  • Super simple, non destructive way to get failed chrome off of plastic. All you need is a decent heat gun and something pointy. I'm using the bubbly grille off my 2008 Ford F-250 for this one. These trucks are really prone to this for some reason

    • @backwoodsbuildingandfixing9223
      @backwoodsbuildingandfixing9223  3 роки тому +2

      It definitely can warp the plastic. There's always a sweet spot where you have enough heat to get the chrome to lift without melting the plastic, so take your time and don't apply too much heat in one place, even more so on thinner plastics. Let me know how it works for you

    Is chrome paint the same thing as was on there from the factory? Or is it like dipped or wrapped?

    • @backwoodsbuildingandfixing9223
      @backwoodsbuildingandfixing9223  2 роки тому +1

      No, chrome paint is just very shiny paint. Factory chromed plastics are actually chromed, typically they'll coat the plastic in copper and nickel to make it conductive and then electroplate the chrome over that. When chrome peels off plastic usually it's because the base layer that the chrome adheres to has failed.
