Talk about strongman if you refer to low vewing and recognition, probably the most underrated sport out there. In terms of popularity it goes like this: fitness in general-crossfit-bodybuilding-weightlifting-powerlifting and then at the very bottom strongman.
@@PatrickEvans-x1v Not necessarily, but if strongmen for eg.: Brian Shaw or Mateusz Kieliszkowski would train for powerlifting strictly, then they would for sure hit some amazing numbers
@realhiphopdotcom not necessarily, thor and hicks totalled 1100kg in each of their powerlifting comps (in wraps)... ray ray totalled 1112.5kg in sleeves🤷♂️
@4:40 “to do what we do, thousands of lbs, something has to be off” I felt that. These are my sentiments exactly. I still remember those days in high school abs my early 20s when I was harshly rejected by women. I still remember those days in my teenage years always getting into fights because people felt like they could fuck with me. I still remember those times when I used to get chewed out by NCOs when I was in the army💯
I’m 60 years old and have been powerlifting for three years now and I believe you hit it on the head about going to the gym your videos are great keep up the great work
ray is fucking amazing. he continues to leave me in awww. i squated 460 2 days after watching him squat the first 1000 pounds in meet raw. it completely opened my mind to what the human body is capable of. i was so sad because i accidentally deleted the original video on instagram today that showed they were two days apart. but i still have the video so oh well. time to stop living in the past anyways get stronger then i was! that was like 2 years ago and im actually weaker and heavier body weight because i didnt train smart and got burnt out
He is right about the body being stronger than the mind. I once thought I was using 90lb easy curl bar for skull crushers turns out it was 110 I never had used that much weight before but I finished my set. I initially thought I was getting weaker
Brother you giving GOD the glory is impressive. It’s easy to think it’s all us but he makes us who we are. You’re an amazing lifter so please continue to crush the weights in good health. GOD bless
I know you aren’t hating on him but why would it matter if he squats high in training as long as he gets depth at the meet? Last time I checked gym lifts don’t count so if that’s the type of training that leads to success for him then why not do what works for him. He obviously knows what’s going on to be one of the top raw lifters
Brogains Brogan Downey I’m pretty sure you’re lying because his official listed height barefoot is 6 foot flat. You’re one of those guys who’s 5’11 and said they’re 6’2
Plot Dot lol okay buddy I did a seminar with him he was such a awesome dude but think what you want buddy maybe your right about his exact height but I stood next to him and I am 6ft2 exactly he was a little taller and way bigger
Brogains Brogan Downey The world may never know . In my eyes he’s 6foot because that’s “official “ but maybe I’ll stand next to him one day and see for myself .
Man wish I was ray lol and be sponsored by sbd and be as strong... ps start getting bigger belts in your store dawg been trying to get xl for a while mane
That's actually kind of an argument against what I'm saying. If he's powerlifting, shouldn't he be going to depth? Because with the depth in this video he'd get red-lighted at any competition he did
Grant Marshall I know he hits depth in competition, it just seems like if he had to hit depth in comp., he'd hit it in training to. But whatever works I guess
David T. There is an interview somewhere where he talks about it. At his size and weight it takes a lot of limbering up to hit depth and with the weights he's lifting it puts a massive strain on his body. He finds that as long as he can lift the top 80% of the squat he can force the full depth in competition.
True, but he makes it carry over to the platform. Usually the don't work for people, he is the exception to the rule, but you can't argue with the greatest squatter of all time.
Dustin Yates hes one of the greatest powerlifters. Majority of ppl can even unrack the weight he moves around. You can't critique a living legend, especially if you can't move the weight they can
He’s trying to save his knees. He’s said this many times before. He squats 1,000 lbs all the time. In competition he hits depth and that’s all that matters.
I’ve met him in person he is a true monster and the nicest person ever god bless you Big Ray
Sad that powerlifting vids don't have the views as crossshit. This is amazing
Brasdam from what I see from plenty of powerlifting , they squat high in training but low in competition
Brasdam this is training dipshit
Brasdam where you at? I'm in LA rn. But do you like bottoming?
Talk about strongman if you refer to low vewing and recognition, probably the most underrated sport out there. In terms of popularity it goes like this: fitness in general-crossfit-bodybuilding-weightlifting-powerlifting and then at the very bottom strongman.
Brasdam do you even know what bottoming is?
Only a few men in this world knows what 1000+ pounds feels like on their back, I'd take a small guess and say it's pretty heavy.
@jack riley CONRAD check at minute 3:05 it is marked inside his belt.
Strongman competitors would destroy this powrrlifting Competition
@@PatrickEvans-x1v Not necessarily, but if strongmen for eg.: Brian Shaw or Mateusz Kieliszkowski would train for powerlifting strictly, then they would for sure hit some amazing numbers

realhiphopdotcom either way you look at it, they are all elite athletes and have the upmost respect from me
He took that second chance life gave him and took it to the end zone via power lifting. Incredible.
@4:40 “to do what we do, thousands of lbs, something has to be off” I felt that. These are my sentiments exactly. It's not a competition..you save the best for a comp.. he squatted to dept before so it's not like he's never done it

