      Old enough to drive now? how are the roads? Still trash? I’m asking because I’ve been driving since I was 18 and that was around 5 years ago. I live in Los Angeles while we don’t have vicious potholes like that. You better believe you cannot drive for more than 15 seconds without some artificial construction, made to slow down the residence of Los Angeles for no reason. To make traffic take longer because they want all the people in LA for the most part unless you are Extremely wealthy and I’m talking about $300,000+ salary, the city officials do not want you on the road. Everybody is supposed to be driving a Prius and not moving more than 30 mph.

I still visit Sterling Heights pretty often though and I can say that the roads aren't as bad as they used to be when I first moved there but they could still be a lot better. I've only been to LA once but yea the traffic sucks pretty bad.

    I travel all over this country with my wife in an 18 wheeler. Most of the roads in this country are in horrific disrepair. The transition from road to bridge is jolting. We drive team so while I'm driving my wife is TRYING to sleep. Heavy emphasis on trying. Imagine lying in your bed when suddenly the bed drops about a foot under you then bucks back up another foot sending you into a brief free fall then catapulting you in the air. Or having an old hotel coin operated bed that vibrates but you cant shut it off. Try sleeping in those conditions and then having to drive a full 11 hours.

    Eventually they might close a lane and take a month to redo the asphalt in one lane.

    It is estimated that it would cost 2 trillion dollars to fix and upgrade America's infrastructure to acceptable levels. Imagine that!? The entire Economy of Brazil which is the 7th largest in the world is like 1.6 trillion or something! That's the state of America's infrastructure, decades of neglect, super outdated, and it's not only roads, it's the electric grid, bridges, dams, water systems, sewage systems. And when it comes to the roads, in a lot of densely populated areas, it's getting increasingly congested because they've have not kept up with the population growth nearly fast enough and did not invest in public transportation. The roads weren't built to handle so many cars and in fact, much of that population growth isn't domestic, it's due to immigration.
    This is actually detrimental to America's productivity, America can't remain competitive if infrastructure keeps deteriorating. It's not only bad for productively but it actually kills thousands of people per year.
    It's embarrassing, many third world countries have better road conditions, not joking! A Banana republic like El Salvador for instance has much better maintained roads.
    Meanwhile on the other side of the Planet, countries like China are quickly surpassing the US.. They are building brand new ultra modern bridges, thousands of miles of expressways every single year, high speed rails. We talking in the likes that we've never seen before. Highest bridge in the world? China has it, the longest bridge in the world? China. They literally have 6 lane expressways cutting through mountains, miles and miles of tunnels and bridges crossing entire valleys. It's insane!

    Michigan sub contractors and MDOT uses bad concrete and road materials. No wonder they do construction almost every summer.

    • @burkehgrant
      @burkehgrant 5 років тому

      All public works do construction every summer. In every city, in every state, in every Country. Why? Because it's more expensive / more difficult to do it in the winter. Also, because of the vast backlog of work that needs to be done. If they didn't, it would be worse than it is now.
      They don't use "bad concrete and road materials". They're required to abide by a standard set by engineers, and their work is constantly tested to ensure that it conforms to those standards.If it doesn', they have to tear it out and start again.
      Whoever told you they use bad materials , doesn't know their ass from a hole in the ground

    • @jonathanselevators
      @jonathanselevators 4 роки тому

      Puppy Cuteness MDOT is starting and should use better and stronger concrete. But I don’t like it when they use that cheap asphalt. Concrete is better, and lasts longer than asphalt.
