The night I was editing this, the house that I rent got flooded. The water got close but thankfully, no gear or electronics were damaged. However we have no running water now because I think we have a busted pipe. Just trying to focus on the positive things now, hope you enjoy the video.

Sampling is just insane. The work the community has done to find and track the history of each sample is mind-blowing. Great video!
It's always so cool to detect certain sounds you hear from one piece of media ending up in another piece of media. Just goes to show how creative people can get with it and how small the world is in that regard.
Again terrific work. The choirs used in these games keep fascinating me. The Brinstar/Evangelion one sounds a lot like the one in the Metroid Prime Hive Mecha / Incinerator Drone Boss Theme.
But maybe that's also the one that you demonstrated in your Roland SC-880 video in higher pitch, just like Magmoor Caverns Main Theme. The Evangelion sample you played here sounds so much like the E-mu Emulator II does to me. Anyway: Hope you get the flooding under control with little to no damage.
Thank you so much, my friend. Hive Mecha is definitely SC-880, I don't think GALEERE was ever used anywhere else. The low choir from Chapel of the Elders is something I'm still not sure about. We're hanging in there, it's looking like we don't have running water until Thursday at the earliest.
This blows my mind. I'm always amazed by the complexity in the sampling artform.
Finally found a video on this. Yeah, imagine my disappointment to find the "warning siren" was actually just dubbed along with the boss fight 2 music for escape sequences, instead of being its own sound effect. I have wanted that sound effect since the 90's.

and it all comes full circle when you realise david wise (dkc composer) was a huge phil collins fan and was inspired by him
The video covers a very interesting topic i'd say. Sound is such an important aspect when it comes to creating that connection that leads to nostalgia, I always wonder where do they come from, how were they created literally. The process is something worth checking out and learning about it. Awesome video!

You know the sound the work robots in the wrecked ship make? They used the same sound in Yellow Submarine, of all places. I don't know where it originally comes from, but it must've been around a while.

Fun fact: The drums on Peter Gabriels' "Intruder" are played by none other than Phil Collins.
Tip: I think draygon or phantoon sound was from Mothra or some Kaiju from Godzilla Lore.

Nintendo always complaining about modding and taking inspiration from their games but they literally made most of their games based on American movies.
Do you use Chipsynth SFC to extract the samples from SNES for easier analysis? If not, I'd recommend it. :)
