Funny enough I just finished this game last week. Found this while roaming the map but you can actually duel Keith infinitely after the pier duel if you exit the map, then re-enter the pier. Enter the warehouse on the right side of the first screen and he’s hiding there, having an internal crisis about his recent decisions. Cheer him up and he’ll duel you whenever you want.
LMAOOOO why hide something like that? It's funny to read that considering what happens in the sequel. Thank you so much for pulling up and also for pointing out goof up from the last video! I truly appreciate the help

I can't believe I beat this game when I was little, I didn't even know about the deck capacity mechanic. I think my copy I borrowed from a friend, who I gave it back to after finishing it.
Lol now that I think about it, a good chunk of the older games had a deck capacity thing going on so I guess I only noticed it as a kid cause the others had it
Another great video! This one is real nostalgic for me. I was so young that I beat the game by simply using the highest attack beaters I could to run over the NPC decks.
Thanks for watching! I think a lot of people played and grew up with this game for sure. I wish they made more games like this over just battle simulators

My main goal when I started this channel was to spark the flames of nostalgia That I have for these games. I'm so happy to see people enjoy my videos. Thank you so much for watching 😭
I still have this game as a kid today. I have A funny memory about this game: Weevel attacked my Dark Magician with his Insect Queen and his monster died. lol, I remember being so confused. I also remember trying to get Dark Magician as quickly as possible.
I traded my copy of Sonic Advance 2 for this game in school and had a blast with how tactical you have to be in deck composition. One thing that offensed me was how gross the cash cost was for something like Rogue Doll. Then I saw neko-arc #2 and was all nah bro the grind is good 😂
I remember playing this game a lot as a kid, and very distinctly remember getting walled at Kaiba, to get the obelisk. Surprised to find out just how far into the game that was.
I got sacred cards like 6 years ago and I've been playing it ever since. Now that I watch this video, its flaws shine a little brighter but for me, but the simplicity, pacing, and the old-school cards make up for it in my opinion. Also, I really liked the editing and style of the video. Liked and subscribed.
Honestly your channel is amazing and I hope you really grow into one of the best UA-camrs or at the very least one of the best Yugitubers, and seeing this game as well as your Reshef video really makes me wish they ported the other videogames at least to PC. I'd love to play all the Yugioh games especially since the only ones I've played so far are Duel Generations, not bad but not great simulator with literally no story, Duel links, and Master Duel. Hell I wish Cross Duel succeeded cause it was honestly stupidly fun in my opinion. Oh well.
@@gameboylad oh I sure hope, that'd be AMAZING! finally be able to play some of the older games in their unique styles would be so cool! hope you're doing well gameboylad and stay positive.
What you said at 36:14 actually reminded of something. Some years back, I actually did manage to beat this game with the very first deck you get whilst trying to do a quick playthrough of it for nostalgia. Thinking on it, I think the major bumps in that playthrough were Mako/The Aquarium duelists due to the Ocean field and Marik due to his deck literally being much better than most anything you go against, everything else took either a bit of luck or just repeated tries. Ended beating the game in an afternoon iirc. The game is definitely incredibly easy, but I still look back on it fondly as being one of the first YGO games I played as a kid.
Yeah a lot of people are attached to this game because it was the first for them which is completely fine. But I wish more of these older ygo games aged as well as other games like battle network or pokemon
@@gameboylad 100% agree, MMBN3 is my goat for standing the test of time. In terms of ygo games, I think the pool is just really diverse. The really old ones are mixed bag, and the slightly less old ones are a slightly less bad bag. I think the DS World Championship 5D's games are my pic for standing the test of time, with a particular shoutout to Reverse of Arcadia, just because there's some legitimate effort put in to make them engaging for the player.
Joey really didn't deserve this kind of treatment, the self insert was just a reskin Joey, but boring, while the original we all liked, was getting cucked from all his good moments.
I remember playing this aswell as Reshef and I always asked myself, why Sacred Cards is weirdly easy, its like modern day Pokemon Games, you need a bit of knowledge about whats going on and you can be the champion
I remember thinking reshef of destruction was the harder game when I was younger so hopefully it’s a challenge for you, really good editing once this video btw 🙌🏻
Thank you so much for watching. Funny enough I had to leave a lot of edits out because the video wouldn't render right with some of them! Playing reshef right now and wooo it's a doozy
It's funny cause you would think at first not a lot of people played it. But then I remember that double pack. Imagine going from extremely easy game to a frustratingly hard game. Souls games got nothing on reshef. Thank you so much for watching!
