That is one of the best realworld setups I've seen brother. I just got an 05 2500HD and I'm building it into a multi-purpose rig. I just subscribed and I look forward to checking out this rig some more.
this is like my truck, use it to haul horse trailers, than wanted to camp at horse shows so did a camping setup, also use it for mechanic work, and its a great daily. love rigs that work and do more than just one thing.
I have a 2013 2500 HD 6.0 gasser. It’s my work/hunting trailer puller. It’s set up nice too. Nice seeing other Silverado 2500 HD builds. I have the same Colorado outdoorsman plates. Sik truck!!
I'm scoping out different builds for some ideas on what exactly I want to build. I talked to my fiance last night about building one together, so within the next year or two, we are hoping to have one done and taking the first trip. Gathering all the information, different builds, different setups, just to see what kind of modifications and fabrications we want to do is fun exciting and motivating. Your build respectfully is perfect. I love it. Thanks for posting g.
Thanks for the positive feedback. Good luck and follow my IG. You can easily ask me for advice there or I can send more detailed pictures. @gatewaygarage_co
Thank you. I'm not sure what else you would like to see. It's really hard to remove but I have some great photos on my IG page @GatewayGarage_co. I'm happy to answer any questions and try to help you out
I'm a little late to the game, but this thing is awesome. Love the set-up, also the rack. Been looking into building one that will fit like this and work with my cap and tonneau cover and this gave me a great idea. Cool video thank you
I have an 07 classic (this body style) Duramax and I’ll be honest with ya- Half the time I wish it had the LS motor in it. I’ve been looking for a clean one as a second rig. Those 6.0s are super solid and way better for running short trips in the winter. Nice setup! 👍🏻
@@gatewaygarage I want to do the same NNBS. I'm gonna go with some OME rear leaf springs instead of blocks again. That or i'll do a full semi floater rear axle off the 2500HD gasser and then get the rear and front lockers
Yours is a 1500? Can't go wrong with a 14 bolt full floater really. I have one for my burb as well as a Dana 60 front for it. I also have on in my obs and in my overland trailer haha
HID and LED project way better and safer patterns than halogens - the problem is when the projectors aren’t aimed correctly especially after lifting the front end, and the lights blind traffic going the opposite direction
It was custom built by someone else. I found it on Craigslist for 100 bucks and had it sandblasted and rhino lined after I made some minor changes to it
I have about a 3 or 3.5 inch lift total using the torsion keys and new upper control arms. I am planning to swap that with a bds 4.5 in the future. I did trim alot to fit these tires but if you chose a wheel with less offset you may not need to trim as much or at all
Nice rig.. I have an 06 long bed Duramax and just picked up a used topper to do something similar to yours. I was considering building the rack but like the way yours is set up. Especially the way it clamps to the bed. What brand is that rack? It would save me tons of work. By the way I have subscribed to your channel. Thanks.
Thank you! I am really happy with the rack. But it's not a store bought unit. I found it on Craigslist by chance. All I had to do was have it sandblasted and coated. I added the mesh and changed the supports just to add some strength. I do have some more detailed pictures on my ig account @gatewaygarage_co
Yes I did alot of trimming. I would have had to do a whole lot more with a factory bumper. But even still I had to do the full nor cal modification. Thats was before I put on the bushwacker cut out flares and cut an additional 1.5 inches out of the outside fender
Hey great video. What is the mileage on your truck? I have a 2005 Chevy Colorado and I’m not sure if I should invest in upgrading it with 167k miles on it already. I like what you did so appreciate you sharing and inspiring!
My truck currently has about 200k on it. I expect it to go another 100 at least. I don't know much about the colorado as far as engine options etc. For longevity.
@@nelnutta1055the Colorado from 04-12 have excellent engines. The 3.5 isn’t as great as the 3.7, but still a good engine. I have an 04 with the 3.5 nearing 300k and never had any major issues with it. Runs like a top and being a 5 cylinder compared to the 2.8/2.9? 4 cylinder its got plenty of power. I always said, mileage of a 4 cylinder with the power of a 6.

I love the roof rack set up. You should make a more detailed video on it. Love your truck and what you’ve done

I paid $250 for a discount brake 14b ff from an nbs truck for my obs
Great video! Love the truck!
Sick set up
Thank you!
Great video. A solid functional build that looks good.
Thank you
Awesome job man ! Ima fan 🤜🤛 gave me a bunch of ideas
I'm glad I could help. I'm easy to get ahold of here or IG if you have any questions
Beautiful truck
Cant believe I found this. I have a 05 8.1 and I want to do this
Make sure to subscribe. Im not really consistent on videos yet but I definitely have more content coming
The headers. You didn't mention those and I think that was a nice bolt on mod. Nice boat, btw. Lol.
I did mention the headers while I was under the hood
@@gatewaygarage I guess mom was clucking at me rite then
Its hard to remember everything and I get stupid when I turn on the camera

I do not have projector housings so hid and led do not work. I have reflective housings so all they do effectively is blind oncoming traffic
Nice rig, where did you get that roof rack. I'd like to get one like that for me GMC Sierra.

Where did you get that tailgate lock and handle

@@gatewaygarage Thanks. I'll check em out.
What brand are the rims? They look great.
Raceline Clutch 20x10 -19 with cooper st maxx 35x12.5
Where did you purchase the plastic piece to turn the sunglasses cubby into a switch panel?
Junkyard. Some suv's had the blank there instead of a cubby and then I just drilled my own holes
How much does the air raid intake pipe change the sound? Do you think it is worth it? Also, where did you get those mud flaps? Thanks!
nice build. what brand of truck topper is that?
Thank you. It is a leer. Not sure of the model I bought it used
Being leveled did you have to do any trimming to fit the 35?
Yes I did alot of trimming. I would have had to do a whole lot more with a factory bumper. But even still I had to do the full nor cal modification. Thats was before I put on the bushwacker cut out flares and cut an additional 1.5 inches out of the outside fender
life tip- never use plasty dip, it's terrible and always turns to shit shortly after. Always paint the part instead.
I think as of now the only plasti dipped part I have is the cb antenna bracket. And it's a pain to take off so I'll just leave it

I don't think Colorados are very dependable for high mileage. You'd be better off get a full size chevy with a 5.3 or 6.0 from 2000-2006

What Brand Roof basket/ rack is that?
It's home made
Did you do anything to the cap to accommodate the rack
Only had to put thicker foam seal tape
@@gatewaygarage does the door seal ok
Yeah I'd does. The corners under the fiberglass either side of the tailgate need a lil extra foam but thats all
