SU won without question. DEGA was loud but that was it. Balance, Blend, Pitch,Intonation, Tone quality were all non existent. It takes more than volume to win a battle. Dega wasn't much louder than SU yet the difference in sound is night and day. Admittedly SU had a few hiccups but for a college ensemble to produce the sound Dega did is a joke. I was more impressed with Landry Walker

I think other bands try to out blow SU and that’s one of SU’s strong attributes and they have no chance with that because SU is clean with their power. In other words other bands stand a better chance if they go with arrangements and clarity, but even then SU has the upper hand because they do it all greatly.
In my unbiased opinion from a very neutral NYC. Southern University won this encounter, in a very big way! The music was dynamic and complex and just damn enjoyable. My regards to both great marching bands.
SU should only catch fresh bodies on Bloody Sunday. Talladega had their shot years ago.. Its time to move on and give others a chance to compete against the best

Overall the Juke gets the dub. 'dega had some eye-raising moments and I give them all the credit for sounding very mature. I just was hoping it wasn't going to be a repeat of what Miles College was handed last year. Talladega hung, I'm impressed. They'll be in the top 5 for sure come the fall.

This was a battle of LOUDNESS. Funniest parts of battle were: at 9:51.....SU was Shook and Nervous and messed up....at 17:52 Dega tried to cut through SU and it didn't quite work out . They both sounded the same after awhile trying to out blow and cut each other off.

As a fan of your brand, I would prefer to hear the sound from a distance rather than see the members up close. You can always zoom in from a distance. After becoming a Southern "Jukebox" band members, "All" suppose to be good musicians knowing the scales.... To be quite honest, preparing for a halftime show is much harder than a Mardi Gras parade. During football season, those members in SU band that didn't travel for Mardi Gras season put in alot of hours just to make all those designs on the field to make SU great. SU have an invitation to march in the Rose Bowl in "2020", so are you saying they're going to march with half the band? I think SU whole band should all travel together like they all play together the band room. It's a question I wanted to ask. I hope that everyone get a chance to enjoy and travel to all events like one big "Jukebox" family.

Southern was more consistent with balance however TC wasnt bad they were okay. Some of the song selections werent in their favor. But to say they were just trash nahh...personally, ive heard SU sound way better. TC does need to come up in some areas but thats expected they have only been in the game 7 years in comparison to SU.💯💯

I think SU whole band should all travel together like they all play together the band room.

Southern was more consistent with balance however TC wasnt bad they were okay. Some of the song selections werent in their favor. But to say they were just trash nahh...personally, ive heard SU sound way better. TC does need to come up in some areas but thats expected they have only been in the game 7 years in comparison to SU.💯💯

It'll never happen. Trust me they focus their power ON the baritone section. And they try to get screamers, they don't try to get a powerful trumpet section like Southern does. And as far as Mellos go, they need Jesus lmaoo
