Hey Chris, thank your for all the adventures you have given us, regardless of your life choices, like what you ate, where you went, and whom you were overlanding with. But please, accept that the magic and all the adventure’s story telling were possible due to a key element, the old reliable Jeep. Please don’t abandon the channels identity. I’m sure that’s a great van but for a different type of audience. Cheers and happy 2021.
It seems, from what he said, that he's going to use it as a home base. Explore with the Jeep during the week. relax in the van on his weekends while he produces the videos and such.
You do you and live your life as you wish and be happy. Everyone wants to second guess and suggest and ask why. I say to those people enjoy what he produces and if you don't go find what makes you happy. Every human is different and that is a good thing.
Hey FYI, a good friend had one of these, two months into it this summer the thing burned to the ground. He was driving down the road, saw smoke, got out and the thing burned to a shell in about 10 minutes. An exhaust flange in the turbo started a fire which ignited the magnesium steering column. Once that thing lit, nothing was able to stop the fire. It’s nuts and thankfully his kids weren’t in there with him. Mercedes/Winnebago has a recall on that turbo exhaust flange supposedly so make sure it got it done. Mercedes has been giving him the run around and not reimbursing him so far and it’s been ugly legally. This guy is who we got our Sportsmobile from and has been an off-road van guy for 20 years. Regardless to say, I would look into that if I were you. He had less than 10k miles on it at that point. Cool rig for sure just wanted to give you a heads up.
Buzz M it was insured, but there was a recall on it and Winnebago didn’t do the recall in the period of time from where they took the van and did the conversion. By the time the van was converted was something like 1 year after the chassis itself was constructed from what I understand. I don’t know all the details but the important part is that there is a known defect specific to his 2020 Rebel that caused it to burn quickly. Not sure what dates of manufacture it involves.
I agree, but I imagine it is a tough existence long term living in such a small space. Hopefully this will keep Chris on the road and provide the content we have come to love. He has always said the Jeep was not the point of the channel, just a tool. I am looking forward to more, but different, adventures.
After living in the Jeep for 4 years, I certainly understand wanting more room, especially if Chris now has a travel partner. And this van is impressive. But vanlifers are a dime a dozen on UA-cam. One of the things I liked about Chris's videos were they were different. He could get into areas many vehicles could not. And he did it alone. I'm pretty much a lone traveler myself so I could really relate. Every vehicle is a compromise. I will look forward to his new adventures in the van. But I will miss the Jeep.
I've been refreshing my screen all morning waiting for your 1st video of 2021. I alway find your voice and video stories so calming. Thanks again for all you do. Coincidentally, I had been watching a lot of videos about the Revel lately.
Wow! A lot of Monday morning quarterbacks here. Chris we are very happy for you. You have made these unprecedented times less gloomy. We found your channel from your Nova Scotia/Labrador adventure, we have been dreaming about a very similar trip except in the opposite direction. Thanks for sharing your adventures. Keep the U.P. on your bucket list!
I've been following Chris for years and bought my first Jeep in 2019 after watching many of his adventures. Last year we added a small adventure trailer to our kit because we needed more space than what a Wrangler can provide. I understand his decision and support it. Now he can ditch all that heavy gear in Orangie and really go places he couldn't before. It's time to introduce your fellow traveler though as you cant drive 2 vehicles alone.
Great new addition to your channel Chris....The Revel....I’ve thought that is a great vehicle since I saw one out in the Mohave a number of years ago when it first came out. For those that are shocked by this new addition, maybe they’re not seeing what is so wonderful about what you bring to us. A philosophy of exploration, the simplicity of sight and sound without too much commentary, a bit of philosophy that is poignant when it needs to be, and excellent camera and production work. Thanks for all your efforts, you keep me smiling inside and out.
I’ve enjoyed your channel for the past two years. You were part of the reason I bought my Rubi. Love it and the explorations it’s taken me. Happy for you Chris. Change is inevitable. Embrace and enjoy!
Love being an arm-chair part of this journey with you guys. Like others, I'm like "Wow, did I miss something?". It's all awesome and obviously your life not ours. Really looking forward to the new season and what other surprises might be coming our way!
Awesome video. Excited for you, and excited to see where the adventure van takes you! Others seem to have forgotten that you do not exist for their viewing pleasure... try not to let it bother you.
I love it! Really like four walls, especially in bear country! You have the best options with the Jeep and the van. Just personally for me, love the security and coziness of four walls. I think you made a excellent choice! You can’t go wrong with a Winnebago. WOW! The bed goes up!!
