welcome to my art and stitch playtime! I love to share my textile projects, using free machine embroidery and embellishing from in my small studio here in beautiful Cumbria in the UK. I also have fun with paint and paper in sketchbooks too sometimes. I hope all I share may inspire your own creativity.

I love the way you have positioned the birds; they know where they’re heading!! Changing the size of the moon made such a difference in altering the perspective. Can’t wait to see your finished piece. The snow was beautiful but so glad it’s just about gone here. Have a great week.
Like it! The birds are very nice. Not sure that I like the big piece of white lace at the bottom. Maybe a piece of smaller, lighter purple lace for a reflection?
Love the bigger moon and the birds.
thank you, a change for the better!
I love the sense of movement in this piece and how it's evolving and I look forward to next week! ♥
thank you Shirley, it feels it just keep changing when I'm not even in the room haha!! xx
Love the movement in the seagulls😊
thanks helen, they are such beautiful birds aren't they! xx
@StitchandCreate yes, big too
The great thing about nature is that it is not rigid, straight, or vertical. I love how this piece is evolving. Can't wait until next week. xx
I love your description of nature, Nita, and the word is definitely evolving! xx

Happy New Year Emma ! I can see cliffs and sea , maybe a boat or small fisherman’s cottage?
Great ideas Claire, thank you! this is why I love asking you all! xx
I too feel the nights a drawing out albeit very slowly but it’s an upward trajectory as they say and spring will soon be here.A very dramatic seascape Emma, perhaps some white waves and crashing foam? But it’s a stunning piece. Rhian (From the North Wales coast) 👍
I love your ideas of drama and white waves Rhian! Are they inspired by where you live? I love North Wales, spent some wonderful times there when I was a student in Liverpool. Happy days! xx
@ absolutely inspired by my surroundings here on the coast and my original home in Eryri (Snowdonia)
Hello! Really enjoyed your video as always! I saw the exact same things as you in your piece before you mentioned the Cliff and Sea as well as some Rocks in the water. Was thinking much of the very same as you were asking what we see. I have been very sickly for some years now and just setting up my crafty space again with my felting machine and sew machine. I have quite a stash of thrifted bits of fabrics, yarns etc to experiment with. You're such an inspiration and I hope to begin a project very soon. Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for your lovely comment, it's so nice to have you here! I hope you'll feel well and start creating soon, even small and slow can be a beginning, and bring you joy! I love that you've got yourself set up, such a pleasure in that isn't there! xx

Happy New Year to you and your family Emma, so glad to hear you had a quiet Christmas and enjoyed yourselves. We went to Sydney (two days drive from Adelaide) taking out two dogs, luggage, presents, etc. so a packed car. We were glad to return home for New Year and had a lovely quiet evening together. Your piece looks like the sky, cliffs, sea, and then darker sea coloured by the sky. Can't wait to see what you decide by next week. Have a lovely week, regards, Nita
Hello NitaAw that sounds lovely Nita, and there's nothing like a trip away to make you appreciate home! We had a weekend away not far, but I was pleased to go but glad to come back home! Yes I think we've defo got some sea dn cliffs going on...and we'll have to play and see what's next! It's fun whatever happens xx

