- Martins Licis-reigning World’s Strongest Man-is hoping to improve on last year’s runner-up finish in Columbus. Suffice it to say, the 29 year-old Latvian-American is no longer flying under the radar. Back in training, after winning the 2020 Arnold Pro Strongman USA Qualifier, he’s ramping up his workouts and fine-tuning his form in an attempt to take down the 2x defending Arnold Classic champion, Hafthor Bjornnson.
Rogue’s complete live stream of the 2020 Arnold Strongman Classic begins here on Friday, March 6, at 1 PM EST. 10 strongmen will compete in 6 events over 2 days for the title of Arnold Strongman Classic Champion. Rogue’s coverage of the Arnold Classic weekend will include daily episodes of the Rogue Iron Game show featuring guests from the worlds of Strongman, Olympic Lifting, Powerlifting, and CrossFit. We will also be streaming the full 2020 Rogue Record Breakers competition and the IWF Rogue World Challenge.

Overdose Nah. WSM is just one strongman comp. doesn’t mean you’re the strongest, especially when the favourite was seriously injured. Right now the strongest human on the planet is Thor, or Daniel Bell

Gore4ever FulciLives aye you’re right it’s tough to compare but for sake of fairness I think you have to include someone like Bell who is dominating powerlifting at the moment - I don’t think many strongmen could total 1127.5kg in only sleeves, even with a few years of training - probably only Thor, prime Eddie & Z could

@@provocunt8673 Idk. The WSM contest seems to have become more about overall power (strength + speed and mobility) rather than just brute strength as it was in the past. Thor definitely has a huge edge over Martins in strength alone, but I think he's going to have a lot of trouble lugging around his 200kg+ frame.
@@robjef622 he is very mobile for his weight just have a look at the sparring fight against conor mcgregor where he assumingly weight about 15kilos less than now. Last year he was injured and still got third. I dont see how there is anyone who can beat him this year but we will find out soon.
@@robjef622 He came first in the loading race at wsm 2018 at 200kg bw 😂 He placed badly last year because of his torn plantar fascia. Thor has always been one of the most mobile guys despite his higher bw.

One of my favorite personalities in strong man. You can tell that this dude is unique and though at the end of the day hes trying to beat everyone else he cares about the sport and his friends in it.

How do you not like this warmed hearted and multi talented giant.
I love the contrast of Martins' size at 3:30. I'm so used to seeing him next to people like Brian Shaw and Thor and they make him look small, but then you see him next to a normal sized person and it sets in that he's actually very large.

He is a fighter, he gets that extra Motivation in the competition when it matters the most
Thor: I usually need 12-16 weeks to properly peak for a show.
Martins: the past few weeks have been hard. I have two weeks to peak. It's doable.
Call me naive, but I really believe if competitors never knew the events until the week of the contests, Martins would be undefeated.
Yeah, Martins has a background in a wide variety of sports which makes him probably the most allround of all the strongmen. He might not be the strongest but he's extremely skillful. I really find it fascinating how he always seems to find a way to perform even if his preparation was disrupted.

Man martins seem like a great guy, I'm glad I've been subscribed to his great channel before he became wsm 2019, what I like the most about his videos is how he explains every details about the work he does and the technique and why he needs it.

This man is scary...i don't think hes even close to peaking. His focus on accessories and mobility really make it crazy to imagine where he'll be at in 5 or so years with even more mass. And hes already worlds strongest man.

I think the best thing you can do is simulate the events that are going to be in the competition in training, basically using the Eddie Hall formula. Martins definitely has an advantage with all the nice gear he's got and how he's approaching his training.

Martins! easy in the top 3 for arnolds ohio. He may not be the biggest, but he has technique like no other. He reminds me of Magnús Ver Magnússon, his first wsm win he was a reserve and came in because someone dropped out. No one expected him to win and now he's in the WSM hall of fame with 4x titles