Hey, btw, big shout outs about your attitude towards ppl nitpicking details in your vids, it's legit really mature of you to approach it in the way that you do in this video and it shows you care about how thorough your reviews are for these old games, respect 👍👍👍
The first step to growing is acknowledging your own mistakes and what you can do to improve. Thank you so much for watching and pulling up in the comments 🙏
I don't play Yugioh. I have no urge to ever get back into it. I haven't watched the show since battle city. I am now subbed and awaiting you're next video. You're doing something right with these videos.
This means a lot to me cause I want my videos to be enjoyable for not only the fans but for people who have not much interests in the game but somehow end up enjoying my video
Yup I use to play the TCG hard core for years. I think my peak active years were between 2010 to 2017. I stopped around 2019 though .-. My favorite deck and the one I won the most locals with was formula monarchs and I'll always have a soft spot for that format. Thank you so much for watching my video!
Was 3min in before I realized your view and sub count. I was surprised because the quality of your video is great. Hope you gain more success. Appreciate the content.
Shoot thanks for watching and pulling up to the comments. I'm just lucky people are able see my videos now. Playing reshef now so I got more on the way!
And another incredibly funny video from you, Mr. Gameboylad. As usual, the comedy is on-point. Gotta say, I wish we had seen more of this formula, I feel that if it had been paced better (and enemy decks were designed a bit better) then it could've been a pretty interesting experience. Sadly, the last game to go this way was Reshef, and it ended up going way too far in the opposite direction. Really looking forward to hearing your rants about that one xd.
lol Mr. gameboylad. Funny enough I thought I would hate reshef a lot more as an adult than as a teen but so far it's been a bit positive. Reshef had a lot of potential but it's gatekept by the difficulty of the game. It's one thing to be hard but it's hard for all the wrong reasons. Thanks for watching and pulling up to the comments!
@@gameboylad Yeah. Recently I played through the "Reshef is Tolerable" Romhack, and even though there's also a lot of grinding in that game, I found it to be actually pretty fun since the pace feels much better when you don't have to stop to grind at every story battle. Also, when the deck requirement restrictions are much more lenient, building theme decks also makes the experience really spicy.
I only remember getting extremely mad and upset that this game wasn't just more EDS when i got this game as a kid my mind could not comprehend the alternate ruleset i felt like I was having a stroke playing it i hated it lmao
As a kid one of my buds was playing this at a swim team meet. You had to sit around a while between heats waiting for your swim event to come up. He was super stuck at the Joey/Yugi water deathtrap. For 20 years I had no clue what that game was until seeing this vid today. Glad to get some answers there lol.
the thing that was broken in this game was tribute summoning. could sacrifice your monsters, dark hole the opponents field, then summon your monster lol
On my first playthrough of this game I did a couple of months ago I got a bit lost and challenged the security guard right away. And somehow won, which gave me a huge headstart in early game.
I love this game, despite how disappointingly easy it is. Like edutaintment for preschoolers easy. The deck building is genuinely fun, but since there is almost no challenge it doesn't feel rewarding. At least some of those early monsters with cool artwork are viable here. Also I appreciate it a lot more after I played Reshef of Destruction.
aye i recently subbed when watching your DDS coverage. i didnt personally know anyone else who has the game so hearing someone else who has the same experience is always nice. your video quality is dope bruh keep it up!
Thank you so much subbing and pulling up! I think the games most people I grew up with at the time had was this game, YGO WC 2004, Reshef, and most of the early console ones. YGO games were selling like crazy in the early stages
@@OnyxRanger09 Funny enough I think I have archive footage on twitch of me playing the first ruby destiny. The one I have the most memories of was I think one of the sequels though. it had a good and evil branching path in the mid point of the game, which was ahead of it's time. forgot the name of the sequel though. I want to return to my roots of making patchwork videos one day!
Just found your channel and subbed, love your editing and style. Not sure if you do exclusively GBA content but I’d like to see you play capsule monsters coliseum for the ps2 if you don’t. Keep up the great work!
Thank you for subbing! I plan to do card games and anything related overall. Capsule coliseum is definitely a game I want to cover! After reshef I plan to do one more hand held and then a console one
Fun fact, the secondary elements make sense if you think of them like magic. Shadow magic imposes magic darkness upon light, usually physical shadows. Light magic usually includes holy magic. Demon magic summons demons, which can't be tricked by illusions Illusions draw power from dreams, so going to sleep gives them more power.
