This looks wonderful! Is it an actual embellishing machine itself or a certain foot you put on the sewing machine?
Hi Judi, this is an actual machine, with 12 needles. I think you can get attachments for your sewing machine but to be honest if you're going to use it a lot, a dedicated machine would be best, or you'll spend all your time swapping things. People often have them to sell 2nd hand as they don't know what to do with them (hehe!) so you might be able to pick one up for a reasonable sum. They don't all have 12 needles, but again it depends on how much you might use it, 12 does a great job for me. See if you can borrow one to try! :)
I am totally addicted toyour videos. I have an embellisher as well but haven't used it much although I have now started to play again becuase of your videos. I struggled yesterday as my layers of fabric were too thick as I was using some thick wool felt as a base. I did wonder whether you ever use an iron-on-stabiliser on your base fabrics? I'm about to start some experiments with different fabric base layers to see what works well. Thanks for your inspiration!
I am so excited you are using your embellisher again! I hope you'll have lots of fun! I don't put a stabiliser until I'm ready to stitch, and then only if it needs one. I do use iron on sometimes, but mainly I use the Stitch and Tear which is separate...no idea why, I just like it! MAybe cos I don't need to heat up the iron!
@@StitchandCreate thank you, I’m still finding my feet. I’ve watched every one of your videos, you are so informative. I’ve also been trying my hand at that machine embroidery. I’d love to see a video on the different threads you use, which brands you prefer and which are good for different effects. There are so many to choose from and I can see you have quite a collection going! I was looking at the mettler polysheen but brothread embroidery threads get a very good write up on Amazon. I have some gutterman metallics and they add a nice bit of bling to projects. Loving your channel and look forward to seeing your next video. Thank you xx
@@Littlebirdblythe SOunds like you're doing just fine! It's so exciting isn't it! Re threads, to be hoonest I don't use anything special, just I have a lot cos I've bought them down the years! Mainly they're polyester, with some rayon or viscose ones for some shine. Guterman I use and then just what I find in the sewing shop! Just use what are easy to get in the colours you like!

I do have a few as I used to make doll clothes although often I work with more muted colours and try and hide the stitching so it's actually quite liberating to be highlighting the stitching so much. @@Littlebirdblythe love the idea of liberation! I know what you mean, the stitch is really important in sewing dolls and clothes, but we can really highlight it in textile art. Glad you've found some threads...for me colour itself has been a journey, threads playing their part in that too. :)

shed product is beautiful. It has made me want an embellishing machine!! Can you use cotton fabric with it as I have loads and loads of cotton scraps?
Hi Janie, thanks so much for your comment, really appreciate it! and yes, cotton will be fine, just need to experiment with what works and how it makes the fabrics look. Nothing too thick or heavyweight, or too closely woven, just try and see how it goes. Cotton gets a nice distressed look, depending on how much you needle it. You could make some lovely backgrounds for some applique too...lots of possibilitlies. Maybe someone you know has a machine you could try...or one they no longer need!
Where can I purchase the embellishments machine?
I'm getting going with mine. What's the netting you use please? I tried using some plastic like cross stitch fabric and it was too thick. Oops...
oops indeed! I just use simple dress weight netting, nice and light. Don't over embellish tho cos it will fragment and stick eventually! I just use it to ge things held in place then take it off. Best use the other stuff for cross stitch haha!
Do you avoid getting loops on the reverse side of your free-motion work?
OOO Adele what a question! I get loops if I forget to put the presser foot down (which does happen!). Loops underneath may mean your tension is a bit off?
Do you find that you break fewer needles as you gain confidence?
Hi Adele, I guess it helps if you feel confident. I certainly have broken needles usually when I'm stressed or in a hurry! I think being relaxed and confident helps whther it's the sewing machine or embellisher. I think they know when you're tense!! :)
Is your sewing machine a Pfaff. Could you tell me how you get the pressure bar to hold up like that. Once lowered mine is too tight on the fabric to move it about.
Hi Sylvia, it has a little button underneath the section where the needle is, not sure how to describe it, but it clicks and allows the pressure bar to hold up. Have a look!

Hi Linda, yes indeed it is, the manufacturers call it an embellisher so I do too! But well spotted! Thanks for clarifying that.Do you have one yourself?
Stitch and Create I don't have one yet. I have been looking for one to felt wool. I never thought about what else it could be used for. I will try your technique. I am loving your videos. I have one suggestion , use a microphone when filming. When you back away from the camera it's very hard to hear you as you are so soft spoken. I ordered speakers for my laptop hopefully that will help. You are very talented. Thanks for the videos
