God, the first game can easily be titled a classic.
It is. FEAR is among the best fps shooters ever and also an AI marvel.
The greatest FPS I have EVER played next to Doom, quake and Timesplitters. Even the expansions extraction point and perseus mandate are still miles better than other fps.
Monolith and ID are the best fps devs.
@@civilwarfare101 too bad Monolith isn't the same company it was 10 years ago. Now all they're doing is making lord of the rings games.
@@modernmobster
Yeah it sucks but the Middle Earth games are pretty good for Assassin's Creed style open world games. It sucks they won't ever make a new fps ip but that's a problem with gaming as a whole today.
Original F.E.A.R. is one of the greatest games ever made. It needs a good Remaster!
Full remake
@@zigzagtoes To be fair, the AI was far more basic than anything we see nowadays. But that's what made it work so well. It was programmed how to behave. It didn't learn and adapt, but it sure as hell felt as if it did.
@@railx A Full Remake would be ok, but I would prefer having extraction point and perseus mandate part of it as well and yes I want perseus mandate to be definitely fully remade.
And scary too
The sequels tried to make evertything bigerer and betterer, but failed in process. I am not saying this out of nostalgia. The cramped and muted enviourment made the perfect atmosphere. The color pallet of FEAR2 lost the impact of blood splatters and exlosions. Don't get me wrong. I am not saying that FEAR2 was a bad shooter, but tonally it felt closer to DOOM 2016, than original fear.
Nobody talks about FEAR enough, my favorite shooter of all time
5 years in FEAR COMBAT clan...the best shooter i ever played...
@@misiknuo Do people still play F.E.A.R. Combat?
Haven't played it for about 5 years, and last year when I installed it there were almost no players in the game...
I only saw one server with 2 or so players in it and that lasted for like I month until I decided to uninstall again...
@@ravenravenich7879 Look up F.E.A.R online. a fan made game using all the assets from F.E.A.R 1. got plenty of players and is very fun. totally free.
basically, if you remember halo online, its that but F.E.A.R
Shotwell FEAR online was shut down
Yeah. Nice that some independent studio is making the spiritual succesor, Trepang 2.
F.E.A.R 2 was one of my introductory games when I was just getting into the horror genre (along with Dead Space being my first), I was fascinated with the idea of a game implementing FPS aspects with a sudden dose of creeping horror and Alma proved to be one of my favorite antagonists. I would love to see F.E.A.R be revived but with a little more emphasis on the horror aspect than the shooting at soldiers aspect.
Same man. A friend lent me fear 2 back in high school and I was captivated because of my love of a great plot, horror, it was resident evil like, and a fps.
Crazy how FEAR 1 still has some of the BEST AI I've ever seen in a game till this day. An absolute gem and one of my Top 10 shooters of all time easily.
I worked on FEAR Online as a graphic artist, mainly for the marketing, but I also created all of the Steam trading cards, icons, profile backgrounds, etc. I was responsible for the majority of marketing assets made for the game. However, it was all pretty rushed and more of a side project, I often worked on 3 or 4 games at a time, and FO was low on the list of priorities. I can honestly say that it wasnt handled like a true FEAR game.
I should add that while the game was disappointing, to say the least, I am still proud of the work I did, and I did my best to make the experience better where I could.
EDIT:
I've made plenty of additional comments below.
EDIT 2:
It doesn't matter if you believe me or not.
I'm not linking to any of my portfolios or anything like that, because people around here can be terrible, and I don't want to be spammed or "defamed" on my professional platforms. I also don't want want to use this account as a way to advertise myself. I don't even know if I'm legally allowed to say what I've said, as I've signed an NDA years ago, so I don't want to get in trouble because of that.
If you really wanted to, I'm sure you could do some digging and find proof.
Man I enjoyed that game for a long time. Thanks bro.
Yeah thank you for the hard work! All of the art work is amazing
What do you work on nowadays?
@@noxcure
It's actually been quite a while since I've worked in the game industry, mostly due to where I currently live not having any options for the work I do. So for now I'm just doing freelance work for local business, though I also sell graphics and effects online, which is much more in line with my interests, and I plan on opening my own online store soon.