@@StitchandCreate Merci ! La vidéo est traduite mais ce sont les messages ( commentaires) qu'il ne le sont pas . Bravo pour tous les partages 😊
I hope you will understand my non-craft related comment ... but as you film in close-up, I couldn't help noticing the nails on your right hand. It might be useful that they are seen to by a dermatologist, unless they suffered an episode under a hammer or were exposed to toxic products?
I am grateful for your kind comments, it's a slightly tricky thing to show work close up and not my nails! I work closely with my body and she's been clearing so I am just patient as she works her stuff! It's just a process, but I thank you for your suggestions. xx 😍
Happy New Year Emma. Like you, I celebrate the Solstice and love the changing light as we move towards spring. The birds are definitely singing more which is a joy to hear! Congrats on the rebrand, I will take a look - nothing like a fresh start is there! Good to have your inspiring videos back and I love your new piece - I see more of a meadow type scene and could picture seed heads or an old tree in the foreground. Can't wait to see what appears next♥
It really lifts your heart to hear the birds, I'm glad I'm not imagining their singing! We've had snow this week and it's odd to think they are getting ready to start nesting! Yes, I love a fresh start and the writing was on the wall to change, I followed the nudge and have loved the process of revisitng my work. Whatever happens next who knows?! I love your idea of a meadow, and seedheads or tree, that was vey much my first thought...but we'll see!! xx
Happy New Year to All! Lovely to have you back Emma. Love what you’ve done so far and can’t wait to see what the end result will be. I’m going to repurpose some old cushion covers that are the same fabric as your cliff but burgundy (my husband has never liked them) and we’ll see what happens with them too. Love your new Folksy shop!
oo thanks for visitng it Anne! And I love the idea of upcyling your cushion covers esp if it would make your husband happy! 😉It's a super fun fabric to play with...
Emma, happy new year. I see what you see, and I would put stars in that clear, crisp night sky. Maybe in a light lavender to reflect the water, another wonderful piece. Looking forward to seeing what you decide. I also, love “Team World.” We need to work together to create a better world.
I love the idea of stars Teresa, thank you! there's so much to see in the night sky these days! I think many of us already are working together, just we don't always see or hear abut it! I feel we are creating something lovely together here! 😍
Welcome back so good to see you again in your studio! The book you mentioned sounds very interesting I’ll have to look into that for sure!
thank you! lovely to be back. I'm think it's called 'You Matter', published in 2022. I haven't read it but I love the idea that's it's a recipe for living together as humanity! xx
@ thank you for the book title, I can’t wait to read it. Also interested in how you celebrate the Solstice. I am in the US and had to abandon the over commercialization of the holidays here and felt a bit lost thinking “now what?” Then read a book called, Sacred Seasons by Kirsty Gallagher last year and have just started honoring the power of the seasons as my ancestors did. Looking forward to your video next week. Thanks again 🩷
Have you thought about turning it upside down and having the plain, non-lacey fabric as the bottom of the piece? You could then have a moon lit scene. You could have a moon lit scene without turning it upside down of course, but I see the plain fabric as water.
ooo Christine, I do like that, the idea of turning it upside down is brilliant. I'll have a look tomorrow! Moonlight had crossed my mind...but I love how you are seeing its possibilities. Did you stand on your head to check it?! xx
@@StitchandCreate Lol, sort of I twisted my body to see what it would look like. My hubby informs me that I could have done the same things using the computer but where's the fun in that.
@@christinejones8478 🤣 indeed I can just see you doing it! and what, a computer, when you could have a genius creative human on the case?! love my computer but not for art! xx
Hi I am seeing a cliff and sea wondered if seagulls could fly in to shore?
ooo Helen, I love your idea, beautiful, thank you! xx
Happy New Year from Scotland - love your work, can’t wait to see what you do next!!!
thanks so much Irene, whereabouts in Sotland are you? I love it up there, esp the Islands. We just had a weekend in Annan (very close to home!!) xx
@ I’m in Fife, central Scotland, on the east coast.
@@IreneWood-sg8lg oo lovely, coast and countryside! lots to inspire you I'm sure xx
Good to see you back. Made my afternoon. I hate these cold, dark days and your video brought a bit of sunshine! It seems ages since you started this piece. I see a meadow under some cliffs with a river in the foreground. It was interesting hearing you talk about Etsy, I've had a similar experience with them stopping some of my money. I have been toying with the idea of switching to Folksy especially as it is a UK based company.
Glad it wasn't just me, sadly I think they sold out, and went public! What's your shop name, I'd love to see your work! I found switching to Folksy really easy, and I enjoyed the process of making a new shop. They will even move stuff for you! It's been very welcoming I feel, being among real makers again. So glad I cheered your day, it is hanging on in there isn't it! We've had snow and sun this week which has been great xx
@@StitchandCreate My shop is OnAngelWingsByJane . I love making things from scraps. My motto is "No scrap left behind!" I love making things but hate the business bit of it all. I started making bags when I retired and things have just snowballed. I joined the Leighton Buzzard Art Society 3 years ago which I love. It has really expanded the sort of thing I make. Your videos have also inspired me. I now have a much loved Embellisher which I'd never heard of before you started your channel!!
@@janiegreen3394 Oo I can see you are in fact the 'Queen of Upcycling' Janie, you've got some lovely things in your shop and I can see no scrap is too small...this must be why we get on so well! I esp like your scrapbook kits, great idea! The business side is a tricky one for creatives, I always thought I'd like to make and someone else could price and sell it for me!!🤣
@@StitchandCreate That would be my dream!!

