Simple technique, easily described!! I’ve been wondering how to remove chrome without buying an acid factory worth of toxic chemicals. Thank you. I’ve subscribed & will be checking out more of your content & sharing it.
I try to keep everything i do less toxic or non toxic as possible I don’t like dealing with harsh chemicals myself. And thanks a lot for the support I really appreciate it 👍
If you put that on moldy walkway & scrub with a heavy brush the concrete will turn Orange & after a wash and second scrubbing it will look like its been pressured cleaned. Wear gloves , it will take your skin off , its that powerful.
Works very well. The heavier plating will have to stay in a bit longer but it definitely does the job. Had some that was heavier plated so left it over night. White plastic and it seemed to discolor some of it around the edges. Stripping is most likely for painting so no problem really. 😊
Yeah it does a real good job with no toxic chemicals as well. They use some sort of yellow coating under the chrome and it seems it really hard to get all the yellow off so it would definitely have to be painted.
@@CustomScaleModels that is the laquer undercoat that is usually too thick,,it needs to be removed especiallyon the older models as it pools and obscures the details ,removing it really brings out the fine details and makes parts less toy like after rechroming
Thanks This stuff really works great! I'm building the Polar Lights Klingon Battle Cruiser and several parts are chromed and shouldn't be. I soaked the parts for 24 hours and the chrome is gone and the parts are in perfect shape.
I usually use a straight bleach soak to remove the chrome plating, but the last 2 models I built, the 1:25 construction bulldozer and a 1:25 model B Mack truck, both reissues by AMT, no matter what I used, the plating would not come off. I ended up using 000 steel wool and alot of rubbing. Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks in advance.
i've not had good luck with this stuff. Well about 50/50. Left some chrome from the 1/8 honda trail 70 in it for 2 days and still didn't completely strip it. The parts it did remove still had the yellow film on it too. Only thing that worked was oven cleaner. Luckily Awesome is my favorite cleaner too so i have lots of use for it elsewhere.
I’ve never had any problems with it stripping chrome. I have noticed that some companies chrome is stronger than others so it’d probably need a stronger chemical
Hahah I don’t even smoke 😂😂 . I had a junk mic and it had a ton of hissing noise so I would try to make it sound somewhat better by audio correction and it always made me sound like a 5 pack a day smoker.

If you took the plating off a figure that had paint on previously would that paint still be under the coating after removing it
I honestly don’t know. I doubt it if you used a stripper. It’ll probably strip everything off to the bare plastic
I'm assuming this would work well to take off the chrome on car emblems?
Yes it should. It may need to soak a little longer though depending how big the emblem is. If this doesn’t do it then use purple power
Does it melts platic away or just chrome?
Just the chrome finish. It’s safe for plastic
Does it strip paint too?
Like enamel or acrylic paints?
Yes it strips both paint types
Does it remove paint?
Yes it does
Oven cleaner !!!
This is why you don’t smoke cigs kids
