I don't know if I've said this before, but I don't even make models. I watch your videos to remind me that there is always a way to improve. When given a product or solution that seems "good enough", there is always something you can contribute and a new high standard of excellence to establish. Each project is a learning experience. Thank you for going through the trouble to record your process!
go build models man, best hobby there is!!!!!
Theres diffent levels of commitment. All of them are ok, if you are happy with it. :))
Even more important is
Know when to stop
Wow. Monster size compared to the usual models. Resizing it down 50% would have definitely been a good idea in hindsight. Great build as always. Plasmo delivers.
Would be nice to see how she looks in 1/350 scale which is a very common scale in ship model building.
This ship is an absolute beast in World Of Warships. You did an incredible job. The model is absolutely stunning.
Really an absolute beast? it's a tier 3 CL with most of it's armement in casemates with limited firing arcs, what you meant to say is it's quite a fun ship to play, that's about it.
Using all of its side guns makes you feel like you're using a 18th century ship-of-the-line because of how much guns it has
@@yosefvonhansom2921 untill your on the receiving end of an AP salvo 😋
Beautiful build, just one flaw: the Stars and Stripes is from the wrong time period (ours)! The appropriate flag should have 3 rows of 8 stars and 3 rows of 7 (45 states from 1896 to 1908). But otherwise simply stunning what you achieved with 3d-printing 👏👏👏👏
I would expect a comment like this from no less than someone with a profile picture like yours haha.
@@ArenBerberian I mean.. It’s more of an accuracy thing.
@@ArenBerberian As soon as he put that flag on the ship it was something that I noticed. Hollywood tends to get it wrong in movies fairly often also. Sort of like the use of Aluminum beer cans in the TV show M*A*S*H.
@@ArenBerberian LOL Well, we all have our pet peeves, don't we? 😁
@MswUSA you are absolutely right, the National Flag of the USA had (only 45 stars) from 1896-1908. Read about it here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_flags_of_the_United_States
Раньше я за ужином смотрел фильмы. Последние пару лет смотрю на эти шедевры. Успехов в следующих проектах!
Dear Mr Plasmo,
To say I am impressed by this project would be to understate the matter to a considerable degree.
Weathering and shading at that scale appears a significant undertaking too.
An excellent result!
Regards,
Z
Absolutely beautiful replica of CA-20. Your artistic talent is truly a gift. I always learn a lot when watching you builds.
Impressive! Your careful and sympathetic detailing made the model a work of art.
You blew my mind on Yama, now again .. my perception is changed forever. You are the master
Nice job. For the small ribbing imperfections caused by 3D printing, I've found that scrapping them at 90 degrees with a sharp X-acto knife gets rid of them precisely, without unwanted loss that's often caused by a sander or grinder. Keep up the work, it's EXCELLENT!
I’ve used world of tanks for reference photos before, and the warships game has one of the best art departments going, whoever designs the ships does a damn good job for sure
Wow. Just, WOW! All 3D printed and it still looks amazing! Now, about you building a Fire truck.....
This is one fascinating model! It's huge - didn't click at first how big 1/150th scale would be for something other than a sailing ship, but it seems to go together fairly easily and the weathering and other paint details really make it stand out.
Stunningly beautiful . Your weathering precision is perfection . Never over done . Just enough to bring it all to life .
A new plasmo video, today is a good day.
Shows you how the 3D printers have come along!
What a lovely build and great paint job 😘
A new age of modeling has begun, where we can 3D print our kits. Nice build, I like the realistic decks.
Absolutely brilliant work, this is one of my favorite pre dreadnaughts and it is really cool to watch it come to life as a massive 3D printed model.
Watching your videos have given me patience to do more details on my own models
I never quite imagined that 3d printers would be able to make so good models
They do, but 3d resins printed parts produce more scaled quality resolutions
@@stevennagley3407 i see
Judging from this video, and also knowing from a friend who is into 3D printing with filaments (although not into modelling), the surface is very crude.
David needed to sand and prime again and again and again.
Also, plastic filament as well as resin is not cheap, the time to calibrate and print everything is also significant.
