This is in NC, there are no passing lane laws. I've passed cops on the right in NC (and VA, SC, TN, WVA, and KY) many, many times. Never gotten nicked for it. You never know when somebody is looking for the left hand turn to a county road. She got pulled over because she decided to pass a cop who was already doing atleast 5 miles over the limit, if not more. That means she had to speed up to near 10 over to pass them. That's an easy ticket with a guaranteed conviction for the cop.
@@willcresson8776 NC 20-146, keep right except to pass? Pretty sure you won't find many opportunities to turn left on 77S. The law is the same here in TN, signs all along the highways saying " keep right except to pass ". Rarely enforced, people want to homestead the passing lane, the complain about faster traffic "weaving in and out of traffic". Cops especially run the left lane, but I get it. If they're in the right, the car in front of the invariably slows.
Try telling that to a judge. The judge will quickly tell you law enforcement does not have to obey traffic laws when in the process of their duties other than a right of way issue. And even then you can get a ticket for failing to yield. They seem to enjoy shutting you down with that excuse.
Besides, who's to say that the trooper wasn't going up to a turn around point to monitor traffic? North Carolina is good for that especially in areas where there are trees in the median.
Passed one on the right yesterday, nothing was done. I've done so countless times and nothing has happened. Yeah I am not going to go up running 20 over but anything less than 10 over, no a single one has blinked at me, NC or VA.
LOL funny thing I've gotten over a dozen tickets in Virginia and NC in the past two years. Normally, I can pass a cop going 5-10 over but if it's a state trooper or unmarked police car, it's not worth it. State troopers are notorious for pulling people over for small shit. For example: my friend in VA got pulled over doing 56 in a 55. He got a ticket for it. Another friend got pulled over 56 in a 55, they just used it as an excuse to search his car, find nothing, etc. Typical state trooper behavior. Another example is my boy in NC got pulled by a trooper for going 59 in a 60. He got a ticket for "impeding traffic". It was midnight and he was the only one on the highway. Some cops are extremely retarded assholes, and more often than not those are going to be the state troopers. They literally exist to pull people over for tints and speed enforcement on the highway, specially. You can pass a sheriff going 20 over he may or may not come after you. That ain't his concern 95% of the time. His designation is serving possibly dangerous arrest warrants.
She might have been on her phone. She might have had a registration/insurance problem. The thing is, passing the trooper on the right caused the trooper to pay attention to her and her car. I hate when cops sit in the left lane. Makes everybody else think it's okay. Good on the Honda for indirectly pointing it out by passing on the right. Too bad she got pulled over.
I'd like to think there's an additional reason for the stop than just the "pass". Otherwise the Cop is in the wrong. He can't camp in the left lane and act as a "pace car" and force the same vehicles to be within his vicinity. That's as reasonably a driver that wants to get past that officer completed that pass with a minimal speed differential. If a cop is using an interstate to get from point A to B (and not just patrolling in a circle), I would not want him to be within 5-10 car-lengths of me during the duration of my trip either.
That sucks because it's ilegal for anyone including cops to break traffic laws and thats exactly what a cop sitting in the left lane with no one to pass is doing.
First of all, why that cop is cruising in the left lane for? He is the one who should be cited. The car made the right decision when he moved to the right. If the car had slowed down to not pass the cop, he would had annoyed the dashcammer. According to the law, left lane is for passing, but if someone is cruising in the left lane, then some people would pass on the right. Although it was the car's fault to pass to the right, its also the cop's fault to cruise to the left. The judge should also give points to that cop's license for that.
I will never understand why most American drivers do not simply move right whenever they are not overtaking someone... Like honestly you can do the minimum speed posted if you want to, just do it on the right lane!!! 😡😡😡

I have passed cops doing almost 10 over on expressways, and they didn't care. This red car did it on the right side, that's why it got puled over. If the cop had been running in the right lane, as you should, the red car probably would have passed the cop on the left side without incident.
I was wondering about that... Like she wasn't going much faster, maybe a 1 or 2 but certainly not enough to get pulled over so maybe lane choice matters, but I'm not one to find out, i too will only match there pace not try to exceed or pass.... Especially if he's already over the speed limit
@@jeremiahevans7752 don't pace with other traffic. It's pointless it's dangerous like tailgating beside someone.
there's no benefit but there are dangers to it like somebody's not so likely to stab the brakes while your tailgating but people are likely to change lanes without warning. if you're with some other traffic and faster crazies come through then you become an obstacle to them thereby making them more dangerous to you.
You don't want to be around other vehicles if there's any way you can help it. Keep right except to pass, don't cause people to pass you on the right, or always drive faster than traffic to your right. however you want to put it it's the same thing. Its a little more important than speeding.
No she got stopped for speeding, not passing on the right, which there's nothing wrong with.
Trooper did not use his turn signal and should not have been in the left lane.
@@donotneed2250 If so, He shouldn't pull over.

Passed one on the right yesterday, nothing was done. I've done so countless times and nothing has happened. Yeah I am not going to go up running 20 over but anything less than 10 over, no a single one has blinked at me, NC or VA.
That will all change when you get an un-marked. YW! Carry on.
I once had a cop turn around on a hyw in NC to give me a ticket for 5 over!
She might have been on her phone. She might have had a registration/insurance problem. The thing is, passing the trooper on the right caused the trooper to pay attention to her and her car. She attracted attention by making that move. If she doesn't make that move, he probably doesn't even notice her.
Yes, he was travelling in the passing lane causing the need for a right lane pass. He needs to travel in the travelling lane. He was setting up a trap.

It's not because she passed on the right, it's because she was speeding. If you were going 70ish in a 65 and she passed you and him then she was probably going about 75 which is way too fast. There's nothing wrong with passing on the right, it's done millions of times a day all over the U.S., especially in the Chicagoland area, Atlanta, Indianapolis, and any big city traffic where there's multiple lanes.

Tell it to the judge. I already know what they will say.
