WM's Manual Garbage Collection--Carlsbad, CA (Part 2)

- As common as it is to see WM collecting trash manually in, say, Florida, it is a rare sight here in California. Carlsbad is one of the last cities where completely manual collection is still going strong, with two-stream recycling in crates, and trash as well as greens in customer-provided cans. The truck you'll see here is the main kind that collects in the city of Carlsbad, just up the coast from San Diego. A split version of this same truck would be doing the recycling, and another front loader on a Volvo chassis (most commonly) is what does the yard waste.
Comment on the video please! I worked hard for this to be a success, and wasted much of my time editing it. Hope you enjoy it though!

This takes me back to the good old days when everything was manual. Loved the video lol sorry I’m 9 years late 😂
This video makes me crave manual collection. Im glad Carlsbad is still going at it.

Great vid like and fav.
There is a lot of trash at some of those houses
very nice video! I really like manual collection. thanks!
Man all this video does I make me want to film in Barberton more!
Amazing footage. Wow he really had the hopper full at 2:38 It does not look like there is too much recycle set out (at least in the recycle bins) and all the boxes with in another box just wind up as trash :/ It seems everyone has the 35g Rubbermaid for their cans in Carlsbad.
Great job on the video!
Boy, this guy is in no hurry
Cool vid my sort of action ,Time well taken to make this vid
Nice job!
nice great that you caught this
was that a paintball gun?? nice! haha great video! Glad to see a bit of muscle not metal doing the work for a change.
Nice vid! Love this truck! Are you going to get more?
Nice footage. Just as epic as part 1. Shame that some of that recycle went to waste though.
LOL @ 8:19. Try visiting Newport Beach. If everyone doesn't have the 32 gallon black can from Home Depot, they'll have that coffee-colored can.
Great footage Scott! I really enjoyed seeing part 2. How much time did you spend there that day? Looks like it was fun!
Why did he take all that recycle in the beginning. nice footage scott!!!!
awesome vid. is it once or twice weekly garbage? and any chance at getting a recycle vid?
@Trashman242
That is the 35 gallon Rubbermaid Roughneck. Rubbermaid no longer makes them, but Hefty's 45 gallon model (sold at Target) is based off them. Believe me that can's not a garbage man approved bin.
Great job on this vid!
What was the pink thing at about 9:05 ?
Nice
Great work, was that a real gun at 7:36???
no, just a weird little squirt gun.
@Trashman242 Ahh i understand thanks and your welcome
does this truck dump at a M.R.F. or does it go directly to a land fill
Why does he take the recycling at the second stop? Is is comingled together?
Why is it in the US you have huge black garbage bags? Here in the UK we don't have that size. Are they heavy to lift and do they compact well?
i think that this is the slowest way to collect trash
why do they use a split FEL for recycling?
yeah hope that this gets sorted. and whqt did he pick up out of the currto can

I wish I could get someone to record me on my route. Kinda hard to make videos driving a one man truck. I always had a helper at Richfield so it was easy to make vids.
Bonjour sava
07:35 what was that? a weapon? lol
All that extra shit and no tips. Keep it
I don’t want you to
Why does this guy take recycle?
Nice job!
