Road to the Arnold - 2019 - Ray Williams
Вставка
- Опубліковано 15 вер 2024
- It was one of the breakout highlights of the 2018 Arnold Sports Festival: powerlifter Ray Williams (aka “Optimus Prime”) squatting 1,069 LBS in front of the crowd in Columbus. One year later, that would seem like a tough act to follow, but Ray isn’t sweating it. Williams has never faced an easy road in life, from a difficult childhood through the day when he found his calling in football and strength training. “When you come from nothing, and you finally get the opportunity to make your dreams come true, you put everything you can into it.”
Am I the only person that notices these power lifters, and world strongest men competitors are way more humble and chill than other average celebrities?
John Mead they’re objectively judged. The numbers don’t lie. So they can’t feed their ego. That’s why I like athletes from number sports like track, lifting, rowing, etc. other sports, there’s always an excuse when comparing results.
That's because they aren't celebrities lmao
@@Agnes135 If they are well known enough and are good at what they do surely there a celebrity.

Yea. You’re smart
John Mead moo yeah, I've noticed that too.
Tyron Woodley before a weight cut
Liam Pickering leave woodley outta this 😂😂😂😂
Snap exactly what I was thinking
Liam Pickering more like dc 2 days after moving up to heavyweight
@@joeyo3386 couldn't help it man, first thing that popped in my head 😂
That’s fuckin funny
Very down to earth, love this guy.
@Life is Peachy No, not in the IPF and Ray is a much better squater.
@Life is Peachy Ray is an IPF Lifter and is testet in a competition and is squating in sleeves, you know nothing about powerlifting.
@@riesenesel176 You're a fucking moron if you think it matters that they're tested. Do you know how easy it is to pass those tests? Do you honestly believe Ray isn't on steroids? Lmao!
He most likely is. But the only lift he competes and gets massive numbers in is the squat. The bench and DL not so much. Thor wouldn't be able to beat Ray's squat record imo. I think it is 529 kg.
Such clean filming. Would love to see more of this with Ray.
Wish nothing but the best for this guy. Hope he gets more and more from life.
how long do you think he's going to live with a 50-inch waist, diabetes, and being morbidly obese? High bone density and muscle mass won't save him.
@@Re3iRtH how do you know he has diabetes
@@burning_buddha He has all the associations/risk factors for diabetes. walks like a duck, quacks like a duck..
@@Re3iRtH you mean his overweight etc ?
@@burning_buddha Yes, his weight and waist circumference. Even if he has more muscle than the average 400 lb dude, that is not enough to prevent diabetes. He may be pre-diabetic now but by the time he's 40 he will definitely be diabetic.
Ray Williams is the role model every young man needs. Came from poverty, found his focus and succeeded where countless others have failed. He’s not a victim and blames no one else. He succeeds or fails based on his actions, not those of others.
@wannabchomsky STFU racist
It's good to see Ray William Johnson keeping busy after getting out of youtube
Seriously though, this guy's is insanely strong
Lmao I don't know if a lot of people will get this
@@wasabiemans ikr
Lel what i imagined too!
Lmaooo
I get it & im glad I’m not the only one lmaoo
Now every vid just starts with them cooking some eggs 😂
Forgot the eggs. The bacon!
"I just want to beat the best version of myself" spoken like a true powerlifter
“Rest, and feed the machine” love it!
Ray is an absolute beast. Cant wait for the rest of series, keep them coming rogue !!!
“Rest and feed the machine” amen to that.
Absolutely admire his dedication to training. Probably doesn’t make that much money based on the looks of his home, yet makes his body a priority. Mad respect.
I work at the same school as Ray, he's a huge (no pun intended) inspiration for any powerlifter, you don't have to be UA-cam famous or a fitness model to be one of the best in the world! I know he's gonna kill it at the Arnold and I wish him the best of luck! C/F17
@Wile E Coyote lol
@Wile E Coyote Would you like to buy a bridge?
Ray is an incredible athlete and a humble man. A true champion. I'd say he's the Paul Anderson of our time, and I hope to shake his hand one day.
3:36 when someone asks what you’re doing over the weekend
Domo Naf 😭😭😭😭
Lmao
💀💀💀
the way he said "my man" confused me at first..
i thought he was gay
Pav W yeah I noticed that too
Same here lol
If he says you're his man you gonna say any different?
If he calls you his man, you're his man.
I love this brother. I follow him on instagram and he's one of the most humble guys I've seen. Ridiculously strong too. I wish they would have shown him deadlifting. The speed that his deadlifts come off the ground is insane. I hope he does well at the Arnold.
This Man right here are my most inspirational motivation ever😭
Ray if you are reading this - you are one awesome, awesome person.
Salute!
Dude this was very inspiring!! Makes me want to get off my ass and get back into being strong and healthy again... watching this gives me a feeling that having to start over and work thru the obstacles in my way is something that I can do, and can be done. Hearing you say where you’ve come from and all the negativity you’ve smashed thru makes me happy for you and I hope to do the same. Thanks for telling your story man 👍
This dude is a beast. Very motivational. I hope he does well at the Arnold.
I liked this guy from when he hit the spotlight but this video makes me love him. What a genuine guy!
Ray Williams is doing Arnold? oh i WANT to see this, most competitive Arnold yet!
he is competing in powerlifting at the Arnold not strongman
@@hreidarhreidara161 ah damn

