Leave the drones and cheesy back round music to others.......Youre the best because you film more intimately and that makes us feel like we are there with you....Youre videos are both exciting and comforting. Thanks for just being you !
Remember Chris, we still like seeing your day to day things such as making a sandwich. That way it feels like we are there enjoying those explorations with you. Your skills at videography and photography are stunning. The fact that you don't use a drone makes you work harder to get those shots but we appreciate these efforts and are rewarded in getting unique views. Keep up the good work and let your imagination fly.
As many have said, your format is what is addicting. No fluff or fillers, just really good overlanding content that accurately depicts the reality that you live. This QA was awesome and is a welcomed addition to your video series!
For me part of the fun with your videos is that you don’t rush. You enjoy life. Many of us live vicariously through your adventures. Don’t feel you need to constantly rush to find new adventures. Fast paced or slow we are along for the ride. And thanks for another great episode.
Was looking at the new Bronco..but because of him…now I am more convinced to go with the Rubicon 4XE than ever !… Beautiful and relevant content every time! Thx Chris
Wasn't sure about a 42 minute Q&A video, but man, that 42 minutes flew by. Really appreciate the questions answered many of us had and did not know we needed answered. LOVE YOUR CHANNEL Have a great holding season!
Brilliant idea Chris you turned the most basic venture into one of your best productions . Humanizing to hear you talk about the lagistics of what it's like to do what you do. Your experience is invaluable.
As always, anticipating your next video. It has become my weekend "must see 📺 " since discovering your channel. THANK YOU for taking us with you on your journey.
I actually enjoyed listening to your Q & A. It was very interesting. I watch your channel because it's very relaxing to me. Almost like kicking back and reading a good book. Quiet and peaceful and the time goes by very quickly.
Enjoyed the O&A Chris my wife and I have watched most all of your videos and always look forward to watching new episodes together. Enjoy your family time😊👍
This was a great video. We can be our own worst critic, your raw blog format is great. This is one of 2 or 3 channels I won't miss an episode of, and I love how you dont fill it with fluff and free use music. Keep up the great work.
Absolutely love what you do Chris. I follow several folks on YT doing similar and different activities but none compare to you. You share great content and intellect but speak in layman's terms. I look forward to each and every weeks video like no one else's. Thank you for sharing and inspiring.
I agree with you about your Jeep, I love mine and plan to keep it as long as possible. They can take you places that allow you to adventure in the first place.
Glad you made it home buddy. Enjoy your time with family. We'll be here for you. Thanks for taking us along. As always, stay safe and we'll see you in 2 weeks. :)
@venture4wd. Another epic video Chris! That Q&A was super informative. Amazed how simple of question can bring a wealth of knowledge or different perspective! Keep adventuring!
Enjoyed this video immensely. Your answers were refreshingly honest. Hope to see you in the GREAT PACIFIC NORTHWEST on a snowy backcountry campsite someday.
This was a great idea!!! Loved the question and answer while you were driving. I think part of your never being sick is how active you are! Thank so much for allowing us this glimpse into your world.
I still enjoy watching Chris make a sandwich and coffee. Those scenes make me feel like I'm right there camping. Not interested in gimmicky drone shots, which remove me from the experience. My question for anyone who knows the answer: What do people who live full time in their vehicle list as a home address? In other words, what does it say on the driver's license for address? Do you use your previous address even if you haven't lived there in four years?
Currently, I simply use my parent's address. A lot of full-time RVers/travelers choose to "domicile" in certain states that make it relatively easy. I’m just one of many subscribers, but a Jeep seems essential to what makes your channel so enjoyable and watch-worthy. It’s those remote locations and unexplored-by-most destinations that make me watch. I honestly can’t see you getting to those in anything but your Jeep. Then there’s the business end of it all. I can’t imagine a more cost-effective solution than the Jeep. I speak from experience. Stay safe and healthy and enjoy family and the holidays.
Thank you for sharing this week. I enjoyed the Q&A. I think you are articulate and tell your story very well. And I do not mind seeing and hearing the sound of coffee pouring in your cup. :) Enjoy your family time!
