    Gotta love unboxing all of that kit. It doesn't matter if it is well made computer hardware, power tools or GT-R parts, there is just something satisfying about it.

    I reached up to U.P before with some basic questions on the HKS kit they stock and they aren't big on knowledge sharing.
    Appreciate your videos since you shine a light on these products that otherwise (maybe do to language barriers in Japan) don't have accessible information.
    Geographically nowhere near you but @GoodeZilla seems very knowledgable on an RB26 Build having more or less done it himself with the help of a machine shop.

      Glad to hear you find my content to be informative. That is my entire goal is to provide information to the GTR community. I make content that I would like to see, if I was going to buy parts or install them. I really enjoy Dustin's channel Goodezilla. After watching a few of Goodezilla's video's, that is where I became inspired to start my own UA-cam channel. Thanks for watching and supporting my channel by leaving a comment. 👍

    You are doing exactly how I want to do with my R32. HKS (JDM) all the way through. Keeping it O.G unlike these young guys from San Diego putting unproven parts from their sponsors. I believe their rules and regulations when modifying these rare 90's cars. You're doing this right. Keep up the good work.

    I feel you on your local shop, I would prefer to buy directly from them also, but the price difference between ordering HKS directly from Japan and the local shop is too great.

    • @JDMRightHandDrive

      I totally agree! As much as I would like to support a local business. I also think that local business's need to be competitive with the market. But, I also realize that they are a specialty shop and have that specific niche cornered with the GTR resto mod market. There are lots of customers who can afford to pay their prices. That is probably the reason Doug responded abruptly with his message, that my business was no worth his time. But, I am not one of those customers who can afford to pay those types of prices, not with my family of 5. My friend paid $65,000 to have his car build by those guys to do a similar build to what I am going for. For most of us that type of money would price us out of the GTR market. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment. I appreciate your support.👍

    Been following you for a while. Glad to see that you are still at it. As a fellow Skyline owner in the PNW I’m rooting for you. Bummed to hear about the local Garage that’s no longer Up with helping the locals. And you used to help them out by promoting their shop. I hope the Skyline Gods will bring you luck with the rest of your build. And yeah I would have done the same with acquiring the parts myself to take full advantage of the yen to dollar exchange 👍🏼

      Thanks for that long time channel support. Yes fingers crossed that those car gods bless me with a smooth engine build with no catastrophic problems. I would have loved to stay with the old performance shop, but after several times of rubbing me the wrong way, unfortunately I have to take my business elsewhere. Thankful for all the valuable information they taught me and everything I learned about my Skyline GTR. Also gratefully for the new people I met and relationships, / friendships I made in the community from their customers base. Lets more to come, stay tuned!

      Thank so much, glad to hear people in the RB26DETT community find my videos to be helpful. Stagea 260rs is sweet. I have only ever seen one in person. GTR wagon for a family man. I will definitely share sore of the machine work and engine assembly process. I have never assembled a bottom end before, I am going to have a professional do this for me. I don’t feel comfortable with gapping the rings and all the bearing tolerances correct. Both shops are cool with me taking video of the process for my channel. So I was in the same boat a bit. I planned on going with a RB30. I knew the amount of machining I needed to fit the block brace and everything was gonna be some work.
    I called some places in the US and got some bs answers. I ended up just getting my block built with a Nitto 3.2 stroker by by Dahtone in Australia.
    Some of guys out here in the states think they have a game on customers with the RBs and they feel they can pull some bs on people.
    I hate how we're so far behind that we have to deal with higher prices and shops who think they're the only game in town.

    Geez blaming your tuner is a bit weak. They give advice, its general. Its your car, your choice. I am also not sure what actually went wrong with your motor , the backed out screws is a bit weird on a factory motor and the lack of bearing damage suggests is was never catastrophic. Good content otherwise, the detail on these parts is cool.

    • @JDMRightHandDrive
      @JDMRightHandDrive  2 роки тому

      Thanks, my guess is that the turbo CHRA had catastrophic failure and that is what introduced all the metal fragments into my engine, which can be seen on the magnetic drain plug when I change the oil. Keep in mind that the engine oil only had 100 miles on it from the last change and the magnetic plug was perfectly clean at the last oil change. I wanted to disassemble the turbo and inspect it myself, but was asked not to by the manufacture for warranty reasons. Once the turbo tear down was done, I was shown pictures of an in tact center cartridge from the front turbo and was told that the turbos had excessive shaft play because there was a problem with my engine that caused the front turbo to fail. After disassembling the entire engine and inspecting all of the bearings, crank, head, oil pump I was never able to find the source of all the metal fragments. I could only find some light scoring 2 of the mains. Like I said, I am no expert and this is my 1st time ever doing something like this. I have gotten myself into this project farther than I ever expected when I bought my GTR. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.
