AsSimle AsIAm is right, they can be extended and they can also choose to have a separate NDA. The same way doctors and teachers shouldn't (and in many countries, cannot) speak about their patients and students, even after they no longer treat/teach them or stop practicing.

Only worth it if one of the vids actually says it was because the person who left the company couldn't take the SJW whiny bull shit anymore. If all of them are just about wanting more creative control, etc., they aren't worth it. Heck, I paused this video 2 minutes and 21 seconds in and have no intention of watching anymore. It's definitely their loss. The content created by the ones who left is so much better than what Buzzfeed has produced in the last year. They are now recycling old video topics with new actors and stealing their ideas from other UA-camrs. I'll never forget how they fired Brittany Ashley. I'm so glad Saf left. The only reason I continue to watch LadyLike is because of Freddy.

Rewatching this 6.5 years later and I love how her channel has developed. I fell in love with her personality in the Lady Like videos, and I love that she branched out on her own. Her and the content she creates with Tyler is literally what I live for. I cannot be happier for what they have built and the content they put out 💚
Honestly, if Buzzfeed took more suggestions from their employees, their views would skyrocket. Audiences LOVE to interact with the people they look up to. It's such a shame that creative & clever minds are being exploited with little to no credit when they're really the soul of the Buzzfeed community.

I know Saf would never Go There, but it was a HUGE mistake not to let her have more responsibility and decision-making over content she was largely creating. Look how fast her channel has already grown. She and Freddy started LadyLike when Buzzfeed wasn't really giving them resources and backing. It's just a shame that the company doesn't do more to develop and reward the talent that makes the company successful!
What's Buzzfeed's lost is Safiya's gain. Seriously, with the way her channel exploded I bet she is not regretting her decision to leave Buzzfeed one aorta.

Lena Douglas I agree, but one of the main reasons she got so many subscribers over a short period of time was actually because of buzzfeed, and that was how I found it. I just wish there was a way for her to have her own channel, AND be in ladylike.

If you compare Safiya to other Buzzfeed alum, her channel has grown much faster. Not to say the others aren't talented - if you make it to video producer on Buzzfeed you're probably chock full of creativity and intelligence - just Saifya had very special skills and presence, and it's Buzzfeed's fault for letting that go. She very much enjoyed LadyLike, and it sounds like the main reason she left was the lack of freedom and transparency. Those are just bad practices for a company looking to retain its talent.

Saf currently has 8.66 million subscribers, is happily married to her best friend, and is making content she wholeheartedly enjoys. Buzzfeed continues to sink into irrelevance and churns out content their own staff seem unenthused about. Sometimes, change is for the better. I'm glad to see how far Saf has come and how happy she's been since she left. Never be afraid to forge your own path in life.

From what I gather from everyone that left and made these videos, they're all kinda like artists. They make these amazing things that we love. They work really hard and they love the medium they work in, but it's restricting because unlike the artists they wanna be, they aren't choosing the colors they work with. Or the frame they use. Or even where the art goes. They can't even really say they were the ones that made it or discuss this super awesome things with the people directly.
Makes perfect sense that she started her own UA-cam. Now she can make things she likes and she isn't restrained in any way. She can cultivate a community and actually join the conversations that her content starts. It's sad that she can't work with the other Ladylike girls though, I'm gonna miss seeing them together :(
I think Safiya was actually more open than the others, though. She laid out her reasons really well, and anyone who's been working in the corporate environment can understand where she's coming from.
In a way, buzzfeed is like a UA-camr training school 😂 these producers getting the opportunities to not only become famous but use resources and gain experiences.
