer electronics can be very finicky.

Once bypassed the sensor is no longer needed.
Just ground each battery to the frame.

Might be possible slight belt slip or just some good old fashioned heat soak.

@@mechmanalternators no worries, maybe I should have worded my question different. I was hoping that since it was the same setup as my truck will be that you had a designated length already for the 2014-2018. I have several tapes measures and I will figure out what I need. Have a great day!

Some people like to be fancy and loop it/trace it with other wires under the hood so what "we" think looks good may not be what you think looks good. :)

Would this setup work on my 06 impala 3.8l v6? Currently have a mechman 320a installed now. And at idle it dont charge for poo.
I'm only showing a 3.5 and a 3.9 V6 engine for that 06 model year.

@@garysimpalow7467 We do not advertise or sell a 320 on our website. That application uses a small case style alternator and when you go over 300 amps, it moves the power UP in the RPM range so it won't charge much if at all at idle. We 9/10 recommend a 240 version because it has the best balance of output at idle and cruising RPM's.