Yeah I remembered I thought this is the worst game in the series.. then I played part 2 😕 the half bake storyline in part 1 was ok. Just because I like the tv series
27:10 real bro Just beat the game myself, and Interesting to see we both started with shadow monsters! Although i drifted towards a mixed deck with a focus on traps to protect my monsters. But your flip down spell would have helped out a lot more 😭

I'm so happy that people are willing to watch my videos anywhere at all! Hopefully they don't get on your case for watching my videos while on the job😂 Thank you so much for watching!
This game was good, shame you couldn't keep the Egyptian God Cards with you because it's "too much power" for you to handle. But at least it wasn't a painful grind fest like it's sequel XD. Can't wait to hear your take on it, it's going to be pure agony and laughter.
I think the game is decent for what it is which is being a game for like brand new players who know nothing about YGO. But I think some of the other games do a better job at that. The sequel already did a number on me so far lmaooo.
@@gameboylad i agree with you on that, for new players at the time this is probably one of your multiple choices to start getting into the games since it's somewhat more advanced in some regards in terms of the gameplay. Haha i bet ROD has you pulling your hair in frustration, if DDS was hard ROD was for me at least the only YGO game that i never bothered to finish. The grind and level difficulty is more than enough of a reason for you to never touch it ever again.
29:55 Funnily enough, yeah. They literally have a deck for him unused in the game, you just don't get to duel against it. They strangely enough also have a deck for regular Marik, though it is unclear if it was actually meant to be used at some point because it is just copied over from Duel Monsters 4: Battle of Great Duelist. (Though then again, the deckbuilding in this game makes absolutely 0 logical sense anyhow. Besides the obvious issue of nigh everyone using trash mobs, Odion has Relinquished for some reason and Yami Marik has three copies of Thousand Eyes Restrict, because thematic deckconsistency is for losers. The unused Yami Bakura also has Relinquished and TER, but at least we can assume that makes sense because he possibly stole those from Pegasus prior to the game.) 35:10 This is the most bizzare thing in this game. Yami Marik is the literal only opponent in this game who has any challenge factor at all, even tho in the original story, he really wasn't that great with focussing purely on sadism and was only a threat to start with because of overpowered cards. He only started playing with proper strategy in the final duel because he was cr*pping bricks by that point, which is clearly not the case here because he wiped the floor with his prior opponents. I suppose it would make sense for a final boss to be the strongest dude around, but the literal only reason this seems unfaithful to the narrative is because they changed the story to begin with, they easily could have made it work better with less plotchanges. 35:31 Well, I guess that's it. Strangely, the MC turns into a helpless noob again a few months later, while everyone else managed to get cracked.(This game and Reshef really are the strangest Yu-gi-oh duology ever.) 36:58 I love how the "The End"-message is just broken and you can't even save the game to keep Ra and get a complete decklist without cheating. What a quality way to end the game.(Not)
I think I personally prefer reshef but I lean towards stuff that left any kind if impression on me . I still remember reshef as of right now. I don't remember much about sacred cards
Man looking back... It really feels like in an early draft of the game you were supposed to play as Joey.

I traded my copy of Sonic Advance 2 for this game in school and had a blast with how tactical you have to be in deck composition. One thing that offensed me was how gross the cash cost was for something like Rogue Doll. Then I saw neko-arc #2 and was all nah bro the grind is good 😂
Bro I've been waiting for this, can't wait to watch
Y'all are so fast with this! I'm so lucky to even have an audience at this point 😭Thank you so much for pulling up and watching my videos
I remember this game. Don't know how I was able to beat it but I did . Good times
I remember playing this game a lot as a kid, and very distinctly remember getting walled at Kaiba, to get the obelisk. Surprised to find out just how far into the game that was.
The finish line was right there 🥲 I kind of wished I dueled kaiba twice just in case he had a bad hand.
I will say the pacing is a bit on point and never feels like your not doing much
Yooo 2:11 - SMT LAW theme? You really are a man of culture
Has some of the best tracks to me lol
Honestly your channel is amazing and I hope you really grow into one of the best UA-camrs or at the very least one of the best Yugitubers, and seeing this game as well as your Reshef video really makes me wish they ported the other videogames at least to PC. I'd love to play all the Yugioh games especially since the only ones I've played so far are Duel Generations, not bad but not great simulator with literally no story, Duel links, and Master Duel. Hell I wish Cross Duel succeeded cause it was honestly stupidly fun in my opinion. Oh well.