@El Diablo
Make another what?
The A.I in FEAR 1 is the best i've seen in any game. Along with the creepy static voices of the replicants communicating via radio, and the way they flank you aggressively when you least expect. Also Patxon Fettel and Alma are great antagonists, then there's the graphics and bullet physics which were superb. Probably the best horror/fps ever made.
another good celic bhoy
mon eh hoops
HH here's to the quadruple treble!
I didn’t feel too moved by AI in FEAR, I always thought Thief had the best.
I thought the replicant voice modulator sounded super cool
Good, another 51 minutes of facts and knowledge.
Thanks GVMERS for all your work!
*and patreons
Honestly love your narrator. Whoever does your voiceover reminds me very much of an early 00s discovery or history channel documentary. Fantastic.
I still have my memories of Alma Wade. That little red dressed girl was creepy. I never forget that sick story.
Fear 3 was a bit disappointing because they added more arcade shooting than actual horror.
Oh FEAR. I'll forever love 1 and Extraction Point.
Those games are godlike.
I could literally finish the campaign, then start over from the beginning within a day.
It never gets old, especially on the highest difficulty.
No two fights are the same, and it's always a
new
fucking white-knuckled
John Woo-ass
dynamically, and gloriously violent experience. Once you understand how much the AI is capable of, and start playing it like you actually have to outsmart and take down a coordinated death squad in every fight...
The game becomes something beautiful. I think this game should get more attention, and more people should know going in: this is NOT an average run and gun shooter that's mostly horror. It's the polar opposite.
I love how they made extraction point even scarier and wierder than the maingame.
I know it sounds crazy, but I REALLY enjoyed perseus mandate due to it being more challenging and the new enemies the nightcrawlers.
@@dathip
Challenging doesn't mean better. Sick of this notion.

"At the end of the 21st century"
Hol up.
Um yeah, we are NOT even close to the end of the 21st century, perhaps you meant 20th century there, narrators?
None shall pass
Confirmed for time travel
yeah, you got a problem with time travel, bitch?
Yah it always confuses the hell out of me how the 19th century is in the 1800's, etc. My brain can't handle the discrepancy.
@@JoeNoshow27 The problem is that there was on 0th century so the 1st century is from 1-99 AD.
I still love the F.E.A.R. games, always have. I have all three and the expansion packs downloaded all these years later. The first game is something I will never forget. You never knew where the enemies were going to be coming from with 100% certainty; and the tension the game built was - and still is - unparalleled in the first person _shooter_ (not just first person) genre. The entire game made you question what was actually happening, and if anyone hasn't played it yet, do yourself a favor _and go play it right damn now_
"Flashlight!"
"Target sighted!"
"Flush him out!"
Is F.E.A.R. 1's shotgun the best in FPS history? Top 5 for sure. Holy shit is it satisfying.
I love the sound of the reloading and pumping. One of the more memorable shotties in my gaming history.
RIP those enemies touched by the shotgun fairy
Rage 2 have the best shotgun ever
@@maofria1452 I gotta get into the RAGE series. I have the first one, haven't touched it. RAGE 2 looks like a non cel-shaded borderlands and not very exciting, but I could be wrong.
Outside of a few occasions I never saw the point of using any other weapon.
I've actually made it a custom to replay the original FEAR every couple of years or so.
Same.
I still own all the games for my 360. Every time I pop in the first F.E.A.R., I make it my mission to not stop playing until I finish all three titles plus their respective expansions. I'd flip my shit if anyone out there announced a remaster of the first game, it would be a dream come true.
I’m in the process of this now. Still get chills from the cinematics and scare factor. Currently working thru the fear files expansion and then on to the rest.
How do you play it? Do any of the game streaming service have it? IE; Steam, Epic, etc.
@@roadblock355
Yes. it's on Steam!
But you can only buy it in a bundle with other FEAR games.
A two year old engine starting to show its age? Bethesda: "hold my beer"
Even the Bathesda's beer is out of date
COD/Activision: Hold my beer!