This comment section reminds me of the saying, "Friends that don't want you to grow or encourage your dreams are not your friends. They are scared and want you to stay unchanging and scared with them." I look forward to seeing what you do on new adventures and enjoy your honest commentary!
Don’t know how I feel about this... I hope it turns out ok in the end. The simplicity of this channel is what I fell in love with and a mobile home base added in to the mix I’m just not sure it will have the same feel that I’ve alaways enjoyed
Congratulations Chris! It looks awesome and adds an interesting dimension to your channel! You deserve a bit of comfort and luxury....truly a dream vehicle! Thumbs up from me👍🏻
Chris, completely understand you wanting a little more comfort and also maintaining lot of mobility. Like you said, great basecamp vehicle. You deserve it after living in your jeep for about four years. Think you made the perfect decision on your choice of vehicles. I tried to read some of the comments, but to many nay-sayers for me. Enjoy your new vehicle, your travels and your life. Love your channel and look forward each week to your new episodes. Safe travels my friend, you are living the life that so many of us wish we could.
Good luck with this new chapter in your life Chris! 2021 has brought big changes for lots of people. It's good to see you happy and doing good. Keep up the good work and we look forward to your new content!
Good to have you back, Chris. Congrats on the new vehicle. To paraphrase something you have said many times, "It ain't the gear, it's the adventure!" Keep moving...
I think I've seen every video and ad for the Revel and absolutely love it; I can also understand Winnebago's capitalizing on the demand but they went a bit overboard. I think it's great you decided to travel more comfortably whether you did it for yourself or your new companion; either way it's absolutely none of our business. I continue to watch your videos as otherwise I would not have those wonderful images of the back roads in my memory banks. Happy New Year and good luck to you !!
So sorry if Chris isn't doing what you want rather what he wants to do. I'm excited about the future of the show. The Revel is awesome and The Jeep is still involved.
Outstanding Chris. Excellent choice! I’ve seen another guy on UA-cam with a revel and he loves his unit! Looking forward to seeing your future vids in your brand new van!
Wow Kris as I binge watch all your vids they get better & better you really explain life on rode extremely well and I’m just fascinated by all the back country living you absolutely do and on a sidenote you talking to a camera very well
Congratulations on your new home, Chris! This is fantastic. Also love your GF's excitement when you two arrived at that overlook in the Jeep. Happy New Year.
Put a real smile on my face you putting up Coles picture. I'd like to see more of you and your sons travels together. I'm sure he thinks the Revel is super cool. Congratulations on your new purchase!
Beautiful new rig Chris. Not every adventure requires Rubicon capability. The Revel will be a good change of pace and you will no doubt surprise people with how you utilize it. Happy New Year man!
I’ve followed the channel from the start and have always enjoyed, you have to develop to keep interest i for one am happy with Chris’s choice and the way the channel is heading as a person you need those home comforts but living in a Jeep is for a limited time only imo but using a van limits the way in which you can explore which the channel is about up to Chris to keep us engaged whether in the Jeep or Van but anyways good luck Chris you deserve it, i for one will keep on watching.
So I take it that your person, will be joining you full-time on the road to drive the Revel? Changes are big and can seem difficult at times, but congrats and good luck with everything. Keep on keepin' on.
Not sure why some of you are so negative. Chris is an adult and is entitled to have a relationship. This is about adventure and that includes who he brings into his life. Orangie is still here for the duration. Sit back and enjoy the adventure that Chris has planned for us this year!
I feel like I missed an episode? Didn’t know that you were considering this. Great job. Glad you kept orangey since that’s what made me start watching.
Congrats Chris, the van looks great and everyone needs a bit of extra room and comfort every now and then. Looking forward to seeing the mods you do in the coming episodes:D Be safe mate
Good to have you back and happy new year. I’m glad you decided to add the van to your fleet. You’ll love it. One way I believe you can separate yourself from other van owners is through your off-road experience. You already proved that with your quick list improvement suggestions. Most van people are just adding option after sponsored option to their vans, not really solving problems. I’m looking forward to seeing how to address shortcomings of van life to cater to your adventure lifestyle. Cheers my friend and looking forward to many great miles ahead!
After four jears in the Jeep, you really have walked your way up to the Sprinter 4x4. I hope you will fall in love with it like you did with the Jeep. I wish you and the Lady at your side always save travels. All the best from Germany
Commenting before I even start the video...I knew it Chris. I called it weeks ago. When you hinted just slightly thinking of new vehicles I knew you were ready for some comfort. Keep the Jeep just in case you need some serious off-roading. I’m looking forward to new adventures it seems with your new roommate!