They announced a collection that's being ported to steam and switch so their may be hope!
I just found your channel, and man, you're awesome. I can't wait for more videos, and for your channel to pop off.
Thank you for pulling up! Would be a blessing if things did take off. Till then I'll try my best to be consistent with my videos!
Joey really didn't deserve this kind of treatment, the self insert was just a reskin Joey, but boring, while the original we all liked, was getting cucked from all his good moments.
Man is just wearing thick glasses at 5:37
Try those on and you lose your sight immediately
I remember playing this aswell as Reshef and I always asked myself, why Sacred Cards is weirdly easy, its like modern day Pokemon Games, you need a bit of knowledge about whats going on and you can be the champion
I wish dev logs and interviews with the directors were more common place for the time. So much lost in time
I remember thinking reshef of destruction was the harder game when I was younger so hopefully it’s a challenge for you, really good editing once this video btw 🙌🏻
Thank you so much for watching. Funny enough I had to leave a lot of edits out because the video wouldn't render right with some of them! Playing reshef right now and wooo it's a doozy
Reshief of destruction isn't hard, it's just tedious
Absolutely loved the video man, can't wait to see your video on Reshef of Destruction. One of my childhood games, could NEVER pass it lol
It's funny cause you would think at first not a lot of people played it. But then I remember that double pack. Imagine going from extremely easy game to a frustratingly hard game. Souls games got nothing on reshef. Thank you so much for watching!
@@gameboylad lmfao true I love both games but I definitely find Souls easier. Look forward to your next videos man!!
@@gameboylad can't wait to see your channel continue to grow, looks like it's going well so far!
I love your content so much! Just binged all your videos.
I was also wondering if you played the TCG. And if so, how much?
Yup I use to play the TCG hard core for years. I think my peak active years were between 2010 to 2017. I stopped around 2019 though .-. My favorite deck and the one I won the most locals with was formula monarchs and I'll always have a soft spot for that format. Thank you so much for watching my video!
@@gameboylad Thanks for the reply. I think this info about you really helps give a good retrospective into your opinions :)
Imagine a Yugioh Sacred Cards-like MMORPG
The amount of kids and teens that wanted something like this in the late 2000's
12k views, but only 1.98k subscribers? the math ain't mathing. subscribe to this mans tf
Let’s gooooooooo. Love these videos. You even got bots on your videos now. You blowing up
I just saw that bot and had to remove it lmaooo. I have the hold comment thing off but I might have to consider turning it on in the future
Rediscovering games deep in the crevices of your memory is the best
You def deserve a sub.
Thank you!!!
the thing that was broken in this game was tribute summoning. could sacrifice your monsters, dark hole the opponents field, then summon your monster lol
I didn't even think of that lmao that's cheesy
good game if not for the type weaknesses
and I wish we could use ra as well
Perfect, now I got the best thing to watch on my break🔥 Still waiting on that Duel Academy content tho🫡
That will be the most true experience cause I never played that game before. Can't wait to make a video on it!
@@gameboylad Glad to hear! You will be in for quite the ride tho. Spoilers: you actually start with decently good cards.
Love the Smt sound track in the video.
SMT is just a stellar series and I'm surprised they haven't invested in making a card game and pushing it
On my first playthrough of this game I did a couple of months ago I got a bit lost and challenged the security guard right away. And somehow won, which gave me a huge headstart in early game.
Him and bakura give such a huge amount of reward for that point of the game. It felt like cheating lol.
21:26 i already know the answer, but the "NO" made me die XD
If you're playing reshef God have mercy you're using the "it's actually bearable " patch
I wasn't aware this patch exist until recently. I kind of want to play it a bit after I beat reshef
Nice video Dude
Thank you 😭
aye i recently subbed when watching your DDS coverage. i didnt personally know anyone else who has the game so hearing someone else who has the same experience is always nice. your video quality is dope bruh keep it up!
Thank you so much subbing and pulling up! I think the games most people I grew up with at the time had was this game, YGO WC 2004, Reshef, and most of the early console ones. YGO games were selling like crazy in the early stages
@@gameboylad oh btw do you plan on covering more pokemon rom hacks? if so have you heard of the Ruby Destiny series?
@@OnyxRanger09 Funny enough I think I have archive footage on twitch of me playing the first ruby destiny. The one I have the most memories of was I think one of the sequels though. it had a good and evil branching path in the mid point of the game, which was ahead of it's time. forgot the name of the sequel though. I want to return to my roots of making patchwork videos one day!