Valve Software: Hold my beer!
Hold my bugs
lol. I was so disappointed seeing fallout 4, shit looked like fallout 3
The shooting in this game is actually timeless.
Exactly.... it was fucking perfection. And they ofc didn't realize that and then changed it and fucked it all up by imitating COD:
@@jamessalvatore7054 actually, Fear 3 wasn't monolith, which explains the mediocrity.
fear 1 and 2 still have phenomenal gunplay, 3 is generic because it was a different generic studio.
Like the atmosphere
Man you guys are professionals, all the research, all the editing, all the history.
You have my respect and my subscription!
I love the first F.E.A.R. game and it's expansion. The second and third one aren't bad games, essentially, but they have one big flaw: the check point saving system. Games like this become better when you sneak around and try to find the best route to solve missions. In such games, you should be able to save by yourself. A check point system encourages you to run like an idiot from one checkpoint to another. It's exactly the same with the Crysis series. The first one and Crysis Warhead were great, but after that, it went downhill fast.
And they suffered the same similar fate, being the infamous PC to Console curse that really puts a damper on a franchise.
Pleasantly surprised to see you churn out more F.E.A.R. content, especially with the 2nd anniversary of your “Embracing F.E.A.R.” video right around the corner. Still proud to have written the script for that 2017 upload.
F.E.A.R was without question a top 5 horror game of all time.
Just top 5 are you joking? I think nothing comes even close to the 1st game.
And PO was also fucking good but shit like dead space gets more attention.
@@joshi3518 I prefer Dead Space 1, Resident Evil 1 and 2 and Alien Isolation over F. E. A. R. any day... Its all subjective in the end.
As a horror game, hell no. FEAR barely even did anything to qualify it as a horror title outside of some jump scares and Alma popping up every now and then. Now, as a shooter, it's amazing. I'd say it's more horror-themed than actually horrific.
Silent Hill
Resident Evil
Fatal Frame
The Suffering
Call of Cthulhu Dark Corners of the Earth
Clock Tower
Those games/series and many others are much better horror titles than FEAR when it comes to actually delivering something scary.
FEAR is a damn good shooter, though.
Josh I brother nothing tops Silent Hill 2
F.E.A.R. 3 is an OK FPS, BUT an outright insult as a F.E.A.R. game.
I agree
I loved the co-op with big brother though. that mecha fight was nice piece. But yeah no horror at all.
@@Jdemonify F.E.A.R. 2 had less horror too but its atmosphere was consistently strong.
Fear, Fear ExP, and Fear PE are the only real Fear games in my mind. Even if they didn't evolve much it felt like they were trying to evolve the first. And the unanswered questions gave it an almost cosmic horror vibe.
EXACTLY!
He's voice makes me feel like i'm watching a Discovery channel of video games. x)

The first fear was and still is a masterpiece. They really spawned something special that has aged like fine wine.
This was the last game I showed my fiance before she died 2 weeks ago. Played through 1 and 2. Odd timing. Thanks for the memento.
May she Rest In Peace ❤️
kai thanks bud :)
😭😭😭😭 this broke my soul. I'm sorry to hear.
Damn!! My sincere condolences. :-(

The only game to ever literally scare the shit out of me was the original F.E.A.R.
I distinctly remember playing it in the dark after 12 a.m. with my headset on on my PC.
There were moments I had just stop and turn on my lights. Also, there were moments I didn't want to progress through a hall way too especially in the dark. The game was a masterpiece imo.
@@thagomizer8485 I also defecated my trousers from original F.E.A.R.
I know this comment is 2yrs old but I did the same thing on my 360 way back when it first came out. I’m in my living room, playing in the dark of course. My adrenaline craving teenage brain forced myself to play FEAR only at night and with no lights.
First game to scare the crap outta me but pique my interest enough to push me forward through the fear! Amazing game!
This one hurts alot, ALOT
I remember playing the original fear when I was younger. I remember how much it terrified me but I kept playing it because the gameplay was just so freaking fun. Hopefully one day another fear title will deliver on what the original did.
