I bought my LBZ new in late 2006 and have been able to change fuel filter from the top every time. A little tip for you, after replacing fuel filter start your truck, when it stalls just crack the purge screw then pump until fuel comes out, close screw and pump the primer until it won't depress any more. Start the truck and you are good to go. I actually put a valve on mine to make it less messy. Then I added a lift pump and can forgo the bleeding process altogether. If your truck is 4wd you'll want to add the BRNY plate to your transfer case pump so you don't end up with the pump rub pin hole. I also added the filtration systems bypass oil filter as well to filter the oil better. There's a lot you can do to these but I would start with the mods that extend the life of the truck. Also, they came with a shallow transmission pan, I would replace it with the standard,or what most call the deep pan from allison.
Keep the rain guards, they look good and they’re practical. And if you ever have your window pop off track, you can force it up to almost closed and not have to worry about it leaking. Speaking from experience here, definitely was a life saver
wow that truck was finished 5 days after i was born. for a 16 almost 17 year old truck its in really really good shape! good on the previous owner for taking such care of it.

Btw, you can cut a little square space out in your fender for servicing the fuel filter, and cut two little small holes for some hard to see zip ties, once you’re done with it then put two new zip ties back in. Also you don’t have to take the plastic screw all the way out. Just open it one turn and pump until you see fuel
Banks is an awesome intake. I’d suggest ordering the cover for the filter. I ordered the dry filter with the filter cover and the scoop and the scoop makes a major difference in intake temps. My intake temps are roughly 2 degrees above ambient when rolling. It woke the truck up, I also have the banks six gun tuner.
Aren't there drain tubes for the sunroof that go down the A and B pillars? It's pretty common for those to get clogged and cause water to puddle up inside the roof and leak onto the headliner. Might want to look that up and try cleaning them out.
What motor? But still you got one of the best year chevys, keep it forever. I believe its the 3rd gen, from 07 to 13. All first 3 gens are the best but 1st and 3rd are the best

I couldn’t agree more with ya chase about the sunroof design how it opens, I’ve always loved that look. I’ve even thought about putting a aftermarket in my 2020 trailboss 6.2 but it would cost too much to re design the current one lol. Awesome truck man!
I have an 05 duramax (same specs without a sun roof) and personally I love my rain guards… I don’t care for the look too much, but I use the function all the time, it keeps bugs from being sucked in the window while I’m driving and it’s good at keeping rain out even with the window all the way down.
I went from a 2000 Silverado extended cab to a 21 Silverado crew cab Custom and getting all my stuff was a lot of fun. The first thing I did was swap the steering wheel and dash out. Along with bed cover, dash cam, rain guards, all weather mats, tow hitch, trailer brake, and LED headlights and reverse lights from Lasfit. After all my stuff was installed I removed all my badges and stickers.
just got a 1994 Dodge Ram 1500 5.9L blacked out rhino lined with some 22' black rims , red calipers, also just ordered a cherry bomb extreme and some magna flow high flow cats can't wait to install it so hyped to hear it roar
I have a 2009 GMC that I bought in 2014. I changed out a bulb on the tail light and that whole pocket was full of dirt. Your tail light pocket area was covered but on the newer trucks it is open to what ever the tires throw up there. I bought a set of aftermarket rear wheel well liners and put mudflap material in the opening of the pocket. I live in Upstate NY and that would be a perfect spot for the salt to eat up that area. The truck only had 17,000 miles on it when I bought it.
I soak my air filters in hot water and dish soap. Then rinse it . Seems to clean it the best . To speed up the drying process I put a hair dryer in the filter and leave it for 10-15 minutes. I also work for Cummins and it’s best you install the fuel filter dry so you aren’t filling your new filter with contaminated diesel.
Finally a good reason to watch this channel, you got a diesel baby, I was starting to think you played for the other team cause all your other trucks are gas suckers, can’t wait for all the content on this truck
4 years for me and mine, too. Absolutely amazing truck! Took 2 years for me to refurbish the frame and body, worth all the hard arse work. I don't think I could give it up for a very long time.