@@gameboylad there was a legends one, a rangers and a guardians one. i just dont remember the exact names
@@OnyxRanger09 Guardians rings a bell the most! I think i still have my old save file too so I'll look into it when I get the chance.
After reshef I plan to do one more hand held and then a console one
yo i messed with this video heavy! great job!
Shoot I'm glad to hear you enjoyed it. thanks for watching and pulling up in the comments!
Fun fact, the secondary elements make sense if you think of them like magic.
Shadow magic imposes magic darkness upon light, usually physical shadows.
Light magic usually includes holy magic.
Demon magic summons demons, which can't be tricked by illusions
Illusions draw power from dreams, so going to sleep gives them more power.
Yeah I remembered I thought this is the worst game in the series.. then I played part 2 😕 the half bake storyline in part 1 was ok. Just because I like the tv series
This is BY FAR my favorite yugioh game I’ve ever played
Oh my god, I think this was the first yugioh game I ever played! The memories!
Great vid! Also, Reshef of Destruction💀💀💀GL with all that
I'm a quarter through the game so far. It's rough but has some charm to it that's gatekept by the difficulty. Thank you so much for watching!
Was addicted to this game as a kid great video
I can relate to that. I probably spent way too much time on duelist of the roses back in the day. Thank you so much for watching!
I remember beating this game with witch's apprentice and then trying to keep the god cards at the end.
27:10 real bro
Just beat the game myself, and Interesting to see we both started with shadow monsters! Although i drifted towards a mixed deck with a focus on traps to protect my monsters. But your flip down spell would have helped out a lot more 😭
Glad I found your channel your videos are great
I'm glad the algorithm is giving my channel a chance to breath in it's infancy. Thank you so much for watching and pulling up in the comments!
I loved your last video and watched it while I was at work. I'm very excited for your future videos. Your editing and explaining is entertaining. Hope your videos get more views, you channel is underrated. Keep up thr good work.
I'm so happy that people are willing to watch my videos anywhere at all! Hopefully they don't get on your case for watching my videos while on the job😂 Thank you so much for watching!
Awesome channel!
Glad you enjoy it! Hope to bring more entertainment for you
Great video, I really like your style.
I try to do my best whenever I can. Thank you so much for watching
Reshef of destruction is EVIL. Literally Kaizo Yugioh.
I wonder what they was thinking when they cooked that game up
This game was good, shame you couldn't keep the Egyptian God Cards with you because it's "too much power" for you to handle.
The grind and level difficulty is more than enough of a reason for you to never touch it ever again.
there's a patch you can find by googling, it's called "reshef is actually bearable now" and it makes the game really fun, i replay it a lot
@@ichbinschwul187 thank you for telling me! I had no idea this was a thing! Definitely will mention it in my next video
The unused Yami Bakura also has Relinquished and TER, but at least we can assume that makes sense because he possibly stole those from Pegasus prior to the game.)
35:10 This is the most bizzare thing in this game.
Strangely, the MC turns into a helpless noob again a few months later, while everyone else managed to get cracked.(This game and Reshef really are the strangest Yu-gi-oh duology ever.)
36:58 I love how the "The End"-message is just broken and you can't even save the game to keep Ra and get a complete decklist without cheating. What a quality way to end the game.(Not)
So weird how little effort they put into this game but reshef has so much effort that's gate kept by it's ludicrous difficulty
man i loved this game, it was amazing imo i kinda wish they kept the card code scanning feature the older games had
I think it does have a password machine but the game was easy enough to not need it. The sequel probably made everyone check their cards for codes 💀
i know it had i meant they kept the feature for newer games @@gameboylad
I love this game, i actually beat it the otherday. I really wish we could get more rpg like yugioh games
If Konami actually put in effort in making modern day ygo rpg, it will literally print money. Problem is that we have to depend on Konami to make it 😭
This game was surprisingly easy compared to Reshef. Weird dichotomy between the two. Not sure which one I preferred tbh.
I think I personally prefer reshef but I lean towards stuff that left any kind if impression on me . I still remember reshef as of right now. I don't remember much about sacred cards
Okay but the Under Night intro is so dope
The OST for Under Night goes crazy
I am recently finishing the Yugioh GBA games and the only one left is...Reshef of Destruction. Oof.
Let's wish each other the best for our playthroughs
@@gameboylad Thanks, man