Christ I remember Fear 1 being released... none of my friends had a beefy enough machine to run it with the utmost spectacular graphics settings.
Fear 2, I absolutely loved that game.
Fear 3... Proper shooter, but not fear.
I remember it being released too - very clearly.
This was one of the games that really signalled a massive leap forward in gaming and graphics to me - I remember looking at pictures of the gameplay in magazines before the release, showing all the new and exciting lighting and particle effects. Pictures of intense gunfights with dust and shell casings and bullets and debris flying *_everywhere._*
I remember seeing trailers with actual, moving gameplay closer to the release date showing everything those pictures promised and more besides.
I saw all of that and I thought, "No way. There's just no way. There's not a computer in the whole *_world_* powerful enough to run a game *_THAT_* pretty. It's not possible. That *_HAS_* to be pre-rendered video. This can't be real. Can it?"
Then came the day when I actually got to play it and found out that it really *_was_* real.
My gaming history goes all the way back to the mid eighties when a game like Turrican was considered (among my friends and I) to be an uncommonly good looking one. We used to talk and dream and fantasize about something looking and playing like F.E.A.R back then, so the first time I played it on my own rig was a seriously big moment.
One of the game series I miss the most, along with Condemned. Really loved Monolith
FEAR was the first game that actually scared me, Alma was terrifying. I remember when she would occasionally appear behind you if you decided to turn around
I remember when you climbed donw the ladder, you had to turn, and this one time she stood right in front of you when you turned. Scared be big time
Love FEAR 1 and 2 so much, probably my favorite FPS from last gen
the first one was amazing. i played it on pc, in the dark, with head phones on. yay. loved it
40:19 is probably gonna be the only time GVMERS swears on the channel. Them devs with them cheeky names ayyyy
Took me by surprise that one! went straight to the comments and saw yours XD

How obscene.
Yeah, I was kinda distracted when he said it, so I had to rewind and rewatch lol.
GUMERS
First FEAR is one of the best fps game ever made
You got the same change my mind
Loved F.E.A.R., really enjoyed 2, and 3 felt generic.
F.E.A.R. 3 is just like Dead Space 3, an abomination.
@@CryingZombie666 Did you played Dead Space 1 and 2 ? I heard they are really good but are they. Wanna play them
@ibo beko Really good? They're fucking great! First one was a true survivor horror, and the second one is action horror; and in my opinion, it's better than F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin.
I feel like FEAR 2 and 3 revealed a grueling problem with FPSs. That is, if you can’t adapt to COD’s formula then you are destined to fail. Case in point, Half Life 3 which we haven’t seen and still won’t for a long time - because if it launched now it would feel so incredibly generic.
@@ibobeko4309 I think all three Dead Spaces are flawed, but brilliant. They should definitely be played *on PC* , not console.
F.E.A.R. - Amazing game, one of the best post-Halo FPS's and one of the best action-horror games to date.
F.E.A.R. 2 - A fun, bombastic FPS with an interesting plot that suffers from mediocre level design.
F.3.A.R. - Good ideas, meh execution. It's not as bad as some give it grief for but it definitely doesn't live up to the others.
I thought the level designs on 2 were better than the first. The levels on the first game practically all look the same. The office, maintenance areas etc.. I just wish the graphics on the 2nd were closer to the first game. The 2nd one looks so game-y with the bright colors and sci-fi looking enemies.
@@jerry12314 The visual and art designs in F.E.A.R. 2 were definitely a step up, but the linear corridors were a bit of a step back. Even though the AI was carried-over from the first game a lot of times enemy encounters were like shooting fish in a barrel since there was simply not enough room in the environment for them to shine.
@@chemergencyAh that's right. The levels limited the AI's abilities.
My complaints about the graphics are the glowing colors. I just can get over the security wearing goggles that are glowing solid blue.
Fear 3 was one of the best co-op games of last gen, and had the best horde mode I've ever played...
POOKISTAN Eh, the horde mode wasn’t all that great. You were stuck in one spot practically and fought off waves. Now we have Zombies with CoD and it features maps opening up.
