This was the line that had to be crossed for Joel to understand how much he loved Ellie. He's almost there, but he is trying so hard not to feel it because of the loss he's experienced in the past. So when Tommy says he can take Ellie the rest of the way, of course Joel initially accepts. He has an out now. However, seeing how disappointed Ellie was at the idea of separating from him made Joel realize that it would be selfish to hand her over to Tommy. She didn't just deserve someone who would keep her alive, but someone who would die for her.
same thing when joel refused to continue smuggling ellie when tess is dying.. he knew it might hurt his feelings (we knew his past) to send ellie just to die

I rewatched this scene because it’s the one of the most unexpected amazing pieces of art I had ever seen, and I wanted to see it before they made the show version of this scene. Oh my, yes, that little look. I was surprised when they left such meaningful react out. I sure did not know why it is so important to me, too, till I have this comment of yours. Thank you so much.
At first I always thought Ellie was just reading a random book and the "boys, movies etc." Line came out of nowhere. Later I realized she was probably reading a girl's diary, that's why she said the boys, movies and the shirt goes with which skirt line, as the owner of the diary probably had a date or something before the outbreak started. Not sure how I didn't catch this at first lmao.
Love this scene. One thing I always found funny though is how Joel sees this entire civilization and just says "Fuck it let's travel while the sun is going down" At least take a shower man!

I thought it was quite natural. Sure people are unhappy it’s not the same, or as impactful (and it’s not) but Joel in the series is a different character, and it was a moment when he realises he can become a father again. Joel’s added scene with Tommy was extremely well done and afforded us an insight into his thoughts. -ellie looks more sad like she’s about to cry in the game
-we don’t get resolution in the game to the argument because it gets cut off by a fight while in the movie joel and just leaves like a jerk.
-no long horse ride with the elephant in the room dragging out the tension while in the movie they just wake up and say we’re leaving and all the action happens in the stables before they get in the horses

The woke of us show wasn’t bad but the game was still executed much better
Gay people existing isn't an "agenda". When will y'all drop this dumb sht?
@@HentsSauce uhh bud, the fact it was 'uncomfortable' is a YOU problem. Non homophobes would not be uncomfortable lol. Would you be uncomfortable if it would've been a dude and a gal?
Nije me briga za Ellie i za Joela, nego me briga za Abby I za njezine roditelje.
Isn't Maria Black?
I think in show
they blackwashed her in the show, typical Neil Druckman
@@dinoblade8167 shut the fuck up you whingy fucking baby holy shit
@@jaiviraj Joel and Tommy are hispanic now, Maria used to be a blonde white girl and now is black. Joel's blue eyed blonde daughter suddenly turned mixed. Hey let's not act like there's not something going on here. It's either Neil Druckmann or HBO going for some woke shit. Hey, atleast they will make sure the pedophile is white. If you care about source material, this should bother you as much as the next guy.
Man the show really rushed this scene..
It's not hitting as hard as the game does
Idk why they aint put more of the action into the show...but they put all the gay dramatic shit in it...
The game did it better
Holy shit I hated Maria in the game
Wow she just loves her husband and wants him safe how horrible of her
"so don't tell me I would be safer with someone else because the truth is I would just be more scared"
And "everyone fucking except you" in my opinion bella kinda made it a little better in my opinion but that's it so far
I can't believe they black washed Maria
@Isty if anyone was bland it was Maria. I fell asleep during that hair cut scene
@Isty now I know you're trolling. Pedro was clearly the right choice. Can't say the same for Maria and Sam.
@Isty it does matter because if they choose the black and disabled actors because of their disability/race instead of talent, then it's going to affect the quality of the show as it did because Maria and Sam actors were terrible diversity hires
@@MaverickIceman- I thought she did well. Why assume they picked her because she’s black? Did someone tell you that? Would it upset you if someone had blue eyes instead of brown eyes? What if someone was short in the game and they were tall in the show? Who cares what skin color someone has?
@@BoomerPlusUltra that's clearly the only reason. If that episode was made 10 years ago, there's no way she would have been black. That would be like casting Lori from The Walking Dead black
In each of these remastered editions the people keep looking uglier and uglier!!! LOL.
nah, they just look more realistic thats it
@@clementine2718 It looks hot, when everyone on the game looks older, and you can see the wrinkles, grey hairs, and liver spots on their skin? Plus, they did change way many characters look outside of aging them up. I like classic the TLOU better!!! LOL!!! Guess it's aesthetics.
@@D12345 yeah that’s called REALISTIC. You’re out here calling natural skin texture ugly lmfao. I’m sure you look exactly like a perfect video game character lmfao.
@@Bubble170 I'm sorry I hurt you. 🤕
@@D12345 you didn’t hurt me, but you made yourself look like a total idiot. Congrats.
The show casts the wrong people in my opinion. Might be good but won’t be the same.
Like who
MIGHTY thin ice
M I G H T Y
Well the show scene was a let down. Not even close to as good as the game
