Please keep this research up, the more we learn about Metroid Prime the better. I can't believe how much work has been done with tools that were around us back in the day, I haven't stopped checking the Microkorg because of that. Also happy Metroid Prime Anniversary
It just goes to show that the little guy still don't get nearly as much appreciation as these big time composers who make millions, okay, but if it weren't for us a little guys who with big ideas these big corporations wouldn't nearly be as memorable. Thank you so much Max for sharing with us, it's been a real pleasure being able to look for these videos and discover all of the sounds that made this soundtrack so amazing!
I'm speechless. This is genuinely good news! Happy for you man! ☺️ Edit: Happy Prime Anniversary! I'll never forget the first time I picked Metroid Prime up, and I'll never let this series go!
It's amazing that those drum patches were still saved to memory even after 22 years. Since those patches have now been backed up, are there any plans to release the sysex file to the public for others to use with their own machine?
The Korg sound has always been unrivaled. I got a Microkorg 15 years ago, when I was 13 years old, BECAUSE it sounded like Metroid prime, my favorite video game, who's music I was obsessed with. I then got a kaoss pad and was obsessed with korg in general because of the otherworldly sounds. Something I like about Korg is that it's hard to find a lot of their equipment in mainstream generic musician brick and mortar stores- it keeps the Korg sound special and away from normies.
So awesome you got the actual ER-1 used by Sabijan for sampling those sounds! Good to know they are in good hands. Even got the broken SYSEX dumping to work. You really go to great lengths to get things done. Very impressed!
Thank you for continuing to educate and share these amazing devices and samples. It's a real shame when companies try to bury their own work out of greed or pettyness. Thank for keeping this wonderful era of music alive bud!
Very Nice man! I cant help but feel glad for you, that you were able to get a hold of such a priceless machine! The sounds onboard are timeless from a long known masterpiece of gaming!
UA-cam algorithm brought me here and wow - this is so cool. Wow. The fact that the sample library is so tied to a unique piece of hardware answers a question I didn’t know I had about the soundtrack. Touching to see ztime be so game to share this too. Yamamoto collab next? 😊
Wow this is awesome! :) I miss my er-1 that died on my quite a bit lol. Lots of fun, funky, and freaky fm stuff you can get out of it's engine. How is ZTime doing? Hope he is well
Hey Aqua 1014 ... I'm doing great thanks for asking 🙂. Working on a completely new Drums-Beats library that should set the new era for film, music & media composers... hopefully😂. Love from Finlandia, stay Finspired🤍.
Really interesting to get insight in to the original patterns. The ER1 is a fun machine, would love to hear what is sounds like being ran through the DP2
2:08 are those actually "silent notes"? OR are they the Audio-In gate pattern, through which an external synth would be played? (I still have my ER1 and can answer tech questions.)
hi. i've got 2 ER1s. I haven't tried sysex dump and reload yet. I had heard reports of the sysex transmissions getting interrupted. I think this is the stream of midi clocks the machines sends by default. I think if you set it to midi slave before attempting transmission, there will be no clock messages to get in the way. Let me know if that solves it.
I'm speechless Maxy... thanks for all these kind words man...and your support. You are one of a kind! 😢. 🤍 🤍 🤍
Awesome video btw!
This is one of the sickest videos to watch as an isolated prospective music composer stuck in a tiny bedroom in NYC with no clear path forward

The er1 is one of the most underrated drum machines ever ! Anything from Ensoniq is always cool
Shiit, that's AWESOME!! Golden friend haha! Also, happy 20 years of Metroid Prime :)

DUDE HYPE! Glad you were able to back those patterns up.
ER-1's engine is still really unique, wish the drumlogue had it inside
Oh my gosh dude this is SO cool! I love your videos man keep up the good work!
Impressive work on that Backup procedure!
Oh my god, this is the coolest thing I could have possibly seen today. Thank you (and ZTime) so much for this
Thank you so much for your support🤍. Without Max and all you guys, this all wouldn't ever be possible!

haha... good question... 🤍

i can’t believe you got the very equipment Tommy Tallarico used to win Miyamoto-san’s heart
Fucking awesome. So glad to get into this!

If I do a live show I’ll use my ER1 for beats. Incredible value for the sound and features for around $200 on reverb
Good job ! 😁
I miss the recreation musics and metroid music inspired tracks...
More recreations and inspired tracks are on the way. I just started work on a Phendrana Drifts Deep Lake remix that I hope to release this month.

this is so cool!!! I hope you found a way to archive the midi dump online somehow so it can never be lost
I'm probably hearing things, but at 3:30 it reminds me of the low life siren in Metroid Prime.
Very cool indeed

Really interesting stuff here. It's cool having this small look into how some of the best osts I've heard in a game were made.
Never knew the humble ER-1 was used in the _'Metriod Prime'_ game.
Tommy Tallarico didn’t make it? Shocked, speechless
That’s so frickin cool!!!! I got one of these not too long ago and it’s still awesome. I’d say the Elektron syntakt is a modern take on it in a way
thank you so much
This is incredible!
Cool. Let us know if the patterns can be opened up in Korg’s new er-1 plugin.
Excellent work! ❤
whatttt this is insane
Oh wow, that's cool! :]