A proper injection moulded kit with some photoetch would be better for everybody. For someone with Davis skills, I would say even 100% scratch building may be more effective and give better results.
David sure made a nice model. But when you look at his 1/700 ships he did with insane detailing, and then compare it with this monstrosity.... I think he just wanted to try something new, or maybe even got sponsored from WoW to do this, and then just finish it ASAP without his usual patience and attention to details.
I'm really impressed by your weathering. Great Job!
mate your channel saves lifes and makes the world better iun every aspect thank you!!
The small parts are amazing, bringing the ultimate details to life, the way you paint and weather parts is fascinating. Thanks for very cool video
I have to say, For how crude the 3-D prints looked, you achieved a VERY nice result. Thanks for sharing.
Nice. Like the complimentary application of the two types of 3D printers and how you were able to resolve texture and seam issues.
Thank you , David .
🐺
I hope they make all the models available. The ingame models are so beautiful! What an amazing collection!
I would like to build the Yamato, the Richelieu and the Clemson.
Very good job! I like the larger ships because the scale effect is so much more realistic. On 1/700 ships, the halyards and masts always look so thick and unreal.
David, you should try to build the USS Texas in her current drydocked state. Would be cool to see you tackle the corrosion damage in her hull.
Perfect! Congratulations!
Wow that Printed Very Well! You Work is Amazing, it looks sooo Real. I’m still Shocked how well 3D Printing has come along.
Nice!
And it's in the beautiful "Great White Fleet" color scheme
I love that bow design. Even today is used! A new cruise ship have this bow design (whit some corrections). Is just perfect! And is a design from 100 years ago! Good work man.
The USS St. Louis is one of my favorite warships of all time and this video was amazing. Now I just need to push myself to get my own 3d printer and make this one for myself.
With 3D printing you consecrated yourself David.👏👏👏👏👏
I'm from st. Louis Missouri the southside of St Louis this is a grand ship outstanding work!
Welcome back. I hope you will continue building the larger scales. But I enjoy your videos no matter what scale or subject you use. You sir are an artist
Lovely work as always.
The green really tied it all together I think :)
May I suggest in the slicer you increase the wall line width ,wall thickness and, wall line count so that if you sand the surface to much it might not expose the inside.
Sometime in the future I would love to see you make a ship that looks like it was just pulled out of the water after decades of service or make a model of a shipwreck
Great effort making a silk purse from that clunky designed resin chunk. The weathering looks really nice.
Currently in the process of printing this in 1/144. I've modified the funnels to add rivets and make the ladders closer to scale. I've modified the .stl files for the main guns to fit into the casemates as 3'' guns since those are way out of scale.. Doing the hull in FDM and smaller parts in SLA. The deck planks are driving me crazy but theres no easy way to make them close to scale. Planning to use photoetch for ladders and railings. Can't wait for more digital designs for ships.
Very nicely done on a stupendous project. Lots of paint! Lots of everything.
Can't help but feel your heart wasn't in this build... I understand the size is a big problem but it feels so far below your usual amazing level of work. For example; I'm surprised how sloppily the black portholes were painted. And I was also expecting you to at least cut out the bridge windows.
Did you build this because you really wanted to build it or because the sponsor(s) chose it for you..?
No, no, I did not want to make any significant improvements. I wanted to show how you can paint the 3D printed model. Otherwise, you need a crazy amount of time to make it properly. I think one possibility to make it for the show model is to rescale it to 1/700, replace the railing, scribe new details, and add new ones. In this case, it is better to buy a plastic kit.
That deck looks amazing.
Is it wrong that I sometimes greet my wife with, "Hello fellow modellers!"?
Absolutely not, that's how I greet your wife too 🤣
(Just kidding, it's my take on "that's what she said")
I have never thought about 3D printed models
Amazing model of battle Ships, very very gorgeous work !
Awesome David! Really well built!
That's looks amazing in I love the old battleships. Well g done good sir.
Most incredible detail!!!👍
Damn, your printer does a great job. Testament to your attention to detail building and setting up your printer
Great job. I like unusual models. This definitely fits that description.