I’m 60 years old and have been powerlifting for three years now and I believe you hit it on the head about going to the gym your videos are great keep up the great work

🔥🔥🔥 this guy 🙏💪💪💪💪
HE LOOKS GOOD FOR 500KG RAW SQUAT IN FUTURE!!!!!!!!
🎂🍰🍫🍬
o cara e um gigante, muito forte..
I love Ray, but he always squats so high in training... Obviously he gets it done on the platform, but it's crazy how high he goes in training.
I agree. I'm NOT a hater, but its just a fact that that was a high squat.
I guess it works for him, I cant recall seeing him do a shallow squat in his comps so I guess he knows what he needs to do
Im pretty sure it has to be with being easier on the knees.
agree entirely.
I know you aren’t hating on him but why would it matter if he squats high in training as long as he gets depth at the meet? ray is a fuckin beast
Give God the glory 🙏

Steve Mcqueen *THICC*
I’ve met him in person he is the biggest dude I have ever met I am 22 200 lb 6ft2 he was like 6ft3 400+ lb he was such a cool dude too
Brogains Brogan Downey I’m pretty sure you’re lying because his official listed height barefoot is 6 foot flat.

He convinced me.
Jesus dude. Depth was actually better on the 1000 than it was on the 800... what a fucking savage.
Man wish I was ray lol and be sponsored by sbd and be as strong... ps start getting bigger belts in your store dawg been trying to get xl for a while mane
yes
amazing
I hereby dub Ray Williams Raw Williams, from this day forth.
Motivational👌
I didn’t realize what a huge part football would be for me if I worked hard I fucked myself
good guy
Beast
best guy
This guy is built like a silverback, straight savage
This is an awesome video and I really respect Ray Williams, but I can't help but notice the depth on the squats...
David T. Its Powerlifting Bro
That's actually kind of an argument against what I'm saying. If he's powerlifting, shouldn't he be going to depth? Because with the depth in this video he'd get red-lighted at any competition he did
Look at him in competition. He definitely hits depth there. Opening at 975 and up from there. This is training and whatever he is doing it works.
Awesome
Go hard in training then its nothing competition time because its what you always do
Epic
everywhere there are shortcomings
Ray is so f*cking large
This 1000 pound was so easy 😨
SAVAGE!!!
Champion
Hell yeah UTM
I still have trouble believing that someone stole his squat belt. I cannot fathom doing that to another person. Sad world, indeed.
This is real training.Larry wheels has to look on this cos for him nowadays all he does is just cheap commercialisation and not real training.....
in competition he goes way deeper than here, why is that?
Probably to save his knees. He squats 1,000 lbs consistently
Squat > every other exercise ever
7:20 half squatting
deez nuts you couldn’t squat 225
You probably can’t even unrack that weight.
i want do see him try taking a backflip XD
7:11 this man basically just walked out 470kg, squatted it and walked it back in, isnt that a monolift?
IPF you gotta walk out, so I guess he praccin
Plus if he’s training alone theres no one to operate it. U wanna train just like you compete anyways.
MAKİNE TALHA THE BEST.
Amazing but the depth was ehhh
True, but he makes it carry over to the platform. Usually the don't work for people, he is the exception to the rule, but you can't argue with the greatest squatter of all time.
Dustin Yates hes one of the greatest powerlifters. Majority of ppl can even unrack the weight he moves around. You can't critique a living legend, especially if you can't move the weight they can
HNiCDuke can you critique your doctor for butchering your operation since you probably couldn't do it better?
He does it on purpose. Watch his comps, he always hits depth.
Does it to save his knees. I squat a lot and "heavy" and I totally see why. my knees are getting mushed and I'm nowhere near a 1000lb...
None of those squats were depth tho
He’s trying to save his knees. He’s said this many times before. He squats 1,000 lbs all the time. In competition he hits depth and that’s all that matters.
I ruined my back powerlifting . Warning.
Well you were doing it completely wrong
