Every time I click on one of those Future Music Magazine Videos I am guessing: IS it DivKid or Mylarmelodies this time.... It doesen't actually matter though because I just love both of these guys anyways :D
Exactly right about the Erbe being as much a sound-design module as it is a basic reverb, I think. You aren't getting full value from this if you don't push the module into unusual configurations now and then. Well done.
Still my absolute all time favourite reverb. The stereo image is stunning to I use it every day in the studio as my go to reverb on an Aux in Logic/Pro Tools. Add a bit of cv animation synced up and it makes for a totally original production every time Tony and Tom hit the ball well and truly out of the park with this
stereo image is nothing special. the algo itself could also be more.. well, polished. not in a realistic/lush sense of the word, but one can't escape all those harsh metallic overtones even filtered. the genius of its design is all in its exposed controls, but then again - many software reverbs have it, and many artists used this before, like Emptyset, without the Erbe. it's good, but limited by any standards apart from the Eurorack, and pity no manufacturer, MN first of all, didn't come up with something better developed since then. also pity all Tom's designs suffer from Tony's choice of weak processors etc and hence low SQ/high noise floor (see Mimeophon). that's not to say I don't love the Erbe - but rather to provide criticism to balance all the fanfare
I know erbeverb isn't the best traditional reverb, however it's one of the most creative. It makes everything sound better going through it, like it was glued to itself.... and mine will never be sold.
This amazing verb is my only pre-built module in my studio rack and I’ll never sell this beast. I learned a lot with this vid. Keep up the good work Ben!!
Personally I feel the Erbe-Verb sounds like frozen sheet metal in deep space, it has no warmth and the pre-delay almost always sounds like somebody's throwing a tin can to your back wall. But it's a completely totally AWESOME musical instrument and it can probably scare the hell out of people too. It's reverb reimagined. Excellent stuff - and excellent demo as always. Total fun with Clouds behind it. Or any other microsound module.
Lots of Erbes and spices in this one still. Great bit of advice on the reverb after the oscillator and before the VCA. Think of the body of an acoustic guitar or a violin.
I think you hit the nail on the head when you said put it next to the oscillator. Using this as a reverb effect seems like such a waste. It’s probably my favourite effect module in my rack.
The Real question tho is: does it self patch? Jokes aside this was my second module after Maths to pair with my Mother32 and I dont think I EVER made a patch without including it, either as reverb or as gnarly effects generator or simple metallic drummyish noises, such a great module! I always found it's a reverb in the sense it lets you play with the reverb's sound rather than actually reverberating (is that even a word?) sounds. Great video with great patches as always Ben, btw.
6:45!!!: My wife have a gongs and always says that my synthesizers can not do this!!! Classical story! But! Now! I HEAR IT! ITS REAL!!! I was always believe that it can not be inposible: that the sound of the gong can be achieved with the modular (if it's not with regular synthesizer). And the day comes!!! 6:45! We will celebrate!!!
Would be awesome if there was a delay like that, with all those weird unexpected oscillations and feedback. Mimeophon is not what i think of, too clean, maybe the Befaco Crush Delay is in the direction but not really, too short time, and those crackling noises are fun but not a "delay like the erbe verb".

It’s mono

This is the most amazing reverb I've ever heard!
Totally
One of my favorite modules. It's almost more of an instrument than just an effect.
Precarious333 Music absolutely. I love it

Thank you. Incredible reverb.

The tones at 14:11 would sound awesome through a reverb!
Thanks for that. So deep and fun.
Super nice! Thanks!!!
Nice review thank you, this is helping my decision making process
Great job as always Mr. Ben.

Can you try roli seaboard? I love it😍🔥
Nice track right at the end Ben
wow, I love it!
The horror stuff sounds like Thom Yorke's work on Suspiria. Knowing that he uses a Shared System I'm betting...

Hey, do you happen to remember which oscillator you were using for the LPG section? DPO? Love the patch at the end!
Great review.
My Erbe, after 9:30 or so, takes the volume and balls out of my DPO. Why is that?? That’s my only gripe.
Why mono in though?
Anybody knows how to make that sound at 0:32? FM?
Have this module and I like it mostly. But it often sounds metallic and noisy. Its nothing like a lush lexicon verb.
That was always my impression, as is the case with most digi verbs, almost all verb in eurorack.
Metallic noise is why you buy it.
I learnt how to use it now. The key is to modulate it for me@@snörre23
whats the main OSC used?
this sounds like the new firmware, can anyone confirm?
ferrihydrite it’s as is
There are no firmware’s from what i know
13: on.... very music is rotted one note :)
Anyone else's make a crackly noise when turning the mix knob from totally off to any amount of on?
nope, sounds like yours might be defected :/
Mine, too. Seems to be a rather common defect.
I think I'm going to have to get an Erbe-Verb now. Shouldn't have watched this...
Starthief get one. You won’t regret it. It’s a really interesting effect.
The short reverbs would definitely suit something like Stranger Things soundtrack.
