Renji is one of those rare Shonen side characters I actually like everything about. Name, design, personality, character growth. Just an all around good character

Here's something I thought about, Maybe since renjis zanpakuto spirt has two individual personalities;(the snake and the baboon) probably the snake part found renji worthy of telling him half of his name but the baboon part didn't find him worthy and lied therefore making the incomplete bankai more snake like and have less baboon properties
That makes perfect sense now that I think about it!
But the question remains, why does renji have a bipolar zampakuto spirit? It's not like he has an internal conflict that splits up his personality or anything, nor is his soul a chimera of every faction in the story like Ichigo's. Was it ever explained?

U. A well the spirit renjis zanpakuto is based off of is a nue:a monkey with a snake as tail,the nue itself is considered one animal but the snake and monkey itself are different beings with is why they have there own brain and personality

unfortunately, that just filler means not canon. so the sexy monkey girl and snake boy might not even the real form of the zampaktou spirit cause it turns out that the real full name was soo zabimaru which translates to double snake king snake tail.

Renji’s bankai is actually one of the ones that was revealed in the TYBW that I actually liked
I totally agree it wasn't ridiculously powerful like most of the new Bankai, but it also wasn't useless. I just wish we could have seen it more.

Nope, Iba's zanpakuto was never revealed. Heck, Hisagi's bankai was finally revealed in a light novel but a current captain's zanpakuto wasn't.
I always found that super odd that out of all the people to be made a captain it was him. At least with Hisagi we know and have seen his shikai in action and now we know his bankai but with tetsuzaimon......nothing. not a damn thing. Hes probably the most underused character in the entire story and he's a captain 🤷♂️

Zabimaru is a really cool zanpaktou, design wise and ability. Though I do wish Kubo kept its spirit form the same instead of changing it. Oh I know its a long shot, but any way of doing a Soul Calibur Ivy Valentine video? I don't care if its the only one you do. LOL
The woman is not it’s spirit form. The monkey and snake tail is the true spirit form
It's still the monkey with the tail, Kubo illustrates that spirit form in one of the little sketches at the end of the chapters during his fight with Mask.

No falsification, my girlfriend and I are rewatching Bleach now and I mentioned your captain videos [if she wanted to catch up on everything] and she asked me if you had Kenpachi and Renji (my favorites). I only realized like a week ago that there was no Renji/Zabimaru vid
Zabimaru is one of the most unique in the series and I love it.
In we do knot always love you novel which is about Rukia's marriage and there is a scene where Rukia is walking to marry Renji and she and Ichigo watch each other and remember all that happened, that's what you got if you are with the IchiRukia thing xd; it's also said how Ichigo and Orihime got together
Iba's special ability is suppoused to be a water type Zanpaktou and I think that's confirmed but no idea if it has a name tbh

Everyone who covers that last battle overlooks this. Every other injuries that Yhwach causes, even the cracks on ichigos bankai appear on aizen and his sword. It’s obvious that aizen was the only one fighting until he stops the illusion when ichigo stabs Yhwach

You know speaking of Zanpaku I notice something with Renji and Byakuya. Especially their Zanpaktou. Is that they kinda share some similarities with each other. Now I'm not sure this is what Kubo intended or it is just luck. But I notice with other Renji and his Captain Byakuya. Mind you they are the only Captain and Lieutenant duo that share this. Both of their swords have a similar way of working.
Both are swords Shikai is made for mid to long reach combat.
Both swords share weakness as when the swords are attacking they are left open to attacks.
Both swords lack the ability to release energy waves and can easily be beaten by another sword that has can. (Aka Ichigo and Zangetsu)
Both swords Bankai(Well more Renji's first one to be exact) improve or upgrade in a similar way.
You see what I'm trying to say? They are different of course in their own right but share some things in common. And again this is the only C&L pair that Kubo did this for.
Renji is hands down the best character that everyone forgets.
Would you say Renji is a member of Ichigo's "main" group along with Chad, Urdu, Orihime, and Rukia?
@@usoppsniperkingnewworld1002 I want to say yes but he definitely fits more with the "kisuke" group then the ichigo group. Though he definitely hangs out with them more then any other shinigami ( save for rukia but obviously) he's still my second favorite lieutenant ( first is ikkaku)

My favorite Bleach character when I was a little kid and still is.
Wasn't "Renji" that fought against Yhwach in final battle just Aizen disguiesed by Kyoka Suigetsu? Because we see, that whenever Aizen reveals himself, he is missing the same arm, that "Renji" lost while attacking Yhwach, but we haven't seen Aizens arm being cut.
It definitely was. I even think that at some point that's even mentioned that all he cut was an illusion or something

Plus, when Kyoka Suigetsu effect was turned off, Ichigo and Aizen were having a conversation after they thought they defeated Yhwach. Renji wasn't part of that dialog or even seen nearby. Yhwach even said when he thought he saw Ichigo and Renji attack from behind that they "arrived sooner than expected" and with how Kyoka Suigetsu was able to thwart the Almighty, I'm beginning to think Renji didn't even show up for that fight.
Renji was there after all aizen created his illusion because he must have know he was going to attack too.
@@sarthakarora3212 In chapter 683, when Aizen was impaled by Yhwach's arm (Yhwach thought it was Ichigo) he said "Fascinating, so you think you're looking at Ichigo Kurosaki" That implies Aizen had no idea what Yhwach was actually looking at. Kyoka Suigetsu abilities changed a bit after he got sealed up. Seriously, think about it. Why would Aizen be intrigued by what Yhwach saw if he already knew what he was looking at?

