I have built one 700 scale battleship. The Schanhorst. NEVER EVER EVER AGAIN. It was the most difficult time consuming horrible experience I have ever had in model building lol. You have the patients of a Saint my friend and its a lovely build. I will stick to 1/200 scale warships , my old eyes and fat fingers and shakes are far more suited to that scale. :-)
Master Of Dizaster it's because of the size. There is a lot more detail in 1/350 or 1/200 scale ships compared to 1/700 and smaller. But because of the scale difference the pieces tend to be bigger. There will still be some small and mind numbingly frustrating bits on the bigger scale ships but no where near the same amount as a 1/700 where almost every part is tiny. If you're ever going to build a battleship I would recommend 1/350 scale. It's the perfect mix in that it's still very large and would impress anyone who looks at it and it has almost all the detail of a 1/200 scale but it's not quite as enormous spacewise. 1/350 is the perfect size to make a display piece. Plus the most array of the aftermarket upgrade parts are for 1/350.
Easy when you start young. And advance from easier to intermediate. (Little difficult). Which this is . Guess you don't have the skill or are to impatient
I used to do small and cheap warship models (scales of 1:1500 or so) in a span of a few hours and in few days leave them in post office or museum, counting on someone taking them. Turns out - these tiny pieces of art were enjoyed by people working at the places and often placed on the reception desks or somewhere around the reception. It was great because I didn't care much about the models but people seemed to enjoy looking at them - it's much better than them wasting away in my desk drawer.
Hi, I'm Italian, and I'm honored to see the show of your creation, I'm a little bit following you, but you're a true artist. Thanks to the wonderful creations you always provide on your channel, thank you very much
This is absolutely phenomenal! The level of detail... Wow! I am amazed everytime how much the wash can influence the look of the model. It looks flat and brand new before it, but after it is applied every little detail starts to pop and add depth... Once again, phenomenal work! I am in awe!
Thanks, a lot. My family has fond memories of that ship, for some of us go down with her in the last voyage. I find that your passion honours their service and sacrifice
I don't comment much if ever, but dude your stuff rocks. I have been following you for a year, if not a bit longer, but every time I see your stuff I get all excited. Keep going.
I hope you hear this often. This is simply astounding. I can't tell you how much I enjoy seeing your artwork. This might be hands down my favorite model of yours. Thank you for allowing us to see your skill.
A wonderful Battleship with a very sad History. The Roma was One of the Best Battleships ever built. I build her in 1/350 Scale from Trumpeter. In 1/350 is this Battleship Amazing.
Wow, wow and wow! Thank you, because I am Italian and I love this ship! It is my favourite one! Thank you, because you are my favourite youtuber that makes video of modeling... and seeing my favourite ship on your channel is fantastic!
your work is truly out of this world,a totally higher level, but what truly is also amazeing is the music wich you choose in your videos. Its so relaxing just to sit and watch you do your art and listen to perfectly chosen music that fits to the project.well well done.A true master.
What a great video: Great subject matter, Great treatment, Great detail, Good soundtrack, Good naration ( not too heavy, not too light ) . 2 thumbs up.
Superb work as always. A useful tip for the photo-etch railings is to draw around the relevant deck plates before assembly & then use these as a guide to forming the correct shape... much easier.
Very nice build i can't imagine working on 1/700 scale i struggle with 1/48 scale, I love your craftsmanship an attention to detail, keep the builds coming i have almost watched all your videos now. looking forward to the next one.
Lack of funds for enough ships, too. But honestly, that describes the entire Italian military in WW2: good troops, not enough equipment, highly variable officers, and atrocious national-level leadership.
Hell of a way to start the morning, watching you work David....sets me up for the rest of the day! Absolutely outstanding work as usual....not a ship modeller myself but would love to see a carrier one day......
Someone's UA-cam Username The Italian Navy was one of the absolute best, their Torpedoes were just as good as the Japanese ones which completely outclassed the american ones, their three battleships were the most powerful warships ever seen until the Japanese brought the Yamato and Musashi to the fight,of course we'll see the Regia Marina
Trumpeter do good models. I did a North Carolina as I have actual been on her and am very pleased with the result. Painting the detail is what makes the models and I can see you are much more of a pro than I.
I had planned to spend my retirement building models. So I bought a 1/350 Titanic the day I retired, that was ten years ago and I still haven't finished it.
I just don't have the words... "genius"? Even the music reflects the thought and sensitivity that you put into these builds. Just spectacular! If these videos reflect your approach to life, you're in for a beautiful journey, my friend. (okay, I guess I had a few words after all)
Nice looking ship, pity it never achieved even one combat mission! And was sunk by two German radio controlled bombs, one piercing right through the ship and exploding underneath her hull and the second piercing the deck by one of the main turrets and exploding in the powder room causing the ship to capsize and break in two!! Nice looking but completely inefectual! Hey but that's the Italians for you! As we say in the UK "All fur coat and no knickers"😀
Absolutely amazing build & what a beautiful colour scheme. It makes me just want to build anything watching you work. Thanks David. Can't wait too see what's next.
Thank you David I really enjoyed watching you build this model and your level of detail is outstanding. a real master of craftmanship at its best ,bravo👍
I love that you add the kind of flair that the ship looks used but the bottom part (the part that is in the water) Should look a bit scratched or something like that
Roma was sunk by the Luftwaffe on it's way to Malta to surrender, please consider HMS Warspite if you feel like doing another battleship someday. I love watching you make these models whatever you are building, especially the painting that really brings them to life.
Thanks for uploading this video you do not know how long I have been looking for a video that instructs me well how to paint and do weathering on a battleship! You solved my life Thanks plasmo!
Ha! Thanks for including my comment :) This is truly stunning work, and for your first ship - you've done an outstanding job! Great subject, great scheme! I'm taking a lot of inspiration from your work - your techniques are also helping me improve!