Fucking Run was good too but it got stupid with the time mechanic and I hate when games throw time sensitive moments.
"John Woo's Hard Boiled, had left an impression on the team that they felt had not been replicated by any other game before..."
Max Payne: Am I a joke to you?
did you mean Stranglehold ?

@@yutro213 o ok. Thanks
This was the last game I showed my fiance before she died 2 weeks ago. Played through 1 and 2. Odd timing. Thanks for the memento.
F.E.A.R. 2 was the best. Like the narrator said, Wade Elementary level was very unsettling. At times I was almost scared to play through it and was kept on edge with what was going to happen next. Then when they took you underneath the school, there was an entirely different type of horror down there.
This is so professional and informative. Amazing content. Cheers from Argentina!
I see a new notification from GVMERS, i gotta click
Damn.....I thought I was watching this on the History Channel......well done production. 👍
I adore this series.
You aren't kidding about the enemy AI and overall difficulty. Beating the first game and the two FEAR Files add-ons were quite a challenge.
Fear was my first pc shooter. Rip ill never forget how scared it made me and for some reason I couldn't stop. It was like a true adventure, you keep going regardless of fucked everything is
It was the first game I ever had to put down at any point because I thought my heart might stop lmao. Didn't happen again until Dead Space
@LeDumpsterFire first game I did that was with halo 1 first flood level and doom 3 I was so scared to play but kept going lol
Amazing work, as usual. I loved Monolith Games. Claw, Blood...Blood 2 was disappointing for me after the high quality and creativity of the original, and Shogo was a very interesting game, but No One Lives Forever and FEAR were something else.
I'd love to see a documentary on PREY too, another often forgotten horror-oriented FPS that deserves more recognition.
That channel really is one of the best around ! It deserves wayyyy more than 300k subs !!!
Quality documentary! Loved FEAR and FEAR 2. Lost interest and quit about halfway through FEAR 3.
Right there with you buddy.
I remember when I played fear 2 at a friend's place as a kid and really wanted to get it for myself. My parents thought it was too scary and got me the first one instead thinking it would be safer for 8 year old me, only for it to be better in every aspect, especially in horror, lol. Man this trilogy will never die with me.
your "rise and fall" series reminds me of "all your history belongs to us" back when machinima actually made great and unique content. keep this up.
I have no idea about half of these franchises, but Steve Pettit voice is enough for me to watch everything you post! Love the Rise and Fall series, you do such good research in these! Cant wait to see some of the bigger gaming franchise appear in these series! Keep up
The atmosphere, the feeling, running around the whole empty corridor with shotgun what a vibe
O.O.......(My feeling is just........Sadness)

There's Trepang2, a game with gameplay of fear. It's really fun.

What do you think so far?
@@killjoy_5309 so far so good
The first Fear game was freaking fantastic. Gotta play it again soon.
That shotgun in slow-mo was so satisfying in FEAR 1.
The first game is a classic, a masterpiece even. It's fun to replay even today, hell I did my first playthrough just a couple of weeks ago. It's combat is extremely good, it's horror manages to give you the chills, and it's story is... a story. The DLC is where the series fell off for me. Extraction point was pretty good, but it was riddled with bugs, more than the base game. I assumed Perseus Mandate was the same, so I never touched it. Fear 2 abandoned a lot of what made Fear special. It's unique and addicting combat with advanced mobility and punchy weapons was dropped for generic Call of Duty-like shooter mechanics. The story was much stronger than it was in the first fear game and it's DLC, but it was told terribly. To figure out the full story you have to study the wiki, read all of the collectible information, and discuss it with others, and even then it's still got plot holes and weak story here and there. Fear 3 is shit. Not only did it abandon most of the mechanics Fear originally had, it completely turned it into a first-person cover shooter with shitty collectibles that unlock abilities and items. It's story also isn't really as good as Fear 2. Terrible game that marks the end of the series.
Its not it's
Yeah, it is a classic. And the two expansions for the original are also very good.