I loved this episode of you talking to the camera, essentially talking directly to us. There's an old medical trick I was taught to make an assessment of the person before you to aid in your diagnosis. You can also use it when a new person is introduced into your life. I've used it for 55 years and only once was it not beneficial of the assessment of the person before me...it's called the MSE or mental status exam(ination). On the very first MSE of Chris Shontz a year or so ago when I started to follow your channel you struck me as a truly genuine person, who is empathetic, loves life, loves his family and offers tremendous enjoyment to his followers, that he cares and loves what nature has to offer. You have done just that, Chris. It's been a truly amazing journey following you and during this past year you and a couple of other channels have kept our minds off of the current pandemic and politics happening in our nation and in the world. You answered many of the questions I thought of asking. In regards to a vehicle change...for me Chris Shontz and your orange Jeep are Venture4WD and it wouldn't be the same with a different vehicle format. I have thought about a Mercedes Benz or Land Rover for my personal situation but I absolutely love my Jeep. It's Americana. Made in America. I am proud of what we Americans offer the world. When you placed your foil-wrapped chicken in your engine compartment that reminded me of the years I worked with EOD and how we warmed our food in the engine compartments of the huge multi-wheel drive dump trucks that were used to throw ordnance in and to drag 500 pounders behind with chains. Anything from unopened soup to cans of beans. I still do that on overland camping trips. It saves me time when I arrive to my camp site. As far as drones, I love how Chad (Living the Van Life) and Jason (Primal Outdoors) start their respective channels with drone shots as they drive to destinations to camp and explore. The drones add an element of excitement to the journey.
Wow, what a great trip. Lots of great questions, I sincerely hope you have a great Thanksgiving with friends and family. Looking forward to seeing you again in two weeks. The idea of Base camping and exploring with a second vehicle has always been my plan, you can get away with a smaller adventure rig and come back to a nice camper. I’m starting to ramble on see you in 2 weeks. Thanks Chris.
Lancaster PA. Been there many times. We are from Poconos. It was nice seeing you in Durango (I knocked on the window in that coffee shop). Heading out to Texas soon. Just like you, 4 years on the road.
That was a good one. The "special episodes" on occasion are quite a cool addition once in a while. And everything else ... yes, even making coffee and a sandwiche ... is great to see.
I put off watching this because I thought I would not enjoy it, but I found it almost mesmerizing , great job putting it together. Very informative and entertaining.
I started watching Chris way back when he first started. I look forward to his videos each week and have learned very much from him. Currently im starting to " accessorise " my Honda Crv in anticipation of my wife and i "softroading" when i retire this spring. Thanks to Chris i now have much more knowledge to make this a reality! First trip is prob going to be East coast of Canada!
Thanks for being open and vulnerable. As for the Night Rider/base camp/mother-ship idea... not sure how I feel about this, as it would imply that you won’t be traveling solo.
Great and informative video! My husband and I look forward every week to seeing and experiencing with you of your adventures! We now have a Jeep of our own and hope to have some adventures. We’ve learned so much from your videos! Thank you!!!
What a small world we live in Chris. I used to work for a very big dairy company and during 1972 amongst others, spent time at Zaustner Foods near Allentown if I remember. Guess you were just a twinkle in you parents eye then eh ? Enjoyed this latest video too. Having been lucky enough to travel extensively throughout the South West since 1989, have encountered lots of critters in the deserts of Utah and Arizona. Primarily Rattlers, Bark scorpions and Mountain lions. The nearest encounter being two Bark scorpions near the entrance to my bivi tent on the edge of the toroweap overlook on the North rim of the Grand Canyon travelling on my own September 2002, nasty little devils I had to dispense with before being able to relax ready for sleep.
I enjoy just seeing your life style, and how you're going about how you achieve it, keep it up and i will always watch. Hope you come back to atlantic Canada some day.
Chris, love watching your videos, I thought we would have heard a little about your "friend" back out west, but maybe in the future. Keep up the good work.