ABWM2 is it easier because its bigger or is there more detail on a 1 200

totaly agree - 1/350 scale is the best and easier to work on , with more after market parts available
I stared building planes when I was ten and now that I’m 15 I build 1/350 ships.

He has got me back into the world of model making after a 30 year gap. Inspired by his ability.
This is amazing! As an Italian, thanks for picking up this particular ship. Her story is so sad :(
I hope you hear this often. This is simply astounding. I can't tell you how much I enjoy seeing your artwork. This might be hands down my favorite model of yours. Thank you for allowing us to see your skill.
Awesome job! It is nice to see an Italian subject sometimes. You rendered it justice at all. Great ship!
Pure unadulterated artistry. David is definitely the high water mark in modeling. Just gorgeous.
well, my friend... I'm italian and i ve R.N.ROMA.
Thank you and congratulations, for your wonderfull model.
BYE!
My 1:350 Trumpeter Pola heavy cruiser buy brought me here once again a amazing display of skill and a fantastic build.
Never thought I'd see the day when PLASMO would make a ship, a very good ship! WE NEED MORE LIKE THESE PLEASE!
Thanks for taking the extra time to document this nice build. 11,000+ people obviously appreciate your effort!
I’m currently building this kit and there’s no way I can make mine look like yours you are amazing at what your doing
I'm just amazed at this build of the Roma. Great paint job. Plus the research that went into build, the hull colour for instance. Thanks David.
Wow! this battleship is the most beautiful I've ever seen, I understand your choice and all the visualizations it has
Excellent !!!! I'm building a 1/700 now. How nice to stop ,relax ,and watch an expert at work!!
Nearly passed out, holding my breath when you were doing the small parts....just unreal.

For me you are one of the best modelers
The way you complete these models is a work of art!
PLEASE more ships!
what about a submarine?
YES! Please build a submarine.
PLASMO - plastic models - subs are boring, it would seem like a complete waste of your time. Where's this Mig-29 you promised! :-)
PLASMO - plastic models could you do a U boat?
revell has made a 1/72 U Boot type 21 recently !
Simply outstanding. The attention to detail is fantastic.
Thank you David, you made my day. Cheers from Italy
I could probably build it until you came to those railings and stairs. That looks like pure madness. Hats down to you for building a beautiful ship.

"I need more details"
Possibly the very best in model building I have every witnessed. Thank you so very much for this!
Everything that you make, come's out beautifull... even if it's a ship and your first time! Well done keep up the good work!
the editing and the background music are the icing on the cake ... brilliant ...
Very very well, it is the same of the original RN ROMA. It is very beautiful.👍👍
Every time I come to your channel I am blown away by your amazing work....just when you think you cant do better..you do!!
Ahh... The benefits of being young... Great job.
The last time I built a ship this small was 65 years ago...
You are lucky to be older. A lot passed on the way younger than u...
The tiny ladders /Rails at 15:10 made it. What amazing detail work!

Breathtaking attention to detail. Fantastic build and great video . Very well done
I had to watch this with my reading glasses so I can see what happening 😂
WOW !! Just superb. With the pattern on the deck and the flag, the ship actually looks quite colourful, a change from all the shades of grey.
Bellissima la nostra Roma!!!Great job!!
David has reignited a love of scale modelling for me. I just love these vids.
My favorite battleship of all time
I bet on next gamescon, they always reveal new BBs tech tree on gamescom every year.
Yap, let's hope for that :)
Same, Vittorio Veneto class is my favorite class of battleships if not warships of all time
Sinmai Doungchana i like more Bismarck class than Vittorio Veneto class but i thin realy soon you see this ship in wows
Trivia: The Roma was the first naval vessel in history, that was sunk by a guided Air-to-Surface weapon system, the german Fritz X glide bomb.
Each video I think might be your best one yet, but I love the details on these battleships, so this takes the cake for me!
Holy shit... All those photo etched railings... It makes you want to jump overboard...
Don't do it, you can be the king of the world.
Oscar Kerkenaar you can’t, cause there are photo etched railings
You have cars, planes and tanks, but this only ship is the biggest and best project you have ever done! Sehr gut gemacht!
Bravissimo :D
Incredible work, every time I view one of your videos I'm blown away by the skill and quality of finish

Lack of funds for enough ships, too.

This is incredible. Thanks for encouraging all of us modeler to get out there and try some new things! You rock!!
What a beautiful model, and a what a wonderful work! How much time took it to you?
