Looking for a really good introductory comparison of Eurorack reverbs, I have to say that this was probably the best video I've seen so far. And I've seen a lot of them! Thank you very much!
Same here! It seems like a logical module to add to their lineup and I would get it without even listening to it. If MN made the Mimeophon a bit bigger in favor of more 'Halo' options they would have already been there...
They all sound amazing. Nice work, as usual.🦇🔥 You really seem to vibe well with the Starlab; some of those swells and long tails remind me of classic Tomita records. I haven’t added a stereo delay to my setup yet. There are a lot of cool ones to choose from, so thank you for another insightful glimpse into the possibilities.
great videos, thanks for this! somehow strymon sounds simply brilliant to me. I have a few pedals and might replace them with the modules at some point. quality stuff!
I often find myself patching the StarLab as a first choice reverb where I often picked Desmodus before. I just 'figured out' I always pick a creative/complex reverb when the soundsource is simple, but when the source is complex, you just want a reverb that adds high quality without taking the lead role.
Great comparison review Robert but what order out of these would you put them in no 1 choice and so on???? Have you seen Superbooth lots new modules but I think you’d like QUANALOG modules bou bou, Butterfly made by one man band, I was impressed with the song type mode of composing, not all modules available yet but looks Promising Cheers your 🇬🇧🇬🇧UK friend Martin👍🆒🎶🌈🕸⚡️👁🔱👽😎
There is a another Module from Radikal technologies called effexx 1701. you should try that one. Thats one hell of a effect Module. Specially when it comes to reverb. despite i have almost all the modules performing in this amazing Video, thats my first go 2 reverb.
Reverb King! There is no doubt that there are some great reverb modules, but since I am recording either into a DAW or AUM on iOS platform, why no use some of the great reverbs available there or on my Zoia? Just as easy to modulate there. attempting to make the best uses of resources I already have.
Indeed, ZOIA is just amazing, but I wanted to stick to modules more or less dedicated to reverb. Looking back I should definitely have used ZOIA too. Maybe I'll make an edit of this video and upload it again...
@@CinematicLaboratory thank you! I am on a really tight budget due to paying for 1 1/2 years of cancer treatments so I need to limit module purchase to things that are not available in software, i.e. Strega etc. That might be an interesting video. Only using modules that you can’t easily replicate in software. What would they be?
@@CinematicLaboratory do you think the zoia stacks up against the ecr? I have erbe/zdsp etc but a convolution is on the list and ofc the zoia does more stuff
@@rjschrei Sorry for the late reply, I missed your comment. As far as I know any module can be replicated in software. Just look at the Instruo modules now featured in VCV. Granular synthesis is a bit underwhelmed (and no Arbhar in VCV) but there are amazing VST's for that. Arturia has a very good Easel VST so I guess this covers both Buchla and MakeNoise. The only thing that's missing from software is the tactile experience of working with real voltage with knobs and cables.
Quick summary: Low budget? FX-AID. Pro? StarLab or ECR+. Alchemist? Desmodus Versio and/or Erbe-Verb. Don't give a f*ck? Clouds. How about spring reverb? Not my cup of tea, but a must have for a classic analog patch.
Desmodus, Erbe and Starlab.... just incredibly beautiful sounding modules

I think you subconsciously talked me into the starlab and desmodus
I always love to meet a professional alchemist :).
Nice. I, too, have a reverb addiction, so I will no doubt be using this video for reference.
Really cool. I long for an Erbe Verb Rev2 so much with "stereo" ins. The "rehtinking" of Echophon into Mimeophon was just glorious so why not ?

Very useful, thanks a lot ! I'll go for the Desmodus

Next step is to join Magneto and StarLab in one patch. Can't wait to hear how that will sound :)

I don't think I'd like to rank them. Everyone should decide for themselves.
Very helpful. Great vid!
Beautiful vid again 😍 reverb addict!

I heard the reverb on that one isnt super deep with options but I guess has a good sound? what other ones do you prefer?
Valhalla Delay can put distortion in the reverb tank. Not in eurorack, though.

@@joshk2181 ECR specializes on convolution and it's the most realistic/creative reverb I have. But Zoia can do soooo much!