Congratulations on your acquisition. You bought a great product. Now, time to make it your own... customize, revise, make it to your specifications... just like your orange jeep. Enjoy the experience and journey.. As they say "Sistine chapel was not finished in a day".... so the fun begins! Thanks for taking us along on the ride!
My plan is to go with something between your Jeep and your Revel. I have a gladiator and I'm going to put a wedge camper, similar to a GoFast camper on it.
@Armin Tamzarian I'm seriously considering building my own. There's a guy on a Tacoma forum named Ripcord that built a wedge camper a lot like the GoFast for around $3,000 and he has all the build details online.
And I'm not sure how you can think the AT overland summit is stouter than a GoFast. They're known for being the toughest campers with the welded steel frames and lightweight (under 300 lbs) construction that makes them very off road worthy
I'm excited for the new chapter of your chanel. Dont worry about the haters, you're doing what you love and still paying less than us suckers with permanently parked mortgages. Keep up the adventure! I don't real know anything about using induction but I think if you grab a magnet you can use it to find compatible pot and pan...
Your Jeep is your best friend. The Revel your fortress. Upkeep will be less on the Revel it’s built very well and it’s apparent you are guarding it. Michigan
Good luck. I think you could get a functional equivalence with a towed trailer such as a Scamp or Casita. Not offroad capable, but as good as a van with all the creature comforts and no extra driveline. Vans, though expensive are ideal if you are constantly on the move. If you leave it parked a week at a time, a trailer is a less expensive option.
The mystery woman thing seems a little odd to me. It feels like a couple of teenagers hiding a relationship from their parents. That being said... it's just my opinion and hey..it's his channel.
Not sure if someone else already answered, but induction cooking is a simple concept. Just like a lightbulb or a resistor get hot when an electric current is applied, an induction cooktop uses magnetism to induce an electric current in your pan's base plate. Your pan is what gets hot, not the surface of the cooktop. It's very efficient, no open flame and you can use anything that has a magnetic base to cook with. Only down side is that you need some electricity. There have been some studies that warn people with pacemakers to stray away from induction, but those are extreme case I think. Love the new ride. Will be fun to watch you wench it out of the mud in a coming episode.
I started watching your channel specifically for the Rubicon paired with the Ursa Minor. I thought I was going to be commenting that I would try to continue watching if you are giving up the Jeep, as there plenty of living in a van channels out there I view. HOWEVER, this new formula of using the van as a base and then exploring deeper with the Jeep is appealing for sure. Curious if you'll be towing the Jeep eventually? Fess up, is your lady friend one of the ladies at your favorite taco stand in Moab? :) I look forward to your future vids!
Feels like two's company three's a crowd. I thought it would be just you and me going out on great adventures then she showed up ;)
Lol!!! I didn’t realize I felt that way till I read this.
LMAO. BRILLIANT.
Exactly. That's inspired me to write a country song.
I'm sending it to Tim McGraw.
@@reubenj.cogburn8546 Don't forget to add your horse was stolen and the dogs not playing since you came along!

For $185K I’m gonna expect more than one stove burner. I’m putting in a five burner Le Cornue stove top converted to work on propane
Chris, the van looks great, but I'm not gonna lie, we are going to miss the organic nature of your adventures alone in the orange Jeep....
I agree, but I imagine it is a tough existence long term living in such a small space. Hopefully this will keep Chris on the road and provide the content we have come to love. Not offroad capable, but as good as a van with all the creature comforts and no extra driveline. Vans, though expensive are ideal if you are constantly on the move. If you leave it parked a week at a time, a trailer is a less expensive option.

R u still going to edit out the second person going with u
Why would he do that? What’s the point? Let him adventure with other people
@@AustinH7 You missed the point. People want to see who he travels with. We already know she's a good cook. Lol
The mystery woman thing seems a little odd to me. It feels like a couple of teenagers hiding a relationship from their parents. That being said... it's just my opinion and hey..it's his channel.
@Just Facts me too
@@AustinH7 you didn’t understand what I was saying. I don’t care who or what he does but if your going to show fingers and toe he’ll show a face
Congrats! Love it! Can’t wait to see your experiences with the revel!
that is perfect. My choice would be very similar to that model. Happy 2021 adventures. I cant wait to watch all of them
I hope they listen to your words of advice.... as you have been traveling enough to know what you need! Looks great!
Hey Chris congratulations on your purchase. I am looking forward to your videos on the interaction and exploration with the new setup.
Chris, WOW and happy new year. Not quite sure what to think at the moment but will happily tag along to see how this plays out.
Good luck with your new vehicle, looking forward for the new adventures. Happy new year.