Welcome back Emma, I am seeing a cliff, but I am unsure about what to put in the foreground, looking forward to seeing what you do with this. Wishing you a very happy and creative new year, thank you for sharing xx ❤
and to you too Mandy, here's to a bright new creative world! I'm not sure either, so we'll see what happens!! xx
Maybe a seascape with a boat or two and birds?
I love that Jodeen, your suggestion of birds is perfect! xx
Love this idea!
I love watching you Emma, you are so inspirational. I enjoy playing with my embellishing machine to create seascape pictures that i have made as gifts for my family, i have used double mount picture frames to frame them to get the depth of the fabrics in. How do you mount your finished artwork?
Have a wonderful Christmas Emma and see you again in 2025❤
and you too Claire xx
I love your creative process Emma. When you first placed the lilac fabric with the dark contrast a furrowed field and moody woodland emerged. Your choice of cliffs so reminds me of Sutton Bank or Stanage edge, both beautiful scenic places. I can’t wait to see how your piece develops. Thank you for sharing your joy of creativity. Wishing you a peaceful Festive Season. Looking forward to more of your amazing work in 2025.
it's just funny how it all starts to create something, just adding a piece of fabric changed everything! thanks so much for your companyy here Anne, and I'll look forward to chatting in 2025! xx
This piece is really becoming very appealing. Thank you for all your videos, ideas and inspiration this last year. Enjoy a nice break. Have a lovely Christmas and New Year and I look forward to watching again in 2025. Lots of love, Nita xxxxx
thank you for sharing this corner of the world with me Nita, ! A happy peaceful and creative New Year to you, see you soon! xx❤
Merry Christmas, and a very Happy New Year to you and your family.
and to you and yours xx
A dark sky with a sheer cliff, then a meadow with a creek at the bottom, what a beautiful moody landscape.
moody is such a good word, esp with the weather today! xx
Thank you Emma for all the joy and inspiration you give us every week. May peace and joy reign in your life on these feast days.See you very soon!
thank you so much Helene, for your lovely company here, and peace and joy to you too xx
I am always loving what you do - how you jump in and just go. But this piece really strikes me, maybe the colors? ALWAYS love the texture. Thanks for sharing.
I can't wait until we see how you've sewn it together. It's going to be stunning. Have a great Christmas and New Year. See you in 2025 for some more delicious fabric adventures!!
well fingers crossed for all those things Janie, and wishing you all the best...may creative times lie ahead for us all! xx
Hope you feel better soon and completely enjoy your holiday season❤

and to you and yours Mandy, thank you for being here, look forward to more creating soon! xx
You have given us much to be inspired by this year Emma and for that I am very grateful 🙏. The colour, contrast and texture of the piece today is stunning and I look forward to seeing how it is finished next year. Wishing you well, I think a lot of us have been a bit under the weather recently so I wish you a restful, peaceful break and the space to become even more creatively inspired in 2025! Thank you for sharing your creativity with us ♥
I think there's a lot of clearing going on...and I feel blessed to be feeeling better! It's been a very gentle time all round and I am so lucky. Thank you so much for your company here, I wish you and your family a peaceful time and see you soon for what comes next! xx
Hi Emma, thanks for sharing, your videos are always eagerly awaited by me. I hope you feel better soon. I too get "nudges" and if I don't listen I always regret it as usually something goes wrong etc. Your piece looks lovely, the colours are beautiful and you always make it look so easy. Have a great week, Nita
Hi Nita, so nice to share with you! a kindred spirit, and another wise woman! I just play and it comes easy...mostly!! 😉 xx
Once again a beautiful transformation from some subtle delicate fabrics. I can’t believe how the flowery fabric has changed. I see a stormy evening on the top of the moors already in your piece. Looking forward to seeing which direction you take. You’re right Emma, a little me time and a cuppa is what we all need in this crazy world. My husband always knows what I’m doing now when he hears that music! Thank you again 😊
ooo Anne I love what you're seeing! wild moorland stormyness sounds beautiful! so good to have your imagination and company here with me!xx
Hi Emma, I have been watching for so long and look forward to each new inspiring period of time you share so freely each week. I have an embellisher, now set up in my studio and a few visits to some 2nd hand shops and I am ready to create here in BC Canada!!!😁
aw Bernadette, it's so lovely to connect when we live so far away from each other, magic of the internet! So excited you and your embellisher are on the creative journey together...have fun! xx
My immediate reaction was "springtime meadow"
that's such a lovely idea, yes, all the little flowers peeping out! thank you for sharing it with me...xx
Beautiful soft colours, seeing a wintry Cumbrian landscape emerging so far! Love the texture too. Look forward to seeing where this piece goes next ❤ You've inspired me, I need to play!
ooo a wintry cumbrian landscape could well be emerging, it certainly has for real over the last few days! And yes, go play, there's too much on the to do list otherwise! xx
The embellisher has helped concentrate the colours. it looks scrummy at the moment and I can't wait to see what you will do next.
it's amazing how it just transforms the fabrics, so many possibilities! xx
Love, love the texture of this one and can’t wait to see what it becomes❤
it's rather delicious so far isn't it, thanks to old clothes and a magic machine! xx