I absolutely love the rain guards, I’m a big fan of the truck! I always do vinyl between the windows especially with the tint makes them look aggressive
Great truck. We've had 4 2005-2006 cat eyes. Get the transfer case checked. There's a part inside of it that vibrates a hole in the case causing a small leak. We had to replace to cases at the same time.
I’m so envious dude. I have a victory red LBZ too and my hood paint is coming up but yours look so good. I live down a dirt road so it’s hard to keep clean but man that thing looks and sounds so good.
Your truck looks great. I have seen a bunch of older trucks with good paint and body and that clean up real nice, but with clouded out headlights! I know they aren't cheap. Just go with OEM if you must , but it will really makes a difference!
The aluminum stock wheels on those years look so good I just wish they were bigger than 16’s. I put the newer style 5 spoke ltz 2500 wheels on my truck but every time I see a gmt800 with some clean polished aluminum stocks I question myself
My '10 1500 Sierra came with 20" aluminum wheels. They are called " touring wheels". I personally don't like them being that I live in upstate New York. The bead area on the wheels oxidizes and creates a very small leaks.
Nice work. I always change my fuel filters from the top. It's a tight squeeze to get it out but i've done it in sub zero temps when necessary. Sadly, my 2003 is now blowing blue smoke after 200K miles. I'm guessing rings instead of injectors this time. It's a great farm truck and I wish it was as nice as yours. Just wondering how much life it has left. Rocker rust for sure. But still running!
I would like to send you some pictures of what I’ve done to mine. Not sure how to do that. The dealer made me laugh when I showed him. “ You’re really narrowing down the Resale market.” Just struck me as funny. Just a few add on’s. Cab lights, chrome trim on the window vents, body color fin antenna, different running boards, lettered bed caps, bed rug, bed extensions, tailgate steps. Chrome on body side trim on bed , tail light trim, under tailgate light bar, under hood lights, chrome dash trim, foot well lights, transmission cooler, cylinder cut off modules, Vouge white walls. Painted the Chevy “Bow tie” on the center caps large gold flake. Guess that’s about all for this year. Oh yeah almost forgot. Some absolutely amazing puddle lights. Must be seen to be believed. Side marker lights also. But I like it and that’s all that matters.
I have the Weathertech rain guards on everything I own. Lets the heat out but stops the rain from coming in. It is one of the few mods I do on a vehicle.
I’ve always wanted a carbon fiber wheel on my truck, so expensive but they have suede and everything looks so nice, if money is no issue I’d check into them for the duramax it would look sweet with the interior
Every single vehicle I buy, I put rain guards on. So my vote and suggestions would be new rain guards, AirDog lift pump and stock fuel filter delete, center caps for wheels that fit that truck just fine and use that money saved for the highly important lift pump. The black headliner would be cool. Boost Auto Parts sequential turn signal tow mirrors, black and chrome door handles for exterior, 3 inch down pipe, pcv reroute, turbo resonator delete, 8 new AC DELCO 9G glow plugs, Edge CTS3 Insight to monitor everything. These are some of the things that are "must haves" and some things you might like and/or benefit from. I love my '06 LBZ Sierra 2500hd. I have some of these things I've done to mine and a mild tuner and Transgo shift kit Jr. I spent 2021 and 2022 refurbishing my frame and body. I do all of my own work on my truck, welding, bodywork, painting, etc. A lot of hard work but no $1,000 + monthly payments, just credit card bills.😂 175,000 miles and runs like a top. I use Opti-lube XPD in every fill-up. Would like to get a PPE oil pan on her someday and an RDS 64 mm 9 blade turbo. Red is not my color, but she is beautiful. Congratulations! Mine is black.