I only played the first sequel, and I don’t remember much of it. But boy, do I remember the original…
Well thats what happens when 3 different companies had a hand in it
I remember being 11-12 playing the first game with my buddies, and we all passed the controller around cause everyone was too scared to play for too long thinking Alma might pass around the corner lmao.. the actual fear/satisfaction in the shooting I felt playing this game as a kid has never been duplicated since, and I hope it never does. It’ll be cool to see a remake down the line, but I REALLY doubt it’ll live it up to how fucking amazing the first F.E.A.R was.
I love the research you guys make , shows good quality on your videos, more than many other channels. You guys deserve more subs.
“At the end of the 21st century, Japanese horror films had experienced…”

Love the first, liked the 2-nd and hated the 3-rd for using the F.E.A.R. name.
You guys are the BEST, hands down the best... thank you so much for everything you do!
First F.E.A.R. is my most favourite 1st person shooter ever. Even scarier for me was another Monolith's underrated jewel named Condemned Criminal Origins which was running on same engine as F.E.A.R. And scene in locker room was unforgettable. Oh my!
Rise and Fall of Condemned🤔 Was also a favorite game of mine.
Another glorious documentary? Excellent!
Man I miss this series so much! No one will ever argue that the first game light one of a kind lightning in a bottle that the sequels no matter what they did just could not match even if they had enhanced Graphics and more diverse locations that first game was just fun from the first fight to the last fight. I owned all three and even the sequels were awesome. I would love the game to get a reboot
The original F.E.A.R was one of the top games ever made, FPS or otherwise.
Not many know but the multiplayer was highly coveted by veterans of the game. The people that played it were truly hardcore and serious about getting as good as possible at it. It was a very difficult game to master. There were several tournaments held, scrims between clans, 1v1's, 2v2's, 3v3's etc. Some included prizes such as money and gift cards. I was luck enough to be at the top among the best players in the game at the peak of the multiplayer(clan TTK and LMS). The multiplayer was truly competitive in the highest sense - think something like Quake. I have many memories of the people I met and played with every day in that game. The single player AND multiplayer were amazing and it's hard if not impossible to find a game that stands among it in todays gaming world.
Could you do the rise and fall of Supreme Commander series ?
Would that include Total Annihilation and Planetary Annihilation?
I actually have yet to play the F.E.A.R

The ending of this video is just metal af
Monolith were awesome in the early 2000´s.
F.E.A.R. was one of the greatest games during my childhood.
The guy liked those movies so much that they moved to Capcom and wrote almoust the same story as before, but now as a Resident Evil game with SH2 vibes... And i loved it.
I always loved the first game, it was a decent blend of action and supernatural horror paired with surprisingly smart AI. The whole thing had this really unique atmosphere, you never felt as if everything was just "normal", there would always be a hint of something foreboding going on. I loved the story above all, slowly uncovering the secrets behind Alma Wade, how she was made, etc. Truly a masterful game.
Then came the sequel. I enjoyed it just as much, it felt like a step into the right direction. The world was bigger, it expanded upon the release of Alma Wade and had tons of great moments. Again, good action paired with horror, such variety everywhere, some memorable characters. However, most importantly, it continued the story in a meaningful way and left on a nasty cliffhanger that was begging for a third game. The one DLC we got, Reborn, just ignited those flames further.
And then came *sigh* the greatest disappointment ever. The third one. Bloody hell, it ruined everything. Do not get me wrong - the game was enjoyable in a way. However, the action and so on wasn't the only important thing. What about the story? A great story the first two games had spent such time to build... Completely wasted. Alma Wade lost all meaning, characters from the past serve little to no purpose, the ending makes no sense, etc. All that paired with COOP which was in my opinion entirely unnecessary. Naturally these are just claims which would take me too long to go into detail over here in the comments. Still, I stand by my point. The first two games build such an amazing world, such a great story - and it all came apart with the third game. Everything felt thrown together, the few decent elements of it a dim light among chaos. I played it, finished it and felt so disappointed. I felt the same way with Dead Space. Another flawed trilogy, two good games followed by a disaster of a third one that completely lost sight of what made its predecessors so good. It is just such a big shame.