What an incredible inspiration - 'I just wanna beat myself, I wanna be the best version of me'
'I just wanna beat myself, I wanna BEAT the best version of me'
Rogue is smashing these road to arnold vids. The Mateusz kieliszkowski, the 500kg deadlift vid and now this.
Strength sports getting big
Not really.
"I didnt know I was poor till people told me" that's a seriously enlightened phrase. Never knew I loved this guy until now
Yeah, I've only heard that a thousand times, lol...
I love these rougue videos that show the best powerlifters in short, but full videos definitely makes me excited for the Arnold coming up
Wanted a strongman video but oh man it's Ray Williams so I ain't complaining about 👌
I like the Mans attitude.. Seems to be humble with, Samson strength.. Rock on man.. 👍👍
The strongest man doesn't always win the meet the smartest does..... PREACH!
A man who appreciates a freshly cooked batch of bacon like that deserves all the love and respect in this world.
I'm a simple man, I see Olu I like the video
What a humble, nice and down to earth guy. Great for the sport.
I could only imagine having Ray Williams as a strength coach. Those guys at the junior college sure hit the jackpot
That’s why I’m glad you do these videos. Because I have never heard of this guy. But now I will be keeping a eye out for him.
Very humble person, hope he continues to do well in the sport.
Good luck Ray... you got a new fan.
You know what? This guy he is awesome! This guy is the favorite of mine on Arnold's event. The man from the people!
Olu from Brian Alsruhe's gym?
Sudhir Joshi yes thats him

Maryland
Very inspiring dude

Since Vince ain’t here, I’d like to offer Ray Williams a WWE contract!
ill always root for this guy strong but also humble.
I'm loving this road to series.
I met Ray Williams a couple years ago. He is so nice.
What you mean not a strongest person wins. This is literally the most important factor in this competition.
I love this guy. Everything, we should all aspire to be.
Incredibly humble person
Amazing story and very humble!! When you blow up always remember where you came from my man.
Bring that trophy home champ!! Let's Go
One of the realest statements came outta that legends mouth right at the end of that video 🙏🏽
Watched Ray rip people up at UTM. Seems like a great person and hope he crushes the strongman game soon
Powerlifters only train for 3 lifts. He would get owned in strongman
This man played for the same college football team I’m playing for right now. UTM Skyhawks
What a fuckin' tank. Love this guy's spirit. You can tell he has a lot of knowledge and wisdom. Just a couple of training sessions with the guy would be so beneficial.
Maryland represent stand up!!!
Ray Williams almost makes Olu look small. Absolute unit.
He can't be bothered with what anyone else has to say.
Lets go big baby! Beast mode all day everyday. Good luck Ray!
What a G. Such an Inspiration
Rooting for ya big fella!
The harder you train, the more you get humble. Respect for my man Ray👏👏👏
The nicest silverback I've ever seen
I want to be a power lifter. Not just to be strong. Because I want to be as humble and respected as Brian Shaw, Thor, Eddie, and Ray. Stay strong fellas!
hell yeah you can do whatever you want in life man :)
@@josefsan8769 I want to be a flying unicorn though.
BigBlackBootyDaddy Meaningless to you.
This hit me right in the feels.
How come i've never heard or even seen this man before?
'' You never squat 1000 lbs I squated 1000 lbs ''
Love Ray, been following him on IG for a little while now, seems like a really cool dude.
how come most of these roghue videos are cut off at the top? was the same with mateusz
Good luck bro at the Arnold
Awesome video, and kudos for showing Olu as well!
How can you judge a squat when the lifter is too thicc to hit depth?
The hip crease has to go below the knee.
That’s it.
Hips bellow knees / parallel to at the very least you've also got 3 judges from different angles.
Love the story, it’s a lonely place on the other side of them tracks. Keep working hard ray!
1. Good for you RAY. Keep up the good work!
2. GOD will Bless you!
I'm a fan. Keep up the hard work. Got get 'em!
Respect such a inspiring story.
Amazing guy and a true Champion
love this this guy! Need more videos of him!
Just wondering at what point does steroids come into play? Eating, resting and putting your time in is always mentioned but steroids is left out. Yes - you still have to work hard with steroids but without it, you can’t stay competitive at that level. So again, at what point or weight does steroids come in to continue the gains?
love that music. Sounds like something out of the 5th element.
Dude is an inspiration
Very Inspiring, good luck at the Arnold!
Seems like a really down to earth guy. Salute.
I would love to see Ray step in the strongman.
Lol...
Can't wait to see him do log! Give em hell, Ray 💪

What a strong man
Strong 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💪💪💪
I'm looking forward to seeing you Compete I'll be rooting for you
That’s cool, dude. Glad you found your passion.
This is great bro keep up the awesome work
Funny how when you squat 1000 your road to the Arnold video gets 1000s of views and mine did not 😂 Ray is one of the all time greats and is inspiring to watch
32 years young 👌
This guy is a beast
Ray is the strongest powerlifter