I actually work for Hardy Ford, which is the same owner that owns Hardy Chevrolet where the truck was originally bought from and I haven’t seen a Hardy decal like that in years
Every time I get a new truck I clean it extensively inside, new oil and filter, fuel filter, drain and fill the diff, new trans fluid and filter, clean or replace air filter, check the belt, drain and fill the coolant. The tail lights I would replace and I always put in LED license plate lights and reverse bulbs too.
Can you please make sure to make a video when you replace the sunroof gasket. My trucks sunroof is leaking bad and I need to replace the seal but can't find any videos on YT. Love your content and the new truck. Can't wait for more videos on her.
Hell yeah man great looking rig! Maintenance first always best practice. I can't wait to see this thing paint matched up. Some 22" chrome forces maybe?
technically you dont have to bleed off for the fuel filter change everyone in my area just hits a few pumps till its stiff then rev it to 1500 for 10-20 seconds just in case (the theory is to "run thru" any problems") no idea why, its no easier just what everyone i know does that works also. imo the cateyes need rainguards and a bugshield on the hood
LBZ is the most sought after Duramax amongst enthusiasts. Pre-emissions (no SCR/no DEF, no DPF) and it has a few important upgrades over the previous LLY (2004.5 to 2005), such as having a 6th gear (so you aren't turning over 2,000 rpms at 70mph when you get max torque around 1,600), an appropriately sized turbo inlet mouthpiece, and more. I believe this also has a true Allison transmission other than an Allison branded trans. They're very reliable. Also, the cateye front end is one of those love/hate designs and the people that like them REALLY like them.
Change All the fluids over to Amsoil, and run a bottle of the amsoil Ctane and injection pump lubricant in every tank of fuel and you will never have injector problems.
Have you seen the difference with amsoil forsure? Because i do run amsoil on my motorcycle but i heard amsoil is overrated and its as good as cheaper brands but not the cheapest.
@@WalkingDead520 I’ve been running amsoil for years in everything, I believe it is superior product “ project farm lubrication test” showed it had the best lubricity compared to any other brand.
To stop your sunroof from leaking use vegetable oil put some on there let it sit wipe it off don't leave it on there it'll mess up the rubber all together but if you just rub it on let it sit for a few minutes and take it off it'll help seal them windows if everything else is okay
Get in the bed and go up to the roof. Look at the "C" or rear-most pillar and there is a little deep galley where the door seam would stop that is not always sealed by the factory very well. Fill it up with 3M Weatherstrip cement --- black is best. This keeps water out of the rear cabin dogleg and will keep it dry so it doesn't rot out.
I love the truck you purchases. Rain guards look good as I use them a lot my self and also use the sun visor. I wouldn’t go without either of them. In channel visor look better then the one that mount to vehicle 😀
You should team up with an upholsterer instead of doing seat covers and get the seats recovered. It's not ridiculous money and dude, it is one of the most badass things you can do with an older vehicle. It makes the whole vehicle feel brand new! Not enough people do this and, to me, it takes things to a whole other level.
for those who have a sun roof, if you dint know they have drain plugs inside the roof lining if you dont drain it it may leak inside of you vehicle. also 10/10 but nxt time whacth we your spaying the water or plug the tail light, cause u did end up putting a lot of water in it
I just bought an 04 lb7 with 230,000 miles on it new injectors new batteries and it runs like a new truck I think it would pull hell through a knothole

I was into your 2018 as that's what I own (red) but this truck is the best so far. Even as it sits right now it is just sweet !
beautiful truck, i’ve been looking around for a truck myself and I’m decently considering the cateye’s now, thank you!
Did you get one already?
I’ve always wanted a carbon fiber wheel on my truck, so expensive but they have suede and everything looks so nice, if money is no issue I’d check into them for the duramax it would look sweet with the interior
1st must upgrade for you is new tires bro 😆. Solid unit though, love my cat eyes!
I’m very excited to what you’ve got in store for this. Great content keep it up
Fly them window vent visor's. That and the bug shield be the first things to go on my truck purchases.