These days I look back at FEAR 1 and 2, remembering them as such awesome games, just like with Dead Space 1 and 2, and how such great potential was ultimately squandered. Rest in peace.
F.E.A.R 1 is such a masterpiece. I love it to death. 2 is a fine sequel but godammit I wish Monolith finished it themselves with 3.
The original FEAR is the main inspiration for Resident Evil 7's story.
What a nice Friday surprise! That is an incredibly well done video! Thank you.
Maybe it’s just the Mandela effect but I could have sworn this video was already out.
I know man, about 6 instances of deja vu throughout the entire vid.
They previously released a video called "Embracing F.E.A.R."
I thought the same thing, then I realized I was thinking of Noah Caldwell-Gervais' F.E.A.R Retrospective video. He brings up a lot of the same talking points, so I'm assuming you probably watched that too.
Scott B hey I thought same, and that was come first when I saw re2 remake here which I know for sure that it wasn't there at all first time when I watched it. Also re2 remake didn't even come out than.
Hard disagree about Fear's MP being forgettable. It's easily one of my favorite MP's of all time. Add the combat of the first game but against people? Instantly something as simple as tdm is one of the best.
EVEN HARDER DISAGREE about extraction point. Extraction point to me is the true end to fear. A perfect ending to such a messed up situation. It took what the original F.E.A.R. did and pushed it to the extreme. Nothing ever came close to this, not even the base game.
Hey wait a second. I know you.
Yoo it’s Jarek
Extraction point is my fav FEAR game (best balance between combat, leveldesign and horror), but there is no denying that it suffers from a weak story and almost no explanations whatsoever (Why and how is Paxton backston? Why is Alma suddenly protecting point man from replicas and seemingly opposing Paxton? Nothing of that is explained ingame). Extraction point raises more questions than it answers and sadly, Perseus Mandate didn't bring us the conclusion the timeline needed. If anything, Perseus Mandate felt even more random, without adding anything meaningful to the story or offering any interesting gameplay.
@@LegioXXI I felt all of that made sense with alma's schizophrenic actions. Extraction point also gave us the most satisfying end to a F.E.A.R. game. Their end goal was understood and realized. As for Perseus Mandate....it's really bad. I didn't even bother covering it on my channel.
i thought Fear 3 was ok but it was too short for the single player now for Fear 2 i would go back and play it none stop just to see her and yes i love Alma story witch is sad.
i replayed the first one recently. it holds up so well, still so good
It's almost like the company forgot that what made F.E.A.R. special was it's J-Horror elements. With the success of Call of Duty and other FPS games of the time they tried to chase that FPS audience. And in doing so chased away their main audience. I'd like to see a survival horror re-imagining of F.E.A.R. Like Dead Space or Resident Evil 7, action and horror can go really well with each other. As you progress through this doc you see that from sequel to sequel the combat gets slower. Just by looking at it. It loses how dynamic it once was. Some of the times I've been the most scared in a game is when that little girl jumped in front of me. I have fond memories of the franchise.
For me, the series ended with FEAR 2 (love this game).
😍 FEAR 1 & 2 are available on drmfree GOG 😍
Random comment I know, but thank you for having a rememberable voice, bc this clarified I had fell asleep to your voice last night
I still play FEAR 1 and its expansions occasionally. The combat still feels awesome after all these years. FEAR 2 & 3 were enjoyable as well, but never had the same impact to me. And i'd love to see the No One Lives Forever franchise get revived.
Can you do this with Core Design and Tomb Raider?
Suggestions: the "Thief" series or the "Deus Ex" series.
Has Deus ex really fallen?
@@aronfejes Deus Ex: Mankind Divided sold less than 1 million copies. It was deemed an abject commercial failure by Square Enix and now the series is on Hiatus. I doubt with what's been happening to other Immersive Sims series such as Dishonored with Dishonored 2 and Dishonored: Death of the Outsider selling extremely poorly as well as Prey (2017) and also Thief (2014) selling extremely poorly. Sadly, the Immersive Sim genre isn't financially viable anymore. Overall, I doubt well ever see another Deus Ex game ever again.
You've gotten your wish..
