The Talladega College Marching Tornado Band faces off against the Southern University Human Jukebox Marching Band before the Bacchus Parade, Mardi Gras 2015. This is by far not my best footage, please excuse the video. I've added raw uncensored commentary from a few new orleans natives that you should get a kick out of as well.

Btones and french horns brought out a WHOLE LOT MORE COLOR than SU..THEY WERE STABBING THE HELL OUT OF SU and wrapping their instruments around their neck..i call it MURDER !!! DEGA TUBAS, KEEP DESTROYING THEM ON LOW NOTES EVERY YEAR..SU TUBAS ARE PURE GARBAGE....dega trumpets are hanging with SU a little and i give them MAJOR CREDIT but thats the ONLY section that saves SU from drowning in feces, lol...i dare anyone that knows music to challenge them type of stats..lol...BURN THEIR ASS TO THE GROUND DEGA!!!! GREAT JOB!!

Horrible comparison .. the video camera was not positioned in the center .. Ridiculous to think Talladega even came close to winning .. SU was established in 1880 with much more History than TD .. and over the years have been copied in style by MANY black colleges, But NEVER DUPLICATED .. Read your History FOLK .. & show some Respect for SU .. They Originated in NO .. between St Charles Ave And Camp St .. when they outgrew the small campus .. they moved to BR .. because land was more affordable there .. Big Mike .. NOLA Who Dat. !!!
Talladega was established before SU....SU however did have a band before Talladega though.

I like SUs Arrangements better, both bands played very well, however Talledega was trying to play too high, and lacked a good foundation and bass with baritones and Sousaphones. SU had that. Like I said they both did well.
This battle need to be in the stands to hear the real deal between both SU ain't no punks at all when it comes to music and dega omega got that roar but got some cleaning up to do they gon hurt some bands once they do that but camera to far away from SU.

Man even Some SU band alumni said Southern took a L in this one but a reputation is hard to get past! Dega sound was on point & so was SU only difference was Dega was louder! And the people at SU must've thought so to because they loaded up for them this yr! Hats off to both bands! But keep if real & tip ya hat to Talladega!
The camera is right in front of dega whereas SUs sound had to travel not only a distance but through ppl to reach the camera. Now I do admit this is probably the best I've ever heard dega sound.

I'm not going to lie. but when I was there, I was on dega side. so dega sounded louder but i really can't tell who won. they both sounded great. they both played with power

not sure how anyone can listen to this and think that Talladega won. They sounded great overall but they were just loud and not showing the full range of their instruments. Southern just had better musical arrangements as well. Even when both bands played the Mike Jack song Chicago, Southern's version was just better.

Dega suck. The only band in the HBCU remotely close to SU is BCU. And there arrangements, book, and drilling would give SU the Win. J-State gives SU good battles but SU is on another level.

Dron Mangrum I’m not a southern or TC fan. I listen to both band unbiased Southern won. TC is good definitely but balance and some songs they are just all over the place. Now Southern has some flaws as well but I heard southerns arrangements. And southern won this.

Second B-tones to loud on the whole and half notes, there drowning out the trumpets witch are the melody of any band. Third I see more then 50 trumpets and can't hear any of them. Southern has half of there band. And sound like a C.D. Everybody keep saying Talladega a 3rd year program. I agree they sound like one. Listen to their B-tones on there runs don't sound like anyone of them are playing but there loud as hell on the whole and half notes. Southern won this easy.