I think this is the first of these trucks ive like looks good sits right paint is shiny and sounds nice 🎉Congrats
Thanks for the heads up on the Name!
I have 06 gaser and a 07 Duramax and I never knew that
Hey dude. You remind me in some nostalgic way of a friend of brother that i never had. You have a great vibe. Good man.
I feel this , I just got my new truck, 2010 silverado 6.2 ls, so surreal
Hell yeah I’ve been waiting for the longest time for you to get another duramax!!! Keep up the videos man I’ve been waiting and love your content!!
Those Banks filters are actually manufactured by K&N (I worked there for 5 years). Perfect product for the job 👍🏽
I super appreciate your videos! You’re a good guy! Keep up the good work!
It’s nice to see someone else using Kobalt!! It’s the little things that get me excited 🤷♂️
Chase you can replace the plastic parts in that sunroof for under 200 in parts and it is totally doable in under 3 hours.
Just curious why is this your dream truck?
Pre emissions duramaxs are very sought after
LBZ is the most sought after Duramax amongst enthusiasts.
Get you one of PPE's duramax bleeder screws. They're metal. And you should definitely keep its name Heather
absolutely leave rain guards on , sun roof is bad ass . interior looks great . best of luck , thanks for the tips . what yr ?
Keep the rain guards. They look so good on these trucks. Mine looked naked without them.
The stock wheels for this truck re the best-looking wheels to ever come off the line. Especially if they're clean. Keep or replace the rain guards.
Absolutely a beautiful truck! Have you ever thought about using mothers black trim restorer?
Levels to life 😂 love it
You got a beautiful rig though! I’d be hard pressed to find something that clean in the northwest.
Level your tow mirrors. Then do an egr blocker plate. That will bring a noticeable difference to acceleration
Man, that is a beautiful truck!! it's almost my dream truck as well, except I want a long box and a 3500.
Absolutely love this truck, got a 04 1500 extended cab and absolutely love it.
Definitely love the channel !!!!!! Hopefully ill be purchasing a 18 Silverado next year i loved the way yours looked
Put light black stripe on truck bed as in the opening shot.(Tree trunk shade) That looked pretty cool. Not everyone has it.
tow mirrors on the 2500’s look great u should get some like 2017 silverado tow mirrors
This video is great love the quality and it is just enjoyable to watch with good information!
Chevy 5 star wheels are a must!
Beautiful truck man. It reminds me of a silverado my grandpa used to have but white.
Name it CLIFFORD!!
Red rocket would be better
Everyone names their red truck Clifford 🤦🏽♂️
Dude I really like that truck. Lookin forward to the upgrades on that sucker for sure!!
Yepper… about a month ago I bought a 1994 F-250 7.3 power stroke and the first thing was change all the fluids and filters.
When you put the monster in the cupholder, all I could smell was wintergreen and cigarettes from high school oooo the good times.
for those who have a sun roof, if you dint know they have drain plugs inside the roof lining if you dont drain it it may leak inside of you vehicle. also 10/10 but nxt time whacth we your spaying the water or plug the tail light, cause u did end up putting a lot of water in it
also could be the seal but the drain plugs are know for clogged causing it to back up into your vehicle
NICE work young man! I like these old chevys and gms
Great truck !!! I was wondering does this generation have a cabin air filter.
I just bought an 04 lb7 with 230,000 miles on it new injectors new batteries and it runs like a new truck I think it would pull hell through a knothole
Ive always liked the stock look on most trucks, there are nice aftermarket parts but sometimes they just arent the look.
dam lucky! nice truck congrats i would LOVE a red duramax. mine was blue had to sell it for personal reasons but i miss it so so much
Hi,
What year is your truck????
Excited to see the set up you got coming👀
Car dealerships in my area say they treat customers like family so I assumed they took care of all that before selling their used vehicles.
i havnt been watching u much recently but i’ve been waiting until i got my own, getting a lbz for 3k in a weeek