Outstanding! It’s nice to see you build different things 👍
i'm not a ship models guy, but this is beautiful. Well done, great work!
So incredible how you perform. Amazing
Those US Pre-ww1 cruisers are one of the most beautiful ships ever.
Awesome build my friend keep up the good work
That's incredible, I'm sure a kit of that scale would easily be around $200. Some day I'll get into 3D printing!
Incredible! First time seeing 3D printed kits
Everybody’s favorite seal clubber… exquisite model
Just goes to show it isn't what you have its down to your skills. Well done David!
beautiful model, please make more cheaper/smaller models (a super detailed 1/144 wwii fighter would be perfect) but keep up the amazing work! love from canada
she was an armoured cruiser, large but not a capital ship/battleship, nice work!
Awesome model! I would love to have rc models from this era
The last warships i built were HMS Hood, SMS Bismarck and SMS Scharnhorst about 30 years ago, i think those kits were bigger than me at the time.
Outstanding work
Huge. More World of warships models in future? They should sponsor you
It is not a Tamiya 1/200 New Jersey, it is a bit crude, but by heavens what a superb job you have made, you are a true craftsman. You could have fitted it with a clockwork motor, and it would have resembled a 1900s boating pond model.
Man, your voice is beautiful.
And of course the model is 100/10
Plastic primer spray paint. It really sticks to plastics and it has a thickness to it. Whilst for detailed surfaces, that's not exactly good, for stuff like the hull of a ship, it's chef's kiss. Best part, it's designed to go on thick, it has a very high tension, so it won't run (within reason).
amazing work as always. Thank you for the continued content. we really appreciate it.
Now that's nice, makes me wonder how Tillman design 4-II would look, decorated as a ship of the Great White Fleet, maybe modernized to say WWII status of upgrades.
The Great White Fleet, the USN Party Fleet of pre-dreadnoughts.
The best looking fleet look, ever, but outdated when they set sail for their world trip, by the Brits launching the Dreadnought.
- It's not the competition model, so we can leave it without improvement...
- WHO are you and WHAT wave you done to David?!?
You are very talented sir. Thanks for the video.
Magnificent!
The model, the build & the vid. Don't do any ship but this is a gotta have because it exist! 👍👍. Many thanx.
Just stunning, well done.
Well done David
Man, St. Louis class is just like those wooden ship of the line but with metal skin and steam engine. So beautiful
And a lot of guns. Though St. Louis herself never actually fired her guns. She performed essentially glorified ferrying duties, taking troops to Europe, and after the War taking them back.
@@joaogomes9405 yes, and a lotta guns
A very impressive model build indeed.
Superb build 👏
Is love to see some out takes or bloopers at the end of your videos, just to know you are human 😅
I find these PLA 3D printed models can start to warp and split apart at the seams in a few years, if not kept in a temperature controlled room. Awesome model and video!!!
If you ever make a 3D printed model like this again, there is special filament designed to be smoothed with alcohol. The alcohol slightly dissolves the outer layer and removes a lot of the layer lines.
Id die for these STL files ugh!!!!!
New age of modeling... You do... What you want...... Without tamiya.. Revell... Icm.. Zvezda... You build your model from zero... It is perfect...
Finally Deck Tan is used on deck
I love 3D printing. I don't even buy physical models anymore. very cool build.
The future of plastic modeling, welcome to the 21st century
Great video as always!
Maybe solution to 3D print lines are that you 3D print all the internal model structure and then you cover that structure with styrene or vacuum form styrene for the finished outside surface so that you don't have those lines on the finished surface
So beautiful 🤩
Brilliant work David!❤
Nicely done.
Should add one of these days some mussels and barnacles, because if it can grow algae those things can attach
Also should give any brass pieces below the water line dezincification or green oxide
What a frickin beauty! Amazing work, and I'm so glad to know you both use and encourage PPE when working with plastic dust. That stuff will 100% give you lung cancer if you're lazy with your respirator.
Excellent job.
Magnifique !!! Vous avez de l'or dans les mains !!!!
Just Awesome! Love that time period, subject. Makes me want to get a 3D printer. great build!
That looked so fun to make !!
Another great build Dave👍🏆
