Welcome back folks! This one took a minute. Let me know if you have any questions, or feel free to add your 5 cents to the discussion. I may do a more granular video addressing how concept artists can help other departments in more detail, if that's something folks are interested in. Cheers!
@jamescombridgeart What do you think, will this profession still be a thing in the future? At my work everyone is diving into AI models and everyone can be a concept artist now. I feel almost useless. Especially if client doesn't have good taste and fine with type of shit AI generates.
That last sentence is your answer haha. Imo there's definitely a place for good design and story that only an artist can bring. Sure, ai can spit out something shiny and shallow, but any kind of nuance still absolutely needs a trained eye. I like this analogy:, do you want to make instant coffee, or spend the time learning how to pour a good espresso shot? Also, even the best coffee gear money can buy won't save a clueless barista. 😉 I guess that's a long winded way of saying, tools will change, but training your artistic eye and underlying fundamentals are ultimately going to be valuable for a long time yet
Thanks! And yes absolutely! Not as a hard rule necessarily, but it's certainly another tool in the tool belt that can be used to very effectively communicate 'whats inside' :)