I dunno why but that line "i was stuck in the friend zone for GOD knows how many decades" just makes me laugh despite how sadly true it is.
Another thought I had about renji losing his arm is that the baboon arm can extend, so it might be "broken" but he can still extend it. Similar to his first bankai still functioning despite parts being broken.

Oetsu's Zanpakuto was never revealed. And he already made a video discussing Yoruichi's Zanpakuto a few years ago
Just popped over to the channel after Tekking was on GMM and I'm pleased find a new Bleach video.
He also did that technique to Szayel where he wrapped Syzayel in his shikai form and used a kido technique.

Hōzukimaru. Tekking, you've still never talked about Ikkaku's zanpakuto- the last bankai. Ikkaku is my favorite character, and Hozukimaru is one of my favorite zanpakuto, but neither ever get any love. Ikkaku is generally treated as a worse Zaraki, while Hozukimaru gets literally shattered into pieces every single time it's used (it's broken more than any other zanpakuto in the entire series).
Please do a follow-up on the CFYOW novels, when you've read them.
Technically their are 4 forms to each sword, sealed-Shiki-bankai(untrue)-Bankai (awakened)

13:26 in manga there's drawing of kazeshini spirit also in can't fear your own world, rukia's bankai design is the same as sode no shirayuki also in can't fear your world we get to know that sogyo no kotowari were canonily mentioned that they're same in the zanpakuto arc.
This took a very, VERY long time that I actually started forgetting about it
I wish Kubo had made the King Serpent flick out a forked tongue that shot out on its own. Renji retracts it, drawing it into Soo Zabimaru's jaws crushing his opponent while burning him up at the same time! The ash drifting down into the Soul Society would've been awesome! Also--is Renji a member of a noble class? I'm thinking his father was Captain Ukitake.

Kubo stated she has her own Zanpakuto when she is one. And that is because Kenpachi named her. Whatever the hell that means
The idea of mayuri making renji a gun arm sounds cool and when he goes banki his bamboo arm can turn into a gun or cannon so he can go Baboon Kaboom would be cool to see if it will work like that.

Renji becomes the baboon king wielding the snakes tail in bankai. The toughness of the bankai allows him to survive Byakuyas bankai attack. Just a thought.
Okay, Tekking, so about the little trident dagger zanpacto Isane has, It is actually a dueling dagger traditionally used in the late middle ages up until the 1700's.
It is a parrying dagger, used to catch rapiers and sabers to open the opponent for a stab from ones own main weapon!
I'm glad Renji got a new bankai.
I really like kira's shinkai though the ability is pretty cool, the design is kinda dumb though
Well the design is befitting of the “soul reaper” aspect . Basically look at it as passing judgment /executioner ; also his ability to add weight is like your sins or whatever weighing you down .
I recommend you tackle Ikkaku's Hozukimaru and Yumichika's Ruri-iro Kujaku. You'll have a lot to talk about with these mere seated officers' Zanpakutos.
Oh and if you'd like, do Hanataro's Hisagomaru. I don't think you ever talked about Hanataro on the channel at all.
I wonder if Renji had gone on to master Hihio Zabimaru naturally, if he'd discover that he'd only learned part of his true Bankai or if Zabimaru would finally tell him the truth. Like if the fake name was a test of skill or maturity or something.
I also really love how Soho Zabimaru is kind of a sword and shield style Bankai. What with a sword in one hand and basically an super gauntlet over his other.
Also Zabimaru's spirit is basically a Nue.

More like a simplified take on a nue, imagine if renji's spirit actually looked like a real nue (part monkey, part tiger, part tanuki, part snake with lightning powers) his bankai wouldve been a Yamamoto style with multiple forms and lightning powers it be cool as hell

@@andrewgan557 true but caviat to these would be each form would be only one aspect of the nue but it's true form would have the lightning powers think of it like each form as armaments he can switch out at will. True it be taxing to renji but only his final form would be the most taxing thus becoming his Trump card if you will

Why 2 spirits?
I believe it was because he lived in poverty and had to rely on instinct and thievery to survive (Baboon), until Rukia came along to make things easier. He admired Rukia (Baboon Female), and had a lot of resentment towards everyone and everything, even himself, for not being able to stay by her side (Snake). That resentment made him a lot more rebellious and immature (Snake Boy). Also, when Renji told himself that Rukia finally had a family and that he should stay out of it was most likely him suppressing the baboon half of his power, which is why we never saw any baboon aspects until later.

Rangiku's shikai release is basically a less popular version of Byakuya's Senbonzakura.

Yeah it makes sense that Renji's Zanpaktou is not equal and the baboons tail is the snake. Although they're separate the baboon seems more dominate over the snake in conversation but during battle the snake is more present.

The thing is in the canon manga omakes of Bleach (the tiny comic strips after each chapter) , Mayuri tells Shuuei and Renji that they can change the sex of their zampakutos if they want, and so Renji did, transforming Zamibaru into a female.)

Tekking, you should make a video on fake Zanpakuto names. The whole topic is fascinating and has a lot of possibilities with different characters. We see it with Yumichika's Shikai, which is intentional by himself, and Renji's Bankai which you discuss here. But honestly it's a very interesting topic that should get a video on its own. Ichigo is in a similar boat as Renji but it's not with the actual name.
