The studio developing this remaster (Nightdive Studios) are responsible for many current ports of old-school games (System Shock, Quake, Turok) so I think they got the remastering part covered. However, I can’t imagine The Thing video game has alot of nostalgic pull or demand for it to be just re-released for modern platforms. Best-case scenario; they’ll make a well-executed but niche remaster. I hope this works out, game is pretty underrated.
Enjoy your videos!! The Thing is my Absolute favorite horror movie ever!!!👍☠️👽 I don’t really play video games these days, but am glad they have a game for this movie!!🍿
I am hesitant. I own the game and have played the hell outta it. I love it, but I am not blind to the many problems it has. Another channel I follow (Mortuary Gaming) tried to play the game and could not finish it because of the problems. He even made a video about it. So, a graphical upgrade is cool, but some mechanic issues and maybe playable areas need fixing. For a game from that time that needs a remaster, I champion the Resident Evil Outbreak games. No changes to mechanics, perspective, sound. It just needs updated graphics and ports to newer systems.
I am hesitant too, to be honest. As much as I remember enjoying the game back in the day, even back then I could see its flaws. The gameplay was VERY clunky. I really hope your concerns aren't true, as I share them: I hope they're entirely rebuilding the gameplay controls and all from the ground up. That 2002 playstyle won't fly today. Honestly, if they rebuilt it to play similar to something like The Last of Us, that stealth/action gameplay style would lend itself well to The Thing.
I loved the PlayStation 2 game. When I heard of a remaster, I got super excited. I can’t wait to get my hands on it!

I didn't even know there was a game. That's awesome!
I wish they would remaster or remake more horror games from the 6th generation of consoles
The Suffering and Area 51 are two I wanna see come back
Me too !Loved The Suffering!🤘
Area-51 was amazing! Played that game constantly when it came out. Having Mulder himself as the MC was a great choice

I am only mildly interested in a new The thing game.