Hi there. I'm newish here. I had found your old videos and had commented on your first video you allowed comments on. So I have just rediscovered you. Your filming and editing has definitely improved. I love that you're a nerd. I'm a nerd too. Grew up with Knight Rider on tv when I was a kid. I got a jeep because of Jurassic Park. When I started looking for jeeps on youtube I felt I never fit in because I don't care about rock crawling/off roading for its own sake. But this I love as it goes with the love exploring and the point of for me having gotten a jeep because of my fave movie. My husband and I enjoy watching your videos. I've been watching the stuff from last year. I do a few takes on my videos too. I think that's just the nature of making videos. I enjoyed this and it answered a lot of my questions.
I agree. 4 door Rubicon is perfect for your needs. You have it dialed in perfectly. If you ever need to replace I’d say stick with Wrangler or 4Runner. PS- I enjoy watching when you cook and eat as well.
You have the right set up with tires the bigger the tires the more rotating weight which takes horsepower and fuel, there are not many that put on the miles you have and have a rig survive I'd say you have the correct set up
Great video my wife and I look forward to Saturdays video, we haven done a lot of back country exploring in the past your videos brings back a lot of fond memories
Love the Jeep, she is a big part of your videos. Defiantly would hate to see her go. I have every video you have posted on UA-cam going back to the week of March 11-17 2017. I thoroughly enjoy your travails and want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the time and effort you put into every video! It was great to see your red kayak even though it was in storage. Enjoy your family time and have fun!
that was a great video ...ENJOYED the entire video ... the fuel tank and the winch were my favorite upgrades...now if we could get you to eat more veggies....Terry
That was a great video. It,s just nice to see a good guy doing cool stuff and not worry about the other stuff. Like money, or the Covid. I vote keep the Jeep
You sure do seem like you're GREAT at talking to the camera. I didn't think this would be an interesting or entertaining video but boy was I wrong. It's another really good one, just different. Thanks Chris.
Great video and questions... You put alot of work and effort into your videos Chris. Thank you. Your content never gets old. Enjoy your family. Safe travels. 🍾👏🙏
Chris a big congratulations on this week’s content, great idea to utilize all of that mind numbing highway time to good advantage. You answered a ton of questions in a seemingly short time, although I know it was several days on the road and a lot of editing on your part... Enjoy your down time with Cole and family, it’s certainly well deserved... Looking forward to your return in a couple of weeks, although I’m still working through a few more months of your previous videos.
Personally I found this episode very interesting and informative. I truly enjoy all of your videos. And look forward to the next one. May time with family and friends give you peace and strength. Happy Thanksgiving from North Carolina.
Awesome! I love these longer videos every once in awhile and I love the Q&A! It’s very informative and I love having a video different from your normal videos and every once in awhile. Also, when I get my rig and get it all set up, I plan on shipping it to different places around the world and exploring! I’ve always wanted to do that and I would love to see you do that someday! Keep up the good work Chris! Stay safe!
Hey Chris, I’ve been following since you started living in your jeep and I’ve been so inspired by what you do. I did a six month trip across North America last year in my Wrangler and I’ve gotten so many ideas from you before I left and built our my Jeep for overlanding. This was one of the best videos because it was full of info of how you do things. Thank you so much! Keep driving man!
Really enjoyed the q&a. It sort of gave me a bit of insight into what you're about lol. With all the traveling that you've done you'd of made a great truck driver. Except the fact that driving commercially you dont get to see much of the neat stuff. Enjoy your time with your family I'll be looking forward to you in two weeks. Be safe and healthy
the orange jk is the costar of the show you cant get rid of it! since you do this full time i think you do need to get something like a class c rv and pull the jeep and when you get to an area you park it and set out in the jeep to do you filming and adventures. you can only live in the jk for so long before you burn out! love the channel....
Well done! I especially like how you included the mistakes in the segment where you talked about how you make and correct speaking mistakes. Nice artistic touch!
Chris get some quality time with family and friends. I've been watching your channel for some time and yes i've been taking notes of places that i would like to go and explore. Really enjoy your channel ( thumb up ).
I really liked this Q&A format. It was definitely a stark change of pace from your normal videos, but I still enjoyed learning more about your take on your journeys, and having our questions answered. It seems you liked it too, as it helped the time pass quicker driving cross-country when you had a facsimile to talk to, so I hope you make these a regular thing. Once every 3-6 months might work, so you don't run out of questions. Also, I like the mobile HQ idea, but perhaps you'd be better served towing a teardrop or something similar, then unhitching it and using that as an HQ when you take the jeep out and explore the trails and roads you could not get said trailer down. Rather than tow the jeep around in a bigger vehicle, tow some small, yet comfortable trailer around that would increase your living space, but could still allow you to do what you do now, without having to spend a ton more money on it upfront, and as you go along. Hell, between you and the fellas at OK4WD, perhaps you could figure out some sort of ducting system so you could still use the gas heater in the trailer when it gets cold. You might be able to carry around a lot more water in it as well.
Leave the drones and cheesy back round music to others.......Youre the best because you film more intimately and that makes us feel like we are there with you....Youre videos are both exciting and comforting. Thanks for just being you !
I agree, avoid the drone. Its been overdone and and stay away from the "music". Keep going the way you're going. Keeping it real and practical.
Totally agree!
I agree, and the fact that there isn't any adverts to break the video while watching is refreshing.
100%!!!
Remember Chris, we still like seeing your day to day things such as making a sandwich. That way it feels like we are there enjoying those explorations with you. Your skills at videography and photography are stunning. I’m sure Jeep has sold many Wranglers because of your channel.
With the free advertising you have given them they owe you a new rig!
Him and Epic Family Road Trip
I second that motion !
Was looking at the new Bronco..but because of him…now I am more convinced to go with the Rubicon 4XE than ever !…
Beautiful and relevant content every time! Thx Chris

Nice work. Enjoy time with Cole and your parents!
Really enjoyed this Chris have a wonderful day
I’m just one of many subscribers, but a Jeep seems essential to what makes your channel so enjoyable and watch-worthy.
You are doing a great job Chris. I bought an Ursa Minor J30 a year ago because of your videos. Keep up the good work!
Love the way you "cook" your chicken meal on the engine! Must try that soon! Great video btw. Love your authentic honesty on every subject. 😁

My girlfriend and I always look forward to your cooking every week. We try and guess what you will be preparing. So for us, don't stop showing it. :-)
Love the road trip Q&A idea. It's like listening to a podcast during a long drive but from my desk!
Yup Chris, very enjoyable video. Enjoy your time home with the people you love.

Chris a big congratulations on this week’s content, great idea to utilize all of that mind numbing highway time to good advantage. You answered a ton of questions in a seemingly short time, although I know it was several days on the road and a lot of editing on your part...

Thank you Chris for sharing your road trip with us😎👍
Awesome video!! Have a great holiday!! Stay safe and healthy!!
I did enjoy this Q&A episode.
Stay safe!
Love your videos. Your approach to the videos and delivery is very friendly and open. You inform without coming off as condescending. Keep it up👏🏼
Grn9209, I used to own a Toyota LC just like your blue one. I called it the GreyGhost. I still regret selling it.
Hey Chris, have a happy thanksgiving with your family and I really do appreciate all the hard work and time you have put into these adventures.
Great episode. I like the change of pace.
This was one of my favorite videos you have done. (I really look forward to the return trip video.)
Thoroughly enjoyed this Q&A! Keep up the great work!
A very big fan of your vids. Lived in New Holland for years, and now in CO. I’d love to spend some off-road time with you when you come back this way.
Chris get some quality time with family and friends. I've been watching your channel for some time and yes i've been taking notes of places that i would like to go and explore. Really enjoy your channel ( thumb up ).
Fantastic episode Chris - one of your best, and we’ve seen them all!!!
This Q&A session provides great info , thanks Chris !
Great episode thanks for being so open and genuine
4 x 4 van conversions out of South Carolina, check them out. They convert full size vans with high end 4 x 4 with lift kits. Great for single track.
Check out a 4 legged mule at your local prospectors supply depot. They mostly go green and sometimes completely brown out.
As always a great video thanks, Chris. Have a wonderful Holiday, stay safe and we'll see you in two.
I really enjoyed this episode. Thank you very much.
Chris, hello from York, PA..another great video...thank you for all you do. Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours. Have a grateful day!
